“I feel like I won the fight. I feel like Jake’s a great opponent. That’s why I came in great shape.

Tyson Fury ‘trying to get’ undisputed fight with Anthony Joshua booked for December as he sees ‘no threat’ from Wilder

TYSON FURY is pushing for his long-awaited undisputed heavyweight title fight with Anthony Joshua to take place in December. The WBC heavyweight champ was due to face AJ in Saudi Arabia last month but was ordered to have a trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder.

But Fury is eager to share the ring with his fellow Brit before the end of the year, provided they get through their respective bouts with Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk.
The Gypsy King’s dad, John, told GiveMeSport: “He’s trying to get Joshua in December.
“We’re going for that fight this year.
“Because we see Wilder as no threat at all once he’s done the camp right.
“If he’s done everything right to the letter, Wilder ain’t a problem, he’s got his number, beat him twice, beat him like a ragdoll, beat him to a pulp last time.
“Wilder has got nothing to offer him at all, only that big punch.

“And believe me, what I’m seeing in the new trainer, we know a lot about him as well, so we’ve got no fear at all.”
Fury, 32, ran through Wilder in their rematch last February, stopping him in the seventh round of their Sin City showdown.
But his old man insists he’s not overlooking The Bronze Bomber, adding: “He’s concentrating on Wilder first.
“AJ won’t even play a part in his mind at the moment because he’s thinking about Wilder.
“But yeah, get him out the way, AJ here we come!”
Fan favourite Fury hasn’t set foot inside the ring since his spectacular dethroning of Wilder, who has hired a new head coach ahead of their third clash.
John doesn’t foresee the outcome being any different, so much so he’s planning for his son to have a short break after the fight before resuming preparations for AJ.
He’s trying to get Joshua in DecemberJohn Fury on son Tyson

The 57-year-old said: “He’s been inactive (Tyson), but so has Wilder, they’ve both done nothing for two years.
“But I see Tyson with a mindset he’s got today, knocking him out within four rounds.
“I mean, KO’ing him this time properly, getting the job done where there is no arguments at all, flat out on his back.
“And then when that’s happened out the way, few weeks rest, on to Joshua.”
Fury may have set his sights on a December dust-up with Joshua, but promoter Eddie Hearn doesn’t foresee the fight happening until ‘January or February’ 2022 at the earliest.
He told iFL TV: “I think that was pretty much the case anyway.
“But fighting September 25, it’s very difficult to do a fight in December.

“And a lot of our conversations now about the undisputed fight are end of Jan, February.
“So it probably helps. Fury might’ve wanted to do another fight in November or December.
“And then the whole thing is, like, never-ending.”

Sky Sports believe Anthony Joshua will snub Eddie Hearn and DAZN and stay with them out of loyalty

SKY SPORTS believe they will keep Anthony Joshua out of the clutches of new boxing broadcast rivals DAZN.The streaming service has already snapped up Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn and his stable, with stars like Josh Warrington, Conor Benn and Katie Taylor fighting on the app this weekend in Leeds.
Sky Sports are confident they will be able retain Anthony Joshua as their boxing ‘ambassador’Credit: PA
Eddie Hearn is keen to lure Joshua to his streaming venture DAZNCredit: PA:Press Association
Hearn hopes his long-running relationship with the WBA, IBF and WBO king will help him take AJ over to the market’s new £7.99 a-month force.
But Sky Sports’ head of boxing Adam Smith believes Joshua’s proven loyalty, especially to trainer Rob McCracken after he faced blame for the Andy Ruiz defeat in 2019, will prove to be the deciding factor in keeping him on Sky Box Office.
Launching Sky’s return to boxing with stars like Chris Eubank Jr, Josh Taylor and Caroline Dubois, Smith said: “Anthony was already a star after winning gold at London 2012 and we think we have made him a superstar on Sky.
“He has almost become an ambassador for us and is on pictures all over Sky’s offices all over the country.
“We look at how we build fighters, clever matchmaking and taking people around the country and then taking them to PPV at the right time.
“AJ is loved by the nation, he has the looks and the skill and now he has had the comeback.

“AJ is a massive part of our business so I would be naive to say I will happily watch him leave, we will be fighting hard to keep working with Anthony going forward.
“I think he is a very loyal guy who has stayed with Eddie and Rob McCracken and I think he will be loyal to Sky.”
AJ’s September 25 defence against Oleksandr Usyk at the new Spurs stadium will be Joshua’s last on his current contract with Sky.
AJ has been amazing for us and we are hopeful we can continue doing business in the futureAdam SmithSky Sports Head of Boxing
The bidding war can commence on the 26th but bullish Smith believes his company’s PPV platform can hold off DAZN’s advances.
He said: “We have AJ’s next fight vs Usyk and we have worked for a long time getting that to Spurs.
“We have been with AJ for a long time, helping him build up from London 2012 and we are excited about talks and movement in that direction.
“AJ has been amazing for us and we are hopeful we can continue doing business in the future.”
Hearn was a brilliant driving force for Sky boxing in front and behind the camera and eyebrows were raised when Britain’s youngest promoter Ben Shalom was named the Essex mogul’s successor.
But Smith has revealed that Shalom, who created the Ultimate Boxxer brand that recently morphed into BOXXER, is going to take a more low-profile approach to promoting.
“Eddie went and we wanted to stay in boxing,” Smith said.
“We had some great times but we needed to go again and change direction slightly.

“Ben is a very smart and cool guy, he’s different to Eddie, he does not want to be front and centre, the fighters are going to do and be that.
“Ben gave an extraordinary presentation and he has a very strong team behind him.
“It may have been a bit of a shock for the boxing world but he has really impressed me.”

