Deontay Wilder twice knocked Tyson Fury down in the fourth round

After winning, Fury was asked what went through his head at that moment and he replied: “Not a great deal. You going swimming and you’re going to get wet.
“He caught me, he caught me twice in the fourth round. But I was never thinking ‘oh this is over’.
“I was thinking ‘okay good shot but I will get you back in a minute’ and I did.
“I was very conscious, saw the ref go three…four, and I was always there.
“He shook me, he put me down and that’s boxing and it’s life as well but it’s not how many times you get put down or how many times you lose.

Tyson Fury breaks the ‘Versace robe curse’ with Deontay Wilder KO after Conor McGregor and Billy Joe Saunders losses

TYSON FURY broke the ‘Versace robe curse’ after defeating Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas.Boxing fans had feared the Gypsy King would lose his undefeated record after daring to wear a custom-made Versace robe.
Tyson Fury broke the so-called Versace curse by beating Deontay Wilder
The Gypsy King wore a yellow Versace outfit in May
After all, Conor McGregor lost to Floyd Mayweather after donning a similar outfit.
And Billy Joe Saunders, a close friend of Fury, also suffered the same fate when he wore a Versace robe ahead of his bout with Canelo Alvarez earlier this year.
Those results meant the clothing item carried a bit of a curse – but not for Fury.
The Brit was troubled by Wilder in their third fight, with fans claiming a slow count stopped him from losing in the fourth round.
But Fury recovered to dominate Wilder before landing an 11th round knockout to retain his WBC world title and lift the Versace curse.
Fury was as fearless in the ring as he was out of it – and he clearly did not believe in the so-called curse.

In May he donned a brightly coloured Versace gown in preparation to meet Wilder in July – raising questions over whether he would be the next victim of the jinx.
But it seems it will take a lot more than that to defeat the heavyweight champion – even a huge right hand from Wilder was not enough to keep Fury down for long.
In September Fury told Gary Neville that he did not think he would ever be beaten.
And after winning despite not being at his best against Wilder – which he admitted himself – it is difficult to see him losing his undefeated record.

And the champ is now mandated to take on the victor of Whyte’s clash with Otto Wallin.
The fight, however, is contingent on Fury being unable to strike a deal to face Oleksandr Usyk for the undisputed title within 30 days.
But with Anthony Joshua officially exercising his rematch clause with the Ukrainian, the winner of Whyte vs Wallin is now guaranteed the next shot at the undisputed WBC strap.
On Saturday night, AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn told DAZN’s Maya Jama: “Today we officially triggered the rematch for Oleksandr Usyk fight, which we’ll see early next spring.
“Back in the game and we’re looking for him to become three-time world champion.
“A few niggles in camp for AJ, Usyk had a bad cut, it’s officially triggered, we’ll sit down with K2 Promotions and I think March is when you’ll see that fight.

“This was a disappointing loss to a pound-for-pound great.
“We don’t need to get back in the game with 10-rounders, he needs to rip those belts off Usyk.”
Fury’s co-promoter Bob Arum revealed this week he’s interested in a Battle of Britain between Fury and Whyte.
He told iFL TV: “That could be a big, big fight for Tyson, particularly if we held it in UK.
“That is not out of the question, Dillian Whyte is a capable heavyweight and a fight against Tyson Fury or Wilder [or] whoever wins would be a very interesting fight.”
But the 89-year-old doesn’t foresee Whyte getting past Swedish slugger Wallin.
Today we officially triggered the rematch for Oleksandr Usyk fight, which we’ll see early next springAnthony Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn
He said: “Last time he [Whyte] was mandatory, he fought Povetkin and got knocked on his ass.
“I look for Wallin to clearly beat Whyte, so I’m not even taking it into consideration.”
Despite being within touching distance of a long-awaited showdown with Fury, Whyte, is refusing to get his hopes up.
The 33-year-old said: “Tyson Fury hasn’t spoken to anyone from my team about any fight.
“If he was serious, he would have sent emails or phone calls and we’d have been talking.
“If he was serious I would probably have even waited for him and not fought until December.
“But these fights are big fights, big fights don’t get made in one or two months.
‘There’s a lot of things that need to happen.”

It has become something of a tradition for the Gypsy King to sing a classic American ballad after claiming victory in the U.S. having sung ‘American Pie’ after his first bout with Wilder.
Vegas and the T-Mobile Arena was a fitting venue for the dramatic affair, with Fury landing the first blow when he sent Wilder to the canvas in the third.
But the Brit had to overcome some very nervy moments before securing victory.
Fury experienced every kind of emotion – as did Shaquille O’Neal the Las Vegas crowd – but said he could sense victory once he first sent Wilder down.

Boxing fans were quick to comment, with one saying: “The dosser stool.”
Another said: “Okay I think this is actually pretty funny, Wilder should have one with Fury laid out.”
And another said: “Should do a spit bucket the same.”
    One remarked: “That’s hilarious.”

Fury won one of the greatest fights in the history of boxing by once again shaking off two Deontay Wilder knockdowns – and then knocking him out in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The British star TWICE picked himself off the canvas, and managed to put American Wilder down FIVE times in total.
There was no love lost between the rivals afterwards, as Fury accused Wilder of bad sportsmanship.
Fury branded Wilder a ‘sore loser’ for not showing any sportsmanship after their 11 round war.
When asked what he said in their brief post-fight chat, Fury said: “I said, ‘Well done.’
“And he said, ‘I don’t wanna show any sportsmanship or respect.’ I said, ‘No problem.'”
He added: “Very surprised [by] that. Sore loser, an idiot.” Do you know what?
“To be a top fighting man, you’ve got to show guts and respect and he couldn’t do it tonight.
    “And that’s it.”

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder walk-on DELAYED as American plays mind-games amid reports ‘new gloves did not fit’

TYSON FURY was made to wait for his walk-on as Deontay Wilder delayed his entrance to the ring. The American, 35, underwent a last-minute change of gloves moments before he was due to walk out.
Deontay Wilder delayed his walk out after a last-minute change of gloves
Tyson Fury was raring to go as he walked into the ring to defend his WBC title
BT Sport Box Office commentators suggested it was part of Wilder’s mind games, but Fury seemed non-plussed.
The Gyspy King, 33, was seen keeping busy in his locker room – shadow boxing alongside trainer Sugar Hill Steward.
He also played a bit of air guitar as he spoke with his brother Shane and kept loose behind the scenes.
Following Friday’s gloves meeting, where the two fighters got to inspect both theirs and their opponent’s kit, Wilder changed his usual pair in an effort to hurt Fury more.
He swapped to Everlast MX gloves that are regarded to benefit heavy-handed punchers but, when he went to slip then on around 8:30pm Las Vegas time, they did not fit well and the fight was delayed.
It might be proven to be another mistake to add to Wilder’s crumbling reputation – or a masterstroke used to throw the defending champion off and make him wait longer into the night.

When he finally emerged he had ditched the battery-powered 40lbs costume he wore last time out and blamed for sapping his energy.
Instead he was draped in claret red, the colour he has claimed to favour all week to celebrate his quest for Fury’s blood.
The mask remained – and it’s that theatrical accessory he claims wearing helps transform him from a loving father-of-eight to the Bronze Bomber who wants a body on his record.
Meanwhile, Fury walked out dressed as a Spartan soldier to the tune of ACDC’s ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’.
He looked as relaxed as ever as he prepared to defend his heavyweight title for the first time in his career.
