Tyson Fury says he’s heavier than he was for Deontay Wilder rematch and ‘training like Rocky’ ahead of trilogy fight

TYSON FURY thinks his heartbreak-hit training camp will make another Deontay Wilder win worthy of a bomb-riddled Rocky movie.Britain’s WBC heavyweight king was forced into the bout by an American judge but, after weeks of training, a case of Covid-19 floored their July 24 fight.

The rearranged Saturday clash looked set to follow smoothly on from the August 8 birth of Fury’s sixth child Athena – but the baby was hit with complications at birth and had to battle out of intensive care.
Fear of catching coronavirus again, and leaving wife Paris too soon, meant Fury trained himself for a couple of months and only flew out to Las Vegas to acclimatise on September 18.
But the 33-year-old reckons all the trials and tribulations will put another victory over the Bronze Bomber up there with Sly Stallone’s most iconic wins over Ivan Drago, Clubber Lang and Apollo Creed.
The 6ft 9in Gypsy King said: “I’ve been training myself like in the Rocky movies.
“Like I said, what I don’t know about boxing ain’t worth knowing.
“As long as my weight’s all right — I’m around 20st at the moment, nice and high, plenty of weight on me — I can always box for 12 rounds no matter what condition I’m in.

“The man who is in shape who trains all year round doesn’t need a ten-week training camp.
“A man who’s in shape all year round just needs two weeks sparring and he’s done, ready to go.”
Wilder’s long list of excuses for getting battered in their February 2020 rematch are too fanciful even for a Hollywood script.
But Fury remembers being dropped twice by the 35-year-old in their original 2018 draw and wants to remind fans he is dealing with a dynamite-fisted assassin.
Fury laughed: “I’m playing with an atomic bomb.
    “He’s very, very dangerous.
I’m around 20st at the moment, nice and high, plenty of weight on meTyson Fury
“With most boxers they need to hit you with five punches, with Wilder he can hit you with a quarter punch and knock you spark out.
“Wilder’s my most dangerous fight since Wladimir Klitschko.
“Once I got that guy out of the way I knew Wilder would be my most dangerous opponent.
“That’s what we’re messing with — my ultimate dangerman.
“If you could design any fighter to be able to compete with me as a boxer then it would be Deontay Wilder.
How Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder stack up ahead of the trilogy fight
“Wilder’s only got one loss in 44 fights, he’s very dangerous and I’m up for the challenge. I’m very up for it actually.
“Although I beat the guy last time, the first fight was a draw and we will see what happens in the third fight.
“I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

And Rashford was able to celebrate a United victory as Blackmore edged out Red Devils fan Bez, aka Mark Berry, on points.
The event, held in Manchester, saw many famous names take to the ring – including DJ Tom Zanetti and Love Island star Luke Mabbott.
Other fighting celebs included Dan Osborne, Jamie Jewitt, Jake Quickenden, Marcel Somervile and Simon Webbe.
Rashford was taking a well-earned break from rehab as he continues his recovery from shoulder surgery.
The England international went under the knife in August and returned to contact training with his team-mates on Friday.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer revealed: “There were a few tackles flying in on him [Rashford] and he seemed OK, which was nice to see.

“Marcus is fit, he’s worked really hard, but he’s not had any contact [until now].
“If his shoulder can take the contact now, he should be ready after the internationals.”
And the Red Devils could do with having Rashford available after winning just two of their last six games in all competitions.
Solskjaer’s side struggled to a 1-1 draw against Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon, leaving them two points behind leaders Chelsea.
Rashford has been a constant figure in United’s team since making his breakthrough during the 2015-16 season.
He’s scored 88 goals in 271 appearances for the club – playing an incredible 57 games last term as they finished second in the Prem.

