Anthony Joshua is like Mike Tyson and is ONLY man who can beat Tyson Fury despite being ‘worse boxer’, says Bellew

ANTHONY JOSHUA has been backed as the biggest heavyweight star since Mike Tyson and the only man capable of beating Tyson Fury.
Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, have signed a two-fight deal to secure a historic undisputed title decider.

Anthony Joshua has signed to fight Tyson Fury

Tony Bellew says Anthony Joshua is the biggest heavyweight star since Mike Tyson

It will promise, for the first time ever, that one heavyweight champion reigns as the WBC, WBC, IBF and WBO undisputed champion.
Tony Bellew believes the Brit pair are bringing attention to the blue ribband division not seen since Iron Mike’s most destructive days.
Retired Bellew, 38, told talkSPORT: “Anthony Joshua is I think on par with Canelo as the face of our sport.
“There’s not a bigger name in the sport than Anthony Joshua right now. He’s crossed over boundaries, he’s now a face amongst the big sporting names.

“This guy could draw in a 100,000 crowd. He’s phenomenal and Tyson Fury is the king of comebacks.
“His story with the mental health issues – it’s just unbelievable that he came back. It’s fantastic what he’s done.
“To put it purely into context, it’s all of the belts on the line. This is what the boxing world needs.
“The most recognisable face in the history of sport has to be Muhammad Ali, that’s a boxer.

“These guys now have the opportunity to take boxing back to that magnitude, back to that level. Because it hasn’t been taken there since Mike Tyson.
“Mike Tyson is the last polarising figure that really set the world alight with the marketing and everyone wanted a piece of him.
“Anthony Joshua’s getting to that level of what Mike Tyson was, and Tyson Fury is slowly catching up behind him.
“Make no mistake, these guys are mega stars. This is the biggest fight this country has ever seen and I’m so, so happy it’s happening.”
Joshua stands as the unified champion, with only one loss to his name, a defeat to Andy Ruiz Jr in June 2019 that he avenged six months later.
Fury is unbeaten in 31 fights, with a 2018 draw against Deontay Wilder, 35, the sole blemish on his record.

But he dominated Wilder in the rematch last February, to dethrone the American of the WBC crown.
Fury’s masterful boxing skills has Bellew – who twice fought at heavyweight with wins over David Haye – admitting he is the better technician than AJ.
But he tipped Joshua to throw caution to the wind and find a way to win inside the first half of the fight – or else find himself staring defeat in the face.
He said: “I believe he is the only guy who has the tools to beat Tyson Fury.
“He’s the man who can get close enough, he’s the man who throws punches that are fast enough to land, he hits hard enough to drop him and hurt him.
“Nobody else in the world has the skillset that Anthony Joshua has. Nobody is technically at the same level as Anthony Joshua.

“I’m not saying he’s better than Tyson Fury – Tyson Fury is a better boxer than Anthony Joshua, but Anthony Joshua moves quicker than Tyson Fury.
“Anthony Joshua’s explosive power is bigger than Tyson Fury’s, Anthony Joshua’s combination punching is quicker than Tyson Fury’s.
“Tyson Fury is quicker with one punch, with the speed of the jab and the speed of the feet, but he is not faster with the combinations.
“I do think it’s got to happen inside the first six rounds for Anthony Joshua If it doesn’t, I don’t think he beats him.
“Tyson Fury is very, very hard to work out, but I still stand by Anthony Joshua.
“I just think he will jump on him, he won’t care what’s coming back, and that’s the only way to beat Tyson Fury.”

Floyd Mayweather confirms he will ‘work with Anthony Joshua real soon’ and breaks down ‘intriguing’ Tyson Fury fight

FLOYD MAYWEATHER confirmed he will be ‘working with Anthony Joshua real soon’ as he broke down the ‘intriguing’ Tyson Fury fight.
Mayweather has enjoyed a blossoming friendship with Joshua in recent years, even showing up ringside at the Brit’s last win in December.

