Tyson Fury insists he’s ‘last person to blame’ for coronavirus outbreak as he slams Deontay Wilder’s ‘large entourage’

HEAVYWEIGHT Tyson Fury has hit back at his critics, insisting he was the ‘last person to blame’ for the coronavirus outbreak in his camp. The Gypsy King has been slammed for the postponement of his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder, which will now take place on October 9.

The bout was delayed when Fury, 32, allegedly contracted Covid-19, severely hampering his training in the days leading up to the fight.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Fury said: “I couldn’t have been more ready for next Saturday.
“After that I’d have been just as ready to knock out Anthony Joshua in December.
“I’m the last person to blame [for the postponement].
“I don’t have a large entourage, unlike most world champions with all their a**-licking hangers on.
“Since coming back into full time camp I hadn’t been anywhere other than my new house here and the Top Rank gym. Nor had my team.
“The only people whose movements I couldn’t completely control were my sparring partners, who change.
“They came in and out of the bubble and everyone knows this town is full of Covid. I suspect we caught it from one of them.”
Fury has been criticised for the postponement by the Bronze Bomber, British rival Dillian Whyte and Wilder’s fiancee Telli Swift, among others.

The Gypsy King has also played down Wilder’s chances, claiming: “Mentally he’s a broken man.
“I destroyed him last time in seven rounds and I will ruin him quicker next time. Inside five.
“He knows that if we fought ten times I would win ten times.”

He was asked by GQ what clothes make him feel powerful and said: “Pink has a lot to do with it.
“If I’m wearing pink, I’m not going to have an expression like you want to talk to me.
“When I have on pink, I’m very serious. Pink makes me very masculine.
“I almost want to fight in those clothes. Those clothes make me want to fight a little.”
And when asked if he shops a lot, the multi-millionaire laughed and replied: “When I have the time to do it.

Eddie Hearn says Boxing fans will be able to attend Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk without vaccine passports More

Boxing fans will be able to attend Anthony Joshua vs Oleksandr Usyk WITHOUT vaccine passports, says Eddie Hearn

BOXING fans will not need a vaccine passport to attend Anthony Joshua’s clash with Oleksandr Usyk, according to Eddie Hearn.AJ will defend his unified heavyweight titles against the undefeated Ukrainian on September 25 in front of a capacity crowd at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

But promoter Eddie Hearn is confident fans won’t have toCredit: Getty
It was thought those attending would have to show proof of double vaccination, which the Government are contemplating making mandatory for those looking to go to large events.
But Matchroom Boxing chief Hearn told iFL TV: “We wait for rules and regulations.
“I don’t believe that will be the case.
“But I know that, obviously from the freedom day yesterday, we now have approval for September 4th for 20,000 at Headingley (for Warrinton vs Lara) and full capacity at Tottenham Hotspur on September 25.
“So we should crack on, we should fill up the stadiums and we should start bringing big-time boxing events back to the UK because it’s much-needed after what was a tremendous Euros.
“And yeah, obviously they stole my song, which is fine. One that I wrote and produced in Sweet Caroline.
“And I’m looking forward to seeing that back at the boxing as well.”
Hearn, like many others, isn’t a fan of the potential implementation of vaccine passports.
He said: “I personally wouldn’t like to see that in place and I don’t know if it’s actually lawfully possible to be introduced. Who knows?
I don’t believe that will be the caseEddie Hearn on fans needing vaccine passports to attend Joshua vs Usyk
“But certainly, we’ve had, at the moment, no notification [that’ll be the case].
“Already in September, we’ve got 20,000 at Headlingly for Warrington against Lara and Katie Taylor.
“And now over 60,000 at Tottenham Hotspur for AJ-Usyk. And we’ve had no guidance that vaccine passports have got to be available or shown.
“Whether there’s a negative test that has to be shown, similar to what you saw at the Euros or whatever.
“But I thought the whole idea of ‘Freedom Day’ was that things are returning back to normal.
“We had full approval, full capacity, for that event and, of course, the Headingly event as well.”
Joshua, 32, is relishing his clash with the former undisputed cruiserweight king, saying: “The date is set and we are fully locked in.
“September 25, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, I put it all on the line again and it’s time to defend my crown.

