And that means, as things stand, they will become free agents this time next year.
So SunSport decided to compile the best team possible made up of those tied down until 2022.
    Andre Onana
The Ajax goalkeeper may be serving a doping ban but can return from that next season – Arsenal and Lyon are battling it out to sign the Cameroon international.
    Niklas Sule
Forming part of a back three, the defender could be let go by Bayern Munich at the end of the 2021-22 campaign, especially with the arrival of Dayot Upamecano.
    Raphael Varane
It was Sergio Ramos this year and Varane next for Real Madrid, with the World Cup winner unable to agree on a new deal – Manchester United are looking to pounce this summer, though.

    John Stones
The Manchester City man enjoyed a brilliant season alongside player-of-the-year Ruben Dias, earning himself an England recall and surely a new deal at the Etihad.
    Ousmane Dembele
Another player linked with United, the Barcelona wide man is struggling to make progress in contract negotiations at the Nou Camp – and his four-month injury lay-off will not help his chances of earning a new deal.
    Eduardo Camavinga
Camavinga has attracted plenty of interest from United, PSG and Real Madrid with the French teenager tipped for great things – although Rennes may cash in this summer with a £26million Old Trafford switch.
    Paul Pogba
Should Camavinga arrive in Manchester in 2022, though, he may not play alongside compatriot Pogba, with Mino Raiola desperate to get his high-profile client a mega transfer, possibly to the Bernabeu.
    Ansu Fati
The comparisons have been made with Lionel Messi due to his breakthrough as a teenager at the Nou Camp – but now he could follow in the Argentine’s footsteps by running down his deal.

    Pedri
Like Fati, Barcelona are at risk of losing another ridiculous young talent with Pedri, one of the stars of the Euros, also out of contract with no shortage of admirers.
    Kylian Mbappe
PSG are determined to get Mbappe to commit his future to the club but he is not convinced just yet, especially with the prospect of an easy switch to Real Madrid in 12 months.
    Cristiano Ronaldo
As with Mbappe, there has been plenty of talk about Ronaldo’s future this summer – but that will only intensify at the end of the upcoming season if he does not pen a new deal at Juventus with United, PSG and Sporting Lisbon among the possible destinations.
    Other mentions
Among the other top players whose contracts expire on June 30, 2022 are Leon Goretzka, Marcel Sabitzer, Lorenzo Insigne, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Paulo Dybala, Franck Kessie and Dani Carvajal.
Some of the Premier League stars include Chelsea defenders Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, Arsenal strikers Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette as well as Everton’s Colombian ace James Rodriguez.

According to the Mirror, the former Southampton man is open to playing for Wales at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022 should they qualify for the tournament that starts in November.
They also state that Bale has no intention of playing for another team once his £600,000-a-week deal comes to an end in Spain.
He is said to have told family and friends that Los Blancos will be the last club he competes for.
With former boss Carlo Ancelotti back in the dugout at Real, Bale believes he will be given more first-team opportunities.
Bale was frozen out under Zinedine Zidane, resulting in him returning to Tottenham on loan for the 2020-21 campaign.
He showed flashes of brilliance as he chipped in with 16 goals in 34 games, with 11 of his strikes coming from 20 Premier League outings.
The forward was asked about his international future following Wales’ Euro 2020 exit at the hands of Denmark.
After being asked whether it would be his last game, Bale stormed off from his TV interview where he refused to answer the question.

Following criticism from fans for how he reacted, Bale later vowed to carry on playing for Wales until he stops playing football.
He told Welsh TV channel S4C: “I want to continue to play.
“People ask stupid questions all the time, but obviously I love playing for Wales.
“I’ll play for Wales until the day that I stop playing football.”
Wales, who haven’t featured in a World Cup since 1958, have three points from their opening two qualifying games in Group E.
They face Belarus and Estonia in their next two games before pitting their wits against Czech Republic.

Barcelona unable to give Lionel Messi new contract until they slash wage bill as LaLiga refuse to extend salary limit

He has agreed to sign a new two-year deal to stay in Catalunya, but LaLiga wage limits are proving a problem.
Sport in Spain claim that Barcelona must offload more players and slash their wage bill before Messi can sign.
The 34-year-old is expected to take a massive pay cut on his last deal – which was worth £2.4million per week.
Barcelona president Joan Laporta last week urged fans to stay calm as he looks to tie up Messi’s new deal.
He said: “We want Lionel Messi to stay and Leo wants to stay.
    “Everything is on track.
“We have the issue of Financial Fair Play, we are in the process of finding the best solution for both parties.”

The fact Messi is now not a Barcelona player is also bad news for sponsors, such as kit manufacturers Nike who cannot include him in adverts for the time being.
‘Messi 10’ shirts cannot be sold in the club shop, either.
The forward is also likely to be exempt from the Barcelona medical cover so the Nou Camp side would not receive compensation if he picked up an injury.
They will get up to £17,600 per day while Ousmane Dembele, who was injured playing for France at Euro 2020, recovers from surgery under the Fifa Protection Programme.

Barcelona have had a busy summer of transfers with four new arrivals and five departures.
Memphis Depay, Sergio Aguero and Eric Garcia have all arrived on free transfers along with £6m signing Emerson Royal.
But Messi is one of five players who have technically left the club along with Matheus Fernandes, Juan Miranda, Trincao and Jean-Clair Todibo.

