      Real Madrid transfer interest in Erling Haaland confirmed by Dortmund chief after striker seemed to wave goodbye to fans

      BORUSSIA DORTMUND boss Hans-Joachim Watzke confirmed Real Madrid’s transfer interest in Erling Haaland. The Norwegian, who has 76 goals in 75 Dortmund appearances, has long been linked with the Spanish giants.

      Haaland, 21, is still contracted until 2024 but his release clause, believed to be £68million, is not active until next year.
      And in an interview with BILD TV, Dortmund CEO Watzke opened up on Madrid’s pursuit of the striker.
      He said: “No matter where I go, everyone speaks to you about Erling Haaland. 
      “All I know is a guarantee that Real Madrid are very interested in him. I could name 25 others now. 
      “But I know for sure, it can be that he leaves, but it can also be that he stays. 
      “A few days ago I had a very good conversation with Mino Raiola. When we are in a target corridor, the conversations are always quite friendly.

      “And that phone call was quite friendly. We will certainly have another meeting in the next few weeks. 
      “The overall development of Haaland is in the foreground. Just like with Lewandowski, I would like to be proud of Erling at some point if he wins the Champions League. 
      “Personally, I think it’s good for him if he stays in the Bundesliga a little longer.”
      Super-agent Raiola was also recently forced to deny claims Haaland had an agreement in place with Barcelona or Madrid.
      Raiola said: “Can Haaland wait for Barcelona? Haaland can wait for everyone.
      “We don’t have a pre-agreement with any club. We will look for the best option and we don’t rule out another year in Dortmund, either, theoretically it’s still possible.”
      With Haaland set to be available for a cut-price deal next year, it is likely the forward could be prized away.
      And the hitman raised questions about his Dortmund future after he waved to supporters following their 3-0 win over Furth last Wednesday – their last home match of the year.

      Barcelona ‘interest in re-signing Marc Bartra in shock transfer as Xavi hopes to link up with Real Betis defender again’

      MARC BARTRA is rumoured to be attracting interest from his old club Barcelona with the Nou Camp giants looking to boost their defence. But they could face a tug-of-war for the Real Betis star’s services with AC Milan also thought to be keen.

      Reports in Spain claim the Catalan side have been in contact with their LaLiga rivals over a possible swoop for the centre-back.
      Bartra, 30, made 103 Barca appearances before a 2016 switch to Borussia Dortmund during Thomas Tuchel’s tenure. 
      And the Spain international sealed a January 2018 move to Betis after making 53 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
      The centre-back, whose Betis team face Athletic next, is said to have impressed with his defensive skills during his side’s 1-0 away defeat of Barca on December 4.
      And Nou Camp chief Xavi is thought to have admired the efforts of the player who managed to keep Memphis Depay and Barcelona’s frontline quiet.
      Betis are currently third in Spain’s top-flight – nine points behind leaders Real Madrid – after winning 10 and drawing three of the 17 games played this term.

      And the side, managed by Manuel Pellegrini, are also five places above Barca who have endured a disappointing start to their LaLiga campaign.

      Edinson Cavani ‘rejects Boca Juniors transfer because Man Utd striker has already agreed to join Barcelona’

      MANCHESTER UNITED striker Edinson Cavani has reportedly turned down a move to Argentine side Boca Juniors in favour of a switch to Barcelona. Cavani has been linked with Barcelona in the past, and the Spaniards remain the 34-year-old’s first choice destination in January.

      The Manchester United man has been in contact with Boca Juniors chiefs and informed them of his decision to join Barcelona, according to Argentine outlet TyC Sports.
      Barca are in need of another striker after Sergio Aguero was forced to emotionally retire due to heart problems.
      And Cavani is the man lined up to replace Aguero at the Nou Camp.
      The Uruguayan, capped 126 times by his country, has stated his desire to continue testing himself at the top level.
      Cavani’s contract at Old Trafford expires in the summer after he signed a one-year extension at the end of last season.
      But he could well be on his way as early as January.

      Aubameyang’s absence from the squad is said to have come after he returned a day late from picking up his mother in France.
      It could signal the beginning of the end of the striker’s Arsenal career.
      He was also left on the bench for the 2-1 defeat to Everton last Monday, with Alexandre Lacazette instead preferred from the start.
      The 32-year-old only has 18 months left to run on his current contract so Arsenal could be tempted to cash in as soon as possible.

      De Jong’s dad, John, has confirmed that the five ‘top’ European clubs have enquired about the 24-year-old, including Bayern Munich.
      However, he hinted that the cold weather in both Manchester and Munich could put his son off from leaving sunny Spain.
      He told Dutch outlet AD: “It’s often bad weather there. Of course it’s about football, but it does matter. 
      “Of course I know that Barcelona needs money and a great offer for Frenkie could help, but I don’t see it happening anytime soon. 
      “Although, the five top European clubs have all called.”
      De Jong is yet to really hit top gear at Camp Nou since his £65million move from Ajax in 2019, and is thought to no longer be considered ‘untouchable’ by Barcelona.

      Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano though claims negotiations are yet to get underway.
      Barcelona boss Xavi has also poured cold water over a potential move for De Jong.
      He told reporters: “Our goal is for Frenkie to be happy here.

      Barcelona star Sergio Aguero will retire aged 33 due to heart problems this WEEK, according to sensational reports

      MANCHESTER CITY Sergio Aguero will announce his retirement from football on Wednesday halfway through his first season with Barcelona because of his heart problems, a leading Catalan newspaper has reported. The struggling La Liga side was forced to deny reports last month the Argentinian 33-year-old had decided to quit after Barcelona journalist and streamer Gerard Romero claimed Aguero was set to call time on his career.

      Respected daily newspaper El Periodico said on Monday morning that the striker’s club had prepared an official act this Wednesday at which Aguero would confirm he was leaving the game.
      It said he would be confirming his decision to retire because a “cardiac injury” prevented him from playing at the highest level.
      El Periodico said the preparations had been “finalised” and Aguero’s “farewell act” would take place the day after Barcelona play the Maradona Cup against Boca Juniors in Saudi Arabia.
      The friendly match will be played in honour of Aguero’s father-in-law Diego Maradona who died from heart failure aged 60 on November 25 last year.
      Newly-resigned Barcelona right-back Dani Alves is expected to make his debut in the game in the Saudi capital Riyadh.
      Aguero’s future has been the subject of speculation since he was taken to hospital after clutching his chest and complaining of breathing problems and dizziness during a game against Alaves at the end of October.

      SHOCK reports emerging from Spain suggest Barcelona are ready to test Manchester United’s resolve with an audacious bid for Marcus Rashford. Barcelona are desperate for a frontman to lead the line after Sergio Aguero’s health scare, and Luuk de Jong firmly out of favour among fans.