Mike Tyson ‘blown away’ by Anthony Joshua’s ‘dignified’ reaction to Oleksandr Usyk defeat and says ‘both men won’

Joshua, 31, has refused to dwell on the negative and has vowed to use the lesson he was taught as a means to improve.
And the Watford warrior’s mentality following the crushing defeat has seen him gain even more respect from Iron Mike.
Tyson tweeted: “Just rewatched the fight with Joshua & [Usyk] I thought that the way they conducted themselves after the fight was first class.
“I like the way Joshua handles his losses with so much dignity.
“Everybody knows I got a little hater in me but my mind was just blown away seeing [it].”
Although Joshua came up short in the Tottenham tussle, Tyson reckons he was also a winner on the night.

He continued: “These two men conduct themselves with so much class.
“That’s just what I saw when my ego wasn’t out of wack after the fight with two profound gentlemen.
“I think both of the fighters won that night, in my opinion.”
Tyson believes Joshua adopted the wrong tactics for his clash with the undefeated Usyk and reckons he should’ve been aggressive from the outset.
He told ES News: “It was the speed more than anything that f***ed up Joshua.
“He started late, he’s still learning. He can still learn, he’s a baby.”
I like the way Joshua handles his losses with so much dignityMike Tyson
Joshua admits he took the wrong approach for the Tottenham tussle, saying: “I’ve watched the fight, analysed my preparations and identified my mistakes.
“I’ve learnt my lesson. Don’t worry about me. My spirit is strong!”
AJ is confident of besting the former cruiserweight king second time around, adding: “If you look at it from a negative point of view, you’re never going to have that mindset that you can make a difference because you’re down anyway.
“But if you look at it from a positive point of view, and realise, ‘Yeah, I took a loss.
“‘But that’s a lesson, that’s a blessing. I can use it as fuel to get better.

“‘And use it as fuel to right my wrongs. You can only get better from there.
“So I’m not gonna hold myself down from the mistake I made, I’m only gonna uplift myself and say, ‘Actually, you know what? That was a tough fight.
“‘But from that fight, I’m gonna go away, get my notepad out and find ways to improve.”

Tyson Fury and Frank Bruno join forces to fight mental health stigma as ex-champ reveals he was sectioned in summer

TYSON FURY has joined forces with British boxing legend Frank Bruno to KO the stigma surrounding mental health. The pair have both been vocal about their respective battles with bipolar disorder in recent years.

Bruno discussed his battles with bipolar disorder during a trip to Fury’s gym in MorecambeCredit: WOW HYDRATE
And the heavy hitters – who are helping one another with their ongoing battles with the illness – are encouraging those suffering in silence to speak out if they’re struggling.
WBC heavyweight champ Fury said: “I feel like now a lot more people are coming out with mental health stuff.
“And it’s smashing the stigma for mental health but the more people talk about it the more it will overcome all that.”
Hammersmith hitman Bruno, 59, said: “Tyson’s had his struggles outside the ring and so have I.
“If we can speak openly about the difficult days we’ve suffered then nobody should feel ashamed to ask for help.
“It’s only by doing that, and by letting the shackles off, that you start to feel better.

“This is a great moment to remember how much more we all need to do to support those going through tough times. Don’t be afraid to ask for help.”
Bruno paid a visit to Morecambe earlier this year to discuss all things mental health with The Gypsy King, who at the time was preparing for a Battle of Britain with Anthony Joshua.
The former WBC champ recently opened up on his struggles in an exclusive interview with SunSport, revealing he was sectioned during lockdown due to concerns for his safety.
He said: “It has been the hardest and most terrifying time of my life. I hit rock bottom and suffered a breakdown.
“For my own safety and for the safety of others, I was sectioned and taken back into hospital.
“I had to face up to the fact my illness had returned after years of keeping a lid on it. I had to fight for my sanity and there were times I feared I wouldn’t get through it.
YOU’RE NOT ALONEEVERY 90 minutes in the UK a life is lost to suicide.
It doesn’t discriminate, touching the lives of people in every corner of society – from the homeless and unemployed to builders and doctors, reality stars and footballers.
It’s the biggest killer of people under the age of 35, more deadly than cancer and car crashes.
Yet it’s rarely spoken of, a taboo that threatens to continue its deadly rampage unless we all stop and take notice, now.
That is why The Sun launched the You’re Not Alone campaign.
The aim is that by sharing practical advice, raising awareness and breaking down the barriers people face when talking about their mental health, we can all do our bit to help save lives.
Let’s all vow to ask for help when we need it, and listen out for others… You’re Not Alone.
If you, or anyone you know, needs help dealing with mental health problems, the following organisations provide support:

