Atleti 1 Real 1: Benzema scores dramatic late equaliser after Suarez strike in hard-fought Madrid derby

KARIM BENZEMA’S late Madrid derby leveller for Real stopped Luis Suarez’s brilliant opener putting Atletico five points clear in LaLiga.
But in-form Suarez and Co are still three points clear of his old club Barcelona and five above champs Real, with a game in hand on both.

England full-back Kieran Trippier returned from a ten-week betting ban to launch the move that led to ex-Liverpool striker Suarez sweeping home deftly after a quiet first 14 minutes.
Trippier freed Marcos Llorente, who skipped past Nacho and put Suarez clean through.
The Uruguayan legend looked up and, with the outside of his right boot, skilfully swerved the ball beyond the onrushing former Atletico keeper Thibaut Courtois.
Yannick Carrasco almost connected with a cross from Suarez, who was a constant menace.

Courtois then kept out Suarez’s firm volley.
Real, though, pleaded strongly for a penalty just before half-time as Felipe appeared to handle in the area after a corner.
But nothing was given despite referee Alejandro Hernandez watching several replays of the incident.

Atletico kept the upper hand after the break.

But Courtois kept the visitors just one goal in front as he saved well from Carrasco, before smothering a close-range effort from Suarez.
Sub Joao Felix soon fed Suarez but the former Barcelona frontman shot straight at Courtois.
And at the other end Oblak was tested by a shot from distance by Real sub Federico Valverde.

Real started to step up their intensity in the final quarter of an hour, with Oblak making a fantastic double save to thwart Benzema.
But the Frenchman pounced two minutes from time.
After Atletico sloppily gave away possession, Benzema coolly played the ball to Casemiro and carried on his run before slotting into an empty net after a return pass from the Brazilian.

Sergio Ramos ‘has until end of March to decide Real Madrid future with offer in his hands or leave on free transfer’

REAL MADRID have told Sergio Ramos to take or leave an offer to renew his contract, according to reports.
The 34-year-old has been a huge part of the Bernabeu side since joining in 2005, earning the full-time club captaincy after a decade at the club.

But he could be set for a departure this summer when his existing deal expires.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United are among those reportedly waiting to pounce if Ramos becomes available.
According to Marca, Real have given the defender until the end of the month to decide his future.
The one-year extension on the table contains an option for another season in the Spanish capital.

Although it has been said that a ten per cent pay cut will have to be taken if Ramos chooses to stay.
He is thought to earn around £312,000-a-week on a contract signed back in 2015.

With negotiations effectively over until the player makes his decision, the relationship between himself and club president Florentino Perez is described as cordial.
Coach Zinedine Zidane has hit out at reporters asking questions over the saga, despite fan discontent with Real’s handling of the talisman.

At the forefront of the Frenchman’s mind is Ramos’ return from a knee injury, which required surgery in February.
A comeback is mooted for the next couple of weeks and Zidane criticised the speculation over his contract earlier this month.

He declared: “You always ask me the same thing, it’s madness.
“I want him to get fit, but apart from that, nothing else.
“What more should I say about it now? I have no idea.
“I just said that we are only thinking about the game. I want that to be sorted out as soon as possible.”

Wolves ‘willing to listen to Adama Traore transfer offers’ putting Barcelona and Man City on alert over out-of-form ace

WOLVES will listen to transfer offers for out-of-form Adama Traore at the end of the season, reports say.
The winger had interest from Barcelona and Manchester City at the end of the last campaign, but his £70million price tag was deemed as too steep.

According to the Daily Mail, Wolves are still open to moving on Traore, as they look to bring in funds for a summer reshape for Nuno Espirito Santo.
But, with the Spaniard off the pace currently, his value is set to be drastically slashed.
Traore is without a goal and has just one assist in his 26 Premier League games so for this term.
That is compared to the four goals and nine assists he managed last season.

