ITV viewers left fuming after FA Cup semi-final coverage of Chelsea against Crystal Palace interrupted by ‘hissing’

ITV viewers were left fuming as the build-up to the FA Cup semi-final between Chelsea and Crystal Palace was ruined by a loud “hissing”.Fans tuned in to watch the second FA Cup semi-final following Liverpool’s thrilling win over Manchester City on Saturday on the BBC.
Fans were left fuming as a loud hissing sound could be heard over the pre-match punditry ahead of Chelsea’s FA Cup semi-final clash with Crystal PalaceCredit: Reuters
But they were left covering their ears as a distracting hissing sound could be heard above the ITV studio pundits.
Roy Keane, Ian Wright and Joe Cole were sharing their pre-match thoughts ahead of the big game between the Blues and the Eagles at Wembley.
However, supporters muted their TVs and took to Twitter to moan about the sound quality.
The sound issue was eventually fixed, but not after hoards of viewers complained.

The BBC had England’s Euros opener against Croatia before ITV showed the games against Scotland and Czech Republic.
Lineker and Co had the rights for the wins over Germany and Ukraine with more than 50million views across the two matches.
But it was the Pougatch party on Wednesday as a record-breaking 27.6m tuned in for the Denmark semi-final, with Harry Kane’s extra-time rebound securing the Three Lions’ spot in the final.

Euro 2020: There’s no getting Roy Keane into line – one dumb question during England vs Denmark and he’ll give me a look

THERE will be at least 20 million people watching on ITV on Wednesday night for the biggest broadcast of my career.I was lucky to do the World Cup semi-final against Croatia three years ago but I wasn’t in Moscow.
Roy Keane is every bit as fierce a pundit as he was a player, says ITV host Mark PougatchCredit: ITV
Mark Pougatch (second from right) with Keane, Patrick Vieira and Ian WrightCredit: Twitter @markpougatch
I’ll be at Wembley though, and there’s a nice correlation for me because 25 years ago I was in the crowd there for England v Germany in the semi-finals of Euro 96.
Back then I was working at Wimbledon for radio, did the early shift and went with my soon-to-be wife.
I’ve been to matches across the world and that was the best atmosphere I have ever experienced — it was off-the-scale electric.
There might not be as many fans tonight but I’m sure it will match it.
On Monday I started working on the script with the editor.
For football on a normal Sunday afternoon, or for highlights on a Saturday night, we might have around 3½ million people watching.
So there will be a lot of people tonight who don’t watch football every week.
We’ll talk football analysis and minutiae when we need to but we also have to respect the wider church.
COMPETITION: WIN A MERCEDES AMG A45S WORTH £51,000 PLUS UP TO £50k IN CASH

Wednesday night is about the huge occasion, emotion, nerves, Sweet Caroline. Alongside me I’ll have Gary Neville, Ian Wright and Roy Keane, with Emma Hayes on the touchline.
There is no getting Roy into line or indulging him.
It’s the same with any of them, if I ask a stupid question then I’ll get a look.
And at Wembley I will call Ian the country’s barometer. Our reading of him will be our reading of the nation’s mood — and I think he’ll be in a state of near self-combustion with excitement.
We’ve already had several conversations about how we go off air if England win and how we go off if they lose.

I don’t really have any superstitions, I just like getting there in plenty of time to ensure there is no stress.
Our studio is outdoors and we’ll stand throughout, which I love because it gives you more energy and movement.
Otherwise we’re like everyone else when the game’s on, clapping, oohing and aahing.
We will be talking to the people in the analysis truck so if there’s a goal or a red card, Ian in particular will ask to look at it and then we’ll decide on what to zone in on at half-time.

We’ve already had several conversations about how we go off air if England win and how we go off if they lose.
Afterwards we will go back to a Winnebago and have a cup of tea, or maybe something a little stronger.
This will be one of, if not the biggest, audiences I have presented to. I can’t wait.

ITV beating BBC with six of top seven Euro 2020 audiences as tens of millions tune in for England games

ITV are beating BBC in the battle of the Euro 2020 broadcasters with a staggering SIX of the top seven most-watched games.Incredibly, just ONE game shown on the Beeb – England’s tournament opener against Croatia – breaks into the top seven in terms of largest peak audiences.

The 1-0 victory saw 11.6million viewers tune in – the third-highest on the list.
But that figure pales in comparison to England’s 0-0 draw with Scotland which saw a whopping 19.9m fans turn over to ITV.
England’s 1-0 win over Czech Republic saw a peak audience of 14.6m viewers – good for No2 on the list.
And Monday night’s penalty-shootout thriller between France and Switzerland on ITV ranks No4 with 11.3m – just 300,000 fewer than England’s win over Croatia.
Belgium’s last 16 win over Portugal – also on ITV – completes the top five, with 10.5m fans tuning in.
ITV also saw the sixth and seventh-highest viewerships on the list, with 10m for Italy vs Wales and 9.5m for France vs Germany respectively.
Overall, ITV are averaging 5m viewers per game, with the BBC marginally trailing on 4.6m.
The BBC also trail their rivals in the excitement stakes, with 75 of the tournament’s 118 goals shown on ITV.

    SEVEN MOST-WATCHED EURO 2020 GAMES
England vs Scotland – 19.9m (ITV)
England vs Czech Republic – 14.6m (ITV)
England vs Croatia – 11.6m (BBC)
France vs Switzerland – 11.3m (ITV)
Belgium vs Portugal – 10.5m (ITV)
Italy vs Wales – 10m (ITV)
France vs Germany – 9.5m (ITV)

Among them ITV had all 14 goals from Monday evening’s thrilling double-header – Spain’s 5-3 extra-time win over Croatia and the 3-3 draw between France and Switzerland, won by the Swiss on penalties.
BBC are likely to crack the top five, if not push the ITV’s England vs Scotland game on Tuesday night as the Three Lions face Germany.
Gareth Southgate’s men continue their quest for a first tournament win since the 1966 World Cup with the draw now wide open.
With Holland out of the running, England’s route to the final – should they beat Germany – looks considerably easier.
The Three Lions would face one of Ukraine or Sweden in the quarter-finals and either Denmark or Czech Republic in the semis.
And with France and Portugal – winners of the last two major tournaments – now out of the running, their toughest potential opponents in the final look to be Belgium and Spain.

Twitter user Gio posted online: “This game is so exciting. ITV hub letting me watch this corner for 10 minutes in a row.”

Rodriguez’s corner was something of an anticlimax and world champions France for quickly up the pitch for a chance of their own.

ITV responded to complaints and tweeted: “We are currently experiencing technical difficulties and working on getting services back as soon as possible.”