Kylian Mbappe ‘wants BANNED clause inserted in new PSG contract’ to allow Real Madrid transfer

KYLIAN MBAPPE wants to insert a BANNED clause into any new Paris Saint-Germain contract to allow a transfer to Real Madrid, according to reports. The French forward, 22, has one year left to run on his current deal at the Parc des Princes.
Kylian Mbappe’s future remains unclear with no exit clauses permitted in Ligue 1 contractsCredit: AP
He continues to be linked with a move away with Real Madrid and Liverpool both keen.
And according to Marca via Bild, he will only put pen to paper on an extension if PSG include an exit clause.
That would mean Mbappe could secure a departure if a certain club – in this case Los Blancos – made a suitable bid.
PSG would therefore get their star man tied down to a new contract so he would not leave for free next summer.
And Mbappe would keep his employers happy while stopping himself from being frozen out of a dream transfer to the Bernabeu.
However, exit clauses are outlawed in Ligue 1.
So the arrangement cannot be written into the legal documents.
Instead, Mbappe would need to sort a verbal agreement with PSG bosses.

The relationship between the striker and the club is good and PSG chiefs will be reluctant to do anything that will scupper their chances to keeping Mbappe beyond next summer.
As things stand, he would only leave in the current transfer window with PSG’s blessing – although it is unlikely anyone will be able to afford him anyway due to the financial impact of coronavirus.
However, reports this week suggested a bust-up between the two parties as Mbappe went off on holiday.
Before that, president Nasser Al-Khelaifi stepped in to take over the talks to try and tie Mbappe down to the new deal.
A source told Get French Football News: “Nasser gets on very well with the family and has done since Kylian’s signing in 2017.

“There is a real respect between them.”
Any new deal is expected to see Mbappe rewarded with a slight pay rise from his current £430k-a-week pre-tax package.
But Mbappe is thought to be more concerned with the Parc des Princes project – and wants to see Achraf Hakimi and Gianluigi Donnarumma follow Georginio Wijnaldum into the club.
He scored 42 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions last season but it was a campaign that ended in disappointment for PSG after their Ligue 1 and Champions League failures.
PSG are particularly desperate not to allow Mbappe to leave with the 2022 World Cup being staged in Qatar, where PSG’s owner Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani is the head of state.

But with just one year remaining on his contract, the towering defender wants to try something new.
The Red Devils finally wrapped up the £73million signing of Jadon Sancho this week.
And club chiefs want to follow up the statement purchase by recruiting Varane.
According to Spanish newspaper Sport, the feeling is mutual, with Varane eager to join United and telling them as much.
They also claim that his Real Madrid departure this summer is ‘inevitable’.
ABC Sports even claim that Varane has agreed personal terms with the Red Devils.
But the two clubs are yet to agree a fee.
Real Madrid are thought to want around £51.5m for their star centre-back’s services – despite him being free to talk to other clubs in January.

They could, however, find a compromise.
SunSport exclusively revealed on Saturday that United could sweeten a deal by including midfielder Donny van de Beek.
The Dutchman, 24, has struggled at Old Trafford, making just four starts in the Premier League since joining for £35m last summer.
Real Madrid remain keen on him, however, having nearly signed him last year.
The LaLiga giants are struggling financially, but United’s co-operation could help move along a deal for Varane.
Madrid want to take Van de Beek initially on loan, paying a £2m fee upfront before buying him permanently next summer.
He returned to United pre-season training this morning, but where he’ll be playing his football next term remains up in the air.

New Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici is aiming to bolster his squad for the coming season, following Nuno Espirito Santo’s appointment.
And the Italian, 48, could look towards a star that he already knows well.
Paratici, alongside Giuseppe Marotta, brought Pjanic to Juve from Roma in 2016.
And according to Diario Sport, he wants to work with him again in North London.
They claim that he has already made an enquiry to Barcelona over taking Pjanic on a season-long loan deal.
But the Catalan giants reportedly want to get rid of him outright.
And despite spending around £51.5million on him just a year ago, Barca are willing to let him leave for free.
Barcelona are struggling financially, with newly re-elected club president Joan Laporta desperate to get players off the wage bill.

    🎾 BETTING SPECIAL 🎾

They are being crippled by Lionel Messi’s huge salary demands, but are desperate to keep the legendary Argentine, whose contract officially expired this week.
To be able to afford an extension, Mundo Deportivo claim that they are willing to give players away.
Barcelona have already terminated Matheus Fernandes’ contract, having paid around £8.5m for him in 2020.
And Pjanic could be next – followed by Samuel Umtiti.
The midfielder made 30 appearances for Barca, but struggled to get into Ronald Koeman’s side in the second half of the campaign – playing just 20 minutes of their last 14 LaLiga matches.
Umtiti, meanwhile, has struggled with injuries – but has made 132 appearances for the club since joining in 2016.
Barca are hoping to lower their wage bill by around £170m-per-year this summer, in order to keep hold of Messi.
They have been busy so far in the market, however, signing Memphis Depay, Eric Garcia and Sergio Aguero on free transfers.

Lyon born Benzema was a surprise inclusion in France’s squad, having not played for the national team for the previous five years.
But he could not drive them on to glory as they crashed out in the last 16 to Switzerland on penalties.
He had not played for the reigning world champions since 2015 following his alleged role in a plot to blackmail Mathieu Valbuena – a claim he denies.

Benzema is alleged to have been involved in a plan to blackmail the winger over an X-rated video on his mobile phone.
The striker is claimed to have acted as a middle-man, convincing Valbuena to deal with the blackmailers himself – with the now-Olympiacos man, 36, instead going to police.
Benzema’s lawyer, Sylvain Cormier, maintained the striker’s innocence in 2015, saying: “He played no part, I repeat no part, in any blackmail or attempted blackmail.”
The forward will reportedly go on trial in October, and many – including Arsenal legend and fellow Frenchman Arsene Wenger – had called for him to be recalled to the national team for Euro 2020.
