Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury ‘WON’T happen this year’ because of Deontay Wilder ‘rematch clause’ says Derek Chisora

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s eagerly-anticipated heavyweight title unification fight with Tyson Fury will be derailed by Deontay Wilder, according to Derek Chisora.
Negotiations over the long-awaited Battle of Britain are underway, with both parties confident of hashing out a deal.

But former world title challenger Chisora reckons the trilogy fight clause Wilder had placed in his contract to rematch Fury will delay the super-fight until 2022.
Del Boy told IFL TV: “The contract says he [Wilder] fights Tyson Fury three times.
“So why is everybody trying to come up with their own conclusion for?
“We’ve seen the first [Fury vs. Wilder] fight, we’ve seen the second fight, and now we’re going to see the third fight.

“So I’m hoping the third fight is going to happen. He’s going to fight Tyson Fury again in 2021.

“The fight WON’T happen this year because Deontay Wilder has got his rematch clause.
“I will bet you any money [Joshua-Fury doesn’t happen in 2021].”
Former WBC king Wilder began mediation last November after Fury abandoned plans to have a third fight.

Wilder and his team believe Fury is still contractually obliged to take part in a trilogy fight.
Team Fury, however, are adamant the American’s rematch clause expired last October.

But Chisora expects the presiding judge to rule in favour of Wilder, who lost the WBC strap to The Gypsy King last February.
He added: “Tyson Fury was supposed to fight a couple of months ago [against Agit Kabayel], and then Deontay Wilder went to court in America, and then they pulled the fight out.”
“There are problems, Deontay Wilder wants his rematch. That is it.
“If Deontay Wilder says ‘I’m going to step aside now so AJ and Tyson Fury can fight,’ yeah, but no, Deontay Wilder wants his rematch.”
Despite the prospect of potentially having to face Wilder again, Fury’s sights are firmly set on ripping the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO titles away from AJ.

And the former unified heavyweight champion reckons he can get the job done inside two rounds.
Fury told Sky Sports: “I don’t think he is as good as people talk him up to be.
“And I don’t believe he believes it himself, I think he has a confidence issue after two shaky performances and boxing is all about form.
“On his last two fights he is not in form and, on my last two, I am.
“Momentum is with me and, because of that, I believe I take him out early, very early, maybe inside one or two rounds.”

Tyson Fury says his mum can’t understand why he is so famous as she was confused by legion of fans following Wilder draw

TYSON FURY says his mum could not understand why he was so famous and asked him why so many people ask him for photographs and autographs.
The WBC champion is on a collision course with Anthony Joshua to unify the heavyweight division in a fight that could be worth £500m.

Tyson Fury’s mum does not understand why he is so famous and asks the world champion why so many people ask him for photographs and autograph

Whether his mother Amber will be in attendance remains to be seen, as she had never been to one of her son’s fights, amateur or pro, despite dad John playing a big part in the 32-year-old’s ring career.
In his autobiography, Behind The Mask, the heavyweight hero explained how his mum is not fully aware of his superstardom.
And she was puzzled when so many fans asked for pictures during a shopping trip following his 2018 draw with Deontay Wilder.
Fury wrote: “To be honest, my mum doesn’t fully understand what I have achieved as a boxer.

“I took her out shopping one time after the Wilder fight and I was being stopped for photographs and autographs everywhere I went in Manchester and she couldn’t understand it.
“She actually said, ‘Hey, son, how do you know so many people?’
“I had to explain to her that I was the heavyweight champion of the world and a lot of people had watched me and supported me. That was actually very special.”
Fury’s brothers Shane, Hughie and John Jr as well as wife Paris, who is currently holidaying with her husband in Miami, frequently join the heavyweight before his fights, however his dad John has been unable to travel to his Stateside bouts due to a prior jail sentence.

But the Gypsy King relishes the time spent with his mum, and revealed she even told him off for attempting to buy her a luxury designer Louis Vuitton bag during the shopping trip.
He continued: “It was a lovely time that I spent with my mum – just like any son would like to.
“I was able to treat her to her favourite perfume and I wanted to buy her a Louis Vuitton bag, but she ended up shouting at me, ‘Don’t be wasting your money on that. Save your money because you never know when you’ll need it!’.
“Only a mother would tell off a multimillionaire like that. She was more worried about me then she was herself and I guess that’s the way all good mothers are. I’m in awe of them.”

