Cavani ‘open’ to quitting Man Utd in January amid Real Madrid transfer interest after losing place to Cristiano Ronaldo

MANCHESTER UNITED striker Edinson Cavani is considering leaving the club in January, according to reports. The Uruguayan, 34, is out of contract in June and has recently lost his place to returning icon Cristiano Ronaldo, 36.

According to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo, Cavani is open to quitting Old Trafford in January.
The forward is yet to complete a full 90 minutes in the Premier League this season and was hauled off after 57 minutes against Everton on Saturday.
Cavani signed a new one-year deal with Man Utd during the summer and was expected to be the team’s main striker – and wear the No7 shirt.
But the shock return of Ronaldo has seen him slip down the pecking order and he’s now likely to play just a supporting role – wearing the No21 shirt.
And Real Madrid are reportedly interested in signing Cavani on loan in January, giving him the chance to leave Ronaldo’s shadow.
The LaLiga side are thought to want more firepower up front after failing to sign Paris Saint-Germain ace Kylian Mbappe, 22, during the summer.

A six-month loan deal for Cavani would allow the striker to see out the rest of his Man Utd contract in Spain.
And the forward is reportedly interested in playing in LaLiga before retiring after enjoying spells in Italy, France and England.
Real are unlikely to offer Cavani more than a six-month deal as they are expected to regenerate their interest in Mbappe.
The Frenchman is also out of contract in June and Real reportedly want to sign him on a pre-contract agreement.
Cavani boasts a decent record at Man Utd, scoring 10 goals in 29 games since leaving PSG in August 2020.
The 123-cap international is one of the most prolific goalscorers of his generation, scoring 370 goals in 629 club appearances.

It had been claimed last month that the World Cup winner is ‘more likely’ to pen a new deal following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo.
But according to Spanish news outlet El Nacional, his agent Raiola is trying to convince Los Blancos to snap him up in 2022.
They state that the ex-Juventus ace, who can speak to foreign clubs about a summer move in the New Year, is keen to play in LaLiga in the future.
Barcelona have been linked with securing Pogba’a services, but he would have to take a huge pay cut in order to join the Blaugrana.
And El Nacional have reported that Raiola has been in contact with the Catalan club’s president Joan Laporta.
But Barca cannot afford to bring him to the Nou Camp, leaving Raiola to allegedly try and persuade Real to sign the four-time Serie A champion.

Paris Saint-Germain are understood to remain keen on Pogba after failing to bring him to Parc des Princes in the recent transfer window.
But Real are believed to be the frontrunners should the player decide to seek a new challenge away from the Premier League.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side are in need of new midfielders with Luka Modric in the last year of his deal at the Bernabeu.
Meanwhile Toni Kroos is tied down until 2023, and Real could decide to cash in on him.
Should Pogba link up with Real, he could partner French compatriot Eduardo Camavinga, who linked up with the Madrid outfit in August.
Raphael Varane has urged Pogba to remain with the Red Devils, as he said: “It is of course his decision, but of course I hope he stays here for a long time.
“He is a fantastic player, so undoubtedly I hope he stays.
“He did not have to convince me that I should move here, but I talked to him about the club to find out what it is like to be here day-to-day.
“It was important for me to hear his opinions and thoughts about the club, the team and their ambitions.”

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp shock target to replace under-fire Barcelona boss Koeman after being added to shortlist

Liverpool boss Klopp is said to be a bold target of the Blaugrana’s in their bid to return to the top.
According to Spanish outlet El Nacional, via the Mirror, the German is seen as the dream candidate by Barcelona president Joan Laporta.
However, 54-year-old Klopp is under contract to 2024 and settled at Anfield, even partaking in a ground-breaking ceremony for the Reds’ latest stadium expansion on Thursday.
The knives are out for Dutch manager Koeman following a poor start to the season.
Having failed to fully threaten in the Champions League or LaLiga last season, his side have won just three of their eight games in 2021-22.
That includes Wednesday’s disastrous 3-0 hammering at Benfica, following up their defeat by the same scoreline at home to Bayern Munich.

