Oleksandr Usyk will BEAT Anthony Joshua claims Tyson Fury’s promoter Frank Warren – but only if fight goes the distance

OLEKSANDR USYK’S best hope of downing Anthony Joshua will come via a points decision, according to Frank Warren. The promoter, who looks after AJ’s rival Tyson Fury, has outlined his hope that the Brit wins in Tottenham on Saturday to drum up a unification battle against the Gypsy King.

Frank Warren says Usyk will have to outbox him over 12 rounds to winCredit: PA
But he does predict a positive outcome for cruiserweight king Usyk, if he can last until the end of the 12th round.
Warren told iFL TV: “[Usyk] proved it at cruiserweight.
“He was fantastic, and he’s made his mark in that weight division. He was a superb cruiserweight. He’s done everything you could ask for.
“He’s come up a weight and fought Chazz Witherspoon, went seven rounds, and he fought Derek Chisora.
“So now that he’s up there and comfortable, I don’t think he’s a natural heavyweight. I bet you if he needed to, he could probably still make cruiserweight.
“But Anthony Joshua must be the favourite for the fight. He’s the bigger guy, much bigger, and he’s a big puncher.

“Having said that, if [Joshua] doesn’t get rid of him, and if he’s still there after five or six rounds, then if it gets to the end of the fight…
“If that goes 12 rounds, I would fancy Usyk to get the decision because to get there, he’s going to have to outbox him.
“And he’s obviously a very smart operator, you know how he’s going to fight – he’s going to try and get inside and underneath AJ’s jab.
“If you can do that, you can give him a lot of problems. I hope he doesn’t though, because we want the big fight.”
A whopping 22 of Joshua’s 24 career wins have come via knockout, although he has gone deep when necessary, to secure world title fight victories over Andy Ruiz Jr and Joseph Parker.
The 31-year-old has vowed to do what is necessary to win this weekend.

AJ stepped into the ring at Tuesday’s public work-out at O2’s Indigo where Usyk entertained the crowd with a masterclass of juggling.
The Brit says he respects Usyk but warned the Ukrainian the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium is all-out war.
Joshua said: “I feel strong and good. I’m mentally and physically conditioned so I should be able to handle the pressure.
“I feel like I have nothing if I don’t win this. It would not be the end of the road but I see getting a win here just the beginning.
“There is no strategy apart from winning. I will hurt someone or beat them until I get the win.
“Boxing needs this fight and the big fights, we have been Saudi and America but when I turned pro I wanted to get British boxing respected.
“Unless you were in America you were not respected but we have credibility now on these shores.

“We respected each other after the fight. I have met him before, in Saudi, with all due respect we are ambassadors for the sport but this is fighting, a warrior sport.
“When I watch the Durans and Haglers, we are going to war, a great fighter has a certain instinct, this is war.”
Unified heavyweight world champ Joshua turned professional with Hearn back in 2013 and stated he was delighted to remain in partnership as he plots his path towards the last remaining WBC crown – held by Tyson Fury.

“From where we began, to the middle of the journey, the foundations we have created are phenomenal and I can’t wait to see what the future holds.

Neville gifts Tyson Fury bizarre painting of ‘King’ Eric Cantona featuring Man Utd legends including Fergie and Becks

GARY NEVILLE has gifted Tyson Fury a bizarre painting featuring Manchester United legends Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Alex Ferguson. Former United defender Neville conducted an interview with the WBC heavyweight champion on a Morecambe beach for an episode on The Overlap.
The weirdest present yet? 😅@GNev2’s present for @Tyson_Fury was interesting to say the least 🤣Click below to watch the full 40 minute interview on The Overlap now 📽️🍿— Sky Bet (@SkyBet) September 21, 2021

Gary Neville handed Tyson Fury this bizarre painting of Man Utd legends
And at the end of each interview on the series, the Sky Sports pundit hands out a special gift to his guests.
But Fury, 31, received the most eye-opening present yet after Neville gave him his rare painting of Cantona and Co.
The painting – of which only 130 were made – shows the Frenchman draped in a red robe holding an English flag with other United stars in the background.
Boss Fergie is dressed in a monk-like orange tunic while Becks poses alongside Gary’s brother Phil in a knights uniform.
And the painting even includes Neville himself who is looking up at Catona from below.
Neville, 46, said: “Your favourite player at United I believe was Eric Cantona and you can put this up in your house or gym.

“Eric had it down sort of when he was the King of Old Trafford. There are only 130 made and this is the one I got. I am going to give it to you.”
Fury – who fights American Deontay Wilder for a third time on October 9 – jokes: “Thank you!
“You’re all like warriors having a fight somewhere.”
Neville responds: “No. It is me! I am like a peasant looking up at him, He is almost like the king.”

