Man Utd in Erling Haaland transfer blow with ‘Barcelona now frontrunners due to agent Mino Raiola relationship’

MANCHESTER UNITED could miss out on Erling Haaland after reports emerged of a Barcelona plot to land the striker.
Catalunya Radio, via BarcaCentre, report on the Norwegian’s agent being keen to send his client to the Camp Nou.

A number of clubs have been linked to Haaland since he broke out at RB Salzburg last season.
United failed in a reported attempt to sign the youngster as he headed to Borussia Dortmund.
Stellar form in Germany, including a brace past RB Leipzig on the weekend, has continued his ascendancy.
Barcelona are reportedly a club Raiola wants to build a good relationship with – and the move is touted for this summer.

The Catalans are currently undertaking presidential elections which could harbour a spending spree from the successful candidate.
Eric Garcia and Memphis Depay are thought to be targets for this window despite the club’s difficult financial situation.
Candidates Emili Rousaud and Joan Laporta, the favourite for the role, are both linked with bids for Haaland.
After Rousaud last month claimed he had discussed the deal with Raiola, the agent shot back that any talks were ‘fake news’.

He told Sport1: “When a new president is elected, they can call me.”
Real Madrid are also rumoured to be keen on the 20-year-old marksman, but are said to be focusing their efforts on Kylian Mbappe.
Any potential United deal for Haaland would have to go through Raiola, who has previously spoken against the club in regard to another of his clients, Paul Pogba.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer insisted the Frenchman has a ‘good attitude’ after his agent’s bombshell comments suggested a return to Juventus was on the cards.

Man City star Eric Garcia ‘reaches Barcelona transfer agreement over £8.9m January move on five-and-a-half-year deal’

WANTAWAY defender Eric Garcia has reportedly agreed to sign for Barcelona from Manchester City for £8.9million.
The LaLiga giants have been chasing the 20-year-old for some time after he left the club in 2017.

Garcia’s contract expires in June and he has made it clear that he will not be signing an extension at the Etihad.
Pep Guardiola has acknowledged the player’s desire but asserted in October that he still hoped to ‘seduce’ him into staying.
But, according to Mundo Deportivo, a deal is now in place for the youngster to move this month.
City have reportedly lowered their asking price from £17.8m to £8.9m, making the deal far more affordable for Barcelona.

The fee will be split into an initial sum of £4.45m, not due until later in the year, with a further £4.45m in variables.
It is said that the Catalans are happy to push ahead with the deal, on the agreement of each of the club presidential candidates.

Barcelona members will elect a new chief on January 24 with former president Joan Laporta among the hopefuls for the role.
If interim board leader Carles Tusquets gets the green light from all remaining candidates, he will sanction the move.

In any case, Garcia appears set for the Camp Nou with personal terms and a contract to 2026 reportedly agreed.
Barcelona can pre-agree a move in the summer if a deal with City cannot be reached.

Wednesday’s Mundo Deportivo front page reports on Garcia’s agreement with the LaLiga giants

But coach Ronald Koeman is thought to be keen on sealing the player’s switch now, given Gerard Pique’s long-term injury.
A move for Lyon striker Memphis Depay is also on the Blaugrana radar, although Pique’s injury has made Garcia the priority target.
The Spain international has remained in Guardiola’s squad this season despite his imminent exit, playing seven times.
However, he is currently out of action after testing positive for coronavirus.

Real Madrid flop Luka Jovic set to end Bernabeu hell with loan transfer back to Eintracht Frankfurt 18 months after move

REAL MADRID flop Luka Jovic is tipped to rejoin Eintract Frankfurt on loan.
The Serbia striker, 23, has been linked with Chelsea, Wolves, AC Milan and Hertha Berlin during his 18 dismal months in LaLiga.

Now Serbian magazine Republika suggest he will return to Eintracht for six months with NO option to buy.
Jovic has netted just twice in 32 games since joining Real from Benfica for €60million – about £54m.
Yet he made the switch after a sensational second year on loan for Eintracht in 2018-19.
Apart from 17 goals in 32 Bundesliga matches, he also struck ten times in 14 Europa League games that season.

Jovic, though, has never come close to unseating Karim Benzema as Real’s main frontman.

