Oleksandr Usyk’s training preparations hits rocks ahead of Anthony Joshua fight as he cannot return to Ukraine camp

OLEKSANDR USYK’S preparations for his rematch with Anthony Joshua have been thrown into disarray following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The WBA, WBO and IBF heavyweight champion had been in England this week as talks continue with AJ over a fight date and location for their upcoming bout.

It is believed the dust-up is likely to rake place in late May or June with Tottenham among the frontrunners to host the event.
In a blow for Usyk, the Daily Mail have claimed that he will not be returning to his regular training base just outside of Kiev.
That is due to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine after Vladimir Putin declared war on their neighbouring country.
Usyk’s promoter Alex Krassyuk has told the Mail that he has ‘no idea’ what The Cat will do for his preparations.
And he suggested to them that coming back to Ukraine to train will be ‘impossible’.
Usyk could now relocate to Oxnard, California, where he and training partner Vasyl Lomachenko have had camps in the past.

The former undisputed cruiserweight champion is back in Ukraine where he has pleaded for ‘no war’ with Russia.
Posting a video on Instagram captioned ‘NO WAR’, Usyk wrote: “Some wrote to me that I ran away.
    “I didn’t, I was at work but I’m back, I’m home.
“Friends, we have to unite because it’s a hard time right now and I’m really emotional and worry about my country, and our people.
“Friends, we have to stop this war, all of us together.”
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn has insisted that the conflict between Ukraine and Russia will have no impact on Joshua’s rematch with Usyk.

Anthony Joshua ‘two weeks’ away from revealing identity of new coach and starting training camp for Usyk rematch

ANTHONY JOSHUA is two weeks away from revealing the identity of his new coach and beginning preparations for his high-stakes rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.AJ ditched long-time trainer Rob McCracken in the wake of his lopsided points defeat to the undefeated Ukranian last September – but has kept the identity of his new head coach under wraps.

Promoter Eddie Hearn expects the identity of AJ’s new trainer to be revealed in the next two weeksCredit: PA
But promoter Eddie Hearn believes all will be revealed in a fortnight when the Watford warrior knuckles down for the do-or-die rematch.
When asked when Joshua’s second tussle with Usyk will be officially announced, Hearn told BetFredTV: “I think when camp starts officially.
“If we’re looking at May or early June for the fight, you’re talking about 12 or 14 weeks to go, so we’re probably two weeks away from starting full camp and I’m sure Anthony Joshua and his team will announce any additions to that training team in due course.
“He knows what he’s doing and where he’s going.”
Defeat in his Tottenham tussle with Usyk has lit a fire under Joshua, who was outboxed and outfoxed by the slick southpaw.
Hearn said: “He’s training really hard at the moment up in Loughborough and he looks sensational.

“He’s hungrier than ever and ready to recapture his heavyweight world titles.”
A date and venue for Joshua vs Usyk 2 have not yet been finalised, although Hearn is open to hosting the fight at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium again.
He said: “I was speaking with Daniel Levy from Tottenham last night and I’d love to go back to Spurs for the rematch.
“I thought It was the most incredible stadium. I would love to go back there.
“Usyk is also on a split of the money, so they’ll be going for an option which creates the most revenue.”
Hearn has received multiple offers from around the world to stage the fight but would prefer to host it in London.

He said: “We’ve had offers from around the world to stage that fight. It’s the biggest heavyweight fight this year, certainly to date, and I think it’s going to be a major fight around the world.
“There’s a lot of interest. Mine and AJ’s preference is to do it back in London and we’re probably not a million miles away from announcing the fight.
“The contract is signed and everything is mostly done, we’ve just got to agree on a date and venue and then everything is done.”

Watch shocking moment boxer picks up opponent and performs TWO MMA move leaving commentator and referee stunned

A BOXER stunned fight fans last weekend by landing TWO double-leg takedowns at Global Legion FC 20.Alberto Blas – who also competes in mixed martial arts – appeared to forget he was taking part in a boxing match as he shot in for a takedown less than a minute into his clash with Timmy Mason last weekend.