The pair, 27 and 30 respectively, locked horns with one another two-and-a-half years ago at UFC Fight Night 143 in Brooklyn.
PVZ got the better of the Ostovich that night at the Barclays Center, submitting her with a second-round armbar.
A lot has changed for both women since their first clash, and SunSport is on hand to give you the lowdown ahead of their second bout.
    UFC PAST
Both VanZant and Ostovich were given their marching orders by the UFC in 2020.
MMA’s leading promotion opted against offering VanZant a new contract following her submission loss to Amanda Ribas last July.
Ostovich, meanwhile, was given the boot after her third-round TKO loss to Gina Mazany last November.
VanZant left the UFC with a record of eight victories and five defeats to her name, while Ostovich’s stood at 4-6 after her December release.

    MONEYMAKERS
VanZant has made a pretty penny following the expiration of her contract with the UFC.
Not only did she sign a lucrative multi-fight deal with BKFC – who she claims pay her ten times more than what she earned in the octagon – she set up her own exclusive fan website.
And she recently claimed she’s made more money selling racy snaps and images on her site – which he launched in February – than she did in any of her previous fights.
She said: “I will say when I signed with BKFC, the bare-knuckle boxing, I was making more money than I had made in my entire UFC career.
“Now I’m making more money than my entire BKFC contract in like a month. It’s pretty crazy.”
Ostovich has also capitalised on the lucrative gig, launching her own member’s website in March.

    RACY SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS
As well as keeping fans updated with their training on social media, VanZant and Ostovich regularly use their social media accounts to post racy photos.
Whether it be bikini pictures or photos from modelling shoots, the pair aren’t shy in sharing titillating snaps with their legion of followers.
VanZant currently boasts a whopping 2.9million followers on Instagram, while Ostovich currently has just under 750,000.

    BARE-KNUCKLE MOVE
BKFC moved quickly to snap up VanZant after it emerged the UFC would not renew her contract.
The promotion handed the American Top Team standout a lucrative multi-fight deal, which kicked off with her February showdown with Britain Hart.
VanZant came up short in her maiden BKFC outing, suffering a unanimous decision loss to veteran Hart.
Ostovich, meanwhile, was signed by BKFC in April, although she’s not yet competed for the promotion.
    WHAT THEY’VE SAID
VanZant is expecting her second clash with Ostovich to not in any way resemble their first fight, saying: “Going into this, it’s not a rematch because it’s a completely different style of fighting.
“It’s bare-knuckle boxing, it’s not MMA… I’m not scared of how hard she hits because I’ve been hit by her before.”
Ostoovich said of her second encounter with PVZ: “I did feel like I was the better striker in our last fight.

VanZant and Ostovich, 27 and 30 respectively, faced off with one another at the final pre-fight press conference in the early hours of Thursday morning.
The former opponents were cordial to begin with but quickly proceeded to give each other icy-cool stares.
BKFC 19’s main event will be a rematch of VanZant and Ostovich’s clash at UFC Fight Night 143 in January 2019.
PVZ got the better of Ostovich that night, submitting the Hawaain with a second-round armbar.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, Ostovich said of their first clash: “I did feel like I was the better striker in our last fight.
“I went into that fight, I had a broken orbital going into that fight so I wasn’t trying to stand with her, so I kept taking her down.
“There was a lot of grappling there.
“When I looked back at my fight with her, I wish I could have stood up more. I am excited for this boxing match because it is just stand up.”
I never thought I would be part of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship promotionRachael Ostovich
Ostovich, who was released from the UFC last December, inked a lucrative deal with BKFC in April but has yet to compete for the promotion.
The idea of bare-knuckle boxing didn’t initially appeal to the Ultimate Fighter season 26 star, who admitted: “Honestly, I wasn’t really interested in it,
“I was like, not for me. But I’m down. I’m actually excited to learn anything new.
“We’re not wearing gloves, that is pretty crazy, but how much worse could it be? We’re fighting with four-ounce gloves already [in MMA].
“I feel like as fighters, I don’t really focus on it. More just technique and training hard for this fight and coming out on top.”
Ostovich never envisaged competing under the BKFC banner, saying: “It kind of just happened.
“I never thought I would be part of the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship promotion.

She added: “I’m here for the journey and this is part of my journey.

