Eddie Hearn names SEVEN possible Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury fight locations but doubts Wembley is an option

THE biggest fight in British boxing history between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury will NOT take place at Wembley Stadium.
That’s according to AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to meet in the ring in June after years of fans calling for the fightCredit: AFP or licensors

The undisputed world heavyweight title fight is set to take place at the end of June, with Hearn revealing they are ‘ready to sign’ to make the clash official.
However, the promoter does not believe the UK is a viable option despite Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown planning to remove restrictions as early as June 21.
Speaking to iFL TV, he said: “When you talk about the venue that is starting to move because we’re in a position time-wise where we’ve had to move.
“So, your next question is ‘where is it going to be?’ Well the answer to your question is it’s still wide open, but we are much further down the line than we were a week ago because we’ve had to speed that process up.

“Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, China, London, Las Vegas.
“Can you really sit there with confidence and say we’re going to be allowed 100,000 people in June in Wembley? You’ve answered the question.
“I don’t like to give people false hopes. I saw Bob’s interview. ‘Yeah, Wembley is an option, Vegas is an option’ – I don’t believe that. I don’t believe it is.
“Do you honestly think Bob Arum gives a monkeys about the UK fans? I mean come on. You’ve seen the comments about his fighters lately.

“Ultimately, they’re going to say to us ‘where can we generate the most money to hold this fight?’ Let’s not beat around the bush. And ultimately it’s going to be up to AJ and Tyson Fury to say ‘yep, we’re happy with that venue’.
“If you asked everybody myself, Frank Warren,Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua where they would like to do this fight, it’s Wembley, of course it is.
“But one, I don’t think that’s possible and two, we can’t ignore the fact this is the biggest fight in boxing, it’s going to generate so much interest, so much money, we can’t just ignore that fact.”
Here is all you need to know about each of the seven possible locations.

    Saudi Arabia
Joshua fought Andy Ruiz Jr in Diriyah at the end of 2019, but the venue – the Diriyah Arena – was purpose-built and taken down immediately after the Brit reclaimed his belts.
However, Fury has also entertained in Saudi Arabia when he fought Braun Strowman in WWE’s Crown Jewel event 18 months ago.
The Gypsy King wowed the 70,000-strong crowd at the King Fahd International Stadium, a potential venue for the Fury-Joshua clash.
Last month, restrictions in Saudi were extended for another 20 days.
It means that events, parties, weddings and corporate meetings should not exceed 20 people.
And there is no certainty as to whether restrictions will be lifted come the summer.
    Qatar
The Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar could well stage the Fury-Joshua super-fight.
With a capacity of 48,000 people, Hearn and co may well feel it is suitable for the heavyweight clash.
Coronavirus restrictions in Qatar currently include public transport, cinemas and gyms working at 30 per cent capacity, while offices are at 80 per cent capacity.
    Abu Dhabi
When it comes to Fury-Joshua taking place in the UAE, The Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium could well be the location.
It is currently home to Emirati football club Al Jazira Club and the UAE national team.
The venue can hold 42,000 people and has played host to football and cricket matches since opening in 1980.
Coronavirus restrictions mean those travelling to the UAE will have to return a negative Covid test less than 96 hours before departure.
    Singapore
The Singapore National Stadium holds 55,000 people and could well be in the running to stage Joshua-Fury.
Most shops and restaurants are open in Singapore, but social distancing is still taking place.
This means under current measures a mass event such as Fury-Joshua would not be able to take place.
    China
Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has discussed the idea of staging a fight in China in the past.
Arum has previously named gambling hotspot Macau as a possible location for a big heavyweight dust-up.
The likely venue in Macau would be the Centro Desportivo Olimpico, which holds more than 16,000 people.
In terms of coronavirus restrictions, there is testing for people attending social gatherings of more than 400 people and those flying in from abroad will be required to quarantine if they are not already on the banned list.
    London
If the fight takes place in the UK, then it will happen at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua has headlined the famous venue on two occasions, against Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, while Fury is yet to fight there.
The major stumbling block of the fight taking place in Britain remains the coronavirus restrictions.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes to remove all restrictions by June 21, but that date could be pushed back if the government’s criteria is not met.
    Las Vegas
Fury’s last three fights have all taken place in Las Vegas, including his sensational win over Deontay Wilder in February of last year.
The likely venue in Vegas would be the MGM Grand, a famous boxing arena that has staged some of the most iconic clashes ever.
Vegas authorities are hoping to re-open entertainment establishments as early as May 1, so coronavirus restrictions may not be a problem.
The number of daily new cases in Nevada currently stands at less than 400, the lowest since September.

