Anthony Joshua looks shredded in training ahead of Pulev clash but Lennox Lewis claims Tyson Fury ‘more dangerous’

ANTHONY JOSHUA has shown fans his incredible physique in training ahead of his heavyweight showdown with Kubrat Pulev.
Yet despite AJ’s countless efforts in the gym, Lennox Lewis has claimed his fellow Londoner will still be at a disadvantage when he faces Tyson Fury.

Joshua has already verbally agreed to a double header to face the Gypsy King for next year.
But the London 2012 gold medallist is first putting his WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight titles on the line against Bulgarian Pulev on December 12.
And AJ has once again wowed fans with his latest promo pictures ahead of the fight that showed the boxer flaunt his incredible bulging biceps.
He captioned the snaps on Instagram: “Each fight holds a story.”

You’ve got Fury, he is a switch hitter and he is going into the fight with a lot more dangerous things to watch out for
Lennox Lewis on Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua

Although countless fans swarmed to flood the comment section by hailing Joshua, Lennox Lewis issued a word of caution to the Watford star.
Lion shared his belief that Fury will emerge victorious over his fellow Brit when they finally meet in the ring in 2021.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, he said: “The Fury and Joshua fight, you have got two big guys and they can punch and they can box.
“You’ve got Fury, he is a switch hitter and he is going into the fight with a lot more dangerous things to watch out for – the fact that he can punch with left hand, with his right.

“He is a slugger as well, the way he went after Deontay (Wilder), nobody expected that. He said what he is going to do and he did it. I like guys who box with confidence like that.”

Lewis later revealed that Fury’s height compared to Joshua – the Gypsy King has three-inches on his rival – will give him a lot of advantages.
He added: “I have always said that it is always difficult boxing taller guys.
“He is 6ft 9, you are not going to get any sparring partners who are 6ft 9 to go in there.
“AJ has to figure that out as well. It is going to take him a few rounds.”

MIKE TYSON drew in his big boxing comeback against Roy Jones Jr in a messy affair in Los Angeles.
Jones Jr did the perfect job of stifling Tyson throughout the entire fight by clinching at any opportunity he could.

The fight was scored a draw and both boxers tried their best

You could almost tell it was going to be scored a draw half-way through – as nothing much was happening.
Here, SunSport tells the story of the fight between 54-year-old Tyson and 51-year-old Jones.
    Round One
Tyson rushes straight into it. Targets the body with some wild shots.
Lands a brilliant right on Jones Jr, but dealt with OK.

Two minutes flies by in the miniature ring.
    Round Two
Again Tyson charges forward with a double left hook to the body.
Jones Jr decides to tie up, referee tells the pair to clean it up.
Jones Jr dances around the ring, while Tyson looks flat-footed and already frustrated.

Tyson lands some solid shots at the end, a couple after the bell, but the two men hug it out.

    Round Three
Tyson lands a decent uppercut that forces Jones Jr to grapple again.
Both men already breathing heavy, the lack of crowd makes it even more obvious.
Jones Jr is using some spoiling tactics here, making it messy.
    Round Four
Tyson well out of range with most of the haymakers he is throwing.
But the referee should warn jones at least here, spoiling the spectacle

    Round Five
Boxers aren’t able to ‘exhibit’ their skills if Jones keeps grappling.
Tyson landed a huge left, Jones definitely felt that.
Burst of activity before the bell as both boxers go hell for leather.
    Round Six
Spoiling continues, maybe the small ring has changed up Jones’ tactics.
Tyson is surprisingly calm despite this, and is saving his shots.
Jones easily avoids some lumbering hooks.

    Round Eight
Tyson bulldozes forward, straight into a clinch.

Mike Tyson confirms he WILL fight again aged 54 after draw with Roy Jones Jr who hints at retirement at 51

MIKE TYSON says he will ‘absolutely’ have more boxing fights after he drew his comeback against Roy Jones Jr.
The former two-time heavyweight champion of the world can count himself unlucky not to have being named the winner in a messy affair.