And Fury has also been in the American boxing legend’s company, partying with him in Las Vegas.
But Mayweather – who announced plans to move into coaching last year – revealed he regularly speaks to Joshua.
And while it is not clear what capacity the pair will work alongside each other, it appears something is in the works.
Mayweather, 44, told entrepreneur Rob Moore: “Anthony Joshua has a lot of experience, Tyson Fury as well has a lot of experience.

“But I think with Anthony Joshua losing a fight, that helped him become stronger.
“I look forward to working with Anthony Joshua real soon, we communicate all the time, we talk all the time.
“I’ve met Tyson Fury on a few occasions, great guy, very interesting, after the fight I like to see him sing.
“I haven’t seen him fight a lot of times, I’ve seen him fight probably only twice. I’ve only seen Tyson Fury fight twice, against Deontay Wilder.

Joshua, 31, and Fury, 32, have signed a two-fight deal for their historic undisputed title decider.
It will see, for the first time in heavyweight history, all four WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO titles on the line.
But nothing will be official until a date and venue is finalised.

Anthony Joshua mixing it up in training for ‘versatile’ Tyson Fury as coach admits he has to make ‘dedicated’ champ rest

ANTHONY JOSHUA is mixing up his training for ‘versatile’ Tyson Fury and will have to be forced to rest, his coach has revealed.
Joshua and Fury are expected to finally meet this summer in a historic undisputed title decider.

It was yesterday announced the pair had signed a two-fight deal and preparations are already underway for the unification.
Fury, 32, last fought in February last year as he switched up his usually cautious style to become the aggressor and walk down Deontay Wilder, winning in round seven.
It has kept AJ, 31, preparing for all versions of his rival, so much so his coaches are pleading with him to take a breather.
Coach Joby Clayton, who works alongside head coach Rob McCracken, told Sky Sports: “It’s never too early to talk about basic game plans.

“We are laying the foundations in preparation for camp. My job is to prepare AJ to his best ability.
“I know that when AJ is AJ, he’s a handful for anybody. The most important thing is that he focuses on himself.
“Fury is a very versatile athlete so I am personally focusing on AJ, and what he brings to the table to combat a whole host of techniques and tactics that he might face.
“AJ is doing some wonderful work, training with a wonderful energy. This is a special time in his career.

“I’m excited to see what the next few months hold. I have a saying; coaches have to get boxers to train, but they have to get champions to rest.
“We have to make sure AJ rests at the appropriate times because he is so dedicated.”
For the first time in heavyweight history, all four WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO belts are set to be at stake.
Despite an agreement being signed, nothing is official until a venue and date is finalised.
Promoter Eddie Hearn said:  “All parties have now put pen to paper and we will be working hard over the next few weeks to confirm the site and date for the biggest fight in boxing.”

Anthony Joshua predicted he would fight Tyson Fury in 2021 in brilliant video call between pair two years ago

ANTHONY JOSHUA named the date of his mega showdown with Tyson Fury two years BEFORE the contracts were signed.
During a phone conversation between the two filmed as part of ITV’s documentary on the Gypsy King, the bombshell was dropped.

Anthony Joshua predicted a 2021 bout with Tyson Fury in a televised video call two years ago

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua shared a phone call back in 2019, and talk turned inevitably to their fight

On a video call with Joshua while sat in a pub, Fury chatted jovially with his rival.
He said during the 2019 recording: “What’s happening AJ?”
The 31-year-old replied: “Training, keeping life simple. What’s been happening? Training good? Family good?”
To which Fury added: “I’m all good brother.”

The documentary was filmed in the build-up to the Gypsy King’s rematch with Deontay Wilder, which he famously won to claim the WBC belt.
And yet AJ was quickly down to business and looking forward to their own eventual showdown.

He asked: “When are we fighting?”
Fury retorted ‘behave yourself!’ before Joshua dropped in: “It sounds like 2021.”

A laughing Fury replied in front of chuckling bar staff: “I only called you up to say hello.”
Fast forward to March 2021 and the pair have now signed on the dotted line to face off twice in the coming months.

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury: What date will fight take place, where will it happen, how much money will both earn?

ANTHONY JOSHUA vs Tyson Fury is the fight EVERY boxing fan wants to see – so just when will these two Brit superstars get it on in the ring?
Both are coming off big victories, and 2021 should be the year they finally meet face-to-face in the squared circle.