Bernabeu boss Zinedine Zidane has little direct cover for 33-year-old Benzema, only ex-Lyon star Mariano Diaz, 27.
That just leaves deeper-lying attackers like Eden Hazard and Marco Asensio.

So the fact Real seem ready to offload Jovic shows just how far the former Red Star Belgrade ace has slipped out of the picture.

Lionel Messi set to pocket £170,000 a week from Barcelona until 2025 even if he agrees Man City transfer

LIONEL MESSI is reportedly set to pocket £170,000-a-week until 2025 from Barcelona – even if he leaves for Manchester City.
The Argentinian legend’s future still remains unclear as his iconic reign of success at the Nou Camp appears to be coming to an end.

After his failed attempt to secure an exit last summer and seal a reunion with Pep Guardiola at City, he is expected to depart at the end of the season.
Messi, 33, recently admitted Barcelona were in a ‘really bad situation’ with ‘no money’ for Ronald Koeman to transform the ageing squad.
Speculation of a transfer away from the Catalans intensified further when Emi Rousaud, a presidential election candidate for the club, also claimed the forward’s current salary was ‘unsustainable’ and they could not afford to continue paying him that rate.
However, Marca claims Barcelona are still set to be hit in the pocket whether he goes or stays.

They state Messi will bank a whopping €39million (£34.8m) at the end of the campaign.
That figure is half of the €78m bonus agreed when he last renewed his Barca contract in 2017.
He has already banked the other €39m installment, with the agreement seeing Messi receive it in eight separate payments over four years rather than a lump sum.
And that means the LaLiga giants could still be paying him in 2025 even if he is no longer there.

Despite all the rumours of an exit, the veteran has hinted he is happier with life at the club in recent weeks compared to when he handed in a transfer request in August.
Both Premier League City and Paris Saint-Germain continue to closely monitor his situation closely.
But Messi will not make a final decision until the end of the season.

Real Madrid launch ‘operation Kylian Mbappe’ with SIX first-team stars to be axed to help fund £135m transfer from PSG

REAL MADRID are reportedly launching ‘operation Kylian Mbappe’ which will see SIX players axed to fund a £135million move.
Gareth Bale, Isco, Dani Ceballos, Luka Jovic, Marcelo and Brahim Diaz will be sold to raise between £90m and £135m to pay for the PSG striker’s arrival, Spanish paper AS claim.

Mbappe’s contract at the Parc des Princes expires in 2022 and the World Cup winner is yet to sign an extension.
The report states Los Blancos hope to open negotiations with PSG in June and aim to broker a deal worth £135m – given the state of the transfer market following the coronavirus pandemic.
But Madrid chiefs are thought to be preparing for a worst case scenario where the French giants demand a fee in the region of £200m to match what they shelled out for Neymar in 2017.
The club are concerned the arrival of former Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino could throw a spanner in the works as he launches his own Parisian project.

But with only one year left on his deal and the possibility he could quit Ligue 1 and walk away for free 12 months later, club brass are confident Mbappe will stick to his word and not sign an extension, allowing them to knock down his price.
And the report states Bernabeu bosses would be willing to stretch to a fee of £180m if Mbappe was to sign a bumper contract in the Spanish capital.
If the former Monaco man penned a five-year deal, for example, then the outlay would be spread over the course of the contract and Madrid’s books would only have to contend with £36m of expenses each year – which they are believed to see as an acceptable outgoing.
Mbappe’s hefty salary is not thought to be an obstacle in the way of a potential move with Real willing to match his current wages.

Ramos is one of Real Madrid’s top earners but is demanding more to stay on for a further two years, claim reports

He is believed to take home a net annual income of £18.8m at PSG – estimated to be around £380,000 a week.
And Madrid hope to fund Mbappe’s earnings by dumping highly-paid stars like Spurs loanee Bale, Serbian striker Jovic and midfielder Isco to free up space on their wage bill.
Bale collects a huge £650,000 a week with Jovic on £175,000 and Isco reportedly paid around £123,000.
With the proposed transfer a year away, Madrid don’t see any moral issue with future negotiations over staff wage cuts due to Covid – they assume fans and normal finances will definitely have returned by next summer.
The Spanish side are keen to land the marquee signing to keep pace with clubs powered by wealthy American and Asian owners.
As well as Mbappe, Madrid are targeting moves for Bayern Munich defender David Alaba and Rennes forward Eduardo Camavinga.
French starlet Camavinga, 18, admitted he’s flattered by the interest from the Galacticos but a move ‘depends on several factors’.

