Tommy Fury may ‘NEVER’ get the chance to fight Jake Paul and is ‘very unlikely’ to ever receive the same payday again

TOMMY FURY has been warned he may NEVER again get the chance to fight Jake Paul – missing out on the payday of a lifetime. The former reality TV star was all set to put unbeaten records and reputations on the line against YouTube sensation Paul.

But Fury, 22, was left devastated after pulling out of the December 18 grudge match with Paul, 24, having suffering a broken rib and chest infection.
As well as the chance to earn bragging rights, a massive fight purse also went to waste for the 7-0 unbeaten Brit.
And Paul’s trainer BJ Flores – a former cruiserweight contender – said not even a career as world champion could have guaranteed the same money.
Flores told SunSport: “I really don’t have any comment on Tommy except he missed out on a massive opportunity, whether he was sick, had bad luck, or whatever it was.
“It’s a massive opportunity and probably one he’ll never get again, that would have been, for sure, the biggest payday of his career.
“Even if he went on to be a champion, it’s very unlikely he would have made that money again, in any fight in his career.”

In September, Paul offered Fury a flat fee of £1million plus additional pay-per-view bonuses.
And especially with an increased cut in the UK PPV buys, he could have earned well into the millions.
Former UFC champion Michael Bisping, 42, recently claimed Tyron Woodley, 39, was paid around £6m for his loss to Paul in August.
Fury would have been the social media phenomenon’s first opponent with prior professional boxing experience.
In Paul’s first three fights, he beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.
But his biggest win to date was against Woodley – the man who has now filled in for Fury.
And coach Flores admitted they could move on entirely from Fury, citing bigger fish to fry instead.
He added: “We’ve got other names on the resume, to be honest with you.

“Other big names on the radar, bigger names than Tommy that are coming up, so I’m not sure.
“And it doesn’t really matter to me, to be honest. Tommy was neither here nor there, I didn’t care whether it was Tommy or not.
“Jake definitely doesn’t need the ‘opportunity’ to fight Tommy, Tommy was the one getting the opportunity more so than Jake.”
Ex-UFC champ Woodley has filled in on under two week’s notice to secure a second crack at Paul.
But Flores promised this time a whole new opponent will be staring across the American MMA veteran in Florida.
He said: “I see a victory, I see a win 100 per cent. I see a fight where Jake’s going to look exponentially better.
“He’s going to be sharper, crisper. He’s going to have a couple of new elements that you’ll see in round one.
“I don’t know what round the knockout will come, I don’t care at all, we’re not in a rush, we’ve got eight rounds to do it.”

Inside Jake Paul’s training camp to fight ex-UFC star Tyron Woodley including sparring 150 ROUNDS with ex-world champs

JAKE PAUL has been secretly putting in the championship rounds in his private Caribbean island training camp. The YouTube sensation, for the second fight in a row, has prepared to fight ex-UFC champion Tyron Woodley in Puerto Rico.

He started his camp in early September, believing he was facing online rival Tommy Fury.
But after Fury, 22, pulled out with a broken rib, Woodley, 39, filled in as a replacement, only four months after losing to Paul.
The social media star knew the show must go on, with undercard talent also expecting a payday right before Christmas.
Plus, it meant the money spent on camp costs, rounds of sparring banked and months of gruelling training did not go to waste.
Here, SunSport takes an exclusive look inside Paul’s preparations for Woodley, ahead of the anticipated rematch in Florida over the weekend.
Trainer BJ Flores said: “Jake prepares like it’s a world championship fight.

“When a lot of heavyweight champions go into title fights, they spar between 150-200 rounds.
“Jake’s right at the same level, he’s taking it very, very seriously. The last fight, he came in with a bit of an injury.
“He had a hyperextended elbow against Tyron, he went eight rounds, we went back to the drawing board, made some adjustments and we’re ready to rock and roll.”
In Paul’s first three fights, he beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.
But his biggest win to date was against Woodley over eight rounds in front of a home crowd in Cleveland.
It was the first time he was ever taken the distance – or past round two – and has only helped boost Paul’s confidence and boxing ego even more.
Flores said: “His work ethic has been outstanding. He’s always worked really hard, he’s really focussed and locked in now.
“And I think going eight rounds last time was a real wake-up call for him, he’s got a good chip on his shoulder.

