According to journalist Loic Tanzi, Campos will not join Nice following weeks of speculation.
Both Arsenal and Real Madrid are now believed to be interested in acquiring the 56-year-old’s services, although it is unclear if he will be hired as a director of football or scout.
After managing nine clubs in his native Portugal, Campos was signed by then Real boss Jose Mourinho as a scout and analyst in 2012.
As manager of Gil Vicente, Campos famously defeated Mourinho’s Porto to end their 27-game unbeaten run.
He then left Real after just a year to become Monaco’s director of football and helped build a team that would eventually win Ligue 1 in 2017.
Under his guidance, the French side signed Radamel Falcao, Fabinho and Bernardo Silva.

Campos then moved to Lille in 2017 and helped build this season’s title winning team, leaving his position in December 2020.
The links between Campos and North London may worry Arsenal’s current technical director Edu.
The ex-Brazil midfielder, who won two Premier League titles at Highbury between 2001 and 2005, has failed to impress since his appointment in July 2019.
Real, meanwhile, may want to bring Campos back to the Bernabeu as they look to rebuild their squad for returning manager Carlo Ancelotti.
It is believed the LaLiga side want to get rid of TEN players this summer and are said to be interested in signing Mbappe – a player Campos knows well.

Aguero’s dad accuses Guardiola of FAKING tears over son’s exit and confirms Arsenal and Chelsea made transfer approaches

SERGIO Aguero’s dad has accused Pep Guardiola of shedding crocodile tears in an astonishing attack on the Manchester City manager. The footballer’s brother Mauricio del Castillo savaged the Spaniard at the weekend by claiming he ‘never wanted’ the veteran striker in a tweet he later deleted after Aguero played his last game for the Citizens.

Pep Guardiola cried when discussing the departing player on Sky SportsCredit: PA
And overnight the star’s dad Leonel took a new pop at Guardiola over his treatment of Aguero after the 33-year-old signed for Barcelona following a record-breaking decade at the Premier League club.
Leonel, who is his son’s agent, also revealed Chelsea and Arsenal were interested in signing the Argentinian forward before he opted for the Catalan club.
Pep broke down in tears after Aguero came off the bench to score two goals against Everton in his final Premier League appearance as he hailed the Argentina international as a ‘special person’ and insisted City ‘cannot replace him’.
Asked on Argentinian radio station Radio La Red if the Man City’s boss’ tears had moved him, Leonel said: “No, I don’t believe him.
“He was never sincere with my son. He never wanted him in my opinion.
“He wants to be the protagonist in his clubs rather than the player.”
Admitting Guardiola had changed football and his training sessions were ‘very good and intense’, he added: “From one day to the next he changes the players, he changes the midfield, you never know if you’re the main choice player or not.
“As Sergio said, things always depend on the club and the manager of the moment and that happens everywhere.

“They say your time is up at the club and the only option you’ve got left is to leave.
“My son was waiting right up to the last moment to renew with City but it didn’t happen.”
Claiming Sergio came close to staying in England, he added: “He is happy right now after signing for Barcelona. I see him happy.
“He didn’t know what was going to happen with his future. There were several clubs interested in signing him.
“Arsenal were interested in him and Chelsea to the last minute.
“If he didn’t stay in England, it was going to be Italy or Spain.
“He’s been friends with Lionel Messi since they were 15 and they’ve always talked.
“It looks like Messi is going to stay at Barcelona so they’re going to play together.”

Aguero’s brother tweeted shortly after City lost the Champions League final to Chelsea on Saturday: “Guardiola never wanted my brother since his arrival at City.”
Asked why he had erased the message by social media followers, Mauricio said: “Many toxic people, too many.”
Warned the message had been seen by another Twitter user, he responded: “Perfect, I’m glad people have seen it. And I’ll write it again if I want.”
The attack caught many people by surprise because of Guardiola’s emotional tribute to the Premier League’s record foreign goalscorer.
Aguero, who turned 33 on Wednesday, has been at the centre of a coronavirus scare since jetting to Argentina following his Barcelona signing to prepare for two World Cup qualifiers and the Copa America.
He tested positive for Covid in a rapid test after arriving but his dad subsequently revealed it had been a ‘false positive’ and said a subsequent test had come back negative.
The footballer was forced to quarantine earlier this year with his partner Sofia Calzetti after they were diagnosed with coronavirus.
Sergio’s dad admitted in his radio interview his son had not received the Covid vaccine while he was in England.