It is understood Leeds inquired about the forward in January but were quickly shut down.
Romain Saiss could also leave with the defender’s contract expiring in the summer, though Wolves have the option to extend it by a year.
The club sold Diogo Jota to Liverpool for £45m last summer and would be looking for a similar sum for Traore, who still hopes to be in Spain’s squad for the delayed Euros.
They are still without star striker Raul Jimenez, who suffered a fractured skull after a collision with Arsenal’s David Luiz in November.

He has recently returned to training, but will not be rushed back into the squad.
Nuno said: “He’s improving really well, we have to be very careful – but we’re keeping positive.
“(We are) missing him but knowing he’s going in the right direction, making the right steps and he’s recovering.
“He will keep improving his fitness, following the protocols, doing exams and consulting the neurosurgeon who operated on him – they’re the next steps. It requires patience.”

Real Madrid paid Brazilian Ronaldo £860,000 a year WITHOUT contract, explosive Football Leaks documents reveal

REAL MADRID paid Ronaldo £860,000-a-year WITHOUT a contract, Football Leaks documents allege.
The legendary Brazilian scored 104 goals in 177 appearances as a star of the Galacticos between 2002 and 2007.

Ronaldo, 44, has since worked as a club ambassador, alongside the likes of Roberto Carlos and Raul.
But according to Football Leaks, in documents shared by German newspaper Der Spiegel, it is claimed that Ronaldo was not given a formal contract by the Bernabeu club.
The leak alleges that Ronaldo therefore has not had to declare this income to tax authorities.
Having retired in 2011, O Fenomeno returned to the game in 2018 – becoming majority owner of Spanish outfit Real Valladolid.

He purchased a 51 per cent stake in the club for a fee believed to be around £26million.
Addressing reporters upon his arrival, Ronaldo said: “I have gone through many stages in my training in football to prepare. Football is a passion.
“This new management will be defined by four words: competitiveness, transparency, revolution and social.”
According to Marca, a motion was passed by the club’s shareholders in December for Ronaldo to receive a salary.

Leeds join Tottenham and AC Milan in Lucas Vazquez transfer race with Real Madrid star available for FREE in summer

LEEDS have joined Tottenham and AC Milan in the race to sign Lucas Vazquez on a free transfer, according to reports.
The Real Madrid winger, 29, is out of contract at the end of the season.

Lucas Vazquez is a transfer target for Leeds as he prepares to become a free agent this summerCredit: Rex Features

And Sport Witness claim Marcelo Bielsa’s side are weighing up an offer for the nine-cap Spain international.
The Whites brought in attackers Helder Costa, Rodrigo and Raphinha on permanent deals last summer – although they face a battle to keep hold of the latter amid growing transfer interest.
The Elland Road club understandably want to bolster the squad as they look to cement their status as a Premier League mainstay once again.
And the three-time Champions League winner would certainly help do that.

Vazquez also boasts two LaLiga titles and three Club World Cup winner’s medals to his name.
In total, the wide man has 26 goals in 233 appearances for Real Madrid.
After struggling for game time last season, he is back in the fold as a first-team regular this term – either on the right wing or at right-back.
But negotiations over a new contract have broken down with Los Blancos, which could result in his 14-year spell with the club ending.

BET OF THE DAY: GET £60 IN FREE BETS BY BETTING £10 ON RACE ONE AT DONCASTER THIS SATURDAY

However, the report suggests Leeds would face a real battle to land Vazquez – especially as they won’t be able to offer European football next term.
Tottenham were linked with the winger a year ago and could reignite their interest.
A reunion with Carlo Ancelotti at Everton could also be on the cards with suggestions the Toffees are monitoring his situation.
Across Europe, Valencia, Sevilla and Napoli may all be possible destinations.
But the report adds it is AC Milan and technical director Paolo Maldini who are ‘more than convinced’ they can lure the Real Madrid academy graduate to Italy.
