Disgraced Spanish FA president Luis Rubiales inexplicably kissed Hermoso on the lips as she came up to receive her Women’s World Cup winner’s medal in Sydney last Sunday.
The incident led to widespread criticism of Rubiales – which extended into his controversial leadership of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), who today launched an internal investigation after its sexual violence protocol was activated.
Pedro Rocha – who took over as the RFEF’s interim president after Rubiales was suspended by Fifa on Saturday – also called an emergency meeting, which will take place on Monday.
The meeting is set to “evaluate the situation in which the federation finds itself” and look at the “decisions or actions to be taken”.

The head of the Spanish FA initially hit out at the “idiots” who slammed his behaviour as pressure mounted on him to resign.
And the ongoing backlash exposed the toxicity within Spanish football, including Rubiales’ support of hated manager Jorge Vilda.
The RFEF have continued to defend their chief, ignoring Hermoso’s own version of events and instead threatening her with legal action.
Rubiales, meanwhile, was suspended by Fifa for at least 90 days on Saturday as the world governing body try and take control of the row.

Hermoso, 33, tried to put the drama behind her by going on holiday with her team-mates in Ibiza this week.
And on Saturday evening she was all smiles watching Atletico Madrid take on AC Milan in the Women’s Cup pre-season tournament at the Spanish club’s training ground.
Hermoso, wearing a red top and black trousers, looked relaxed as she waved from her seat and posed for selfies with fans.
The people she was with revealed ‘#Contigo Jennifer Hermoso’ t-shirts – ‘contigo’ means ‘with you’.
The two sets of players also stood together before kick-off and unfurled a banner with the same message, while one player held up a Spain shirt with Hermoso’s No10 on the back.
Across Spain at Sevilla last night, the home players warmed up for their LaLiga clash against high-flying Girona in white tops over their kits.
The words ‘#SeAcabo’ were printed in red on the front – which translates as ‘it’s over’.
And Cadiz revealed a banner before their 1-1 draw with Almeria to state: “We are all Jenni.”
Since the kiss, Hermoso has publicly reiterated she did “not enjoy” it and that the act was not consensual – despite Rubiales’ claims it was.
She revealed she felt “vulnerable and a victim of an impulse-driven, sexist, out-of-place act without any consent on my part” in a brave Instagram post.
Rubiales gave a weak apology on Monday but refused to resign in a press conference four days later, insisting he was the victim of a “social assassination” from “false feminism” for a “consensual, spontaneous little peck”.
The Spanish football federation’s protocol’s protection delegate, Maria Dolores Martinez Madrona, confirmed an investigation is underway.
She said: “Our protocol is currently activated and in the midst of investigating the events, thus we demand the utmost respect for the right to privacy and dignity of all individuals involved,” she said in a letter published by the federation (RFEF).
“As the protection delegate for sexual violence, my duty is to adhere to the protocol and safeguard the privacy of those affected by this incident and of the Sexual Violence Advisory Committee.”
Various politicians, players and teams – including the Lionesses squad – have slammed Rubiales’ decision not to step down.

And 81 Spanish women players – as well as men’s international Borja Iglesias – have all quit and are refusing to play until the head of the RFEF leaves and there is a change in leadership.
The full coaching staff of Spain’s women’s side have also resigned with the exception of head coach Vilda, who applauded Rubiales’ announcement at the press conference.

David Beckham became part of Real Madrid’s Brazilian clique leaving Spanish-speaking stars jealous, Robinho reveals

DAVID BECKHAM left Spanish-speaking members of the Real Madrid squad jealous thanks to being part of the Brazilian clique at the club, according to Robinho. The 39-year-old Brazilian and former Manchester City star recounted his time at the Bernabeu to Italian media outlet La Gazzetta dello Sport.

