    Ilkay Gundogan ‘AGREES to join Barcelona in free transfer at end of season’ after seven years at Man City

    ILKAY GUNDOGAN is set to join Barcelona in the summer, reports claim.Reports in Spain say the 32-year-old will leave Manchester City when his contract expires at the end of the season.

    Gundogan has an agreement in place to join the LaLiga giants, according to Spanish outlet El Chiringuito.
    He has been free to talk to overseas clubs since January 1st as he is in the final six months of his contract.
    The German midfielder has played 278 games for Manchester City since joining from Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
    He was the first signing of the Pep Guardiola era.

    But he is alleged to want a new challenge when his current deal comes to an end.
    Gundogan was elected as club captain for the current campaign by his City team-mates after Fernandinho left.
    He has won four Premier League titles, four League Cups and the FA Cup during his time at the Etihad.
    But, with his contract expiring, Gundogan has been linked with a move in recent weeks.

    And cash-strapped Barcelona appear to have won the race for his signature.
    The club’s lack of finances means they have been targeting free transfers.
    Frank Kessie, Marcos Alonso, Hector Bellerin and Andreas Christensen all joined Barca for free last summer.
    Barca also looked at signing N’Golo Kante, another star who is out of contract at the end of the season, according to the Telegraph.
    But the Frenchman appears set to extend his deal with Chelsea, with the Spaniards now moving for Gundogan. More

    The subtle message has sparked further conversation around the possibility of a transfer for the World Cup winning forward.
    Mbappe has become one of the hottest properties in world football and Real president Florentino Perez is reportedly keen on making him the newest Galactico at the Bernabeu.

    He has been said to be close to a move to the Spanish capital on a number of occasions, but his new £500million contract at the Parc Des Princes seemed to put any rumours to bed.
    However Real Madrid have revisited their interest in signing the superstar with recent reports also suggesting Mbappe himself would be open to the deal.
    He is currently leading the race for the golden boot in Ligue 1 with 13 goals in 17 appearances and has an impressive seven goals in six Champions League appearances this season.
    Real Madrid are not the only possible suitors for the rapid forward as Premier League strugglers Liverpool are also said to be interested in luring him away from Paris.

    Barca forward Depay has been strongly linked with a move away from the club this month.
    Both Manchester United and Arsenal are rumoured to be interested in the 29-year-old.
    Atletico Madrid are also keen, having lost Joao Felix on loan to Chelsea.
    Depay is out of contract at the end of the season, and Barcelona will look to get what they can for him this month.

    As a result, they want Carrasco, 29, as part of a swap deal for the Dutch striker.
    And Carrasco’s agent told Belgian newspaper Nieuwsblad, via Marca: “The plan is to trade Yannick for Memphis.
    “There is nothing concrete yet, nor do I know if it will work, but negotiations are ongoing.
    “Yannick likes Barca and is a good player.”

    However, reports in Spain have shut down any suggestions of a swap deal.
    Relevo claim Atletico want to sign Depay for free, and if they can’t this month they will wait until the summer when he is out of contract.

    Carrasco has scored four goals and provided two assists in 23 games this campaign for Atletico.

    Cadiz demand final nine minutes of match are replayed and threaten legal action after clear VAR error

    CADIZ have demanded a replay of the final nine minutes of their match against Elche after a VAR error cost them a goal.The game ended in a 1-1 draw after Ezequiel Ponce equalised in the 81st minute for Elche.

    But replays showed the striker was offside in the build-up – so the goal should not have stood.
    Ponce had strayed beyond the last defender when he ran back to receive a header from his team-mate.
    Three passes later and the ball was in the back of the Cadiz net, with VAR failing to disallow the goal.
    Now Cadiz are threatening legal action leaves them in the La Liga relegation zone and one point off safety.

    A statement from the club read: “Today, January 17, 2023, the legal services of Cadiz have submitted to the competent federative authorities, a brief challenging the meeting held before Elche.
    “By virtue of which the annulment is requested of the well-deserved match and its resumption from minute 81, at which time the refereeing team validated the goal scored by Elche’s Ezequiel Ponce, despite being preceded by a resounding and flagrant offside, not susceptible to interpretation, as shown by the images of the match.
    “Quite the contrary, if necessary at the end of the season, depending on the sporting and economic damages that may be inferred from the final classification of Cadiz.
    “In the First Division category, this Entity will evaluate the exercise of as many legal actions that assist it in Law, including the action of patrimonial responsibility against the persons, physical or legal, that in the last instance must respond for the damages and losses caused to Cadiz.”

    Los Blancos found themselves 3-0 down, and in an attempt to change the game, manager Carlo Ancelotti subbed on midfielder Ceballos with 25 minutes left.
    In the latter stages of the match, the clearly frustrated ex-Arsenal midfielder started an altercation by tugging Gavi back by the hair.
    The ball was being held by the 18-year-old as he went to complain to the referee, only for Ceballos to grab him by the top of his head and yank him back.
    Gavi reacted by pushing the Real Madrid man, which led to team-mate Robert Lewandowski feeling he had to step in to calm things down.

    Vinicius Junior then tried to confront the teenager being protected by the Polish striker as he shouted back at his opponent.
    The whole incident went unpunished with both Ceballos and Gavi only receiving warnings.
    However, Barca defender Ronald Araujo demanded action, charging up to the official to signal that Gavi had just had his hair pulled.
    In the end, it was Barcelona who had the last laugh over their bitter rivals as they secured the first trophy of the season.