Reports in Spain suggest ex-Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo is also on Barcelona’s shortlist, along with club legend Xavi.
Belgium boss Martinez has already distanced himself from the role, telling reporters that his Catalan roots will not have an impact on his future.
He said: “There is nothing at all, there are no contacts.
“A coach should never be emotionally attached to a club or a country or a culture. My wife is Scottish, I’ve played in Wales, I’m Spanish…
“I don’t follow Barcelona especially. I didn’t even watch them against Benfica – I was at Juventus-Chelsea instead to watch [Romelu] Lukaku.”

Barcelona salary cap slashed by £245MILLION to just £85m with rivals Real Madrid at £638m with La Liga wages revealed

BARCELONA must cut their wage bill to just £85million after Real Madrid were given the green light to spend SEVEN TIMES more. The figure, which would not look out of place in the Championship, was calculated as part of LaLiga’s restrictions on spending.
Barcelona have received more bad news after a difficult summerCredit: Getty
League bosses announced the figures on Wednesday with Barcelona’s spending once again coming into focus after the exit of Lionel Messi.
The failure to keep the Argentine has also been questioned despite the club making a £400m loss last season, to rack up £1billion of debt.
The salary cap is calculated with each club’s profit and losses, leading to the Blaugrana’s dropping from £591m in 2019-20 to £330m last season – and now by a further £245m for 2021-22.
It is in stark contrast to Real Madrid, whose limit has risen from £404m to £638m – over £465m more than any other club.
Los Blancos did not spend a penny on a transfer fee between Reinier’s January 2020 arrival and the signing of Eduardo Camavinga on this summer’s deadline day.
Speaking on the latest limits, LaLiga corporate director Jose Guerra explained why Barcelona are feeling the pinch.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET £50 IN FREE BETS WITH WILLIAM HILL
He told reporters: “They acknowledge much higher losses than what they had initially estimated, so the impact is greater on their spending limit.
“If you take the £85m limit and add the losses, around £400m, we’re talking about £485m, which would be more normal. So it’s more or less stable.”
The punishments for breaching the cap is not expected to amount to much, particularly as LaLiga will take into account the coronavirus pandemic.
But Barcelona have already lost Messi and struggled to register new signings such as Sergio Aguero, with more incomings unlikely until the situation improves.
It has been said that club president Joan Laporta loaded extra losses onto last season’s accounts to improve next year’s outlook, having already called for greater ‘flexibility’ from league bosses over the spending rules.
But Guerra insisted that Messi’s exit was not a formality, and added: “I think there were solutions that could have kept Messi at the club, it was the club’s management that decided to use their resources differently.”
When football has punctured a lung – they haven’t wanted to absorb that loss of income. They must take measures.Javier Tebas
Madrid’s status as holding by far Spain’s biggest cap limit will help their bid to bring in Kylian Mbappe as a free agent next season.
Sevilla sit second in the salary cap table, on £172m, before Atletico Madrid on £147m.
Diego Simeone’s side, like seventh-placed Barcelona, have felt greater ill-effects from the pandemic but are one of only five clubs being told to seriously cut back this season.
Among them are Valencia, who have been afforded the lowest wage bill of the division, at just £25m, following a torrid spell on and off the pitch.
LaLiga chief Javier Tebas has previously called on the likes of Barcelona to ‘take measures’ to control their finances – while praising Madrid.
Tebas stated in June: “The severity of the situation depends on the resources they are capable of generating.

“Barcelona have to restructure their debt. If they manage that, the situation won’t be serious.
“But they have taken their wage bill to the limit. And when football has coughed – or, better put, punctured a lung – they haven’t wanted to absorb that loss of income. They must take measures.
“There are other big clubs that have made a bigger effort to avoid it. Real Madrid have made a commendable effort to ensure their losses aren’t the same as Barcelona, who take the trophy for losses.”

