Watch as Mike Tyson destroys Mark Young in 50 SECONDS in flashback to one of boxing legend’s most savage KOs

IT is 35 years to the day that Mike Tyson delivered one of the most brutal KO wins of his boxing career.
Having his FIFTEENTH fight of the year in 1985, Iron Mike destroyed Mark Young in just 50 SECONDS in their New York clash.

Mike Tyson hammered in this vicious right on Mark Young

Young was left flat on his back after the devastating right

It was also his 15th-straight stoppage win from 15 pro fights as his name started to become feared in the heavyweight division.
In fact seven of his last eight bouts had ended in the first round, and poor old Young wasn’t about to break that habit.
Young came out dancing around and swinging, and even landed some decent shots on Tyson, then aged 19.
But he was soon face-down on the canvas after a devastating right hand from Tyson.

Referee Sid Rubenstein began the count but after peering down immediately waved it off with Young out cold.
Tyson went on to record a number of similary brutal KO’s during his reign of terror in the sport.
And of course last month, at the age of 54, he made a sensational return to the sport when he fought fellow legend Roy Jones Jr in an eight-round exhibition.
The fight was scored a draw, with Tyson adamant he will continue to trade leather for the forseeable.

Young wasn’t going anywhere quick after being flattened

He is back in training again for the first time since his comeback fight.
In a clip shared on Instagram, Tyson lets his hands go with rapid speed, slipping and rolling in between, showing off smart defence.
A separate clip revealed the iconic puncher working solely on his defence, slipping several shots coming his way before bouncing on his toes.
Tyson and Jones are believed to have banked £60million for the 1.6million PPVs they sold.
And Iron Mike is ready to do it all again – keen to improve on his last performance.

Mike Tyson laughs as he explains bizarre moment he told reporter he’d broken back and shouted ‘spinal’ after Lewis loss

In trying to find the words to explain his loss, Tyson told stunned reporters in the ring that he had an injured back.
Iron Mike said at the time time: “I broke my back, my back is broken. Spinal!”
Now, 19 years later, the 54-year-old has tried to explain what he meant.
In an interview with Dan Cannobio of Compubox TV, Tyson said: “Well listen right, I have a bad back and since all of the work that I’ve put over the years, the spine in my back just starts shifting.

“I have to get the operation but the doctor said, ‘Hey eventually you’re gonna have to start bending over’.
“And so I was trying to explain my situation. I just wasn’t eloquent enough to explain it in the way I wanted it to be explained.”
Tyson is training again for the first time since his comeback fight against Roy Jones Jr.
The heavyweight legend returned to the ring after 15 years out in November, and did so with massive pay-per-view success.

Tyson has revealed he was told by a doctor that he would be ‘bent over’

Tyson, 54, and Jones, 51, boxed to a draw over eight exhibition rounds in a fight that provided more clinching than punching.
Iron Mike confirmed afterwards that he will lace up the gloves as soon as possible, and even called for a rematch.
And it appears he is wasting no time in preparing for his next fight after hitting the pads with trainer Rafael Cordeiro.

Mike Tyson compares his early days in boxing to a girl’s first period and questions whether he suffered mental breakdown

MIKE TYSON has likened his early days in boxing to a young girl experiencing her first period.
No fighter has shot to stardom quite like the American, 54, who retains the record as the youngest-ever world heavyweight champion.

In just over 18 months as a professional, Iron Mike won 28 fights and claimed his first heavyweight belt.
But his conduct out of the ring quickly drew significant attention and Tyson looks back on the time as something of a ‘mental breakdown’.
He told VladTV: “That stage in my life, I was dealing from a point of view of suffering, no self love.
“I was going through so many periods of my life during that time.

“In my professional boxing career, I was going through my growing period.
“Almost like a young girl having her period for the first time – everything is off-limits.
“It’s almost like you feel you own everything, you have no one to talk to, you don’t want feel nothing from nobody.
“I don’t know maybe it was a mental breakdown.”