In April 2020, he spoke of the chemistry in the team and his ex team-mate Beckham, who owns MLS side Inter Miami, saying: ”When Madrid came, I saw that they had a large Brazilian presence in the team and they had Vanderlei Luxemburgo as their coach at the time.
”So, why go to Barcelona? There was a great harmony among the Brazilians in the squad. Beckham was always with the Brazilians. He was part of our group.
”The Spaniards were jealous because he spoke more Portuguese than Spanish, so he ended up spending more time with us.”
After scoring more than 80 goals over four seasons at Santos, Brazilian Robinho moved to Europe and helped Real Madrid win back-to-back LaLiga titles in 2007 and 2008.
Spanish giants Barca had had their eyes on the starlet at around that time, but Real swooped in with a deal before their rivals had the chance to steal their prize.
He then stayed in Spain for three seasons before moving over to City in 2008.
Things did not end on good terms for him and Real when his time with the club came to its eventual end.
He also told Gazzetta: ”My goal was to go to Chelsea. But things ended badly with Real Madrid.

”They didn’t like Chelsea selling shirts with my name on them before the deal was concluded.
“I don’t regret leaving Madrid. But I am sorry I made mistakes with them when I left.
”Madrid was the club that opened my doors and offered me the opportunity to conquer Europe.”
Former England captain Beckham joined LA Galaxy from Real in 2007 and part of his contract gave him the option to buy an MLS franchise at a reduced rate in the future.
It took him several years, but he took up that option and now owns Inter Miami.
And the ex-Manchester United winger recently recruited Lionel Messi to his franchise. More

Drenthe helped Los Blancos win the La Liga title in 2008, but after loan spells at Hercules and Everton found himself surplus to requirements.
Following the expiry of his Madrid contract in 2012, the Dutchman signed for newly promoted Russian side Alania Vladikavkaz.
While the move was a good one financially, Drenthe quickly grew disillusioned with life in Russia.
Located near the Georgian border, Vladikavkaz lacked the kind of amenities that Drenthe was looking for.

In a 2020 interview with Dutch station RTV, he said: “Vladikavkaz was not the ideal place.
“It is a totally destroyed city. You couldn’t do anything fun, despite having a lot of money.”
He went on to say that he felt his six months there had “been to forget”.
One thing he did recall doing was drinking vodka.

He explained: “The vodka…. We drank it very often, it was one of the mainstays.
“In that perspective, it was not difficult to get used to. Also, we had vodka on the team bus. In Russia it is like that.”
Drenthe’s former team-mate Cicinho revealed he drank ten beers a day at Real Madrid and even turned up to training drunk.
Drenthe played just six games for Alania, scoring three goals, before moving back to England with Reading.
The one-cap Dutch international, now of Racing Merida, has fond memories of nights out with his former Madrid pals.
He said: “I have had so many beautiful nights with Guti.
“We often hung out with Wesley Sneijder, Robinho and Gonzalo Higuain.
“Wesley and I were flesh and blood and we could cross the red line from time to time. And there were times when Higuain signed up.”
Drenthe was later declared bankrupt after losing his £3.2million fortune and was most recently a healthcare worker in the Netherlands.

Vidal joined the Catalan giants from Sevilla in the summer of 2015 with expectations high for what he could add to Luis Enrique’s side.

He left in the summer of 2018 to re-join Sevilla in a deal that saw Barcelona make a £7.5million loss on their investment.

Barcelona had been favourites for Fresneda’s signature but manager Xavi appears to be at loggerheads with the board over the deal.
Xavi favours bringing in an experienced top-level player in the position and wants the club to sign Manchester City’s Joao Cancelo.
The Barca boss reportedly also favours a move for former Spurs defender Juan Foyth to help address the club’s shortcomings at right-back over a move for Fresneda.
But new sporting director Deco wants Fresneda as he looks to build a Barcelona team for the future.

The discordance between sporting director and manager has opened the door for the likes of Chelsea, who see Fresneda as a player with a lot of potential.

Portuguese clubs are also keen on a move for the now Spanish second division player with Porto, Benfica and Sporting CP all circling.