Real Madrid ‘will buy Mbappe as gift for Ancelotti sparking three-way transfer with Cristiano Ronaldo and Icardi’

REAL MADRID will reportedly increase their efforts to sign Kylian Mbappe following Carlo Ancelotti’s appointment. The ex-Everton boss could land the Paris Saint-Germain star this summer, leading to a potential exchange of Cristiano Ronaldo and Mauro Icardi.

Following the merry-go-round of managers Ancelotti, Juventus’ Massimiliano Allegri, and Mauricio Pochettino are assessing their options.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Italian’s arrival in Madrid will lead to the club attempting to sign Mbappe as a ‘gift’ to the coach.
Real failed to win a trophy in 2020-21 and linking up the striker with France team-mate Karim Benzema is seen as a surefire route to success.
On Wednesday night, the pair combined in a 3-0 friendly win over Wales.
Mbappe, 22, is out of contract in 12 months’ time leading to lengthy talks with PSG over his future.
If a deal cannot be agreed, Madrid are said to be confident that they can swoop in and nab their number one target for a relatively cheap fee.

Pulling off the deal will lead to Les Parisiens seeking a new star forward to play alongside Neymar – and that is where Ronaldo comes in.
The 36-year-old is also entering the final year of his Juve contract and financial difficulties in Turin have led to speculation over whether the club would sanction a sale.
PSG are predicted to come in for Ronaldo if Mbappe leaves, whereby Juventus would seek to sign Icardi.

The Argentine striker has long been a target for the Bianconeri, leading to rumours of Inter Milan putting an anti-Juve clause in the deal that sent him to Paris.
The exact details of the swap remain to be seen and the Italian giants have also been linked with trading Ronaldo for Paul Pogba.
One alternative replacement for the Portuguese star is Marseille star Arkadiusz Milik, according to reports in Italy.

According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Barcelona have been monitoring Kounde for two years and now want to sign him.
But the Catalan giants are said to be struggling to afford the player’s rumoured €75million release clause – around £64.5m.
It is believed Sergio Aguero’s new club may offer some players as part of a swap deal to help fund a move.
Kounde’s international colleague Samuel Umtiti is rumoured to be one of those stars Barca manager Ronald Koeman is happy to let go.
Real Madrid are also thought to be keeping a close eye on the Sevilla defender as they may need to replace Raphael Varane this summer.

Reports also suggest Sevilla are expecting Kounde’s alleged release clause to be activated this summer by a top European side – and may even sell him for as little as £56m.
United, Arsenal and Chelsea have all been linked with the France international – and cannot be ruled out of this transfer saga.
Speaking to the press ahead of Euro 2020, Kounde said: “I’m at a great club right now, but obviously I would like to evolve into a bigger team.

“We will see what the future holds, but it is something that is in my head.”
Kounde has enjoyed a stellar two years at Sevilla, helping them win the Europa League in 2019-20 and to qualify for the Champions League this term.
He’s made 63 LaLiga appearances since his reported €25m move from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux in 2019 and earned a place in France’s highly-competitive Euro 2020 squad.

Man Utd revive transfer interest in Kieran Trippier with Solskjaer ‘unhappy’ with Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s attacking output

MANCHESTER UNITED are reportedly in the hunt for Kieran Trippier as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to improve his options at right-back.Aaron Wan-Bissaka was the only natural option for the position throughout the 2020-21 season and the Red Devils manager is said to have reservations about relying on the 23-year-old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly wants an alternative to Aaron Wan-BissakaCredit: AP
According to Manchester Evening News, the incumbent’s offensive output disappointed Solskjaer.
The stats do not favour Wan-Bissaka, who has long been seen as a primarily defensive player.
For example, fellow full-back Luke Shaw completed more than half his tally of key passes (72 to 31) and contributed one more assist (five to four) in the recent Premier League campaign.
Therefore United are reportedly looking at Trippier as a signing who could offer something different and help break defences down.
Atletico Madrid signed the 30-year-old from Tottenham two years ago and he was a regular in the Spaniards’ LaLiga title win.
But he is out of contract in 2022 and a fee well below the £20million that Atleti paid for him is thought to be enough to tempt a sale.

It is said that Manchester-born Trippier is already making arrangements to return to England and be closer to his family.
And interest in his services could increase if he stars for England at Euro 2020.
On Wednesday, the ex-Manchester City defender showed his versatility by switching to the left side of defence for the 1-0 win over Austria.
Trippier recently played down any talk of leaving Madrid and expressed his delight at making the squad despite fears he would be forgotten while playing abroad.
He said: “I’m enjoying myself so much out there.
“I’m just fully focused on doing the best I can for my club. I’m absolutely delighted I won the title out there.
I’m enjoying myself, loving it, my family are enjoying it, there’s sunshine every single day.Kieran Trippier

“People might not focus on me as much because I’m out there in Spain, the Premier League is the Premier League.
“But I’m enjoying myself, loving it, my family are enjoying it, there’s sunshine every single day so I just need to keep doing as well as I can for Atletico.
“I’m delighted I’ve done that and now I’m part of England. I know Gareth watches the games along with his staff.
“So for me it’s just about doing as well as I can at the highest level to try to be selected for as long as I can with the national team.”