Tyson battled several problems outside of the ring during a stunning boxing career, including a rape conviction and drug addiction.
He recently returned in a comeback clash against fellow veteran Roy Jones Jr, which ended in a draw.
Asked on his opinion of the greatest fighters of all-time, in a Mount Rushmore of boxing, the former champ insisted it was too hard to choose.
He continued: “Too many, I can’t do that.

“You want them up there, but you put those four guys on Mount Rushmore, right?
“And now name some great fighters and, ‘Ooo that guy should be up there’.
“You say this guy does this, this guy does that – woah! Different areas, different styles…”

Anthony Joshua claims Roy Keane would make ‘great’ boxer because of Man Utd legend’s no-nonsense attitude

ANTHONY JOSHUA claimed Roy Keane would have made a ‘great’ boxer because of his no-nonsense attitude.
The Manchester United legend was renowned for his hardman persona and tough tackling.

And heavyweight world champion AJ reckons it would have put Irishman Keane in good stead if he was to have picked up the gloves.
Joshua, 31, told DAZN: “If I was to pick a footballer who could make a great boxer… Roy Keane.
“Manchester United need someone like him, to get in there and say it how it is, doesn’t take any nonsense.
“In boxing, that’s the type of person you need to have.

“Eric Cantona, come in, shirt up, he had the aura of a champion.”
Joshua himself only began boxing aged 18 – but within five years he won Olympic Gold at the 2012 London Games.
Before his transition into the sweet science, AJ fancied himself as a talented footballer.
So much so, that his current camp manager David Ghansa, an inner-circle pal of 15 years, reckons the 6ft 6in, 17STONE star was Premier League quality.

Ghansa told Sky Sports: “He could barge people off the ball and win headers.
“At the time, he was so tall compared to everyone else and was finding his ‘man strength’.
“Charlton, QPR and Watford would always scout our team because they knew our coach.
“I felt like the next set of eyes would be on AJ because of his physical attributes.
“You could throw AJ up front and he would boot it into the back of the net or sit him at the back and let him defend.
“Could he have made it? If he applied himself fully. He has a knack for anything, it can be annoying.”

Oleksandr Usyk wants to fight Anthony Joshua in UK over money-spinning Saudi Arabia as P4P star calls out Deontay Wilder

OLEKSANDR USYK wants to fight Anthony Joshua in the UK rather than contest a big money-spinning bout in Saudi Arabia.
Joshua’s WBO mandatory challenger loves the British fans and described the people as ‘really nice’.

Although the Ukrainian, 33, is prepared to ‘put up a show wherever’ he would prefer to concede home advantage to heavyweight champ AJ rather than jet off to the Saudi desert – where Joshua reclaimed his belts against Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.
Usyk told SunSport: “As for me I don’t care where the fight takes place, I will put up a show wherever.
“However, I think Britain would be really cool because they are really great fans and really nice people.”
Usyk is the man potentially standing in the way of a mega two-fight deal worth £500million being agreed between Joshua and Tyson Fury.

AJ’s Matchroom stablemate hinted that he may step aside to allow the ‘once in a lifetime’ unification bout to go ahead.
Promoter Eddie Hearn said a deal for the Gypsy King to take on AJ in May or June 2021 is ‘verbally agreed’.
But Hearn has warned the pair will take a huge 80 per cent cut to their purse if the fight is held in the UK without fans amid the coronavirus pandemic.
After unifying the cruiserweight division before outpointing Dereck Chisora in his second heavyweight contest in November, Usyk is lining up his next opponent.