The 6ft9 champ told Neville during the interview last week that his bout with Anthony Joshua flopped because he faced a £58 million lawsuitfrom Deontay Wilder over a rematch.
And as a result, Joshua, 31, will now face a challenging mandatory title defence against Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Ferdinand tells Anthony Joshua how stepping into Cristiano Ronaldo’s house left him stunned during first Man Utd spell

RIO FERDINAND has told Anthony Joshua to learn from Cristiano Ronaldo’s “bravery” ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk. Joshua will defend his WBO, IBF and WBA heavyweight titles against the Ukrainian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this Saturday.
Anthony Joshua revealed he admires the pressure Cristiano Ronaldo puts himself under
Former Manchester United defender and Anthony Joshua sat down in an interview with William HillCredit: PA:Press Association
And the 31-year-old Watford-born boxer sat down with former Manchester United defender Ferdinand in a William Hill interview ahead of the clash.
Joshua asked Ferdinand, 42, who the best player he played with and he replied: “Obviously Cristiano is just ridiculous.
“When he joined us he was a baby, but his intelligence to grow, his obsession to get better and his desire to be the best was just relentless.
“I’ve never seen anything like it, just a man possessed to get to the top and would do anything to get there.”
Joshua then questioned: “What can I learn as an athlete with characters trying to get better at what they do?”
Rio answered: “I think you’ve gotta be brave – people never talk about Cristiano’s bravery.

BETTING SPECIAL – GET JOSHUA TO WIN IN ROUNDS 1-6 AT 60/1 OR ANYTIME AT 25/1
“He was brave to take risks, he came over to another country. He was brave to remain the person that he was, and didn’t change really.
“He became obsessed with the sport that he chose and then drilled down into details which was building a team around himself.
“I went round his house one time and I walked in and he had about six/seven people siting in his front room. I said to him, ‘Cris, who are all these people, man?’
“He was like, ‘That’s my personal masseur, my nutritionist, my doctor, my physio, my chef.’
“He had all these people and back then no one was doing that. He was a visionary in that sense.”
Ronaldo, 37, returned to United this summer 12 years after leaving for Real Madrid for a then world-record fee.
And the heavyweight champ believes his return to Old Trafford will pile pressure on the Portuguese superstar.
He said: “That’s what I find interesting, him joining Man United is a tough ask, it’s a lot of pressure that he’s gonna be under.”

And Ferdinand responded: “I don’t think he feels pressure you know.
“He expects it now, that’s pressure straight away he’s put on himself. He’s not dodging that question, ‘I’ve come here to win trophies. If I don’t, it’s a disappointment.’
“But it’s different in boxing, you can’t have a little last dance.”
AJ laughed: “It’s like me having two pints and laying flat on the floor after getting knocked out. There ain’t no last dance.
“That’s the mental thing with boxing. If you have got your last dance in your mind, you’ve gotta give everything you’ve got.
“What I think when you’re saying all this stuff with Ronaldo, like the chef, in my head it seems like a perfect world, he must have had it nice.
“But it’s because when you face that adversity, you’ve lived in this comfort putting yourself at every advantage that you can. So when you’re in adversity you can pull yourself out at the last minute.

“For me, hearing all that stuff, I’m not looking at it like, ‘He lived a happy life, chef, masseuse.’
“He just knew how tough it was and he wanted to pull himself out of those tough times, so he went the extra mile.
“Being great is having to go that extra mile time and time again.”

When is Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury happening, where will fight take place, how much money will they earn for clash?

ANTHONY JOSHUA vs Tyson Fury is the fight EVERY boxing fan wants to see. With both fighters gearing up for autumn matches, there appears to be little to stop them FINALLY facing one another in the coming months.

Joshua vs Fury – when will it happen?
Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury is set to take place over two fights, with the pair verbally agreeing a deal earlier this year.
The first fight was supposed to happen in August before Deontay Wilder’s team won a legal battle against Fury, securing the Bronze Bomber’s right to a contracted trilogy rematch.
Both Joshua and Fury have since hinted they’re prepared to re-enter negotiations for a fight in 2022, but they must first get past their next opponents.
Fury beat Wilder in Feb 2020 to win the WBC world heavyweight titleCredit: AP:Associated Press
Joshua vs Fury – where will it take place?
As stated by Hearn, the first fight is likely to take place in Saudi Arabia, with a second eyed to take place in the UK.
Anthony Joshua successfully regained his titles against Andy Ruiz Jr in Saudi while Tyson Fury wowed the crowd by making a WWE appearance in the Gulf State.
There, he was victorious over Braun Strowman.

Joshua vs Fury – how much will they earn?
A lot. That’s the simple answer. Both Joshua and Fury have already made upwards of £40million each for their respective fights with Ruiz Jr and Wilder.
So when they fight each other, expect the figures to be at last double that.
Hearn also spoke earlier this year about how he expects the pair to make ‘Mayweather money’, referencing the grand purses Floyd used to pull in for his fights.

“It’s certainly I think, you know, the biggest fight, the most lucrative fight, in boxing right now – unquestionably,” Hearn said.
“That’s Mayweather money. You know? And we haven’t seen Mayweather money since Mayweather.
“I think it’s impossible to give a number. There’s no set purses for this fight because, obviously, it’s a revenue share. But it’s certainly gonna break records everywhere.”
It’s been speculated, however, that the pair could earn £80m each.
Joshua vs Fury – what hurdles are left to clear?
Unfortunately for fight fans, a few.
First, Joshua has to beat Oleksandr Usyk in a huge fight this weekend at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Fury has a third fight planned with Wilder, with those two preparing to clash in a Las Vegas event on October 9.
Should Joshua and Fury come out of their bouts victorious, talks will likely resume between the pair for a fight to take place in early 2022.

