Anthony Joshua offers Deontay Wilder bout ‘when he’s man enough not to lie’ and slams rival for ‘trying to tarnish’ name

ANTHONY JOSHUA says he still wants to fight Deontay Wilder – when the American is done ‘lying’.
The two boxers failed to agree an undisputed scrap over the last couple of years before Wilder was flattened in losing the WBC belt to Fury.

As he desperate tries to get the trilogy bout against the Gypsy King, Wilder revealed he ‘was offered more money to fight Joshua’ than what he was paid for Fury II.
This contradicted his earlier claims that it was Joshua who was ‘ducking’ the fight.
Understandably, AJ and his promoter Eddie Hearn launched into The Bronze Bomber now the truth was finally out.
However Joshua is still keen to get it on in the ring as long as Wilder ‘stops tarnishing his name.

Speaking on DAZN show Off The Cuff, Joshua, who defends his world titles this weekend against Kubrat Puylev, said: “He [Wilder] is another challenger.
“Offer still stands when he’s ready and he’s man enough to not lie, be real. It wasn’t nice when they were trying to tarnish my name.
“It’ll be good to get stop PR stunts and get a fight underway.”
Wilder is currently disputing Team Fury’s claims that he ‘missed the deadline’ to agree to the trilogy.

If he wins his case, it could mean the Battle of Britain between Fury and Joshua is delayed.
Meanwhile Fury is fuming at Joshua’s cheeky offer to manage him into a ‘superstar’ and raged: ‘I’m only interested in smashing your face in’.
AJ recently urged his rival to sign with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom promotion stable and his own 258 Management group.
In response, Fury – who has starred in an ITV documentary about his family and released an Xmas song with Robbie Williams – said: “Anthony Joshua, has it ever dawned on you I’m not interested in being a superstar, or famous?
“I’m a fighting man & only interested in smashing your face in, u keep the stardom, I’ll stay real, #youbigdosser I’m coming for u superstar, tick tock tick tock.”
Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, have already verbally agreed a two-fight deal for 2021.

Tyson Fury slams Anthony Joshua for cheeky manager offer and rages ‘I’m only interested in smashing your face in’

TYSON FURY is fuming at Anthony Joshua’s cheeky offer to manage him into a ‘superstar’ and raged: ‘I’m only interested in smashing your face in’.

    — TYSON FURY (@Tyson_Fury) December 7, 2020

In response, Fury – who has starred in an ITV documentary about his family and released an Xmas song with Robbie Williams – said: “Anthony Joshua, has it ever dawned on you I’m not interested in being a superstar, or famous?
“I’m a fighting man & only interested in smashing your face in, u keep the stardom, I’ll stay real, #youbigdosser I’m coming for u superstar, tick tock tick tock.”
Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, have already verbally agreed a two-fight deal for 2021.
But AJ has to first beat IBF mandatory Kubrat Pulev, 39, this Saturday in front of 1,000 fans at Wembley Arena.

Fury – who is ready to face Joshua right away if Pulev is beaten – was offered a ringside seat by promoter Hearn.
And AJ went one further by even telling his rival to jump ship from Frank Warren and Top Rank to join his side of the street.
Joshua said: “I do think he should come over to Matchroom and 258 Management and let us handle his career.
“He’s a superstar in the making. With the right management he could go all the way.

“I see a lot of potential in Tyson, with the right management he could go far, so when he’s ready he can come over and we can get our fight underway.”

Fury had opened the door to face Joshua after he walked away from a trilogy bout with Deontay Wilder, who he beat in February.
Wilder, 35, launched a mediation to review his case after the Gypsy King claimed their immediate rematch clause expired.
As a result, Fury will decide on whether to fight Joshua or Wilder next, depending on the result of this Saturday’s interim bout.
But it is clear unified champion AJ wants nothing but a Battle of Britain with his great rival, which he claims can lift the nation’s spirits.