And despite admitting he is chasing the AJ fight, Usyk also called out former WBC champion Deontay Wilder.
Speaking exclusively to SunSport, he added: “There are a lot of guys who I would like to fight and would be happy to fight, like Deontay Wilder.”
The Bronze Bomber was sensationally dethroned by Fury in February and has since made outlandish claims trying to undermine the result, even suggesting his water was SPIKED.
But Usyk believes the Morecambe slugger got the job done fair and square.
He said: “I wouldn’t want to comment on his allegations but I do think the defeat was fair.
“Tyson Fury was the better boxer at the time.”

Tyson Fury trains in dark alone as he quotes Dark Knight villain Bane while preparing for Anthony Joshua fight

TYSON FURY took inspiration from Dark Knight Rises villain Bane as he trained in the dark alone.
Tom Hardy’s 2012 Batman character famously told the DC hero that he was ‘born’ in the dark.

And the Gypsy King appeared to be motivated by Bane as he uploaded a video on Twitter working out in pitch black.
Fury, 32, said: “Training in the dark alone, because I was born in the dark.
“I train alone, because no one’s going to help me when I’m in there fighting for my life.”
Fury is gearing up for the fight of his life as talks progress between himself and long-time rival Anthony Joshua.

But it will not be the first time the pair have shared the ring.
When a 20-year-old AJ was a raw novice in 2010 less than two years into his amateur training, Fury visited his Finchley ABC gym for some sparring.
The Gypsy King had planned to take it easy on the unknown kid but Joshua heard any man capable of KOing Fury could earn themselves his Rolex.
So when AJ caught him with a stunning uppercut that was the very start of their rivalry.

Joshua, 31, recalled: “Before that spar, Fury said, ‘If anyone can beat me up or knock me out, they can have my Rolex watch’.
“All I wanted was his Rolex watch. I was hungry then and I am even hungrier now.
“It was a good spar and I didn’t really know too much back then, it was just passion.
“Now I have some boxing IQ and passion, I know it will be a great fight.
“There was a Rolex on offer then but now there is an even bigger pot of gold at the end of this rainbow and I want to take his head off his shoulders when that fight happens.
“He knows about my uppercut, he knew about it from back then. Trust me, he knows what’s coming, he knows.” More

Anthony Joshua reveals why he didn’t call out Tyson Fury in Pulev post-fight interview and vows ‘I’ll take his belt’

ANTHONY JOSHUA revealed why he did not call out Tyson Fury after beating Kubrat Pulev – but this time vowed: ‘I’ll take his belt’.
AJ set up a historic undisputed title decider after knocking out Pulev in round nine.

Afterwards, he skated around the question on fighting Fury and instead insisted he was more interested in the WBC belt his long-time rival owns.
Opening up about the post-fight interview, Joshua told Sky Sports: “I basically said, ‘If Tyson Fury is the man with the belts, Tyson Fury is the man I want.’
“That basically says, ‘I’ll fight anyone who has that belt, there’s no problem with the person.’
“I just want to go for the undisputed championship. That’s what I was trying to say that night.

“He took it how he wanted to take it. I’ve never turned away from a fight. I’ve never announced a fight and not showed up.
“I’ve fought six to seven champions, in my short career. Tyson Fury is another one of them.
“There’s no reason as to why I see him any different to any other. If Tyson Fury is down, I’m ready, I’m keen.
“I’ve got four of the major belts, he’s got one. I’ll take that one from him.”

Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, this year verbally agreed a two-fight deal, which for the first time in heavyweight history would put the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO belts all on the line.
Now, it is the job of their management and promotional teams to draw up the contracts and put a deal in place.
But with the coronavirus pandemic continuing to prove unpredictable, Joshua would rather have the fight no earlier than June.
He said: “I think, maybe June, end of June.
“It needs a bit of time, because the pandemic’s unpredictable at the minute because we don’t know what’s happening.
“With a little more time, it gives us more time to prepare and plan.
“So right now, I said to the team let’s get ahead of the curb and start putting things in place now.
“They’re doing a great job. I promise you conversations and face-to-face meetings are happening with representations of my team and Tyson Fury’s team.”