A two-fight deal, which will see both men split the purse from their first meeting evenly, was agreed last June.
Both parties had earmarked late June for the long-awaited Battle of Britain, although Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum has revealed the bout could end up happening in early July.
The Top Rank Boxing chief told The Daily Mirror: “We’re nearly there.
“As far as I can ascertain, there are no issues separating the two sides. There has been consensus agreement in all issues.

“We hope very shortly that the fight will be signed. Then we will pick the site and we’ll be up and running.
“I’m looking towards late June or early July for the actual fight to take place.”

The news that Joshua vs Fury could take place in July is a huge boost for UK sports fans, who, from June 21 onwards, won’t be restricted from filling stadiums and arenas.

Arum’s update on the potential date for the fight comes a few days after he revealed the fine details of the £200million bout had been ironed out.
He told iFL TV: “Yeah as far as I am concerned. I’ve been working on it; all the points have been agreed to.
“That’s what each side has said. Now, we are scrambling around to get the thing signed and everything.
“But I can say clearly, based on my view on everything, that there are no more issues.”

Unified heavyweight king Joshua is champing at the bit to share the ring with his WBC counterpart and settling the long-running debate over who the best heavyweight in the world is.
During a JD Sports live stream last Sunday, AJ: “June should be the date.
“Trust me. For the fans, for the people that have been calling it on for many, many months.
“Shoutout to Fury and his team as well, hungry go-getters, that’s what we are.

“UK stand up. And to the world – we’re bringing it.
    “I can’t wait. Undisputed.”
SunSport understands an announcement for the blockbuster showdown is set to be made later this month.
A non-disclosure agreement has restricted both parties from discussing the fine details of the deal, much to the disappointment of many.

Mike Tyson training: The methods icon used to transform body from 4,000 calorie-a-day diet to brutal 4am runs

MIKE TYSON dramatically transformed his body back into fighting shape for his boxing comeback in 2020 – with more in store in 2021.
The American fought fellow legend Roy Jones Jr to a draw in November – his first fight in 15 years since he retired.

And now he’s readying himself to face former foe Evander Holyfield at some stage in 2021, with Lennox Lewis also registering his interest.
Back in the day, Tyson stuck to a strict and brutal training schedule and diet under his trainer and mentor Cus D’Amato.
And while it’s not known if the 54-year-old has kept to those standards, his stunning shape ahead of his ring return proves he is on the right track.
Here SunSport reveals Iron Mike’s iconic regime that helped him become the youngest heavyweight champion of all time aged 20.

    DIET
According to ManOfManny, Tyson used to consume anywhere from 3,000-4,000 calories a day.
He would start off with oatmeal, milk and vitamin supplements like magnesium and fish oil tablets.
For lunch he would go for chicken breast, as it’s a muscle-building food, high in protein and low in fat and carbohydrates.
His carbs were made up of rice, which is packed full of whole grains and provided him with energy.

His favourite drink was orange juice, full of Vitamin C and natural sugars, to lift calorie consumption while giving a healthy energy boost.

For dinner Iron Mike got a nice blend of protein between steak and pasta.
And he would again enjoy a glass of OJ to go with it.
In between meals Tyson had a protein shake blended with SIX bananas, to aid muscle growth and recovery.
And as a heavyweight, he did not need to worry about making weight, meaning he could enjoy a cheat snack every now and then.
He loved ice cream and cereal – both loaded with sugar.

    TRAINING
In a breakdown released by Bodhizone, Tyson’s workout schedule was rammed.
Like most boxers in the past, Iron Mike would start his day early with a three to five-mile jog around 4am.
After two hours he would come back, shower and go to sleep again until about 10am, when it was time for breakfast.
By midday he would be in the gym for his first boxing session, which was normally ten straight rounds of sparring.
Tyson then did three sets of Calisthenics, including squats, tricep extensions, pushups, shrugs with 30 kilos and neck crunches.

Overall, he would perform ten sets of each over his six days of training.
Afterwards, at 2pm the heavyweight would then have lunch before returning back to the gym for more boxing.
This consisted of sparring, bag work, pads with his trainer, and an hour on the stationary bike as well as more Calisthenics.
At 5pm, Tyson would do four more sets of the same calisthenics routine and then slow shadow boxing, focusing on just ONE technique.
Two hours later he would have dinner, before his final session of the day at 8pm, which was a light 30 minutes on the exercise bike for recovery purposes.
Tyson was in bed at 9pm, watching TV or studying fight films before hitting the hay.