Atletico Madrid ace Carrasco drives to training in neighbour’s classic Fiat Panda 4×4 after Storm Filomena batters Spain

ATLETICO MADRID star Yannick CARrasco was forced to drive his neighbour’s retro Fiat Panda to training on Monday morning.
Storm Filomena has battered Spain in recent days leading to record snowfall in the Spanish capital.

And to ensure he made it to the Wanda Metropolitano in time, the Belgian borrowed his neighbour’s old school 4X4 as it ‘goes well on the snow’.
The 1990 model is available for £3,500 in the UK.
A mere two per cent of Carrasco’s £180,000 weekly wage.
Footage surfaced online of the midfielder cruising along the motorway with two laughing passengers – believed to be Thomas Lemar and Šime Vrsaljko.

Marcos Llorente uploaded the footage to Instagram.
And fellow Atletico team-mate Vrsaljko also shared a snap of the tired looking car when the group arrived.
Most members of Atleti’s squad travelled in modern and luxurious 4X4s – some laid on by the club for those players without their own – to help cope with the treacherous roads.
The freak snow storm hit Madrid leaving four dead and thousands of cars stranded over the weekend.

Blizzards blanketed swathes of Spain with driving snow bringing traffic to a grinding halt and grounding dozens of flights as up to 50cm of snow fell.
Atletico finally managed to train around 11:30am on Monday ahead of their home game against Sevilla in LaLiga on Tuesday.
But they had to prepare at their stadium rather than the training ground because of the adverse weather, which put paid to their match against Athletic Bilbao at the weekend.
Atletico boss Diego Simeone said: “There was a great job from all the employees who work on the playing field so that the field is available today so that we can work.
“We came in vans. Obviously, the main highways and roads are fine, but in Madrid urbanisations are difficult to get out of.
“You have to find a way to do it. The point was to be able to get together here and train well, which today we could do very well.”

Man City boost in Messi transfer chase as PSG ‘cannot afford £135m-a-year wages of Barcelona star, Neymar and Mbappe’

MANCHESTER CITY have reportedly been handed a boost in their quest to prise Lionel Messi away from Barcelona on a free transfer.
The 33-year-old is free to negotiate with other clubs having entered the last six months of his contract at the Nou Camp.

And while potential suitors will not have to pay a transfer fee for the six-time Ballon d’Or winner, his hefty wages could prove to be too much for some.
Paris Saint-Germain are known to be huge admirers of the forward, with Mauricio Pochettino desperate to secure his Argentine compatriot’s services.
Real Madrid centre-back Sergio Ramos – who is also out of contract at the end of the season – has allegedly been told that Les Parisiens want to sign both him and Messi.
However French football expert Julien Laurens believes that while PSG will look to nab him, his salary could be a problem due to having Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on their books.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ Transfer Talk podcast, he said: “With Financial Fair Play, the pandemic and how much PSG have been affected like all other big clubs, I don’t know how, just at the payroll level, you could have Neymar, let’s say on €30million-a-year (£27m), Messi on €60m-a-year (£54m) and Mbappe potentially with a new contract on the same amount as Neymar.
“Only those three would be around €150m (£135m), just their salaries, every year.
“Financially, it’s not possible. But they seem to say that they are going to try. But I don’t think it’s realistic.”
Barcelona presidential candidate Agusti Benedito revealed last week that Messi will ‘most likely’ depart the Blaugrana this year.

Messi – who has chipped in with 14 goals in 21 games in all competitions this term – recently addressed the club’s difficult situation following their poor start to the campaign.
He told Spanish TV station La Sexta: “Today I am fine. It is true that I had a very bad time during the summer and before, because of how the season ended.
“Then came the burofax [transfer request]. But now I feel good and wanting to fight for everything we have ahead.
“I’m excited even though the club is going through difficult times. These are difficult times, as for everyone.
“The club is really bad, very bad, it will be difficult to get back to where we were.”