Joshua vs Fury – when will it happen?

According to multiple players close to the deal – this summer.
During the summer of 2020, news had spread that the pair verbally agreed to terms on a two-fight deal for 2021, providing the pair could skate through their next challenges unscathed.
Joshua held up his end of the bargain by knocking out Kubrat Pulev, while Fury looks like he’s managed to escape a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, has repeatedly touted ‘late May, early June 2021’ as a rough date for the mega-bout.

And earlier today, Hearn confirmed both sides had SIGNED an agreement to fight twice this year.
He told ESPN: “We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month.
“The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper. But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.
“I just feel that this fight is so big it’s not a difficult sell. We’ve already had approaches from eight or nine sites. The offers have come from multiple countries in the Middle East, from Asia, Eastern Europe and America.

“This is the biggest fight in boxing and one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” Hearn said.

Joshua vs Fury – where will it take place?
Sorry British boxing fans – but Wembley Stadium in London looks to be completely off the cards, at least for the first fight anyway.
Ideally, all parties involved with making Joshua vs Fury will want as many fans as possible in attendance to capitalise on a likely huge and historic gate.
The coronavirus pandemic has kept fans out of British boxing arenas since March 2020, apart from the 1,000 that were allowed to watch Joshua vs Pulev on December 12.

The UK is still in a lockdown, with the situation to be reviewed in mid-February, so it’s looking unlikely that 90,000 fans will be allowed into any venues come early summer.
As for venues abroad… Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Singapore, Australia and the U.S. all look to be viable options.
It’s now just about which country stumps up the most money to host the fight. Saudi already have a good relationship with Hearn, Joshua and Matchroom, having hosted AJ’s rematch with Andy Ruiz Jr in 2019.
Fury has also competed in Saudi, albeit in a WWE ring rather than a boxing one.
Joshua vs Fury – how much will they earn?
A lot. That’s the simple answer. Both Joshua and Fury have already made upwards of £40million each for their respective fights with Ruiz Jr and Wilder.
So when they fight each other, expect the figures to be at last double that.
Hearn also spoke last week about how he expects the pair to make ‘Mayweather money’, referencing the grand purses Floyd used to pull in for his fights.

“It’s certainly I think, you know, the biggest fight, the most lucrative fight, in boxing right now – unquestionably,” Hearn said.
“That’s Mayweather money. You know? And we haven’t seen Mayweather money since Mayweather.
“I think it’s impossible to give a number. There’s no set purses for this fight because, obviously, it’s a revenue share. But it’s certainly gonna break records everywhere.”
It’s been speculated, however, that the pair could earn £80m each.
Joshua vs Fury – what hurdles are left to clear?
Back in the latter months of 2020, there were quite a few, but we look to be in a much stronger position right now.
First, Joshua had to beat Pulev, which he did emphatically with a 9th-round knockout.
Fury had been targeting a third fight with Wilder, but once that didn’t come to fruition, an interim bout with Agit Kabayel has been planned – but that also fell through.
It seems Fury decided his best bet would be to wait it out until he can fight AJ.

One problem he has, however, is Wilder, who believes the clause he exercised to compete in a third fight hasn’t been honoured.
Team Fury says the clause expired back in October, while Wilder’s side have gone the legal route to get that trilogy rematch.
Neither Hearn nor Fury’s American promoter Bob Arum expect there to be any way Wilder can win that case, and they expect Joshua vs Fury to happen.

Usyk is the WBO heavyweight title mandatory challengerCredit: Getty – Contributor
There’s also the WBO mandatory situation, and while not one that will prohibit the fight from happening, one that could affect which belts are on the line.
Oleksandr Usyk is the WBO’s mandatory challenger, but earlier this week, a from Boxing Scene stated that a hurdle has been cleared in that respect, and that the WBO title WILL be on the line for Joshua Fury.
Expect Usyk to be handsomely paid in the meantime.
Joshua vs Fury – what channel will it be on in the UK?
This could be a tricky one.
Joshua has an exclusive deal with Sky Sports in the UK, and while Fury’s deal with BT Sport isn’t exclusive, he’s closely aligned with them.
Fury, however, has fought on Sky Sports Box Office before, most notably for his world heavyweight title win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.

