Leeds target Real Madrid youngster Miguel Gutierrez but face battle to convince Zidane to approve transfer

LEEDS have reportedly been dealt a blow in their pursuit to sign Real Madrid starlet Miguel Gutierrez in the summer. The 19-year-old left-back is highly-rated by boss Zinedine Zidane, with the defender featuring as a substitute in the last three LaLiga matches.

Big things are expected of the Spain youth international, who has been rumoured to be the subject of a failed bid from Tottenham.
And now El Espanol have claimed that Leeds are looking to try their luck in luring the teenager to the Premier League.
The Yorkshire outfit are on the lookout for a new full-back with Ezgjan Alioski set to depart Elland Road when his contract expires at the end of the season.
It has been said that the Whites are huge admirers of Gutierrez, with Marcelo Bielsa of the belief he can further develop his talents as he has done with Pascal Struijk and Kalvin Phillips.
But it appears unlikely that Leeds will nab the player, as Zidane looks for him to provide regular competition for Ferland Mendy next campaign.
The news outlet states that Los Blancos are keen to sell Marcelo in the upcoming transfer window, where they will promote Gutierrez to be the back-up left-back.
And Leeds know they are facing an uphill battle in being able to convince Zidane in letting the ex-Getafe academy ace leave.
Speaking last year, Spain’s U-17 manager David Gordo backed Gutierrez to be one of Europe’s top defender’s in the future.

Levante 3 Barcelona 3 LIVE REACTION: Messi nets but Barca miss chance to go top of La Liga after TWICE losing lead

    THAT’S ALL FROM LEVANTE
Barcelona wasted a golden opportunity to climb up to the top of LaLiga after drawing 3-3 with Levante at the Ciutat de Valencia.
Barca started strong as they opened the scoring with Lionel Messi’s fine finish on 25 minutes.
The Blaugrana doubled their lead just nine minutes later with Pedri and went back to the dressing room at half-time with a two-goal lead.
However, Ronald Koeman’s men saw their comfortable cushion disappear inside two minutes when Gonzalo Melero and Jose Luis Morales equalised for Levante with some beautiful finishes.
Barcelona regained their lead just five minutes later with Ousmane Dembele but the Frogs wouldn’t be denied as Sergio Leon equalised again soon after.
Thanks for following the live action with us, have a lovely night!

    MELERO REACTS
Levante star Gonzalo Melero is very pleased with the result.
Melero said: “We were 0-2 at halftime against a whole Barcelona and it tastes very good to us, of course.
“We knew what we were doing right and what we had done wrong. You have to appreciate the point for the entity of the rival.
“They generate a lot with little. The key was to refine more in the final meters, where we had hardly even shot.
“In the second half we were more effective and we also defended better. They are always beautiful against Barcelona here, really.
“Hopefully the fans will be able to see this type of game again soon. We got our best version in the second part”
    GETTY IMAGES
    BUSQUETS REACTS
Barcelona star Sergio Busquets didn’t sound too confident ahead of the next two matches.
Busquets said: “We leave with bad feelings because we had it difficult but we wanted to put pressure but it could not be.
“We have had advantages on the scoreboard but, as has happened during part of the season, they have made us easy goals, they have created difficulties for us and the point is not enough because LaLiga is sentenced against us.
“We are not precise. They have taken advantage of it. But even so we have had a clear chance of Frenkie [De Jong], of Pedri, but it could not be.
“We have not had a good second half. We have few options. It will depend on the rivals but this is our fault, of decisions, of concentration.
“They make goals easy for us. We were a stretch of the season well that we were with the spark that we are not.
“We have left many points to be able to fight with LaLiga. Mathematically no, and it was not this match”
    GETTY IMAGES
    DROPPING POINTS
Barcelona have experienced a season with many ups and downs.
And Ronald Koeman’s men are going to need a couple of more ups to win the title as today’s result poses as a very devastating down.
Barca’s campaign would have been a lot more different if they hadn’t given up so many leads.

