Mike Tyson, 55, walks away from Jake Paul fight after negotiations with YouTuber, 30 years his junior, break down

MIKE TYSON has officially walked away from a money-spinning fight with Jake Paul.SunSport revealed last month that former world champ, 55, was in advanced negotiations with Paul, 25, about an exhibition fight in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The pair were set to take home a total of £36millionCredit: AFP
But Sun Online understands Tyson decided to turn his back on the deal because the numbers didn’t add up.
A source close to the former ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’ said: “Mike did not want to resume full-scale training to a level that the world would expect, unless he thought the money was right.
“But what seemed like a good idea at the turn of the year is now no longer a top priority.”
Tyson and Paul’s reps had been secretly thrashing out plans for the pay per view bout, expected to happen later this year, with a potential windfall of £36million ($50million).
But a business associate of Tyson told Sun Online: “The last few weeks have seen a change for Mike. He was on board for an exhibition bout with Jake in Vegas, but word is that the deal is not quite what he expected.”
Tyson also isn’t keen on putting his body through the rigours of gruelling training sessions similar to those he did ahead of his victory against Roy Jones Jr. fight.

The source said: “It is not about him not being able to physically dominate Jake, but rather his life is not conducive to training to the level that would be required.
“Mike has so much else going on too in his business life, especially with the expanding marijuana empire.”And at this moment in time the maths don’t add up.”
Tyson has been building a cannabis empire since 2016 through his Tyson Holistic label.
It’s believed he earns around £500,000 per month through his business that offers premium marijuana strains, edibles and extracts.
‘Iron Mike’ is also building a 418-acre weed-themed holiday resort he hopes will be home to a music festival to rival Coachella, as well as the world’s longest lazy river.
And aside from a luxury hotel and the lure of ‘glamping’ tents, there will be a Tyson University on site that will aim to teach cannabis cultivation tips to wannabe farmers.
In recent weeks Tyson played down the story about him talking with Paul’s team.
Iron Mike has walked away from the negotiations for a showdown with The Problem ChildCredit: INSTAGRAM@MIKETYSON
The source added: ”There is one significant factor in all this for Mike. He does not need or want to take this fight simply to enhance the image of Jake’s fighting credentials.”
In November, Tyson hinted that he was prepping to fight in the Spring when he attended the unveiling of a metal statue of himself at Mulberry Street Pizzeria, Las Vegas.
Tyson added fuel to rumours that Jake or his brother Logan could be his next opponent, admitting: “I am going to have a return fight in February and we are pretty skeptical about the opponent but it will be a really stimulating opponent.”
Former undisputed heavyweight champ Tyson made a spectacular return to the ring in November 2020 for an exhibition bout with fellow boxing great Jones Jr.
Tyson rolled back the years as he fought the former four-weight world champion to a draw.
Tyson had hoped to return to the squared circle last September for a clash with old rival Lennox Lewis.
But 15 months after his triumphant return to the ring, The Baddest Man on the Planet is seemingly no longer keen on lacing up his gloves again.
He recently admitted: “I’m not even interested in doing this stuff. It was just fun at first.
Mike Tyson is seemingly not interested in fighting againCredit: Rex
“If it was back when I first started, yes, and we were both fighting on the same card and both active, yeah, we could do it.
“But, it just turned … it just turned bad. It didn’t turn outright.
“I wanted to do it the first time just for fun to have fun and then some people took it to another level and made it financial, and then the fun went out of it.”
YouTuber turned boxer Paul, meanwhile, hasn’t set foot inside the ring since his viral KO of former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley last December.
But The Problem Child – who is currently promoting Amanda Serrano’s eagerly-anticipated clash with Katie Taylor – is seemingly eyeing a September return.
During a recent appearance on The MMA Hour: “There’s a lot going on in other aspects of my life.
“I’m going to do these press conferences over the next two weeks here to help with the promotion around Katie Taylor and Amanda Serrano and I’m very busy on the business side of things with my venture capital fund.
Jake Paul is eyeing a September return to the ringCredit: REUTERS
“So I haven’t even got back into the gym or been training at all.
“I need to have a discussion with my coaches but probably I would say August-September maybe. Maybe later. I’m trying to figure it out.
“Obviously if the stars align in some sort of way or I have a change of heart, then things can obviously move around but right now I don’t feel like that motivated to just go right back into another training camp.”