“Everyday he wakes up ready to work now and it’s just a really good situation to be in as a trainer because he comes in very hungry every single day.
“He’s very eager and we’ve added a couple of wrinkles, a couple of things that he can do in the ring and it’s really going to show on Saturday night.”
Paul, a former Disney Channel actor, has conducted training camps in California, Las Vegas and Miami.
All can be considered boxing breeding grounds that offer state-of-that-art training faculties and easy sparring access.
But it can also bring unwelcomed distractions for a 24-year-old celebrity like Paul.
So moving over 3,000 miles away from LA to sunny Puerto Rico allows the cruiserweight boxer to train incognito.
Flores said: “It’s tough to get people out here for sparring but look, we’ve got it all in place.
“We have a professional travel team, a separate house for sparring partners, an entire facility set up here, a gym.

“We’re firing on all cylinders, to be honest with you, we’re in a really good spot. We’ve got all the equipment and everything we need.
“It’s not as much of a distortion as you might think, maybe we’re not in a hotbed city like Las Vegas or like that.
“But Jake has a different life here. There’s requirements that will help make his training easier and it’s isolation.
“People know who Jake is, he’s very famous, a lot of people recognise Jake when we’re in the States so it’s nice to be out in the middle of nowhere, where no one recognises him.
“He’s able to focus, he’s able to train and we’re able to get a lot of good stuff done.”
Paul been sparring the likes of Richard Rivera, 31, Muhsin Cason, 28, and Nikita Ababiy, 23, who have a combined record of 40-0, in recent months.
And he even welcomed in former cruiserweight world champion Steve Cunningham, 45, the man who dropped but lost to Tyson Fury, 33, in 2013.

Flores said: “We’ve had a lot of guys, world champions, Steve Cunningham out here, we’ve had Richard Rivera, who is 20-0 and one of the top cruiserweights in the country.
“We’ve had Muhsin Cason, 10-0 win eight knockouts, we had Nikita Ababiy, who is 10-0, we’ve had a lot of good guys out here.
“The sparring ranges anywhere from five rounds one day, to eight-ten another day. He rotates guys in.”
Having Cunningham in camp was one way of getting into the mind of the Fury family.
But after 2019 Love Islander Tommy pulled out, it left Flores & Co focussing once more on Woodley, a man they now know all about.
The trainer said: “Jake’s in shape, he’s ready to go, so Tyron better be ready. Tommy would have had his hands full.
“I think Tyron is a tougher fight that Tommy, he’s got more experience, more pedigree, more toughness, he punches harder, he’s way physically stronger.
“I think Tyron is a tougher fight than Tommy. We were ready for Tommy, obviously, that’s not happening anymore, so we’re ready for Tyron.”

Jake Paul’s trainer says Tyron Woodley ‘won’t go the distance’ in rematch as YouTube star has got ‘exponentially better’

JAKE PAUL’S trainer said Tyron Woodley ‘won’t go the distance’ in their rematch and warned the YouTube star has got ‘exponentially better’. Paul scored the biggest win of his four-fight boxing career in August when he beat ex-UFC champion Woodley over eight rounds.

And he was then set to fight Tommy Fury, 22, until the younger brother of heavyweight champion Tyson pulled out injured.
Woodley, 39, has since signed as Fury’s late replacement, but Paul’s trainer BJ Flores promised to expect a whole new opponent come December 18.
Flores told SunSport: “Jake’s a lot better now than he was on August 29th, he’s a lot better.
“And you’ve got to remember, he just started boxing, so in a short period he gets a lot better very quickly.
“He’s only been boxing two years, so four months is 15 per cent of his entire career, so he’s getting a lot better.
“I know it will be a tough fight, Tyron will be tough in the beginning, but we expect Tyron won’t go the distance this time.