Barcelona got the better numbers but their title hopes may still be in tatters
    FT: LEVANTE 3-3 BARCELONA
Barcelona’s title hopes have been dealt another major blow at Levante’s Ciutat de Valencia.

However, Levante came back from half-time much improved and equalised in just two minutes with Gonzalo Melero and Jose Luis Morales.

Arsenal ‘consider transfers for Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard to replace Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’

ARSENAL are putting together a shortlist reportedly including Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Dembele as part of their summer overhaul.Mikel Arteta has hinted at a very busy transfer window currently under construction at the Emirates following a disappointing campaign.

Odsonne Edouard is another reportedly being watched by ArsenalCredit: The Sun
Last night, SunSport revealed that Hector Bellerin is among the stars on the chopping block.
And Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi, David Luiz and more are being readied for a move.
According to the Telegraph, French striker Lacazette could be joined by Eddie Nketiah in leaving this summer, with two stars eyed as replacements.
Lyon forward Dembele, 24, has spent the second half of the season on loan at Atletico Madrid but is yet to score for the LaLiga leaders.
Still yet to start for his new club, the Frenchman can move for a pre-agreed £30million fee in the summer but his poor form and fitness issues make that an increasingly unlikely option.
Dembele remains under contract at Lyon for another two years yet is reportedly available for around £25m should Atleti let him go.
A slightly cheaper option, at around £15m to £20m, is said to be Celtic star Edouard.
The SPFL runners-up may seek to cash in on the 23-year-old ahead of his contract expiring in 2022.

The striker has hit 21 goals in all competitions for the Glasgow outfit this season.
But any Arsenal approach may come up against fierce competition from Leicester, who are also thought to be keen and are set to be able to offer Champions League football next season.
The Gunners maintain an outside shot at a Europa League or Europa Conference League finish and travel to high-flying Chelsea on Wednesday.

Barcelona ‘want to offer Chelsea Miralem Pjanic in swap transfer for Jorginho’ after career revival under Thomas Tuchel

BARCELONA are reportedly keen to sign Chelsea midfielder Jorginho in the summer and are willing to offer Miralem Pjanic in exchange. The Bosnian moved to the Nou Camp in a high-profile switch from Juventus last year, but he has failed to live up to expectations in Spain.

According to Sport, Barca are keen to offload the player at the end of the season, and have identified in-form Jorginho as a possible replacement.
The Catalan side are even exploring the viability of a swap deal involving the pair.
However it remains to be seen if the West Londoners would be persuaded into a deal considering Jorginho’s recent stunning displays.
The midfielder has been transformed under Thomas Tuchel.
By contrast Pjanic, 31, is yet to score or provide an assist in any of his 28 outings in all competitions this season.
And he has fallen out of favour under Ronald Koeman, with the ex-Roma ace without a LaLiga appearance since February 24.
It was claimed earlier this month that Chelsea are prepared to open contract talks with Jorginho, who has chipped in with seven goals in 38 matches.
And his agent declared in April that the ex-Napoli ace is going nowhere as he insisted his future remains at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Santos told TuttoMercatoWeb: “[Jorginho] has a two-year contract with Chelsea.
“He’s thinking about playing in the Euros and then the World Cup in Qatar.
“He will remain at Chelsea, 100 per cent.”
Jorginho did, however, revealed earlier in the season that he wishes to return to Serie A side Napoli ‘one day’.

Man City defender Eric Garcia ‘completes Barcelona free transfer’ as he signs pre-contract to 2026 amid Arsenal interest

A move back to Spain has been on the cards since last year after Ronald Koeman failed to secure his services.
It has been claimed that Garcia has even agreed to take a pay-cut in order to link up with the LaLiga giants.
Despite being heavily linked with Barcelona, Arsenal and Chelsea were rumoured to be interested in the youngster.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta knows the player well having worked alongside Pep Guardiola at the Etihad, but Garcia has only ever had eyes on returning to Catalonia.
And according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, no other clubs besides Barca have been in talks with the Spain international.
He tweeted: “Eric Garcia has signed his pre-contract until June 2026 with Barcelona since December.
“No other club has been in talks – Eric only wanted to join Barca.
“[Barcelona president Joan] Laporta also approved the deal and it’s going to be announced at the end of the season.”