Deontay Wilder’s manager insists Tyson Fury talks ongoing as Anthony Joshua chases showdown

DEONTAY WILDER’s mediation with Tyson Fury over their fiercely-disputed trilogy fight is still ongoing, the American’s co-manager Shelley Finkel has revealed.
Former WBC king Wilder – who lost the belt to Fury last February – began legal action last November after The Gypsy King abandoned plans to face him for a third time.

Team Wilder believe Fury is still contractually obliged to give The Bronze Bomber a third fight.
Fury and his representatives, however, are adamant Wilder’s rematch clause expired last October.
A settlement has yet to be reached and will unlikely to come to fruition anytime soon.
Finkel told World Boxing News: “The mediation between Deontay Wilder and Tyson Fury has not yet ended.”

The ongoing legal action could delay Fury’s long-awaited heavyweight title unification fight with WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO champion Anthony Joshua.
Negotiations over the blockbuster bout are ongoing, although both parties are confident an agreement will soon be reached.
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, is well aware that Wilder’s legal action could delay the biggest fight in British boxing history and recently admitted he doesn’t foresee the matter being resolved anytime soon.
Speaking to Sky Sports ahead of Joshua’s KO win over Kubrat Pulev, the Matchroom Boxing chief said: “We try and avoid the mess, and keep discipline and focus on what we’re doing.

“The path for AJ has always been clear, with the ups and downs of the Ruiz fight, and getting that rematch over the line.
“But we know what we’re doing. December 12, it was announced probably eight weeks before the fight, we’re focused on the victory
“That’s their [Fury and Wilder’s] business, it’s a right mess either way, and it’s not going to resolve itself any time soon.
“Hopefully we can just make sure that if Anthony Joshua can beat Kubrat Pulev on December 12, then the path is clear for AJ against Fury in 2021.”

Despite the prospect of his eagerly-anticipated meeting with Fury being derailed, Joshua is confident the fight will happen.
In a guest column for Boxing News, Joshua said: “How close is the Fury fight? I promise you it’s happening.
“But until you hear it from me, don’t buy into anything. I’m serious about the fight so when I announce it you’ll know it’s real.
“I’m taking my time because there has been a lot of back-and-forth for years.

“I’ve been chasing this road to ‘undisputed’ and when the time is right I’ll announce it and I’ll have my mind fully focused on the job at hand.
“When it was Deontay Wilder in my way, that was my focus and he admitted we gave him lucrative offers that he turned down.
“Now it’s Tyson Fury that’s my pure focus. The offers will be made, substantial offers.
“I’ve fought many champions before so it’s obvious to see we’ve done business with world champions before.
“It’s no different with Fury, he should take this fight with both hands. The money will be split down the middle.”

Mike Tyson confirms he WILL fight again in 2021, insisting ‘It will be better this time’ after Roy Jones Jr bout

MIKE TYSON has confirmed he WILL box again this year.
The former undisputed heavyweight champion returned to the ring in November for an exhibition bout with Roy Jones Jr.

Tyson’s clash with the former four-weight world champion ended in a draw, but the 54-year-old showed he’s still got it with a better-than-expected display.
And during a recent Instagram Live with Patrick Mouratoglou, the Hall-of-Famer revealed he intends to take part in another exhibition later in the year.
When asked if he’ll lace up his gloves again, Tyson replied: “Yeah, absolutely. It’ll be better this time.”
Tyson, who retired from professional boxing in 2006, thoroughly enjoyed being back in the ring.

He added: “It was interesting. I felt really good, I felt confident. I felt that I could do it again.”
    Tyson’s long-awaited return to the ring generated a staggering 1.6million pay-per-view buys.
And the success of his comeback fight has prompted several former fighters to express an interest in joining his Legends Only League.
He said: “We started Legends Only League and it’s really interesting.

“Once I announced that I was going to do my exhibition, everybody, all these other athletes all wanted to get involved in some way.
“Our first show was a record breaker. Now everybody’s interested in being involved with our whole organisation.”
The biggest exhibition bout available to Tyson at this moment in time is a trilogy fight with former rival Evander Holyfield, who had his right ear bitten by Iron Mike in their 1997 rematch.
The pair are on good terms now, although Holyfield, also known as The Real Deal, would love to share the ring with his old foe again.

