Inside Tyson Fury training camp from ‘drinking 12 pints a day’ to stunning body transformation for Anthony Joshua fight

TYSON FURY’S sensational shape proves he toys with reporters as easily as he does opponents. When the WBC Gypsy King growled through his new Stone Cold Steve Austin goatee that he had downed tools over the delay in confirming a date and location for the undisputed Anthony Joshua fight, his chiselled cheekbones gave him away.

This week, when his official merchandise site posted a photo of the undefeated 6ft 9in ace looking ripped, it was clear for all to see that Fury is fighting fit.
The Morecambe hero is definitely frustrated that he has not boxed – nor been paid – since his iconic February 2020 win over Deontay Wilder, he has even threatened to take on a different opponent than Watford’s WBA, IBF and WBO boss.
But his itchy knuckles have definitely not been hitting the bottle in anger and instead his gym-rat mentality has him ready to rumble at all times.
Featherweight and fellow Traveller Isaac Lowe is almost half Fury’s size but he is a constant companion in and outside the gym.
The Westgate Warrior won a six-rounder on March 12, that Fury attended, and you can bet the 31-0-1 giant did the full camp alongside his little pal.
Fury’s younger brother Hughie – not to be confused with the cousin and fellow heavyweight pro of the same name – has also gone through a dramatic four-stone weight-loss transformation that Tyson will have played a huge part in.
And Ty Mitchell is a light-heavyweight competing on the unlicenced circuit who always seems to be in the Fury gym, working on new skills and making Fury smile, even on the giant heavy bag they have nicknamed ‘Big Bertha’.
Fury likes long runs around Morecambe Bay, during the first lockdown he reached thousands of people every day with live workouts streamed on Instagram.

And his favourite chef George Lockhart even flew over to help smuggle much-hated vegetables into some of his meals.
Fury’s Detroit-based trainer Sugar Hill Steward came over in the autumn of 2020 but, when Fury’s December 5 fight was cancelled when his purse and opponent could not be agreed, he went back to America.
But Fury is working regularly with Irish cousin and assistant Andy Lee and now has a training partner in former world champ Joseph Parker, who fights Derek Chisora in London on May 1.
Fury will play a major part in the New Zealander’s camp as a sparring partner and friend so he will be kept busy for the whole of April again while promoters on Team AJ and Fury try to get the first leg of the two-fight rivalry arranged.
And Tyson – when he is not pretending to be drinking, dipping his hands in petrol or masturbating seven times – has revealed how he stays in shape and why he plays with the public’s perception of his fitness.
He said: “I have not really stopped training since December 2017, even after the world title fights with Wilder I am in the gym the next day or running 10m, I am always in the gym sparring or messing around.
“If I can have three years out of the ring, come back and school Wilder, then do I really need sparring and warm-up fights?

“The thing with me is, people never know when I am telling the truth or not.
“When I tell the truth, some people don’t believe and if I tell a lie sometimes everyone believes it.
“The proof is in the pudding and everything I have ever said in the past I have backed up.”
The facts are Fury has a family full of big men who like to run and spar and train, he has friends and sparring partners anywhere between nine and 17st.
Little brother Tommy is breaking into the game and even their dad Big John is looking for the Mike Tyson fight when he is not helping to train his sons.
Fighting and training is in Fury’s blood, sweat and tears.
As long as he is in the right mind to train, he will be ready to fight at the drop of a hat and fans have little reason to worry.
But seeing him so trim this far out from a targeted July clash with AJ does raise concerns that he could be ready to burn all the carefully laid plans and fight someone else entirely.

Fury shared a photo of his trimmer physique to his recent Instagram story, in which he was modelling some of his Gypsy King clothing line.
And he looked a far cry from a man who claims to be necking 12 pints a day.
Earlier this month, the 32-year-old said: “I have stopped training at the moment, I am on holiday.
“I am drinking anything between eight, ten, 12 pints of lager a day, at the minute.
“But I am not eating so I am getting my calories through alcohol.
“I have trained and trained and trained with no progress so I am now a man of leisure.”

“He won’t be beaten. AJ might have to visit primary school again.”
Fury’s long-awaited showdown with Joshua is expected to take place in June or July.
The pair agreed terms on a two-fight deal last year but put pen to paper on their £500million contract earlier this month.
A venue and date for the Battle of Britain, however, have yet to be finalised.
And Fury’s dad, John, recently cast doubt over the biggest fight in the history of British boxing taking place this summer.

He told BT Sport: “We need to get him out, whether these cowboys get the job sorted which I don’t think they’re going to do.
“What have they signed? They’ve signed nothing in my eyes. They’ve got no date, no venue, no nothing.
“What does it mean if you can’t get a date and a venue?
“What does it mean if no one is willing to put the money up?

“It’s all about someone coming forward and saying, ‘Right, I’ll pay for the fight, I’ll stage the fight.’ Where are these people?
“That’s the position it’s in and I don’t think they can get it together.
“It’s too big for what’s happening and the climate the world is in at the moment.
“I just don’t think the timing is right for a fight of that magnitude with the state of the world.”

Dillian Whyte called out by Tyson Fury rival Otto Wallin who wants Brit in huge world title eliminator

DILLIAN WHYTE could face Otto Wallin in a title eliminator as he looks to earn a shot against Anthony Joshua or Tyson Fury. After confidently downing Alexander Povetkin in a rematch with the Russian last week, the 32-year-old is desperate for a huge match-up.