Eddie Hearn says the fight will be signed in the next four weeksCredit: PA:Press Association
Don’t be surprised if the two sides come to an agreement where both Sky and BT decide to work together on a dual-broadcast.
In the U.S., the situation is also tricky.
Fury has an exclusive deal with ESPN, while Joshua’s last four fights have been shown on streaming service DAZN in the U.S.
ESPN offer a pay-per-view service for their big fight nights while DAZN work on a subscription-based model, making a deal for the fight to be shown on both channels difficult.
Joshua vs Fury – what have they all said?
Joshua: “How close is the Fury fight? I promise you it’s happening.
“But until you hear it from me, don’t buy into anything. I’m serious about the fight so when I announce it you’ll know it’s real.”

Another positive meeting with @258mgt. They’ve informed me things are shaping up nicely. They will be sharing the update with Eddie and you’ll be hearing from me soon 👊🏾

Fury: “I just got off the phone with [my trainer] Sugarhill Steward in America.
“We are going to smash AJ – one round, two rounds, three rounds. Done! Can’t wait.”

Hearn: “Both guys are training at the moment, you know, with the understanding that this will be the next fight for them.
“So, whilst we can’t say the fight is signed, we can say that we’re closing in and it looks like both fighters are happy with the terms.”
Arum: “There’s no [Wilder] mediation. I mean, there has been over Christmas, and New Year, there was mediation
“I don’t know, maybe the mediator will be able to solve the situation, but we got a real problem because Tyson Fury has said to me and the mediator, ‘Not today, not tomorrow, and not ever’ will he ever fight Wilder after what Wilder said to him.”

Warren: “But the fight, we are hoping to get it on and, if we are being realistic, it will be some time in May or June.
“I hope that in the next few weeks it is over the line. We are supposed to be getting some sort of draft agreement this week and it will be a two-fight deal.” More

Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury PPV WON’T cost £40 claimed Eddie Hearn, but fans can expect increase on £25 price tag

THE pay-per-view price of Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury’s fight WILL NOT cost £40 but fans can expect an increase on the usual £25, according to Eddie Hearn.
Joshua and Fury have signed a deal which will see them face off for the first time ever, with all four heavyweight belts on the line.

Anthony Joshua is in talks over a two-fight deal with Tyson FuryCredit: Reuters

The historic undisputed title decider is set to take place in the summer, the first of a two-fight £200million deal.
The magnitude of the event will boost the box office takings but fans have feared a £40 price to watch the bout.
But Hearn ruled out a £15 jump in price when discussing the prospect earlier this year..

He told iFL TV in February: “I haven’t had any discussions about the PPV price, I certainly don’t think it’ll be £40.
“So, nothing’s been discussed, nothing’s been set. I just started getting some tweets and some DMs going, ‘You’re a disgrace! £40 PPV’.
“I was like, ‘Where’s that come from?’ No discussions.
“If there is an increase in the PPV price – not £40, but I think there will be – then we need to provide a show that’s worthy of that.”

On Monday, news of both fighters signing their contract set fans’ pulses racing.
CHELTENHAM SPECIAL OFFER – GET THE FIRST RACE FAVOURITE AT HUGE 50/1 PRICE

June is the targeted date for the showdown but a venue is yet to be agreed.
Amid coronavirus restrictions in the UK, the Battle of Britain looks destined for an away fixture, with the Middle East and Asia both mooted options.
But one of the biggest hurdles to overcome will be the broadcasting schedule, with FOUR channels involved across Britain and the US.
AJ, 31, has an exclusive deal with Sky and DAZN while Fury, 32, fights on BT and ESPN.
HBO and Showtime partnered up in 2002 to allow Mike Tyson and Lennox Lewis to meet.
But it was 13 years till there was another duel broadcast, when the same two American networks worked together for Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio to finally fight.
More recently, ESPN and FOX cross-promoted as Fury dethroned Deontay Wilder, 35, of the WBC crown in February 2020.
And it has set a precedent to follow with rival promotions proving they can work together, opposed to keeping their talent in-house.

