But The Destroyer has revealed his hiatus will soon come to an end, tweeting: “Excited to announce my next fight. Date coming soon.”
Boxing fans were quick to speculate the identity of Ruiz’s opponent for his first outing of the year.
And several of them reckon a showdown with British banger Derek Chisora is in the works.
One of excited Ruiz’s excited followers tweeted: “It’s definitely Chisora.”

He told iFL TV: “I’m working on a great fight for Derek Chisora.
“I’d love to make it, it would be so much fun.
“We are in the final stages of negotiations for that fight, hopefully we can get it made.”
Fan favourite Chisora, 37, is currently on a three-fight skid following a loss to Oleksandr Usyk and a pair of decision defeats to Joseph Parker.

EDDIE HEARN has revealed Anthony Joshua could fight Oleksandr Usyk in the Middle East for their rematch fight.Joshua, 32, is set to face Usyk on July 23 but the location for the bout is still to be decided.

Hearn wanted the fight to take place in London to give AJ an “edge”, but the promoter admitted the event would generate “double the revenue” if it took place abroad.
The previous fight was held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but it appears Joshua is heading back to the sand dunes.
Hearn told iFL TV: “I think there’s a very good chance you’ll see that fight July 23rd in the Middle East. We’re closing in on that option.”
After Joshua’s only other professional loss to Andy Ruiz Jr the Brit won back his world titles in Saudi Arabia.

But Usyk is currently making preparations for his rematch with Anthony Joshua – with the location still not confirmed but likely Saudi Arabia – amid the difficult backdrop of the war in his homeland.
Krassyuk added: “We got official permission and he left the military but his mindset still remains the same.

Additional video captured before the incident showed Townsend – who allegedly threw a bottle at Tyson – repeatedly goading the retired boxer.
And San Mateo County District Attorney has taken Townsend’s actions before the melee into account and opted not to bring any charges against Iron Mike.
Despite hiring a lawyer and looking poised to press charges, Townsend decided against bringing a case against the beloved Tyson.

San Mateo County D.A. Stephen Wagstaffe told TMZ “the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson” led to no charges being filed.