‘You stand no chance’ – Iranian Hulk vows ‘clown’ Martyn Ford will ‘leave on stretcher’ after brutal fight

THE ‘IRANIAN HULK’ has warned Martyn Ford he will ‘leave on a stretcher’ after April’s brutal boxing match.Sajad Gharibi, 29, will make his UK bow at The O2 Arena when he faces the ‘World’s Scariest Man’.
‘Iranian Hulk’ Sajad Gharibi is ready to make a name for himself in the UK boxing scene

Standing at 6ft 2in and weighing an incredible 390lbs, ‘Hulk’ is no slouch in the muscle department.
But with an equally-formidable 6ft 9in opponent, who tips the scales at 287lbs, boxing could be set to witness a true ‘super-heavyweight’ epic.
Giving Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson a run for their money, Gharibi has been working intensely on his boxing technique and fitness.
He has now vowed to make Ford ‘feel’ his ‘deadly punch’ when they touch gloves in the capital.
And ‘Hulk’ believes he will hit so hard that Ford will need lifting out of The O2 by medics on April 2.
Gharibi told Muscle and Health: “That actor, or rather ‘joke’, disrespected me for the first time in 2018 on an Instagram Live.

Dwayne Johnson is one of the top names in Hollywood and WWE

Ford, 39, is adamant he will come through his bout against Gharibi, 29, with ease.
And ‘The Nightmare’ already has his sights set on a money-spinning clash against Hollywood superstar and WWE icon The Rock.

Tyson Fury and Conor McGregor Twitter beef escalates as fight legends continue to take pot shots on social media

TYSON Fury and Conor McGregor have ratcheted up the trash talking in their extraordinary Twitter feud.Boxing champ Fury earlier dismissed McGregor as a ‘bully’ after the MMA star branded him a ‘Versace t***’ in a spat over Billy Joe Saunders’ latest fight.

McGregor accused Fury of failing to help Saunders’ dad in a row with security at his son’s blockbuster battle with pound-for-pound king Canelo Alvarez.
Tempers appeared to have cooled on Sunday evening until Fury returned to Twitter to fire off a taunt over The Notorious’ recent UFC record.
He tweeted: “@TheNotoriousMMA has done more Tapping than MJ’s old dance shoes.”
And that seems to have ignited McGregor’s famously short fuse, with the Irish hero letting fly with foul-mouthed salvo in Fury’s direction.

The 33-year-old former two-weight UFC champ appears to have been referencing Saunders, who Fury insisted was his pal in his earlier tweet dismissing McGregor as a bully.
Cryptically, McGregor also deleted and then replaced the original tweet in which he labelled Fury a ‘Versace t***’.
In its place he wrote another tweet along similar lines.
It read: “Oh no people don’t like me what will I ever do hahahahaaha idiot. You are just a little r** l***er bro. Thats all.
“You stood there while your friends father was being attacked and done nothing. That’s the be all end all bro. God luck, God bless.”

But any suggestion the ‘god bless’ was an attempt draw a line under the angry exchange was swept away with yet another McGregor tweet half an hour later.
In it he doubled down on the Versace accusations, tweeting a photo of Fury in a snazzy jacket at the Canelo vs Saunders event in Texas.
McGregor captioned it: “Get that Versace off you, you done nothing.”
Fury is set to return to the ring in an all-British bout with former sparring partner Dillian Whyte sometime in the spring.
McGregor meanwhile is eyeing a return to action after recovering from a horror broken leg sustained last July in his loss to Dustin Poirier. More

‘It’s dangerous, politics, cheating’ – Deontay Wilder slams boxing and plans to take psychedelic DRUGS to plan future

DEONTAY Wilder has claimed he will turn to psychedelics to help him decide whether or not to hang up his gloves. And the Bronze Bomber lashed out boxing bosses for creating a ‘dangerous’ world of ‘politics and cheating’.