Paul’s swift return came as no surprise as he talked up a number of potential fights after his narrow victory over Woodley.
Victory over Woodley, 39, saw YouTuber turned boxer Paul stretch his professional record to 4-0.
An incensed Woodley immediately called for a rematch, saying: “I feel like if that was the second biggest pay-per-view, then round two is gonna be bigger than that.

“Now the bet blew up in your face. Let’s do it. I’m willing and I will.
“If I’ve got to get my own tattoo artist, I think I’m sliding to L.A., let’s get it cracking.
“But I need to see some paperwork, because him and his manager are starting to get real [shady].
“He told me in there, he said, ‘Tyron, I give you my word.’

Anthony Joshua’s coach reveals secret to body transformation as champ ditches weight lifting for Oleksandr Usyk fight

ANTHONY JOSHUA’S slimline figure for the upcoming Oleksandr Usyk fight is thanks to him ditching the dumbbells.Watford’s WBA, IBF and WBO champ felt too heavy and muscle-bound for the iconic Wembley KO of Wladimir Klitschko (17st.12lbs) and follow-up win over Carlos Takam (18st 2lbs), both in 2018.
Anthony Joshua has slimmed down in preparation for Oleksandr Usyk
Joshua has transformed his body since the fight against Vladimir Klitschko in 2018
And he has since controlled and adapted his weight to cater for differing opponents like Joseph Parker, Alexander Povetkin and the Andy Ruiz double.
Ahead of the September 25 defence against the former undisputed cruiserweight champ, AJ has confirmed he is extra trim for the ex-14st 4lbs boss and Team AJ physio Rob Madden has revealed the secret to his transformation.
Pulseroll ambassador Madden told SunSport: “The weight is always a team decision and effort but I think it has been more of a training adjustment than anything else.
“There is a lot less weight lifting and strength work, he actually gets a lot of his bulk just from boxing itself.
“If you look at his biceps and shoulders, a lot of that comes from the heavy bag and the amount of boxing he does.
“The weight always depends on the opponent, he felt really fresh and fit at the Ruiz 2 (16st 13lbs) and Pulev (17st 2lbs) weights, without sacrificing his power as a natural asset.

“Going into the Usyk fight, you can see now that he is leaner than how heavy he was from Klitschko because he learned how heavy that feels and he personally prefers to hover a bit lower than that.”
Ukraine’s 34-year-old southpaw superstar has struggled to bulk up while maintaining his speed and reflexes and missed his 16st target last time out in October against Derek Chisora by 7lbs.
So it looks like AJ will be four inches taller, enjoying a 4in reach advantage and at least a stone heavier when they lock horns at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
Madden said: “Usyk is a fantastic boxer and the team has nothing but respect for him, he will get all of our focus and discipline, he was a phenomenal cruiserweight.
“But AJ is going to have a lot of advantages on him, especially things like power and strength in any clinches.
“AJ is already in a league of his own for that and against somebody lighter he will be even more dominant.”
AJ has shared photos of his training regime on Instagram
The world champ prefers a lighter build but will still retain a height, reach and weight advantage over Usyk
Madden, a long-time member of the close-knit AJ team, confirms everyone in the Sheffield-based camp was convinced the undisputed Tyson Fury clash was going to happen this summer.
And there was a lingering hangover that hit the whole group when the WBC champ was ordered into a third fight with Deontay Wilder instead, that the vastly different Usyk challenge has helped lift.
“I won’t go into it all but it was a disappointment and a headache for everyone because we were talking about it happening just before the legal case was settled,” Madden confirmed.
“There was a real shock that Wilder vs Fury was ordered to happen because we genuinely thought the fight was going to happen.
“It was a weird little patch because he had that focus and then it went. With Usyk we know he is great and needs to be respected and prepared for so that focus is back and it’s total heads down and all eyes are on him.”

Boxer, 18, in a critical condition after being knocked out cold and carried away on stretcher in ‘very rare’ incident

A BOXER is in critical but stable condition after she was knocked out by her opponent during an event in Montreal on Saturday evening.Jeanette Zacarias Zapata, 18, was stopped by Marie-Pier Houle before collapsing to the floor moments later and being hospitalised.
Zapata was hit several times towards the end of the fourth round
The teenager was standing when the referee called time on the fight
But Zapata collapsed seconds later and is now in a critical condition
Zapata was taking part in her sixth professional bout at the GYM Gala Boxing event in Canada.
The teenager was hit several times by Canadian boxer Houle towards the end of the fourth round and was hanging on to the ropes as the bell rang.
The referee immediately went over to Zapata to check on her condition and ended the fight seconds later – initially as a precautionary measure.
Although it was clear the Mexican star couldn’t continue, she was still on her feet at this stage as Houle started celebrating her TKO victory.
But just moments later, Zapata began having convulsions before her trainer Jovanni Martinez laid her down on the ring.
She was hospitalised and placed in a medically induced coma, with doctors describing her condition as critical but stable.

Event organiser Yvon Michel told Global News: “She didn’t regain consciousness.
“She was sedated in order to rest her body and her brain.
“The doctors didn’t give her much of a chance [to get out] initially, but they find her situation has improved a lot.
“The next two to five days will be critical and she will be kept sedated for that period.
I only realised the magnitude of the situation after seeing her. I wish it had happened to me instead of Jeanette; I am frustrated.Jovanni Martinez
“The next six weeks will then be critical in determining if there is damage and how much damage it has.”
Opponent Houle added: “This is not the thing you want to see.
“I was definitely going for the knockout, but I would have preferred her to come out on her feet, not lying on a stretcher.
“We’re keeping our fingers crossed that everything goes well.”
