Why De Gea is still unemployed after Man Utd exit… from pop star wife to Spain rival scuppering dream Real Madrid move

DAVID DE GEA is floating in no man’s land as the experienced shot stopper still searches for a new home after leaving Manchester United this summer. The 32-year-old spent 12 years with the Red Devils just to walk away without a goodbye from the fans after he was replaced by Andre Onana.

And you would think there would be a queue of clubs lining up to offer last season’s Premier League Golden Glove winner a contract… but that’s not the case.
In fact the Daily Mail have reported that many coaches and managers are turning their noses up at De Gea with the view that he hasn’t developed his game enough and is only seen as a “save-making” goalkeeper.
Onana was brought to Old Trafford by Erik ten Hag because of his ability with his feet, an area of the game that the Spaniard has struggled with historically.
But make no mistake, there were still teams interested in signing De Gea this summer and if it hadn’t been for some sliding doors moments he could be in-between the sticks right now.

European giants Real Madrid had been interested in signing the former Atletico Madrid man when their number one, Thibault Courtois, picked up a cruciate ligament injury.
But they turned their attention to Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga instead, when they discovered they could sign him on a season-long loan.
It’s reported that Real Madrid opted for Kepa not just for the ease of a loan move, but also as they felt they were choosing Spain’s second choice keeper over one who was no longer in the setup for the national team at all, in De Gea.
De Gea was understood to be keen on a move back to Spain with he and his wife, Edurne Garcia, looking to settle down back in his home country.

The pair married this summer and Edurne may have also had an impact on De Gea’s free agent status too.
It is said that Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Hilal were keen to attract the goalkeeper to the Middle East to join the likes of Neymar and Aleksandr Mitrovic.
But the star’s wife reportedly made it clear she only wanted to make the move out there once all other options had been exhausted.
This opened the door for Yassine Bounou to join Al-Hilal instead from Sevilla, thus leaving De Gea without a club in Europe or in Saudi Arabia.
Now he is left in limbo as he looks to find himself a new stadium to call home and the lack of options as a first choice keeper could see him call an early end to his career.
De Gea is said to be considering retirement if he is unable to find a new club where he will be the No1.
The 2013 Premier League champion is currently training alone as he looks to maintain his fitness should the right option come along.

One said: “If I run into him I won’t recognize him.”

Liverpool ‘targeting incredible move for Real Madrid superstar if Mo Salah completes Saudi transfer in 2024’

LIVERPOOL will reportedly target Real Madrid superstar Rodrygo next year if Mo Salah leaves for Saudi Arabia. The Reds are keeping their eye on the 22-year-old winger who may be falling down Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order.

Salah was courted by Al-Ittihad during the final days of the summer transfer window for a mammoth £170million – but the Reds swiftly declined the offer.
One reason Liverpool were reluctant to sell the Egyptian star was the lack of time to source a replacement.
If Salah is open to a switch to Saudi in January, the Reds can expect renewed interest in the new year for their main man.
According to Fichajes Jurgen Klopp may be expecting his departure as he has been on the hunt for a Salah successor – and it looks like he has found his match.

Klopp is keen on Brazilian ace Rodrygo who will enter the final year of his contract at Real next year and will be available to purchase.
There is a catch however as Ancelotti’s side will be asking for a big price and are willing to listen offers that exceed the mark of £86.5million, according to Todo Fichajes.
A price tag that is half of what the Saudi’s have said to be willing to pay for Salah.
This comes as Los Blancos are expecting the arrival of Kylian Mbappe next season and are not prepared to sell their star winger Vinicius Junior.