Last November, Holyfield said: “This is the fight that must happen for both our legacies.
“Saturday night you said you were ready to fight me, so sign the contract and get in the ring, Tyson. The world is waiting and it’s on you now. I’m ready.”
He added: “My side tried to make the fight happen and we got nothing but excuses.
“Now I can see why he wanted a tune-up fight before thinking about fighting me.
“Roy Jones was a good local opponent for Mike but a fight with me would be a global event and the only fight that anyone wants to see is a fight between us.
“There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t make it happen.”

Fabio Wardley has the fight fraternity sitting up and taking notice – he’s got the tools to set British boxing alight

FABIO WARDLEY was working in an Ipswich office as a recruitment consultant, enjoying helping people find gainful employment.
But at 22, he decided a desk job wasn’t for him and that he was in need of a career change.

Fabio Wardley sparked Richard Lartey in his last outingCredit: Matchroom

The new path Wardley, now 26, took was not only totally illogical, but it appeared a recipe for disaster.
On the flimsy evidence of four white-collar contests Fabio made up his mind to be a professional boxer — and one day become the heavyweight champion of the world.
At 6ft 5in and a super-fit 16 stone plus, he certainly looks the part.
But with no amateur experience at all, the idea he would make a fearsome impression as soon as he started punching for pay was laughable.

Yet from the moment he began three years ago Wardley had the fight fraternity sitting up and taking notice.
He has won all his ten fights. His debut was a points win but the other nine were knockout victories — several of them spectacular.
That’s a remarkable feat for a total novice.
Wardley’s last two fights, featured on Sky, were particularly praiseworthy against battle-hardened campaigners.

Fabio finished off Simon Vallily, the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist, with a venomous left hook to take the English title.
Even more impressive was seeing him unload a picture-perfect right cross against Richard Lartey’s chin, laying him out cold in the second round at Wembley, six weeks ago.
The African received oxygen in the ring for several minutes before he recovered from that blow.
Wardley demolished Lartey 6mins, 28secs faster than Daniel Dubois had 19 months before.

Fabio Wardley has sparred with undisputed heavyweight champion Anthony JoshuaCredit: INSTAGRAM@FABIOWARDLEY
And I believe that Wardley has the tools and ambition to set the British boxing scene alight in the next 12 months — Covid-19 permitting.
He is clearly intelligent enough. Not many fighters have thrown words like empathetic at me to make a point.
Managed by Dillian Whyte, he has also had the good sense to educate himself in the arts and crafts of the Noble Art.
He has sparred with all the top men, including Anthony Joshua, Tyson Fury, Oleksandr Usyk, Derek Chisora and Whyte.

But he has also found out early that he is now in the hurt business.
Training with Croatian Filip Hrgovic, he received a fractured eye socket — the same injury that Dubois suffered against Joe Joyce which forced him to take the knee.
Wardley refuses to criticise Dubois for what he did and said: “I know the pain and fear in your head when it happens.”
Everyone in Ipswich’s farming community knows a Suffolk Punch is a powerful draught horse once used to plough fields.
Suffolk Punch may take on a completely different connotation in the years ahead, thanks to Wardley’s two fists.

Barry Hearn plans to celebrate OBE with cricket special next summer

SPORTS KINGPIN Barry Hearn plans to pin the OBE to his cricket bat when he plays for Essex over-70s cricket side.
The 72-year-old was left surprisingly gobsmacked when an email dropped saying he would be recognised in the New Year Honours List for services to sport throughout an illustrious career.

It is long overdue when you consider his 45-year sporting record, perhaps unrivalled by any other sports promoter in the UK or abroad.
This is a man who has nurtured and managed the careers of world champions Steve Davis, Chris Eubank, Phil Taylor, Ronnie O’Sullivan and Anthony Joshua.
And though he has never forgotten his working-class roots, he jokes his cricket team-mates will be reminded of his gong when the season returns next summer.
Hearn said: “Not too much throws me out in life but that email did. We all like a little pat on the back sometimes, and this is a massive one.

“It’s a statement for all the wonderful people who work for me. It’s recognition which is quite humbling.
“My head might drop off as my smile is so big now. I’m chuffed as hell.

The big break for Hearn came when he managed Steve Davis, the six-time world snooker champion, in the 1980sCredit: Getty – Contributor
“I’m a very proud Englishman and the thought of going to Buckingham Palace to get my OBE is a life-changing moment. I wish my mum and dad were here to see it.
“I might wear my medal when I go out to bat. I’ve been invited to play for the Essex over-70s next year. My cricket will get more attention like my golf.