“Being locked up against your will is the worst thing you can ever imagine. It’s ten times scarier than boxing.
“Being in a hospital for weeks during the pandemic only made it all the more terrifying.
“But, thankfully, not least due to the support and love of family and friends, I was able to pull myself away from the cliff-edge. I’m still standing.”
Having previously suffered in silence, former WBC champ Bruno wants speaking out to become the norm.
He said: “I want to say it’s OK to admit you need some help.
“Right now, I’m doing well, but I know I can never get ahead of myself or take things for granted.
“My illness will be with me for life and the challenge is learning how to live with it better.”

Jake recently shared the ring with former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, while older brother Logan boxed Floyd Mayweather in June.
The YouTubers have divided opinion in the boxing world, but Tyson admits he’d jump at the opportunity to face either man.
When asked if he’d fight one of the Pauls, the 55-year-old said on his podcast: “Yeah, hell yeah.”
Guest Freddie Gibbs poured cold water on Tyson potentially facing either Paul brother, insisting they wouldn’t share the ring with him.
A defiant Tyson replied: “They would. That would be a lot of money.”
Tyson reckons Logan would be willing to step in the ring with him if $100million (£74m) were on the table.

The former undisputed heavyweight champion said: “He might.
“100million bucks, they’ll do anything. They don’t care about getting beat up for $100million.”
Logan hasn’t fought since his clash with Mayweather but plans to set foot inside the ring again.
He said: “Come on, baby, baby. Come on. Yeah, of course, I have to. This is the coolest thing on the planet.
“You think about the Roman Colosseum, when you watch the gladiators fight to the death.
“Look around. My brother filled this arena up in Cleveland, Ohio, his home city. It’s the coolest thing anyone could ever ask for.
“I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: Fighters, bro, modern-day gladiators. There is no more dangerous athlete.
“When the fighter walks in the room, everyone feels it. He’s got a presence. And it’s cool, I love it.
“I love the sport, I love entertaining. And honestly, I’m f***ing good, bro.”
Mike Tyson returned to the ring last year for an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr
Tyson returned to the ring last November for an exhibition match with fellow great Roy Jones Jr.
And The Baddest Man of the Planet is targeting a rematch with Lennox Lewis after his old foe Evander Holyfield fell at the hands of Vitor Belfort last month.

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3: Date, UK start time, live stream, TV channel & undercard for heavyweight trilogy fight

TYSON FURY and Deontay Wilder are ready to go to war for a THIRD time with their long-awaited trilogy fight nearly here. The Gypsy King’s showdown with the Bronze Bomber, which was supposed to take place on July 24, was postponed because Fury, as well as other camp members, tested positive for Covid-19.

Fury demolished Wilder inside seven rounds to inflict the first defeat of the American’s career back in February 2020 and win the WBC heavyweight title.
Neither man has fought since then, and both have been busy in longer training camps.
The winner is likely to fight Oleksandr Usyk, who beat Anthony Joshua by unanimous decision in their heavyweight clash to secure the WBA, IBF and WBO belts.
Any match-up between Joshua and Fury now seems remote after AJ’s defeat, but Eddie Hearn promises the pair will go for a rematch.
When is Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3?

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 was originally slated to take place on July 24, but will now take place on Saturday, October 9.
Expect the main event of Fury vs Wilder 3 at around 4am BST.
The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas plays host and Nevada is eight hours behind the UK, so the fight will begin about 8pm local time.

What TV channel and live stream is Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 on?

