Whyte is locked in arbitration with the Mexico-based sanctioning body over his cut of their potential mega-money purse.
With a hearing set for March, it leaves Fury potentially returning in a non-title fight.
The Gypsy King’s US-based promoter Bob Arum recently revealed that Anthony Joshua’s former conqueror Ruiz Jr and Robert Helenius are two options for the unbeaten Mancunian.
He told iFL TV: “Frank Warren and I are looking for another opponent to do Fury’s fight in Manchester or in Las Vegas, depending on who the opponent is.
“So we’re looking at Andy Ruiz as a possibility, he’s available.
“This big Finnish kid, who looked very good on the semi-wind up on the Fury – Wilder card, Helenius, big, big Finnish kid, who can really fight.

“Those are the two principal guys. I guess if it’s Helenius we do it in the UK and if it was Ruiz, we do the fight in Las Vegas.”
And Ruiz Jr immediately took to his Instagram story where he stated he is willing to pit his wits against Fury inside the squared circle.
Posting a grab of Arum’s quotes, the Destroyer, who previously held the WBA, WBO and IBF belts, said: “Let’s go I need that WBC.”
Ruiz Jr then shared a snap of him alongside Fury, before urging Arum’s boxing promotional company to sort out the fight.
He added: “Top Rank let’s go.”
After losing in his rematch against AJ in December 2019, the Mexican-American has fought just once – a points win over Chris Arreola in May in which he climbed off the canvas.
Deontay Wilder has also been linked with a clash against Ruiz Jr after WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman discussed the potential dust-up.
He remarked: “[That fight] would be wonderful, and it is consistent with what the plans are for Mexico City [to secure big boxing events].

“We have been looking to return a great event to our capital.
“There have always been great fights [in Mexico City], but we have had many years without having a great event in Mexico City and yes indeed, Andy Ruiz, [a fight against Wilder] would be wonderful.
“The Wilder-Ruiz fight is perhaps the most interesting non-title fight right now [at heavyweight].
“Wilder is an explosive boxer, Andy Ruiz is a Mexican fighter, having achieved one of the great upsets in the history of heavyweight boxing and the great traction he has with Mexican fans is great, I would love to see him here in Mexico.” More

Tyson once recalled how he knocked out a bin man when he was just ten after he threw his pet pigeon in the bin.
And the Baddest Man on the Planet has now lifted the lid on how he dumped his ex-partner after she insisted they should eat one of his pigeons.
Speaking on the US radio show Boomer & Carton in 2013, Tyson was asked if he had ever tasted one of his birds.
To which he said: “I tried. I tried.
“I was dating this young lady and she said, ‘I don’t know why you’re flying those damn birds, you should be eating them.’
“She happened to grab one and — and she cooked one and proceeded to eat it. And I just couldn’t do it.”

And if we needed to know how the pigeon was cooked, Tyson stated that his old lover boiled the bird.
He then added: “It just wasn’t the right thing to do. That’s why she’s not my woman anymore.”
Asked why he didn’t stop her, he remarked: “It was her house and we were living off of her dime, so she could do [it].”
Tyson once revealed that he fought a bully as a youngster after he had ripped the head off his pet.
He said: “The guy ripped the head off my pigeon. This was the first thing I ever loved in my life, the pigeon.
“That was the first time I threw a punch. I have loved pigeons since I was nine. They were my escape.
“I was fat and ugly. Kids teased me all the time. The only joy I had was pigeons.” More

The 18-year-old, who has defied the odds to become a singer while battling dwarfism, was encouraged by the former champ to smash a plate on his head.
At first Rozik looked a little hesitant as he stood on Joshua’s table wielding a plate, as shown in an Instagram video.
But when the boxer told him to go for it, and stooped his head low, Rozik obliged and cracked the tableware on the top of his crown.
Joshua joked and rubbed his head that it hurt, before laughing the incident off.
Hilariously, he offered to do the same to Rozik, who quickly moved out of the way.
Joshua is currently training in Dubai with American coach Anthony ‘Chill’ Wilson.

The former unified heavyweight champion has spent the end of the year trialling potential new trainers in America.
But AJ took himself to the Middle East over the festive period but proved there is no rest for the wicked as he was filmed hitting pads in Dubai.

But the unbeaten Brit made no mistake in the rematch and subsequent trilogy, winning in seven and then 11 rounds.
Fury wanted to face Oleksandr Usyk – who beat Anthony Joshua in September – next in an undisputed title decider.
But instead, Usyk, 34, is contracted to an immediate rematch with Joshua, 32, set for April 2022.
Russian Mangushev, 23, who stands 6ft 7in, still believes a future fight between the Ukrainian and Fury is ‘one of the most anticipated events’ in boxing.
He said: “I am very excited for the undisputed championship fight between Tyson and Usyk.
“I think that it will not only be a spectacular fight amongst two of the smartest boxers. But also a clash of two different styles and tactics.
“Considering the fact that Usyk went up in weight, it will be a tough challenge for him.

AJ was comfortably beaten by Usyk in September and had his WBA, WBO and IBF belts snatched off of him.
But the Brit swiftly triggered a rematch clause and his promoter Hearn said it will be in the first few months of 2022 – despite talk of AJ stepping aside.
The Matchroom chief told iFL TV: “We’ve got to get together and decide a date.
“April is realistic for that fight.
“AJ is the type that fights twice-a-year, and sometimes we feel like it would be nice to fight three times-a-year.
“We’ve had offers from around the world, but I think the UK will stage that fight.”

Dillian Whyte has been called as mandatory for Fury’s WBC belt which Hearn says ended all talks of AJ stepping aside to allow Fury and Usyk to meet next.
The Essex-based 42-year-old added: “We have to sit down with [Usyk’s manager] Alex Krassyuk.
“We’ll get Christmas out of the way and we’ll start moving forward with that because it’s time to start planning.
“Obviously, there were a couple of discussions about step asides and those kinds of fights so we’ll have to see.
“But that looks very unlikely now because of the Whyte situation, which AJ is pleased about.

“He didn’t want to have those conversations unless I presented them to him.
“So if that’s not the case, he moves forward with what he wants, which is the Usyk rematch.