Jones Jr turned it into a wrestling match at times, nullifying Tyson’s power.
The boxing legends went the full eight rounds on a historic night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
Speaking after the 16-minute scrap Tyson, 54 said: “I’m just happy I got this under my belt.
“I’m continuing to go further and do more. Absolutely [I’ll do this again].”

Jones Jr was less-certain, saying that he will wait to check what people thought before confirming he will fight on.
But Tyson then urged his opponent to stick with it, adding: “We gotta do this again.”
Jones Jr didn’t find the space in the small ring to dance around Tyson as many expected.
But similarly, the ‘Baddest Man On The Planet’ failed to find those hammer shots that many predicted would make a short night’s work.

Yet Iron Mike seemed happy enough with a draw.
He said: “I’m good with that. Yeah but I’m good with a draw.”
Despite being fortunate to get a share of the spoils, Jones Jr was less enthused with the decision.

He added: “Hell no. I’m never satisfied with a draw. The dude is so strong. The body shots definitely took a toll.”
Tyson was strongly rumoured to be chasing a trilogy fight against old foe Evander Holyfield before Jones Jr signed up for the fight.
With his inistsence that he will have more exhibition fights, it will raise hopes that Holyfield Part III could be on the cards.

Mike Tyson result: Boxing legends with combined age of 105 DRAW on judges scorecards in bizarre exhibition fight

MIKE TYSON and Roy Jones Jr fought to a DRAW in what proved a bizarre exhibition bout.
The legendary pair boxed over eight rounds in what ultimately provided more clinching than punching.

Tyson, at 54, somewhat rolled back the clock as he boxed with nothing but aggression throughout.
Whereas Jones, 51, looked to try and nick the result on the back foot, avoiding Iron Mike’s heavy-hands at all costs.
The mainly uneventful pay-per-view spectacle had little highlights, meaning the veteran duo avoided any risks to their health.
After the result was announced, Tyson said: “I’m good with a draw, because I entertained the crowd, the crowd was happy with it.”

The celebrated puncher had not fought for 15 years before the opening bell sounded.
And Tyson looked to try and pick off where he started, charging at Jones from the get-go.
But despite the pressure, it went largely to waste as the pair spent most their time clinching.
In the second round, again Jones came out light on his feet, flicking out his jab.

But whenever Tyson attempted to get into range and fire, he was grabbed.
Iron Mike did try switch to head and body, but it was telegraphed and blocked.
The third round will not live long in the memory as Jones spent the entire two minutes tying his man up, desperately avoiding a trade off.
Tyson came out aggressive in the fourth but again it ended up with them grabbing hold of each other.
Jones did land with his jab but his constant clinching canceled out any credit – so much so that he was warned with disqualification.
The fifth saw both men at least try and swing some punches but nothing clean landed.
Tyson was again pushing the pace and looked to have landed some short body shots on the inside.
Into the sixth and it was a similar story of coming togethers.

Tyson did show off some trademark footwork, pivoting off to the side but his hook and uppercut combination missed the target.
In round seven, Jones turned southpaw to try and land with a sharp left hand, but it did not pay off.
Tyson did manage to get Jones into the corner but again found himself smothering his own work.
Into the eighth and final round and both legends appeared to have a bolt in energy.
Tyson came charging out the blocks, again, with Jones making the space to land with his jab, the only punch he looked confident in throwing.
After some grabbing and shoving the bell to end it all sounded.
Despite the lack of action, the iconic former champions came out unscathed and even ready to fight another day.

Tyson said: “I’m used to doing it for three minutes, sometimes like two minutes or three minutes.
“I hope to go further, absolutely, and he can be on the card as well
“I was very happy to be here, despite what everyone says I was happy to go to eight rounds.
“Nobody thought I could go eight rounds, but you’ve got to go the distance, that’s boxing.”
Jones Jr adds: “We’ve got to do this again, everybody loves Mike, I love Mike too but it’s something else taking punches from Mike.
“I’ll go talk to my family, see how they feel about it and if they want to do it again, we’ll do it again.”
Jones responded: “We’ve got to do this again, everybody loves Mike, I love Mike too but it’s something else taking punches from Mike.
“I’ll go talk to my family, see how they feel about it and if they want to do it again, we’ll do it again.”