Garcia has been limited to just ten appearances in all competitions for City this term after falling down the pecking order.
Ruben Dias, John Stones and Aymeric Laporte are the preferred options, while Nathan Ake has also seen more game time.
Speaking of Garcia after City’s Carabao Cup final victory over Tottenham, Guardiola said: “There are players even who don’t play any matches.
“I think, for example, of Eric Garcia who is one of my favourite players.
“I would love to have 15 Eric Garcia’s for the way he conducts his behaviour. He is always thinking of the team.

“He’s always a good face in the good or bad moments. He helps the manager and the backroom staff all the time.”
Before adding: “He will go in an incredible team and when the people say they are unsatisfied if I don’t play, I think of Eric.
“Most of the time he’s not on the bench because he’s going to move to Barcelona, I hope so. It’s tough, but it is what it is.”

    THAT’S ALL FROM MADRID!
Real Madrid missed their chance to catch up with Atletico Madrid at the top of the table after drawing 2-2 with Sevilla.
Real thought they opened the scoring in the opening minutes of first half with Karim Benzema’s header but Alvaro Odriozola, who provided the cross, was caught offside by VAR.
Sevilla drew first blood after 22 minutes when a cross from Jesus Navas from the right flank found Ivan Rakitic, who headed the ball down to Fernando and the midfielder beat Thibaut Courtois with a fine shot.
Real equalised in the second half with Marco Asensio just a few seconds after his introduction to the game on 67 minutes.
Los Blancos thought they were awarded a penalty when Yassine Bounou brought Benzema down inside the box but VAR showed that Eder Militao handed the ball in his own box during the build-up.
Rakitic stepped up and beat Courtois with ease from the penalty spot after 78 minutes.
It seemed like Sevilla were on their way to a famous victory but Toni Kroos’ long-range shot got a deflection off Diego Carlos and beat Bounou to make it all even in the fourth minute of stoppage time.
That’s all from us here in Madrid, have a great night!
    GETTY IMAGES
    MODRIC REACTS
Real Madrid star Luka Modric described Eder Militao’s handball as “fortuitous” and insists his team will keep on fighting for the title.
Modric said: “We have let two points go. We played better, but it couldn’t be.
“Militao’s penalty was a fortuitous move, bad luck, if he has seen it he will have whistled it, I cannot say more.
“It was difficult for us to get into the game, but the second half we did everything to win. A shame but we are still there, alive, we are going to fight until the end.
“I’m fine, I think the team really wants to play what remains and try to win all three and see what happens in the other games. It’s weird, we wanted to depend on ourselves, now we don’t.
“But you have to think about ours first. We have seen that everyone loses points, you have to have faith. We did everything to win the game, we deserved it, but we kept going ”
    GETTY IMAGES
    RAKITIC REACTS
Sevilla star Ivan Rakitic scored from the penalty spot following Eder Militao’s handball and insists it was the right call.
Rakitic said: “I think we were closer to winning the game. We did a great first half, but they were better in the second.
“We have fought with one of the best in the league, which is our goal, to fight with the best.
“For me it is a clear hand. If it is a hand, it is a hand, it does not matter if it is voluntary or not, but here we can enter into what each one interprets.
“I think the referee was right and we can close this issue pretty quickly. Today the VAR has benefited us and not on Monday.
“For me, if it is a hand, it is a hand and that’s it, bad luck. If we go into interpreting each one can have their opinion.
“We should be proud of what we are doing. We will fight to the end ”

    REAL EQUALISER
Here’s how Real Madrid equalised at the closing stages of the match.
Kroos fired a long-range shot that caught a crucial deflection.
Some have argued it was from Real team-mate Eden Hazard, but it seems like the culprit was Sevilla’s Diego Carlos.
Therefore, it all comes down to an own goal that Yassine Bounou couldn’t have possibly saved