Barcelona offer 18-year-old wonderkid Ansu Fati new contract with club desperate to keep hold of star youngster

The 18-year-old’s deal at the Nou Camp runs until the end of the season and reports in Spain say Barca have already offered an extension.
Football director Mateu Alemany is set to meet Mendes to finalise the deal once the agent returns from holiday in Qatar.
But there are fears the proposal could unravel due to the shocking state of the Catalan giants’ finances.
They are saddled with a crippling debt of around £1 billion and have reportedly been set a salary cap of just £85m – £553m less than rivals Real Madrid.
That could leave Barca unable to afford any long-term deal for the highly-rated Fati.
Mendes is understood to be talking to club officials about a short-term extension with potential for a review later when money flows once again.

Spain wonderkid Pedri ‘agrees new Barcelona contract’ in massive boost to club with deal to be finalised next month

BARCELONA have received a much-needed boost with reports suggesting Pedri is on the verge of signing a new contract. The club has suffered on and off-pitch crises recently but the promise of a new generation of stars creates genuine cause for hope.

Central to that is Pedri, who has already registered 55 appearances despite only being 18 years of age.
The Spain international impressed at Euro 2020 but has struggled with injury so far this season.
Ronald Koeman should have him back for Wednesday’s clash with Benfica after he recovered from a muscle issue to return to training.
And Pedri is reportedly willing to sign a new contract, according to Sky Sport Italia.
It is said that all parties have agreed on the majority of the deal’s terms and a final agreement is expected by the middle of next month.
Barcelona have Pedri under contract until June, plus a two-year extension clause they are able to enact automatically.

But Mundo Deportivo report on the Catalans having no plan of doing so, given the salary boost that they want to award the midfielder.
The player arrived from Las Palmas after an initial £4.3million deal was struck in 2019, although clauses have since taken that up to £13m.
It is said that the Canary Islanders may eventually bank £30m if all add-ons are met, with a 15 per cent sell-on fee also part of the sale.
Koeman sung Pedri’s praises earlier this month, stating: “He is a young player who listens and works hard and a great future awaits him.
“Mentally, he is very tough because if he was not, then he would not have survived this very demanding last 12 months.”

Argentinian journalist Cinthia Fernandez claimed on Argentine TV: “Gisela apparently found them in her own home, in her own bed.
“She opened the door and there was Fernando Gago with this other woman.”
She added: “They got married ten years ago and have three children. They always kept a low profile.
“They separated because of his unfaithfulness. He cheated on her with her best friend.
“That group of friends were mums at their kids’ school. Gisela has changed them to a different school.”

The Moroccan striker hit his third goal of the season on the weekend, in a 2-0 win over Espanyol.
And he caught the eye with a 24-goal tally last campaign to put Sevilla on the defensive when it comes to his future.
According to the Express, via Mundo Deportivo, Arsenal are plotting a January bid for En-Nesyri.
The offer could include Alexandre Lacazette in a player-plus-cash deal, ahead of the Frenchman’s contract expiring in the summer.
But Sevilla want to ensure any deal matches their £38.5m valuation of the star forward.

Saturday’s outing saw him register again, sending Sevilla third in the process.
However, he did come off injured in the second-half and was already out of Wednesday’s Champions League clash with Wolfsburg due to suspension.
Sevilla are said to be calm over their man’s transfer future but Arsenal may be ready to continue their heavy spending after the turn of the year.
After splashing more cash than any other Premier League team in the summer, Mikel Arteta’s side are linked with more incomings in January.

Philippe Coutinho is said to be a target for a potential loan move from Barcelona.
A less-familiar signing could arrive in the form of Noa Lang, the Club Brugge winger talked up for a £25.6m move to the Emirates.
Funding the deals could be Bernd Leno’s exit, with the goalkeeper reportedly wanted by Inter Milan.