In the UK, it will cost fight fans £19.95 to watch the pair, with a combined age of 105, go to war.
In the US it will blast a much bigger hole in people’s wallets.
The price to see the legends trade leather will be $49.99, around £38.
If the fight goes all eight rounds, then Tyson could walk away with £7.5m.

That equates to £937,500 per round, £468,500 per minute and £7,812 per second.
Jones’ pay packet won’t be far behind.
Mike Tyson is estimated to have accrued over $300million throughout his boxing career, but ended up losing it all.
Forbes claim his total career earnings could even have been as high as $685million.

However, as of 2020 Tyson’s net worth is estimated to be just $3m, according to Wealthy Gorilla.
Like many sporting superstars, Tyson spent his money as quickly as he earned it on big expensive houses, flashy cars and even pet tigers.
The 53-year-old has been divorced twice, now on his third marriage and has a total of eight children.
He also served three years in prison after being convicted of rape in 1992.
In 2003, Tyson was forced to file for bankruptcy, with media at the time reporting he had $23m worth of debt.

Mauro Ranallo replacing Al Bernstein on Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr commentary as card goes through last-minute change

MIKE TYSON’S eagerly-anticipated comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr has been hit by a late change.
But the two boxing legends need not worry as it only concerns the COMMENTARY of their scrap.

Maura Ranallo will call the action for Mike Tyson vs Roy Jones Jr

Legendary broadcaster Al Bernstein has been replaced by former WWE mic man Mauro Ranallo.
It is not known what prompted the last-minute amendment.
And there is another star name set to sit alongside him – UFC middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.
And that’s not it – boxing Hall of Famer and former five-weight world champ Sugar Ray Leonard will call the action too.

With a combined age of 105, Tyson and Jones Jr do battle in Los Angeles tonight.
They will fight over eight, two minute rounds, and will be wearing larger 12oz gloves.
The fighters will not be wearing headgear.
Men’s boxing bouts usually run over three minute rounds and both stars have expressed their dismay at the shorter rounds.

In addition, the California State Commission have said that if either boxer is cut or injured the fight will be stopped, though it remains to be seen if referee Ray Corona will choose to halt it.
The World Boxing Council have created the WBC Frontline Battle Belt to give to the winner.
And they have former WBC champs Christy Martin, Vinny Pazienza and Chad Dawson scoring the fight remotely should it go all eight rounds for the WBC to decide a victor.

Daniel Dubois ‘three or four years off world title’ after being stunned by Joe Joyce, claims David Haye

DANIEL DUBOIS is ‘three or four years’ off a world title after his shattering defeat to Joe Joyce, says former champ David Haye.
Despite being a big favourite, Dubois was battered into his first loss by Olympic silver medallist Joyce.

It was all over in the tenth when Joyce landed a jab to Dubois’ closed and heavily swollen left eye.
Triple D sank to one knee, failed to beat referee Ian John Lewis’ count, and it was all over.
Speaking after the shock win at Church House in Westminster, Haye said: “I think Dubois is still three or four years off a world title.”
The 40-year-old former cruiserweight and heavyweight world champ was also critical at how the fight ended.

He added: “I was very unhappy with the way that he took a knee, after taking a shot to the eye.
“It is the hurt game. I am sure Carl [Frampton] is the same.”
Former two-weight world champ Frampton was also a BT Sport studio guest, and he claimed Dubois ‘will be haunted and regret’ not getting to his feet.
The Northern Irishman said: “I think that we all like Dubois, he’s a likeable guy.

“But if it’s someone we didn’t like wed say he’s a quitter. And I think he quit there.
“I have to be brutally honest, let’s call a spade a spade, he took a knee from a shot in the eye.
“His eye was a mess, his eye was closed but I get dragged out of the ring. I wouldn’t take a knee and get pulled out.”
Dubois was handed his first defeat, while Joyce remains unbeaten and left with the British, Commonwealth and European heavyweight titles.
And he inherits Dubois’ No2 ranking in the WBO, as he called out No1 rated Oleksandr Usyk.