But with Joshua and Fury nearing a unification showdown in the summer – as well as a rematch – Whyte may have to occupy his time.
And Dmitriy Salita, Wallin’s promoter, has opened the door to a fight between the Brit and the Swede.
He told Sky Sports: “That could be an interesting encounter.
“Otto is staying active and moving towards a world heavyweight title.
“If Dillian Whyte is in the way we will definitely explore that possibility.”
Wallin, 30, was unbeaten but little-known before taking Fury 12 tough rounds in a points defeat 18 months ago.
In inflicting a nasty cut above the eye of the Gypsy King, he almost stole a major upset victory.
And he has won his two fights since, most recently downing two-time title contender Dominic Breazeale.

Whyte’s promoter Eddie Hearn has previously stated his intent at getting the Body Snatcher back into the ring this summer, potentially in the United States where Wallin operates out of.
The heavyweight is eyeing an overdue mandatory challenge of a world belt with Deontay Wilder another opponent on his mind.
He said after beating Povetkin: “I should, by law, be able to have the fight in the next three to six months. Let’s see.
“I’d love to fight Trevor Bryan for the WBA world title, that’s the same title David Haye and lots of other champions held so I’d love to fight him for that. It would be a great opportunity.

“We don’t know if Deontay Wilder is even going to fight again, or if he has any interest in fighting again.
“There’s no sign of him even training at the moment, he may never fight again.
“I would love to smash his face in but if he’s not going to fight, what can I do?”

The WBC have ordered the Californian to face Javier Fortuna in his next outing, scuppering hopes of him throwing down with Devin Haney.
Matchroom Boxing chief Eddie Hearn was eager to make the fight but has been left perplexed by Garcia’s reluctance to face The Dream.
He said: “I think [the WBC] may order Garcia-[Javier] Fortuna because Garcia is supposed to fight Devin Haney.
“So, it’s so f—ing bizarre. There’s loads of money for that fight [Haney-Garcia]. DAZN would f—ing love it.

Dillian Whyte ranked No1 contender to face Fury v AJ winner in huge snub to Usyk and Wilder, exclusive poll reveals

SUNSPORT readers have had their say and are backing Dillian Whyte to emerge from the shadows of Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury. As the two British superstars go head-to-head in a £200million two-fight deal this summer, attentions have turned to who could challenge the pair for the heavyweight belts.

The winner of Fury vs AJ will be crowned undisputed heavyweight champion of the world.
But the division is awash with talent and Whyte gave a reminder of his ruthless ability on Saturday night after KO’ing Alexander Povetkin.
After SunSport ranked American big-hitter Deontay Wilder as the No1 heavyweight contender, readers wanted to put the record straight.
In a poll of over 1,200 voters, 51.28 per cent of readers had The Body Snatcher top of the bill ahead of Oleksandr Usyk.
Whyte has also beaten Joseph Parker, Oscar Rivas and Derek Chisora in his career and fans undoubtedly agree he has earned his title shot.
Ukrainian Usyk is the current WBO interim champion following his win over Derek Chisora in October.
He has been lined up for a vacant title fight with Joe Joyce but Usyk is eager to hold off any deal as they await to see the outcome of Fury vs AJ.
The Bronze Bomber sits third with 15 per cent of the votes.

His reputation took a bruising after surrendering his WBC crown to Tyson Fury in February 2020.

Andy Ruiz Jr, who stunned the boxing world by beating Joshua in June 2019, had seven per cent of the votes just ahead of Joe Joyce.

Ruiz Jr weighed in over a stone heavier for his second fight against AJ as he ballooned to over 20 stone.
That was to be his last bout with Manny Robles in his corner, as he linked up with Saul Alvarez’s trainer Eddy Reynoso last year.
And he is looking in great shape, with the Mexican-American already shedding over three stone for his comeback dust-up against Arreola.
Speaking during a virtual press conference, the Destroyer revealed he is taking competing more seriously now as he looks to become a two-time world champion.
He told Fight Hub TV: “Losing from my last fight against Anthony Joshua, it was devastating, because I did not do the things that I was supposed to do.
“I look back right now and I’m like ‘Damn, if I would’ve stayed dedicated, if I would’ve stayed disciplined and do the right things that I was supposed to do…’
“And that was the most important fight of my life… but now it’s totally different. Now I got my mind right, I got a great trainer, so we’re just ready for May 1.”
Before adding: “I’ve always been overweight and now that I’ve been dropping weight normally and in the right way by eating right, not just wearing the sauna suit, starving yourself.

Deontay Wilder to learn Tyson Fury trilogy fate in May and could ‘claim for damages’ says legendary promoter Bob Arum

DEONTAY WILDER will find out in May whether he is entitled to a third fight with Tyson Fury, according to promoter Bob Arum. After being beaten by the Gypsy King in February of last year, the American’s contractual right to a trilogy clash appeared to go up in smoke when Fury’s team claimed the clause for a rematch had expired.

Wilder has now gone to court in a bid to get Fury back in the ring, but the Brit’s promoter Arum insists it will NOT put an all-British dust-up with Anthony Joshua under threat.
Speaking to Barbershop Conversations, he said: “That is in arbitration, and the arbitrator will decide.”
When asked whether it will put a Joshua-Fury bout on hold, he added: “No, really and truly, nobody anticipates that there’ll be an injunction. At worst, there might be a claim for damages.
“I think it was scheduled that we’d finally get a determination sometime in May. I can’t go into that.”
Wilder has made numerous outlandish excuses since being beaten by Fury more than a year ago.
A comeback fight for The Bronze Bomber does not appear to be on the horizon as he continues to remain relatively quiet.
But promoter Eddie Hearn called on Wilder to fight Dillian Whyte after his win at the weekend.
The Body Snatcher stopped Alexander Povetkin inside four rounds with a statement display in Gibraltar.

“We called for the Deontay Wilder fight for a long, long time. [Wilder] actually DM’d Dillian Whyte and said I will never, ever give you that fight.
“And now he got knocked out and he’s calling for the fight with Dillian Whyte.