    REST
Tyson trained six days a week, taking Sunday off.
He would do extra chores around Cus’ house or watch old fight films with his coaches while not training.
Now, Tyson enjoys smoking marijuana, as he owns his own ranch in California.
The two-time champion claims to be burning through around £33,000-a-week alongside his business partner Eben Britton.

But he revealed he stopped taking marijuana while in camp.
He said on Joe Rogan’s Podcast: “Pretty much stopped, when you do something like this it’s all about change.
“Listen, you can’t continue being a comedian if you’re not sharpening your psyche.
“Even when you’re doing this here, you’re practising your comedian act. You have to continue to practice.”

Andy Ruiz Jr shows off body transformation and confirms ring return but Whyte tells him to ‘shut up’ in blunt response

ANDY RUIZ JR confirmed his return to the ring on April 24 – but Dillian Whyte told him to ‘shut up’ in a blunt response.
The Mexican-American has not fought since December 2019, when he lost an immediate rematch against Anthony Joshua.

But he is now in line for a comeback, 16-months on with a shock pay-per-view fight against Chris Arreola.
Ruiz, who has dramatically transformed his body since ballooning up to 20STONE, shared a workout video online.
He wrote: “It’s official! April 24, we’re back baby. Can’t wait to show everyone the hard work we’ve been putting in.”
But Whyte, 32, responded: “Shut up Andy.”

The Brit was in talks to fight Ruiz, 31, last year with promoter Eddie Hearn keen on staging the heavyweight headliner.
But negotiations broke down with Whyte instead fighting Alexander Povetkin, 41, last August where he suffered a shock loss.
He is now rematching Russian Povetkin on March 27 in Gibraltar, with the chance to win back his WBC mandatory status.
Ruiz shot to fame in June 2019, when he stepped in for drug cheat Jarrell Miller, 32, and challenged Joshua, 31.

He pulled off a stunning upset, dropping AJ four times in New York on the way to a seventh round stoppage.
But Ruiz put on a FULL STONE for the rematch in Saudi Arabia six months layer and laboured to a points loss over 12-rounds.
Since then, he has switched training camps and linked up with Canelo Alvarez’s esteemed coach Eddy Reynoso in their adopted San Diego base.
And Ruiz appears to be reaping the rewards, with a recent picture showing the underdog hero trimmer than ever before.
The man who awaits him, Arreola, 40, was once knocked out by ex-WBC king Deontay Wilder in 2016.
The American has only fought three times since that defeat, with his current record standing at 38–6–1 with two no-contests.
Like Ruiz, Arreola has not been seen since December 2019, in a losing effort against Adam Kownacki.
But he has long been touted as Ruiz’s comeback opponent, with discussions progressing for over a year.

Canelo Alvarez is ‘better than Mike Tyson’ and would BEAT Anthony Joshua ‘if he was bigger’, claims Yildirim’s manager

CANELO ALVAREZ is ‘better than Mike Tyson’ and would BEAT Anthony Joshua ‘if he was bigger’, Avni Yildirim’s manager said.
Canelo retained his super-middleweight crown with ease at the end of February, after mandatory challenger Yildirim was pulled out before round three.

Alvarez, 30, is a four-division champion and the current pound-for-pound king.
He is so gifted, Yildirim’s manager Ahmet Oner would back him him to better heavyweight Anthony Joshua, 31, if he had the size to do so.
Oner told George Ebro: “I don’t think anyone can beat him in the division. If he was bigger, he could even beat Anthony Joshua.
“He is a monster. He hit Avni in the third round and I saw that he wasn’t reacting to his coach’s questions.

“We made the decision to remove him. He is 29-years-old. Canelo is in a different league.”
Canelo, who started his career at welterweight, moved as high as light-heavyweight in 2019, to knock out Sergey Kovalev, winning the WBO belt.
But he later ruled out a step up to cruiserweight, and admitted super-middle was his optimum division.
Roy Jones Jr became the first man in 106 years to reign as middleweight champion and win a heavyweight title, after he beat John Ruiz in 2003.