The Cuban executed a picture-perfect power double, beautifully dropping to his knees and slamming Mason to the canvas.
The referee and announcers were left absolutely stunned by Blas’ takedown – which Mason was powerless to stop.
Blas, 27, was quickly pushed off Mason so he couldn’t rain down any ground and pound.
Stunningly, the ref didn’t disqualify Blas for his blatant violation of the rules.
But just moments later, it soon became apparent Blas’ takedown wasn’t muscle memory kicking in as he took Mason down a second time.
The ref struggled to pull El Indio off his opponent the second time but promptly disqualified him from the match after separating the pair.

Oleksandr Usyk challenges Tyson Fury to BARE KNUCKLE boxing fight in street for ‘lying’ over ducking him

OLEKSANDR USYK has hit back at Tyson Fury challenging him to a bare-knuckle street brawl. The heavyweight world champion, 35, was asked about Fury’s claim that he ducked out of a unification fight to instead rematch Anthony Joshua.

Usyk stated he has never avoided a fight with anyone – even when it risked personal reputation.
Usyk said on Behind The Gloves: “He’s lying, I never duck anybody. If he wants I can fight him right now, with bare knuckles in the street.
“In all my career, I never ducked anybody.
“Even when I had to go to Moscow, Russia and the situations between the countries was very tight, I could have big problems in my country, even then, I went to Russia in Moscow, and I fought, and I showed everybody what I was capable of doing [by beating Murat Gassiev].”
Given Fury’s father John used to be a bare knuckle boxer, calling out The Gyspsy King for such a contest may not be wise.
But there has been a lot of trash talk between the various heavyweight boxing camps over the last few weeks.

Earlier this month AJ’s promoter Eddie Hearn claimed Fury refused the Usyk bout as he wanted a warm up fight first – which will come against Dillian Whyte on April 23.
The Gypsy King hit back at that statement by claiming he could beat Joshua and Usyk on the same night – that pair will instead fight out a rematch at some point this year.
Fury would ordinarily respond to Usyk’s rebuttal but the WBC heavyweight world champion is now on a media blackout.
But before he fell silent Fury predicted another win for the Ukrainian over Joshua.
Usyk even offered to train Joshua one day after slamming his current training regime after the Brit dropped long-term mentor Rob McCracken. More

‘I can help him’ – Oleksandr Usyk offers to train Anthony Joshua and slams Brit’s new regime before heavyweight rematch

OLEKSANDR USYK is the latest heavyweight rival to have a laugh at Anthony Joshua’s training regime.Decade-long mentor Rob McCracken was the major casualty of AJ’s September loss of the WBA, IBF and WBO belts to the Ukraine sensation.

And, despite the mega-money rematch planned for June, a replacement head trainer is yet to be named.
Tyson Fury has had a couple of digs at the collapse of the 32-year-old Watford icon’s team and offered to train the 2012 Olympic golden boy himself.
And now 35-year-old Usyk has made the same sarcastic suggestion ahead of their rerun that will land in London or the Middle East.
Behind the Gloves asked Usyk about Joshua’s camp confusion.
The Ukrainian said: “I don’t think or care about what he is doing. I don’t care if he changes his trainer or his camp.
“I know I have my team and trainers and I really don’t care about how he prepares.

“In five years’ time when I have retired, if he still wants a new trainer then, I can help him establish a team.”
Usyk and WBC champion Fury tried to set up an undisputed showdown last month, by making AJ and Fury’s mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte take step-aside deals.
Talks got into the final straight before the complicated plan collapsed and blame was hurled in all directions.
Usyk is keeping his cool over the frustrating route to four-belt glory but he won’t stand for the Gypsy King claiming he ducked their fight.
And he holds up his fearless 2018 trip to Moscow to beat Russian hero Murat Gassiev – when the two nations were at loggerheads over Crimea – as a sign of his unquestionable bravery.
He said: “Fury is lying, I have never ducked anybody.
“In all of my career, I have never ducked anybody.

Mike Tyson launches attack on steroid cheats in boxing and says it’s ‘attempted murder’ for fighters to use them

MIKE TYSON has launched a scathing attack on steroid use in boxing – likening it to ‘attempted murder’.Despite the advancement of science to catch cheaters, the use of performance-enhancing drugs is still prevalent in boxing and other combat sports.