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 is being broadcast live on BT Sport Box Office in the UK.
The fight will cost £24.95 on BT.
In the US the event is expected to be live on ESPN+ and Fox PPV.

    How the fighters compare

    Who is on the undercard?
The event, cross-promoted by Top Rank and Premier Boxing Champions, will see a host of heavy-hitters featuring on the undercard.
That includes the battle of unbeaten heavyweights in Cuba’s Frank Sanchez meeting Nigeria’s Efe Ajagba.
Sanchez, a training partner of Canelo Alvarez who is promoted by Top Rank, will put his 18-0 record against PBC’s Ajagba, who stands 15-0.
Robert Helenius will also rematch Adam Kownacki on the bill.
Polish prospect Kownacki, 32, was defeated for the first time and stunned by veteran Helenius, 37, in March 2020.
American star Jared Anderson will return, with an opponent yet to be confirmed.
Anderson, 21, is 9-0 and was credited as a huge part in Fury’s win against Wilder last year.
He provided the Gypsy King with expert sparring Stateside, winning the praise of the WBC champion.
    What have they said?
Fury has recently been talking about how referee Kenny Bayless saved Deontay Wilder’s life in their second clash, despite the Bronze Bomber’s claims the fight was stopped prematurely.
Fury said: “The final stoppage one was where I was catching him clean, I believe the referee actually saved his life that night and saved his career.
“It was just like ‘I told you so’, and I am back where I belong and that’s it. There was no big miracle shock, it was like I was back where I was supposed to be at the top of the game, rated number one and back beating guys I wasn’t supposed to be beating.
“Physically and emotionally I have managed to push myself and come back from places I didn’t know if I could, but it was a tough ride and I have enjoyed every minute of it.”
Wilder, on the other hand, is more confident than ever he will have his hand raised in their massive trilogy.
“I just want to beat his ass. It’s as simple as that. I just want to beat his ass,” he said.
“I want it back in blood. That’s up to me. Come October 9, I will get my revenge. An eye for an eye, that’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Where is Fury vs Wilder 3 taking place?
Fury vs Wilder 3 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, making it the third different venue in pair’s three fights.
Fury vs Wilder 1 took place at Staples Center in Los Angeles back in December 2018.
The T-Mobile Arena will play host to Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder III
And while their second happened in Las Vegas, the MGM Grand Garden Arena was the venue.
But now the T-Mobile Arena, which has hosted huge fights such as Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor, Canelo Alvarez vs Gennady Golovkin and numerous big UFC events, will play host for their third clash.
    Who is training Tyson Fury?
Tyson Fury will be trained, once again, by SugarHill Steward, who took his corner for the second Wilder fight.
Fury used to be trained by Ben Davison, who was in charge for the very first Wilder bout, but was replaced by Steward a year later.
Steward instantly implemented his ‘Kronk style’ of training, one in which where boxers who fight out of the Kronk Gym in Detroit, Michigan, seek to put pressure on their opponents to force a knockout.
The style of fighting was first introduced by legendary trainer Emanuel Steward, SugarHill’s late uncle.
Fury predicted that with SugarHill in his corner, he would bring the fight to Wilder and take him out during their second fight, a prediction not many believed in.
But the Gypsy King did just that, stopping Wilder in seven rounds. And now, with 18 months more Kronk training under his belt, Fury will be looking for the same result on October 9.
    Who is training Deontay Wilder?
Wilder has brought in a new head trainer in Malik Scott, who the Bronze Bomber fought and knocked out back in 2014.
Scott and Wilder have worked all summer in attempt to sharpen the latter’s boxing skills, quickening both his feet and hands in preparation for Fury.
Wilder will still have ex-head trainer Jay Deas in his corner, but Scott will take charge on fight night.

The Alabama native used to have former world champion Mark Breland in his corner, but he was sacked after Wilder accused him of spiking his water before the second Fury fight.
It was also Breland who threw the towel in, forcing the referee to stop the fight midway through the seventh round. More