Tyson Fury, trainer ‘Sugarhill’ Steward, Bob Arum and Frank WarrenCredit: Reuters

But, DAZN is traditionally streaming service with a monthly payment, unlike the one-off PPV price.
It would make sharing rights more difficult, however, the subscription-based platform did launch a box office option for Canelo Alvarez’s last fight.
DAZN linked up with cable TV charging a PPV price of $69.99 for Canelo’s win over Callum Smith, which also included a four months subscription.
If the same can be done for Joshua and Fury alongside ESPN in the US, it overcomes another obstacle.

Eddie Hearn names EIGHT possible Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury locations are confirming £200m two-fight deal is signed

THE biggest fight in British boxing history between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury has been signed – with just the venue to be confirmed.
Eddie Hearn announced today that the contracts had been penned by both camps for two bumper unification clashes – with EIGHT potential locations mentioned to stage it.

Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua are set to finally meet in the ringCredit: AFP or licensors

Fury, 32, recently vented his frustration at the contracts not being signed – admitting he has stopped eating and training – while drinking up to 12 pints of beer per day – putting his blockbuster bout with AJ in serious jeopardy.
But now the fight has finally been CONFIRMED with Joshua, 31, and Fury going toe-to-toe twice later this year in a deal worth a staggering £200million.
Hearn – Joshua’s promoter – confirmed the good news saying the ‘hard part’ is now over and done with.
But Hearn now says it is just the venue that needs to be decided – and they are not short of offers.

AJ’s Matchroom chief said: “We’ve already had approaches from eight or nine sites.
“The offers have come from multiple countries in the Middle East, from Asia, eastern Europe and America.
“This is the biggest fight in boxing and one of the biggest sporting events in the world. It will be a major, major win for a country that wants to showcase itself.”
The promoter does not believe the UK is a viable option despite Boris Johnson’s roadmap out of lockdown planning to remove restrictions as early as June 21.

CHELTENHAM SPECIAL OFFER – GET THE FIRST RACE FAVOURITE AT HUGE 50/1 PRICE

Speaking to iFL TV, he recently said: “When you talk about the venue that is starting to move because we’re in a position time-wise where we’ve had to move.
“So, your next question is ‘where is it going to be?’ Well the answer to your question is it’s still wide open, but we are much further down the line than we were a week ago because we’ve had to speed that process up.
“Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, Singapore, China, London, Las Vegas.
“Can you really sit there with confidence and say we’re going to be allowed 100,000 people in June in Wembley? You’ve answered the question.

“I don’t like to give people false hopes. I saw Bob’s interview. ‘Yeah, Wembley is an option, Vegas is an option’ – I don’t believe that. I don’t believe it is.
“Do you honestly think Bob Arum gives a monkeys about the UK fans? I mean come on. You’ve seen the comments about his fighters lately.
“Ultimately, they’re going to say to us ‘where can we generate the most money to hold this fight?’ Let’s not beat around the bush. And ultimately it’s going to be up to AJ and Tyson Fury to say ‘yep, we’re happy with that venue’.
“If you asked everybody myself, Frank Warren,Tyson Fury, Anthony Joshua where they would like to do this fight, it’s Wembley, of course it is.
“But one, I don’t think that’s possible and two, we can’t ignore the fact this is the biggest fight in boxing, it’s going to generate so much interest, so much money, we can’t just ignore that fact.”
Here is all you need to know about the potential locations speculated on by Hearn:

    Saudi Arabia
Joshua fought Andy Ruiz Jr in Diriyah at the end of 2019, but the venue – the Diriyah Arena – was purpose-built and taken down immediately after the Brit reclaimed his belts.
However, Fury has also entertained in Saudi Arabia when he fought Braun Strowman in WWE’s Crown Jewel event 18 months ago.
The Gypsy King wowed the 70,000-strong crowd at the King Fahd International Stadium, a potential venue for the Fury-Joshua clash.
Last month, restrictions in Saudi were extended for another 20 days.
It means that events, parties, weddings and corporate meetings should not exceed 20 people.
And there is no certainty as to whether restrictions will be lifted come the summer.
    Qatar
The Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar could well stage the Fury-Joshua super-fight.
With a capacity of 48,000 people, Hearn and co may well feel it is suitable for the heavyweight clash.
Coronavirus restrictions in Qatar currently include public transport, cinemas and gyms working at 30 per cent capacity, while offices are at 80 per cent capacity.
    Abu Dhabi
When it comes to Fury-Joshua taking place in the UAE, The Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium may emerge as the location.
It is currently home to Emirati football club Al Jazira Club and the UAE national team.
The venue can hold 42,000 people and has played host to football and cricket matches since opening in 1980.
Coronavirus restrictions mean those travelling to the UAE will have to return a negative Covid test less than 96 hours before departure.
    Singapore
The Singapore National Stadium holds 55,000 people and could well be in the running to stage Joshua-Fury.
Most shops and restaurants are open in Singapore, but social distancing is still taking place.
This means under current measures a mass event such as Fury-Joshua would not be able to take place.
    China
Fury’s promoter Bob Arum has discussed the idea of staging a fight in China in the past.
Arum has previously named gambling hotspot Macau as a possible location for a big heavyweight dust-up.
The likely venue in Macau would be the Centro Desportivo Olimpico, which holds more than 16,000 people.
In terms of coronavirus restrictions, there is testing for people attending social gatherings of more than 400 people and those flying in from abroad will be required to quarantine if they are not already on the banned list.
    London
If the fight takes place in the UK, then it will happen at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua has headlined the famous venue on two occasions, against Wladimir Klitschko and Alexander Povetkin, while Fury is yet to fight there.
The major stumbling block of the fight taking place in Britain remains the coronavirus restrictions.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson hopes to remove all restrictions by June 21, but that date could be pushed back if the government’s criteria is not met.
    Las Vegas
Fury’s last three fights have all taken place in Las Vegas, including his sensational win over Deontay Wilder in February of last year.
The likely venue in Vegas would be the MGM Grand, a famous boxing arena that has staged some of the most iconic clashes ever.
Vegas authorities are hoping to re-open entertainment establishments as early as May 1, so coronavirus restrictions may not be a problem.
The number of daily new cases in Nevada currently stands at less than 400, the lowest since September.
    Eastern Europe
Hearn has now also thrown Eastern Europe out there as one of the potential locations.
It remains to be confirmed exactly whereabouts he means, but Russia would be the most-likely option.

Fans convinced Tyson Fury is ‘playing mind games’ with Anthony Joshua after posting picture of himself drinking whiskey

FANS are convinced that Tyson Fury is ‘playing mind games’ with Anthony Joshua after posting pictures of himself drinking whiskey.
The WBC Gypsy King claimed last week that he had swapped training for boozing and had given up the idea of an undisputed decider with AJ this summer.

Fans think Tyson Fury is playing mind games with Anthony Joshua

Fury, who hasn’t fought since knocking-out Deontay Wilder in February 2020, posed with a bottle of Glenfiddich on Sunday.
The post comes after the 31-year-old claimed that he is drinking up to 12 pints of lager a day and could still give Joshua ‘a good hiding’.
And one fan tweeted: “This is great mind games from the champ…this and the “I’m drinking 12 pints a day”…trying to pull them in.”

Yet others were concerned by Fury’s choice of the words ‘Sunday Blues’ in his caption.

The heavyweight boxer has struggled with his mental health throughout his life but has been applauded for helping others beat their demons.
Meanwhile, in an interview earlier this week, Fury shared his frustrations that his mega-fight with Joshua has still not been signed.

But Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has laughed off his fellow Brit’s claims as he declared the bout is close to being finalised.
Hearn said: “Although they are going to put pen to paper, the interview was a bit disappointing because I want to hear him say ‘The only fight I’m interested in is Anthony Joshua’.
“I don’t know whether he was in a bad mood or pulling everyone’s plonker. What I do know is everyone has put a lot of work into this deal and he is on board.”