“It’s going to be a different fight this time and people will see that. Jake’s pace is going to be very high.”
In Paul’s first three fights, he beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.
He then followed it up by outboxing Woodley over the eight-round distance.
Flores and Paul have since studied the performance and revealed their winning formula will look different in the anticipated rematch.
He said: “We’ll see how Tyron comes out. He’s an experienced veteran. The reason he wasn’t punching last time was because he couldn’t.
“He was getting counter-punched, he was getting hit when he was getting in range, he wasn’t really sure what part of the ring he needed to be in to not get hit.
“It’s a lot different than UFC, so he was trying to get his bearings as well, he’d never been in there with someone like Jake.

“We’ll be prepared for the best Tyron, I expect him to be aggressive, we’re going to be able to do what we always do.
“We can box, we can move and come forward, whatever we wants to do. And Jake’s pace will be a lot higher this time.
“It will be difficult for Tyron, I’m telling you right now it will be very difficult for him now we’ve seen how he fights and been able to break that down.”
Woodley has been the first and only of Paul’s opponent to make it to the scorecards.
But Flores is confident that will not be the case the second time around with another 24 minutes to close the show.
He said: “I see a victory, I see a win 100 per cent. I see a fight where Jake’s going to look exponentially better. He’s going to be sharper, crisper.
“He’s going to have a couple of new elements that you’ll see in round number one.
“I don’t know what round the knockout will come, I don’t care at all, we’re not in a rush, we’ve got eight rounds to do it.”

Tommy Fury’s sparring partner says Jake Paul would have been ‘knocked out cold’ and calls for fight to be rescheduled

JAKE PAUL would have been ‘knocked out cold’ by Tommy Fury, according to a sparring partner who called on the fight to be rescheduled. Unbeaten 6ft 7in cruiserweight Andrey Mangushev sparred with Fury and heavyweight champion Tyson in the summer.

The 2019 Love Island star was all set to face YouTube sensation Paul this weekend in Florida.
But then Fury was left devastated after he pulled out with a chest infection and broken rib.
Paul will now rematch Tyron Woodley – who he beat in August – but Mangushev wants to see the celebrity grudge match rescheduled.
He told SunSport: “I hope that this fight will happen, I sparred with Tommy, he is a very strong boxer.
“Tommy is a true fighter, he is not some kind of a showman. This fight could have ended really bad for Jake Paul.
“He would have been knocked out cold. Tommy is a very dangerous fighter.”

Paul, 24, is braced for his third consecutive pay-per-view headliner and fourth fight in 13 months, a period where he has no doubt brought eyeballs to the sport.
Mangushev, 23, said: “Jake is a bold person, he deserves a lot of respect. It takes a real man to step in the ring with professional fighters.
“The boxing world should be thankful to him, for attracting so much attention to professional boxing. Boxing is a king of sports.”
In Paul’s first three fights, he beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.
But his biggest win to date was against Woodley, 39, over eight rounds, the night Fury, 22, beat the American’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32.
It set up the mega-fight and would have been Paul’s first opponent with prior professional boxing experience.
But after Fury’s withdrawal, it has afforded Woodley with a chance of redemption, having failed to get the job done three months ago.
Mangushev predicted: “Woodley is a very experienced fighter, this time around he will most likely change his strategy to be more cautious.
Tommy is a true fighter, he is not some kind of a showman. This fight could have ended really bad for Jake Paul, he would have been knocked out cold. Andrey Mangushev on Tommy Fury vs Jake Paul
“He will be defending himself better. Even due to the short notice, I don’t believe that we are going to see a knockout in this fight.”
For Fury, he is now set to be sidelined until March and faces missing out on the massive payday and limelight if Paul refuses to ever negotiate with him again.
But Mangushev has backed the former reality TV star to bounce back and fulfil his promise.
He said: “Tommy has a great boxing potential, which will be surely realised by him. He is a part of the great boxing dynasty.
“Tommy is not only strong both physical and mentally, he is also very talented and is always working hard to become a better version of himself.
“Tommy is a very good and smart boxer, he has good physical traits as well as speed, timing and distance feel.
“I believe, that with more fights, he will be gaining more experience and becoming better and better.”