Canelo is on course for a May 8 unification with Billy Joe Saunders, 31, defending his WBC and WBA belts while challenging fo the WBO version.
But Oner warned no one around the Mexican’s weight will dethrone him, comparing the superstar to heavyweight icon Tyson, now 54.
He said: “Canelo is very strong. There is only one Canelo.
“Put in Jermall Charlo, Dirrell, Billy Joe Saunders. All of them will be defeated by Canelo.
“He’s better than Mike Tyson, more solid. He will never lose to minor boxers.”

Derek Chisora shares Joseph Parker phone call as Brit urges Kiwi to agree May 1 showdown

DEREK CHISORA has verbally agreed a May showdown with Joseph Parker after sharing a call between the pair.
The British heavyweight has been bombarding the New Zealander through the night in a bid to set up a summer fight in the UK.

And Chisora tweeted that he finally got through in which Parker joked that the late hour is why he’s been refusing to pick up.
But after a bit of back and forth about their gym work, the pair both claimed they were ready to step in the ring on May 1.

The heavyweights were due to fight in October 2019, but Parker pulled out with a freak injury after being bitten by a SPIDER.

Chisora, 36, went on to instead face and beat David Price, 37, before unsuccessfully challenging ex-cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk, 34.
Yet he has now turned his attention back to Parker, who called him a ‘donkey’ following his win over Junior Fa.
The Kiwi, a friend of Tyson Fury’s who was beaten by Anthony Joshua in 2018 and Dillian Whyte a year later, has won his last four.
Their latest phone call came after the pair were told that they were running out of time to finalise a fight date.

Parker’s manager David Higgins told Sky Sports: “There’s about nine weeks and if Joseph would leave New Zealand at the end of this week, there’s only eight weeks, so touch and go.

“If we’re going to take the fight at only eight weeks, everyone would have to agree terms right now in the next 48 hours. There are discussions going on.
“A base contract was already developed for the previous fight. There are things in our favour. Duco, my company, and Matchroom have made quick deals before and have worked together well.
“Both guys want the fight. It’s very possible we can put it together. We’ll probably set a drop date at the end of this week.”

Filip Hrgovic being lined up as Anthony Joshua’s IBF mandatory as Croatian beast compared to Wladimir Klitschko

UNBEATEN heavyweight star Filip Hrgovic will become Anthony Joshua’s IBF mandatory if he beats Michael Hunter in their upcoming bout.
The Croatian knockout specialist – who has been compared to Ukrainian legend Wladimir Klitschko – has racked up 12 consecutive victories since his debut in 2017.

Filip Hrgovic is undefeated in 12 professional fights, with ten of his victories coming by way of knockoutCredit: News Group Newspapers Ltd

A bronze medallist at the Rio 2016 Olympics, the 28-year-old has stopped ten of his opponents, with all of his last five bouts ending before the sixth round.
But he faces the biggest test of his career in either April or May when he pits his wits against America’s Michael Hunter in an IBF final eliminator.
The winner would then be tasked with facing Joshua or Tyson Fury with the British pair expected to compete in an undisputed encounter.
Commenting on who he would prefer Hrgovic to box, his promoter Nisse Sauerland told Sky Sports: “I know who I would prefer to fight.

“I would prefer Filip to fight Joshua, simply stylistically. They are both big, strong guys but Filip can move more and is less robotic.
“Fury is a nightmare for anyone because you just don’t know what he will do. It’s amazing what Fury can do for such a big man.
“Joshua is a powerhouse, he’s an Adonis. But if I had to pick someone stylistically for Filip? I would pick Joshua.”
Hrgovic’s next opponent Hunter has lost just once in 21 bouts – a 2017 points defeat against Oleksandr Usyk for the WBO cruiserweight title.

And Sauerland is aware of the danger the 32-year-old possesses, as he said: “Hunter is game. You can’t knock him.
“He’s been a road warrior, stopping Martin Bakole and having a close fight with Alexander Povetkin.
“This isn’t an easy fight but we believe Filip has the tools to win. Hunter is a great fighter but the size and power of Filip will be too much for him.
“Filip has only had 12 fights so we’re happy that he’s getting a proper test. We didn’t hesitate. You would be crazy not to accept.
“It’s a good fight. We have wanted a step up the whole time. But people out-price themselves when it’s time to fight Filip.”

“I’m p***ed off with him now. Jospeh, I’m very upset with you, man, I’ve called you ten times and you haven’t answered.”
Luckily, Parker, 29, saw the funny side of it, tweeting: “Was having the best sleep too.”

Chisora, 36, went on to instead face and beat David Price, 37, before challenging ex-cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk, 34.