Wilder last stepped into the ring back in October for his trilogy fight against Tyson Fury.
He was brutally dispatched by a huge Fury right-hand in the 11th round of the gruelling heavyweight slugfest.
Now the fighter, 36, has revealed he is set to turn to Ayahuasca – a South American psychedelic brew – to help him decide his next steps.
He told the Byron Scott Podcast: “I’m thinking about doing Ayahuasca.
“That’s gonna be my decision making process… Boxing’s put a bad taste because of what it’s done to me.
“It’s dangerous, politics, cheating… I still have love for the sport though.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn had been talking up the veteran Derek Chisora as a potential opponent should Wilder choose to step back into the ring.
But the Matchroom Boxing chief appeared to perform a U-turn on that suggestion earlier this month after witnessing Del Boy’s lopsided defeat at the hands of Joseph Parker.
Parker has since been mooted as a possible foe as he eyes his own American Dream to follow in the footsteps of pal Fury.
But Wilder is yet to confirm what he intends to do next after suffering consecutive defeats at the hands of the Gypsy King. More

Mike Tyson, 55, walks away from Jake Paul fight after talks with YouTuber 30 years his junior break down

Tyson Fury says Anthony Joshua ‘won’t’ rematch Oleksandr Usyk and predicts Ukrainian to ‘STOP’ AJ if fight goes ahead

TYSON FURY doesn’t reckon Anthony Joshua will end up fighting Oleksandr Usyk again.Joshua had the unified heavyweight titles ripped from his clutches in his Tottenham tussle with slick southpaw Usyk last September.

AJ immediately exercised the rematch clause placed into his contract to face the undefeated Ukranian, although Fury doesn’t believe the bout will come to fruition.
He told iFL TV: “I personally don’t think it happens because Joshua doesn’t want it and two if it does happen, which it won’t, I think Usyk stops him this time.
“You heard it here first, and I rarely get them [predictions] wrong to be fair, rarely.
“By the way, Eddie I see all the stuff you say about me not wanting to fight Usyk.
“Get your man to fight him and get that big L [loss] again, please. Prove me, wrong dosser, you work for me.”
Fury, 33, is currently preparing for a grudge match with old sparring partner Dillian Whyte – although he could’ve faced Usyk had an eleventh-hour deal to make an undisputed bout not fallen through last month.
AJ promoter Eddie Hearn accused Fury of ducking the bout, a claim that prompted The Gypsy King to say: “I’d fight Usyk seven days a week, 62 times on a Sunday in his backyard.
“I’d fight Usyk and Joshua on the same night, I don’t value them, they’re bums compared to me.
“So as for avoiding somebody, I’ve just fought Deontay Wilder three times. Do you think I’m bothered about a middleweight or some bodybuilder? I’ll annihilate them.

Eddie Hearn recently revealed Usyk vs Joshua 2 will take place in MayCredit: Marc Aspland
“Just for everybody to know, the only reason this fight fell of bed was because AJ wanted more money last minute and he thought I was going to give him an extra five million.
“Usyk will get his fight with me not a problem, when he’s beat Joshua again. Then Joshua has no chance in fighting for the undisputed championship, end of.”
A date for Joshua’s high-stakes rematch with Usyk has yet to be finalised, although Hearn recently revealed the contest will take place in the UK in May.
Promoter Eddie Hearn told the BBC: “It’s clear AJ will be fighting Usyk, which is his preferred choice.
“May is when you’ll see that fight.
“There’s the UK, America, the Middle East – we’ve had offers all around the world for that fight.
“I’d like to do it in the UK and we’ll see.”