Rodrygo made a move to the Bernabeu for £40m in 2019 from Brazilian giants Santos.
He has since become a key part of the Madrid team – winning the La Liga title in his debut season and incredibly scoring a goal in his first match within a minute.
The superstar has racked up 171 appearances and scored 38 goals as well as winning two La Liga’s, a Champions League and a Copa del Rey during his four years at the club.
But the reports claims his start to this La Liga campaign has been “inconsistent” with Brahim Diaz potentially being Ancelotti’s preferred option.
This may be the perfect chance for the Reds to swoop in a snatch the Brazilian who they have had their eyes on since his days at Santos. More

Fans spot Real Madrid ‘inventing new corner routine’ during Champions League clash and it’s left them baffled

FANS were left torn after watching Real Madrid “invent a new corner routine” against Union Berlin. The LaLiga giants were suffering a frustrating night in their opening game of the 2023/24 Champions League campaign before Jude Bellingham’s last-ditch winner.

The visitors from the Bundesliga, making their debut in the competition, produced a gritty first half display to hold the 14-time European champions.
However, it was not for the want of trying from Madrid as they went to some whacky lengths to try and find a breakthrough.
After winning a corner, Luka Modric walked over to take it, but he was soon joined by team-mate David Alaba.
The defender stood almost next to the Croatian in what seemed to be an attempt to block the opposition from being able to see what they were plotting from the set-piece.

Real Madrid even repeated the trick, albeit to no avail, before the break.
And the new tactic certainly got supporters talking online.
One tweeted: “Real Madrid inventing new corner techniques.”
Another wrote: “Real Madrid’s corner kicks are like a box of chocolates – you never know what kind of surprise they’ll unwrap next.”

Another viewer asked: “What on earth is this about?”
“This is strange,” noted another, while another added: “We didn’t understand this.”
And a fellow Madrid follower declared: “We are the pioneers of football.”
But not everyone was as enthusiastic, with one fan tweeting: “And still can’t score , so it’s pointless.”
While another said: “Warra rubbish technique…”
However, it was a quick corner that eventually prove to be the difference.
In the fifth minute of additional time, the Union Berlin defence fell asleep from a short one.
That allowed Federico Valverde time and space to shoot from the edge of the box.
His effort took several deflections before it fell perfectly for Jude Bellingham to bury from two yards out for his sixth goal in as many games for Madrid. More

England fans will have NO way to watch Jude Bellingham’s first El Clasico after shock Real Madrid vs Barcelona decision

UK fans will be unable to watch Jude Bellingham’s El Clasico debut – because of the Saturday afternoon TV blackout.Bellingham and his Real Madrid team-mates travel to the temporary home of their greatest rivals on October 28.

Barcelona are playing their home matches this season at the Lluis Companys Olympic Stadium, the former home of Espanyol and host venue of the 1992 Games, while the Nou Camp is being renovated and updated.
But La Liga chiefs have now announced the game will kick off at 3.15 pm, meaning it cannot be screened live on British television.
The scheduling is to give Barcelona the maximum possible time to prepare for their Champions League away game at Shakhtar Donetsk, which is one of the two early kick-offs on  the following Tuesday.
It means though that England fans wanting to see what Bellingham could do in the biggest club game of his career to date will be unable to watch the match live in the UK legally.

Arsenal against Sheffield United and Bournemouth versus Burnley are the only two 3pm Premier League games on that day.
But the blackout – which is only lifted in exceptional circumstances  and has been in place since the 1960s – is designed to protect attendances throughout the English football pyramid.
It is extremely unlikely that the FA would listen to any urgings to relax their stance even if Bellingham’s bow in the fixture would be a ratings winner.
Additionally, Prem bosses are not exactly on the best of terms with La Liga chief Javier Tebas, a longstanding critic of the financial power of English football.

But the upshot is that home-based fans will not be able to watch Bellingham in action in the game.

He went on to play 159 games for Los Blancos, scoring 20 goals and bagging 52 assists and winning the LaLiga title in 2007.
That era of stars at Real Madrid were often referred to as the “Galacticos”, with Beckham sharing the pitch alongside the likes of Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane, Raul, Luis Figo, Roberto Carlos and more.
And four of those icons were pictured back at the Bernabeu to commemorate ex-Brazil striker Ronaldo’s 47th birthday – which was on Monday.

Figo left for Inter Milan in 2005, before Beckham, Ronaldo and Carlos went on to claim the LaLiga title two years later.