In an exclusive interview with SunSport, Joshua said: “Yes, the Fury fight is the one everyone wants and it will happen, 100 per cent.
“It will be huge for the nation. I am a risk taker, I have always taken risks and never dodged fights with anyone.
“I want to be remembered as a fighter who gave the fans what they want.
“But I don’t just want to be part of a great event — I want to win another great fight.
“Everyone has been through some tough s**t this year with the virus. People have been suffering with their health and financially.
“So it will lift every boxing fan, every sports fan, when this fight happens.”

Anthony Joshua’s loss to Ruiz Jr was ‘best thing to happen’ to him and will give him ‘edge’ over Tyson Fury, says Haye

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s stunning defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr was the “best thing thing to ever happen to him”, according to former heavyweight champion David Haye.
Ruiz turned the boxing world upside down last June by registering an emphatic stoppage victory over ‘AJ’ at Madison Square Garden.

ODDS SPECIAL 4/1 FOR JOSHUA TO WIN VIA KO, DQ OR TKOMobile only / UK and IRE, New customers only / 18+ / begambleaware.org
‘The Destroyer’ – a short-notice replacement for the disgraced Jarrell Miller – stopped the Brit in the seventh round to become Mexico’s first heavyweight champion.
Joshua exacted revenge on Ruiz six months later in Saudi Arabia, turning in a picture-perfect performance to reclaim the unified titles with a unanimous decision victory.
Joshua shed a considerable amount of muscle mass and worked extensively on the fundamentals of the sweet science in preparation for his second showdown with Ruiz, decisions that ended up paying dividends.

Although defeat to Ruiz bounced Joshua from the ranks of the unbeaten, Haye firmly believes the loss was a blessing in disguise for the 31-year-old.
The former cruiserweight and heavyweight champion told Sky Sports: “I think that was the best thing to ever happen to Anthony Joshua.
“I think he’s going to become the fighter he was always going to be, because he’s got that taste of defeat and he doesn’t like that.
‘None of us winners like that taste of defeat and if there’s anything humanly possible to get back into your winning run, no matter how hard you have to dedicate yourself, what type of sparring, what type of pain behind the scenes, you don’t want that feeling of a loss.”

Joshua will be back in action on Saturday night, defending his unified titles against Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev at the SSE Wembley Arena.
Victory over ‘The Cobra’ would see the Olympian move a huge step closer to the long-awaited Battle of Britain with WBC heavyweight king Tyson Fury.
Haye is relishing the possibility of the pair throwing down but is refusing to rule out Pulev throwing a spanner into the works.
He added: “This is a serious test for him now, Kubrat Pulev, and then it’s the big one.

“Then it’s the Tyson Fury fight and I think there is only one guy in the world who the oddsmakers will give a legitimate chance of beating Tyson Fury. That’s someone as powerful, as strong, as fast, as motivated as Anthony Joshua.
“He will be the underdog in that fight, but write Anthony Joshua off at your peril. I don’t think we’ve seen the best of Anthony Joshua yet. I think over the next three years the real Anthony Joshua will come out.
“He came to boxing late. He hasn’t been boxing since he was a little kid, like Tyson Fury. He’s had to fast-track himself and there have been gaps as he’s been fast-tracking himself, so he’s now filling these gaps in.”
Should Joshua do the business against Pulev, Haye reckons he’ll have a huge mental advantage going into a showdown with Fury.
He said: “It’s been a long, long time since Tyson Fury had the taste of a loss. A very, very long time. Many years.
“Anthony Joshua knows what it feels like recently, so I think that gives him a slight edge.
‘It sounds crazy. I think that gives him an edge, because he doesn’t want to rely on his natural attributes. He wants to make sure he wins this fight.”

Evander Holyfield reveals Mike Tyson trilogy ‘looks like it’s going to happen’ as old rivals prepare for battle

MIKE TYSON’S recent return to the ring could spark a trilogy of fights with fellow heavyweight legend Evander Holyfield.
Last month boxing fans across the globe tuned in to see 54-year-old Tyson battle to a draw in an exhibition fight with Roy Jones Jr.

Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield are in talks for a trilogyCredit: Rex Features

It was the American’s first fight in over 15 years after he worked himself back into terrific shape.
And it appears Holyfield wants to get in on the action after claiming negotiations are well underway to reunite with his rival.
Speaking to TMZ, the 58-year-old said: “We’ve definitely had conversations with them. It looks like it’s going to happen.
“Let’s do it, baby. Simple as that. Let’s do it.”

The pair have history that ended in Tyson biting off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear.
Holyfield upset the odds by taking his heavyweight title belt in 1996 before their rematch ended in Tyson’s disqualification following the ear incident.
Just last month Tyson admitted he would show no hesitation in biting his ear again if Holyfield showed dirty tactics in the fight.
The latter was accused of headbutting in which Tyson reacted angrily.

Mike Tyson famously bit off a chunk of Holyfield’s ear

Mike Tyson, right, recently stepped back inside the ring to fight Roy Jones Jr

He told Fox News: “I say, ‘No, never ever again’ but I might do it again.
“Well if he does what he was doing to get bitten, I would bite him again, yeah.”
If a deal to fight Tyson falls through, Holyfield could instead take on Glenn McCrory in April.
McCrory, 56, said: “I spoke to Holyfield on the phone the other night and he said he’ll fight me.
“He’s been scared of me for 30 years, but now he’s finally going to fight me. He’s getting brave.
“We’re looking at April, I’m talking to Joe Brown and Jim Freeman from the BKB company and they want to put it on at the O2 in April.”
McCrory last fought in 1993 when he was outpointed by Alfred Cole. He won 30 of his 39 fights, losing 8 and drawing one.

Kubrat Pulev net worth: How much money does Bulgarian have and how much will he make vs Anthony Joshua?

KUBRAT PULEV will bid to end Anthony Joshua’s second reign as unified heavyweight champion this weekend.
The former world title challenger, 39, will lock horns with ‘AJ’ at the SSE Wembley Arena on Saturday night.

The pair were supposed to throw down in the summer but saw their clash postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pulev, who has won his last eight in a row, will enter his second world title fight as a huge underdog.
But the Bulgarian’s latest crack at gold – the first of which came against Wladimir Klitschko six years ago – will see him pocket the biggest payday of his career.
What is Kubrat Pulev’s net worth?
According to Celebrity Net Worth, Pulev’s net worth is around £6.5million.

Most of that cash has been earned from some of his big fights in boxing, including bouts with Klitschko, Derek Chisora and Hughie Fury.

Pulev beat Derek Chisora when the pair faced off in 2016Credit: Getty – Contributor
Pulev will earn his highest ever pay day for his clash with Joshua, however.
How much will Kubrat Pulev earn for fighting Anthony Joshua?
Pulev is expected to take home a cool £5m for his meeting with Joshua, who he was originally scheduled to face in October 2017.
It’s currently unknown how much Joshua will take home for his latest title defence, although his purse is expected to dwarf the challenger’s.

Pulev’s payday for facing Joshua could end up being significantly less than £5million if he sticks to the vow he made ahead of the postponement of their summer meeting.
In April, ‘The Cobra’ revealed he intended to donate half of his purse to help the fight against the coronavirus.

“I will donate 50 per cent of the money I earn from the match with Joshua to the tireless heroes in the fight against the coronavirus,” Pulev told Bild.
“I will give doctors, nurses and hospitals the necessary equipment to deal with this devilish virus.”
Pulev is brimming with confidence ahead of his second shot at the unified heavyweight throne, which his promoter Bob Arum reckons he’ll claim in devastating fashion.
“It’s one thing to box and run around the ring, making out you’re second coming of Muhammad Ali when you’re fighting a fat, obese Andy Ruiz – but it’s going to be a different story when you’re fighting a fit and ready Pulev, who’s in great shape and a good boxer,” Arum told Betway Insider.