“Doing things which people didn’t think was possible has been my greatest compliment.
“Especially when I look at darts, turning a pub game into a global sport; rescuing snooker 11 years ago when it was dying on its feet; and my early days of boxing and with Steve Davis.
“Sport is special. It is what builds the character of a nation and unites us all, irrespective of colour, race or creed. Covid-19 has shown us that.
“One of the wonderful things about getting old and doing well in life is that you have the ability to tell the truth at all times.
“It’s also good to tell the truth because as you get older you cannot remember the lies.”

Hearn, a chartered accountant, established Matchroom Sport in 1982 in a Romford billiards hall and it has grown enormously over four decades, promoting darts, snooker, boxing, fishing, tenpin bowling and golf.
The company has offices in Brentwood, New York, Beijing, Shanghai and Munich, employs thousands of staff and puts on more than 650 event-days annually.
The Dagenham-born star previously owned Leyton Orient for 19 years, overseeing promotion as chairman to League One in 2006.
His son Eddie is the biggest boxing promoter in the world while daughter Katie is in charge of the company’s TV production arm.
Hearn said: “I’m on a mission to spread the gospel of sport and the pursuit of excellence. I will never change that even if it means I’m unpopular with people.
“My time is coming. Fortunately I’ve built a team of people that are capable of taking the sports we promote to another level. It’s a natural evolution that will happen over the next months and years.”

Anthony Joshua ‘locked in’ as he trains for potential Tyson Fury blockbuster in weighted vest and chains

ANTHONY JOSHUA’s sights are firmly set on a blockbuster showdown with Tyson Fury.
The unified heavyweight champion’s long-awaited Battle of Britain with The Gypsy King moved a huge step closer to coming to fruition earlier this month when he successfully defended his titles with a ninth-round KO of Kubrat Pulev.

Negotiations over the super-fight are currently ongoing, with both fighters’ camps confident an agreement will soon be reached.
With a potential legacy-defining fight with Fury right around the corner, Joshua has wasted no time in getting back to the gym.
The Olympian shared snaps of his latest workout to his official Instagram page on Wednesday night.
And it wasn’t one for the fainthearted.

One snap showed AJ appearing to finish a one-arm press-up whilst wearing a weighted vest and an additional weight chain.
The second showed Joshua staring into the camera whilst wearing the equipment, which added a considerable amount of bulk to his already heavy frame.
The post’s accompanying caption included a padlock emoji and the word “in” – meaning he’s locked in on his next mission.
Joshua followed up that post with an update to his Instagram story, which included a post-sparring snap with cruiserweight prospect Stephen Adentan.

Although Joshua’s showdown with Fury has yet to be finalised, the Olympic gold medallist is confident he will share the ring with the WBC heavyweight champion next year.

Mike Tyson scoffs four grams of magic mushrooms after smoking joint on Logan Paul podcast as legend opens up on drug use

MIKE TYSON caused a stir after scoffing four grams of magic mushrooms on Logan Paul’s podcast.
The legendary former heavyweight world champion also smoked a joint before ingesting the mind-bending mushrooms.

Mike Tyson guzzled magic mushrooms as he appeared on Logan Paul’s podcast

The legendary former heavyweight also smoked a joint on air

Tyson waited just FIVE minutes into the podcast before chewing his way through the magic mushrooms after being offered them by Paul’s Impaulsive podcast co-host Mike Majlak.
It led Tyson to declare his support for them to be made legal, adding ‘it’s going to be the best thing in the 21st century’ and that they ‘help me be a better me’.
Indeed, Tyson claimed he is a regular magic mushroom user and even knocked some back days before his comeback exhibition against Roy Jones Jr last month.
Tyson has made no secret of his drug history, having been a regular cocaine user in his prime.

He is a huge advocate for marijuana and even runs his own cannabis business.
Tyson also revealed earlier this month he took the psychedelic ‘Toad Venom’ drug to help him get in shape for his first fight in 15 years.
He said: “I took the medicine and the medicine told me to get into shape.
“It really blew my mind. It told me to come back and start getting in shape.”

Tyson also had a prediction for Paul’s upcoming fight with Floyd Mayweather on the podcast.
Despite talking directly to the YouTuber, Tyson hilariously claimed Mayweather was going to ‘beat his f***ing ass!’.
Tyson added: “There’s nothing good, he’s gonna fight back though, he’ll fight back.”