‘It is very possible’ – Jake Paul says Tyson Fury could have broken brother Tommy’s rib with brutal medicine ball drill

JAKE PAUL said ‘it is very possible’ that Tyson Fury broke his brother Tommy’s ribs with their brutal medicine ball drill. Tommy was due to fight celebrity rival Paul next weekend, December 18, in Florida.

But he was forced to pull out of the grudge match with a broken rib and chest infection.
Just a month beforehand, heavyweight champion Fury, who was training his brother, posted a clip of him dropping a medicine ball on to Tommy’s stomach.
The exercise, performed to boost core strength, could have been a factor in Tommy’s subsequent withdrawal, Paul, 24, claimed.
He said on the MMA Hour: “I have seen the footage and who knows it is very possible. It is very possible that could break a rib for sure.
“When I do that drill we take precautions and are careful because you hear stories of fighters getting injured while trying to work on their abs.”
In Paul’s first three fights, he beat YouTuber ‘AnEsonGib’, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson, 37, and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, also 37.

But his biggest win to date was against Tyron Woodley, 39, over eight rounds, with Tommy, 22, beating the YouTuber’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32.
It set up the mega-fight, until Tommy pulled out, leaving ex-UFC champion Woodley to sign as his replacement.
Tommy’s dad John later claimed a 17-stone ‘idiot’ broke his son’s rib with a ‘bare knuckle’ punch.
And his ex-trainer, British boxing legend Ricky Hatton, assured brother Fury would have been experienced enough to avoid an injury with the medicine ball, squashing Paul’s theory.
Hatton told The Metro: “There has been a bit of speculation that the injury might have come from those training sessions we saw, where Tyson was bouncing those medicine balls off Tommy’s stomach in the gym.
I have seen the footage and who knows it is very possible. It is very possible that could break a rib for sure. Jake Paul
“It can be done. I remember Floyd Mayweather Sr doing a similar thing with me.
“He was driving those medicine balls into me with everything he had and I was 10 stone 8 which I thought was f***ing diabolical.
“I was all skin and bone and he was whacking it into me with all his might. He 100 per cent could have cracked my rib!
“But Tyson is experienced enough to have known what he was doing there. He would have been doing it at the right pace.
“But even the slightest little tickler on the ribs can cause a problem. It doesn’t even have to be a heavy punch.
“All it needs is a little bang on a weak area, it is so easily done so I don’t think we can speculate too much on that.”

Jake Paul poses topless ahead of rematch with Tyron Woodley after putting a ‘bounty’ on his head with $500,000 KO bonus

JAKE PAUL posed topless ahead of his rematch with Tyron Woodley after putting a ‘bounty’ on his own head. Paul beat Woodley over eight rounds in August, the night Tommy Fury won against the YouTuber’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor.

Jake Paul has been training in Puerto Rico
It set up the huge celebrity grudge match for December 18 in Florida.
But Fury this week pulled out with a broken rib and chest infection, with Woodley signing on again as his replacement.
Paul, who has again spent his training camp in Puerto Rico, showed off the result of his hard work as he flexed his muscles on Instagram.
The YouTube sensation, 24, has not only offered Woodley, 39, a chance of redemption, but an added a $500,000 (£376,000) bonus if he can win by knockout.
Woodley said in response: “At the end the of the day, you put a bag on your own head.
“S***, I’m completely all about taking that free money. I had plans on doing that anyway, but if he wants to entice me a little bit more.