Anthony Joshua celebrates reclaiming the unified heavyweight titlesCredit: PA:Press Association/PA Images
“I believe Kubrat will be able to match Joshua with boxing ability and will have an opportunity to catch Joshua and knock him out. Pulev is very strong and has good pedigree, so Joshua won’t be able to run and do what he did to Ruiz in the rematch.
“Pulev has the ability to corner Joshua and to take him out, so I believe not only is Pulev going to win the fight but he’s going to win it by knockout.
“We promoted Ruiz 30 times and most of the time he had trouble impacting opponents with his power, so the fact he devastated Joshua so badly indicates to me Joshua has a big weakness and that is his inability to take a punch.”
“I’m not a fool, I’m talking about what I’ve seen: I saw Anthony Joshua got knocked on his ass and thoroughly beaten not so long ago.”

Anthony Joshua vs Pulev betting tips: Back AJ stoppage at massive 4/1, fight to go late – fight predictions

ANTHONY JOSHUA is back and ready to take on Bulgarian slugger Kubrat Pulev at Wembley Arena.

And now AJ is digging in to defend the belts he won back against Andy Ruiz Jr in December last year.

Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev betting tips
If any of AJ’s last few bouts are to go by, there’s going to millions staked before the fighters finally do battle in the capital.
The big question is – which Joshua do we see on December 12?
On the one hand, it could be the chiselled, heavy-punching Goliath that crushed all before him until Ruiz Jr rocked up and spoilt the party.
Or will Joshua turn up as the leaner, faster, more technically proficient specimen who won his belts back on that baking hot night in Riyadh?

Going by recent snaps, it looks like he’s been hitting the dumbbells hard and bulking up close to his previous size.
Either way, the bookies have him as overwhelming favourite to defend his WBO, WBA (Super), IBO and IBF titles.

If you’re sticking a tenner on AJ to win, enjoy your £1 profit should he do the business. He’s that short with most bookies.
In this situation you’ve got to get creative – and the good news is, there’s a whole heap of value to find on this fight.
We’ll get this out the way first; Pulev is a handy fighter, game as they come and tough as nails.
His only defeat has been against Wladimir Klischko and that was six years ago – but we’re not going to be putting our hard-earned on him winning this match-up against the Brit champ.
Pulev might be game, he might have a good chin – but we don’t see the 39-year-old veteran as dangerous enough to sink the Watford man.
What we do think, is this WON’T be a fight that will be over in the first three rounds.

Everyone loves a fast knockout, the thrill and adrenaline of the surprise sucker-punch.
But for AJ – nearly 12 months out of the ring remember – this is a comeback fight in which to shake off the rust and ease his way back ahead of a monster 2021.
As a result, we’re backing Joshua to take this one deep against a competitor who has gone the distance in five of his last seven bouts.
We all remember AJ steaming into the fast hands of Ruiz Jr in their first showdown, tasting the canvas four times as he was dismantled by the portly Mexican.
The humiliation of that night was a huge learning curve for Joshua and we’re excited to see how he approaches this one after his more restrained, mature performance in the rematch.

Sixteen of Joshua’s 21 wins have come within the first six rounds, but we are instead backing the Brit to get the job done in the 7-9th once he’s shaken off the cobwebs.
Since 2016, ALL of the champions six fights have gone seven rounds or more, with the likes of Carlos Takam (10th), Joseph Parker (distance) and Alexander Povetkin (7th) taking things long.
In fact the last time AJ powered a fighter out before the third round bell was Eric Molina four long years ago.
William Hill are offering new customers a massive 4/1 on the Brit star doing the business and winning by either KO, TKO or DQ.
And if you fancy a go at when the fight ends, pick the later rounds when AJ can unleash that awesome power against the tiring Bulgarian.
Our tip is for him to do the business in rounds 9-12, again at a hefty 4/1 – and have a quid on a round 11 victory at a whopping 20/1.