The first result threatened to keep the 33-year-old out of Argentina’s upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Chile and Colombia and the Copa America later this summer.
But his father Leonel del Castillo confirmed it was just a false alarm.
Aguero is believed to have tested positive after a rapid test carried out at the Argentinian Football Association’s HQ in Buenos Aires.
The Manchester City legend took the test soon after his arrival for international duty on Tuesday morning – his 33rd birthday.
There were initial fears he would have to quarantine for the second time this year.
But his dad confirmed his son returned a negative PCR test result soon after.
He told radio station La Red: “He took five tests last week and yesterday’s AFA test was positive but they already did another more complex test and it was negative.

Aguero was forced to quarantine with girlfriend Sofia Calzetti in February after the pair contracted the virus then.
Argentina host Chile at 1am UK time on Friday before they travel to Colombia on Wednesday.
Aguero will leave the Etihad at the end of the month and join Barcelona on a free transfer after agreeing personal terms and completing his medical at the Nou Camp.
He also shelled out a staggering £60,000 to buy every single member of Man City’s backroom staff a watch – AND enter them into a raffle to win his brand new car as he departed.
According to The Athletic, the Man City icon bought everyone either a Tag Heuer of Hublot watch, with some models – including the Tag Heuer Formula 1, valued at up to £1,650.
Each watch was engraved with the words: “Gracias! Kun Aguero.”
The striker also entered every member of staff into a raffle to win his Range Rover Evoque.
It’s claimed one of Aguero’s favourite Man City employees won the car – one of the City kit men.
The Athletic claim Aguero is a fan of the unnamed member of staff’s ‘work ethic and personality’.
The generous Argentine is also said to have contributed ‘far above’ the norm to the end-of-season kitty that goes towards staff Christmas presents later in the year.

The ex-Everton chief was unveiled following six years away after predecessor Zinedine Zidane quit last week.
And straight away Ancelotti offered hope to under-fire big names like Wales superstar Bale, skipper Sergio Ramos, ex-Chelsea playmaker Hazard, midfield creator Isco and left-back Marcelo.
But although volunteering that he “loved” Cristiano Ronaldo, Ancelotti refused to speak publicly about trying to re-sign the Juventus ace, 36.
He said: “I’ve just arrived. Have to talk about Ramos with the club in the next few days.
“I have a lot of love still for Gareth Bale, Isco, Marcelo… they will have motivation to show they can still play for Real Madrid.
“Eden Hazard? He’s a top player, he’ll show his skills. Hazard and Bale can be so important for us.”
Of Real legend Ron, Ancelotti noted: “I’ve a great relationship with Cristiano Ronaldo, I love him…
“But it’s not correct to talk about Cristiano as he’s under contract with Juventus.”
And he also suggested defensive icon Ramos, 35, can remain a mainstay.

Mourinho was informally approached by Real at the end of last week before they made contact again over the weekend, according to the Telegraph.
Both Mourinho and Ancelotti have previously managed Real.
But Mourinho – who was sacked by Tottenham in April – made it clear he had no interest in a return as he had agreed to take the Roma job and is excited by the challenge ahead.
Real’s Champions League status is in doubt next season with the threat of a Uefa ban hanging over their heads as a result of their involvement in the renegade European Super League plot.
They also have crippling debts in the region of £1BILLION which could limit their spending.
Despite their woes, Real managed to persuade Everton to part with Ancelotti swiftly.
And they announced the Italian as their new boss on Tuesday.
The LaLiga giants had been on the hunt for a new boss ever since Zidane’s departure last week following a sub-par 2020-21 campaign.

Ancelotti is returning to the club he managed between 2013 and 2015 on a three-year deal.
The 61-year-old had been under contract at Goodison Park until the end of the 2023-24 season.
But after the Toffees’ Champions League pursuit crumbled – eventually finishing the season in tenth – Ancelotti terminated his contract to head back to the Spanish capital.
The former Chelsea boss said: “I would like to thank the board of directors, the players, and the Evertonians for the tremendous support they have all given me during my time at the club.
“I have complete respect for everyone associated with Everton and hope they can achieve the exciting opportunities they have in front of them.