Joe Joyce revelling in role as British boxing’s lockdown star as Juggernaut sets sights on title shot vs Anthony Joshua

JOE JOYCE has staked his claim for British boxing’s lockdown break-out star.Last summer Joyce was a 10-0 prospect, frustrated by a year out of the ring and well outside of the heavyweight world title plans.

But the Putney Juggernaut then dispatched Michael Wallisch and Daniel Dubois — in high-risk, low-reward fights behind closed doors — and will be mandatory challenger for Anthony Joshua’s WBO crown if he beats Carlos Takam on Saturday.
In contrast, AJ fended off Kubrat Pulev in December, had his heartbroken by the undisputed decider with Tyson Fury collapsing, and has to wait until September to fight again.
And the Gypsy King’s terrible luck or judgment means he will have spent 20 months out of the ring IF he finally fights Deontay Wilder in October.

Fans may be moaning but 35-year-old Joyce is not. He said: “I have been as active as possible in the lockdown and turned nothing down.
“A lot of fighters chose not to fight without fans — it is a very different challenge — but I saw it as a chance to capitalise and am about to headline my third consecutive show inside a brilliant year.”
He added: “When AJ was fighting Fury, I was getting the Oleksandr Usyk fight for perhaps the interim WBO title.
“When that big English fight collapsed, it had a domino effect on me because now AJ has Usyk.
“But instead of moaning or moping, I jumped on Carlos Takam and that will get me my title shot.
I felt the Dubois win really gave me a big push, in terms of support, so I want to repay that by making these big fights happen, especially my eventual world title shotJoe Joyce
“I hope I have kept the fans entertained, because they do seem to be a bit disappointed with the way things have gone.
“I felt the Dubois win really gave me a big push, in terms of support, so I want to repay that by making these big fights happen, especially my eventual world title shot.”
Joyce’s promoter, Frank Warren, is an Arsenal super-fan and wants a mega-fight between Joyce and old Team GB sparring partner AJ at the Emirates one day.
The 2016 Olympic silver winner and childhood Gunners fan visited the stadium on Tuesday, posed with mascot Gunnersaurus, and confirmed it’s a dream destination.

Joyce said: “I loved Ian Wright and David Seaman growing up, the glory days, and loved watching Thierry Henry.
“Fighting at the beautiful, brand new stadium there would be amazing, especially for a world title.
“Having the pinnacle happening at the home of my favourite football team would be very special.”

Tyson Fury racing back for birth of sixth child after leaving coronavirus isolation with Deontay Wilder fight postponed

TYSON FURY hopes to dash back to Britain for the birth of his sixth child – after coming out of isolation following his Covid diagnosis. The World heavyweight champ tested positive after the virus ripped through his US training camp where he was preparing for a rematch with American Deontay Wilder, 35.

It has led to the postponement of his fight with Wilder, which was scheduled for July 24 and will now take place on October 9.
Gyspy King Fury, 32 – who was set to miss the birth had the fight gone ahead on the original date – now hopes to be present.
The 6ft9ins star, whose positive test was confirmed a week and a half ago, has come out of his isolation period and was this week spotted in a Las Vegas casino.

A source said: “Tyson is now out of isolation in the States after a negative test and now hopes to make it home.
“He has plenty of time to get there, isolate, see his family and return to a camp in the States before the rescheduled bout.
“Tyson hopes to fly home, isolate for five days and produce another negative which would clear him.
“He has never shown any symptoms and is fine.
“Paris is due at the end of this month or early August, so he is desperately hoping that she holds on and he can now be there.
“He was due to miss the birth to focus on training for the originally-planned fight.

“But it means some good could come out of the Covid chaos, if he is able to clear all the necessary hurdles and be home for the birth.
“But he and his team are not taking any risks and following all the protocols.
“In the meantime he is speaking to Paris on the phone everyday and face-timing her and the kids.”
Undefeated Fury had made the difficult decision to base himself in America so he could focus “100 per cent” on the Wilder fight which was due to take place on July 24.
He spoke earlier this month about his biggest concern being getting an injury or getting Covid ahead of their trilogy bout.

A member of Fury’s training team is believed to have brought the Delta variant into his camp and 10 members of the team have caught the virus.
Fury, who has only had one of his two vaccine-jabs so far, tested positive.
A fight with Anthony Joshua – in training for his bout with Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk, 34, in September – is now unlikely before 2022.