Jarrell ‘Big Baby’ Miller is arguably the most high-profile fighter to recently test positive for banned substances – popping for not one, not two, but THREE prohibited agents ahead of his proposed fight with Anthony Joshua in June 2019.
And the thought of fighters getting into the ring with anabolic steroids or any other performance-enhancing drug in their system infuriates Tyson.
During an episode of his Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson podcast, he said: “I’m not against steroids or none of that stuff, right.
“Because everyone is using that, right? But it shouldn’t be used in sports where people are physically fighting.
“It should be if you want to run faster, if you want to swim faster anything but physical confrontation.
“It’s criminal if you’re gonna hit a man [when you’re on steroids], that’s attempted murder.”

Tyson’s old foe Evander Holyfield once suggested the former undisputed heavyweight champion had used steroids after he was named in the Applied Pharmacy scandal in 2007.
He said: “Somebody high up in boxing mentioned to me that there was this other fighter who did steroids and I should too because it wasn’t illegal in boxing yet.
“I said, ‘I’m not going to do that. I ain’t no cheater.’ I was the undisputed cruiserweight champion and I was in the Olympics.
“If I started taking steroids, people would say, ‘He cheated at everything.’ But this guy told me, ‘Well, [Mike] Tyson is doing it, you should, too. I said, ‘I don’t care if Tyson is doing it, I’m not.'”
Tyson never tested positive for any performance-enhancing drugs during his hall-of-fame career, although he did admit to using a PROSTHETIC PENIS filled with urine to pass a test.
The boxing legend said: “It was awesome, man. I put my baby’s urine in it. And sometimes, one time I was using my wife’s and my wife was like ‘Baby you better not hope that it comes back pregnant or something.’
“And I said, ‘Nah, so we ain’t gonna use you anymore, we’re gonna use the kid.’ Cause I got scared that the piss might come back pregnant.”
When asked if he used an appropriate Whizzinator to match his skin tone, he replied: “I had a brown one.
“Not that it mattered in one instance when one particular tester tried not to look. “This guy was so f - - king macho he was scared.
“I whapped it out, and he was like [turning his head], ‘Hey man, take the f***ing cup.
“You know, this macho guy, he didn’t wanna look at me and s**t.”

The 57-year-old powerhouse flaunted a lean, ripped figure in the latest snap of his physique.
And Tyson’s so impressed with his father’s anatomy that he’s contemplating putting him on the undercard of the WBC heavyweight fight with Whyte.
While speaking to reporters after his mega-bout with Whyte was confirmed, Tyson said to reporters: “It will be good to have him around. I could probably get him on the undercard for how hard he still trains.”
Tyson and Whyte will finally get it cracking after months of meandering over the fight’s details.
Whyte was holding out from signing the fight’s contract as he wanted a bigger purse.

But now the pair have agreed terms for the £30million bout to go ahead – with Fury getting 80 per cent of the fight purse – compared to Whyte’s 20 per cent.
And boxing fans won’t have to wait too long to watch the pair clash in the ring as the fight’s set to take place on April 23 at Wembley, SunSport understands.
The fight’s location will be music to the ears of British boxing fans as Fury’s last five fights have all taken place in the United States.
Now with all the details sorted out, all that’s left for Fury is to find a potential opponent for his dad.
One person John’s eager to get in the ring with is Mike Tyson – who he named his son after.
Last year, John declared that he wouldn’t mind getting in the ring with Iron Mike and vowed to give his all against the controversial American boxing icon. More

And Fury is already making preparations ahead of an eight-week training camp in Morecambe.
The ace will draft in several big names to help him get ready for Whyte.
Jarod Anderson and David Adeleye are both set for sparring sessions with Fury.
But interestingly, he will also turn to Bakole, who is good friends with fierce rival Joshua.
He is currently looking to win back his belts from Oleksandr Usyk, putting a unifier against Fury on hold.
And the Gypsy King insists AJ will receive a report from Bakole after the training camp ‘telling him how good I am’.