Joshua vs Fury – what channel will it be on in the UK?
This could be a tricky one.
Joshua has an exclusive deal with Sky Sports in the UK, one which expires after this fight with Usyk, and while Fury’s deal with BT Sport isn’t exclusive, he’s closely aligned with them.
Fury, however, has fought on Sky Sports Box Office before, most notably for his world heavyweight title win over Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
Eddie Hearn says the fight will be signed in the next four weeksCredit: PA:Press Association
Don’t be surprised if the two sides come to an agreement where both Sky and BT decide to work together on a dual-broadcast.
Streaming DAZN, however, have also entered the UK market, and they’re likely to want a slice of the pie, too.
One thing holding any potential bids from DAZN, however, is that they don’t offer fights on pay-per-view, like Sky and BT do.
In the U.S., the situation is also tricky.
Fury has an exclusive deal with ESPN, while Joshua’s last four fights have been shown on streaming service DAZN in the U.S.
ESPN offer a pay-per-view service for their big fight nights while DAZN work on a subscription-based model, making a deal for the fight to be shown on both channels difficult.
Arum recently said: “It will be a normal pay-per-view here (in the United States). ESPN will be the distributor.”
“Obviously, the big market is the UK, where everyone is talking it will do three million homes. Sky and BT both will have it on pay-per-view.”
DAZN will likely stream the fight for rest of the world territories.
Joshua vs Fury – what have they all said?
Joshua: “We were meant to have fought by now and here we are talking about it,” Joshua said.
“But it will happen. I know what people are saying about boxing politics, but I’ll promise before the end of my career I will have done everything in my power to fight Tyson Fury.”
Fury: “Anthony Joshua’s fought not one heavyweight in his prime,” he said.
“They’re all former good men, back in the early 2000s, late 2000s, but not in 2020-odd. They were good men 10 years ago.”
Frank Warren is confident the fight will take place in May or JuneCredit: PA:Press Association
Hearn: “I think AJ, in his head, probably thinks the fight will never happen. I would like to be more hopeful and I think it will happen.
“If AJ knocks out Usyk and Fury knocks out Wilder then in four months we are talking about an even bigger fight. One could lose or look bad but I do get the feeling if they both win then the fight is huge. I am hoping it works out for the best.” More

AJ’s clash with Usyk will is the last fight on his contract with Sky
Joshua – who has just signed a new career-defining deal to stay at Matchroom – could bank a massive £30million for Saturday night’s defence against Usyk.
Sky are confident of tying AJ down to a new contract, although new boxing powerhouse DAZN are in the running to snap up the broadcaster’s cash cow.
Joshua, 31, has made a pretty penny during his time competing on Sky.
And with his future with the broadcaster in doubt, SunSport thought it’d only be right to recap the Brit’s earnings for his last eleven fights.
Check out AJ’s last ten purses below:
    Dillian Whyte – December 2015 – £3million
AJ’s grudge match with amateur rival Whyte saw him bank his first multi-million-pound payday.

    Charles Martin – April 2016 – £5million
Joshua’s maiden world title fight against the previously undefeated Martin saw him receive a 66 per cent increase in pay, with his purse being a cushty £5m.

    Eric Molina – December 2016 – £5million
AJ pocketed the same purse for his clash with Molina as he did his maiden title fight with Martin.
And just like he did with Prince, he made light work of the Drummer Boy – knocking him out inside three rounds.

    Wladimir Klitschko – April 2017 – £15million

That purse represented a staggering 200 per cent increase on the one he received for his destruction of Molina.
    Carlos Takam – October 2017 – £10million
Despite further catapulting himself into global superstardom and becoming unified heavyweight champ, Joshua’s purse for his clash with Takam ended up being two-thirds of his Klitschko payday.
But that clearly wasn’t on his mind as he registered a 10th-round TKO victory over the Frenchman.
    Joseph Parker – March 2018 – £16million
AJ received a 60 per cent pay increase for his champion vs champion bout with then WBO titleholder Joseph Parker.

    Andy Ruiz Jr – June 2019 – £20million
Joshua’s purse for his long-awaited American debut stayed the same as the one he received for his clash with Povetkin.
But his status as unified heavyweight champ went up in smoke at Madison Square Garden as short-notice replacement Ruiz Jr scored a stunning seventh-round TKO victory.
    Andy Ruiz Jr – December 2019 – £66million
The biggest payday of Joshua’s career came in his must-win rematch with Ruiz in Saudi Arabia, which was dubbed ‘The Clash on the Dunes’.
Joshua’s purse for his second clash with the Mexican was a staggering 3200 per cent larger than his previous payday – which is not surprising given the global interest in the fight.
