Mike Tyson once punched Frank Warren in a hotel room and left him with bloodied eye over unpaid £2m jewellery bill

FRANK WARREN has revealed how a £2million jewellery bill led to Mike Tyson PUNCHING him. While helping the American get this career back on track with a pair of UK-based fights at the turn of the century, Warren came into very close contact with Tyson.

Tyson developed a bad reputation for his actions outside of the ring
The promoter encountered ‘The Baddest Man On The Planet’ at the height of his infamy, with an unpaid jewellery bill coming back to haunt the fighter.
And Warren has opened up on the ‘pandemonium’ the ‘petulant’ Tyson caused when flooring him inside a Park Lane hotel.
Speaking on Andy Coulson’s Crisis What Crisis Podcast, the 70-year-old recalled: “First time he came over, no problems, he was great.
“And then he went into a jewellers and walked out with an invoice for, I can’t remember the exact amount, £1.5m, £2m something like that.”

He continued: “They never paid the bill and the jewellers, quite rightly, wanted to get paid and they kept ringing me.
“And I was ringing the States. They’re telling me, ‘Don’t worry, we’re going to do another fight here let’s pay it out of that’.
“When he came back the second time he was just awful. Beyond awful.
“He was petulant, aggressive, totally different scenario.”

Warren continued: “The bill hadn’t been paid still and he’d gone into the jewellers – because there was a girl in there that he had met and he was basically showing off to her.
“And to cut a long story short, he got p***ed about it.
“I get a call. Someone tells me, ‘Mike’s not happy’.
“I go up to the hotel. Next minute, you stand there talking and he’s taken a swing at me. He actually caught me. There’s a lot of commotion. I didn’t expect it.
“It was a cheap shot. I got up and it’s pandemonium, madness in the room.
“When I say it’s my fault, I should have known. I should have pulled out of that situation from the start.”
Warren, who released his ‘Frank And Fearless’ book detailing his 40-years in the sport in December 2019, insists he exacted revenge on the ‘bully’ Tyson.
Fortunately for the London-born promoter, the blow from one of boxing’s all-time hardest hitters left him with just a bloodied eye.
He added: “I was fuming. The lawyer at Showtime wanted to call the police, I told them not to.
“All the newspapers said my jaw was broken, ribs were broken, it was all b******s, nothing was broken. My eye had a burst blood vessel, that was it.
“I made sure that he paid for what he did, hit him where it hurt.
“And he went berserk after the fight, the police actually ran him out of town. After the fight he went straight to Gatwick and they left the country.”
Warren had the last laugh, helping to set the New York bruiser up for a memorable defeat to Danny Williams four years later.
He said: “Years later, they wanted to put a fight on against Kevin McBride, Irish guy, and they wanted to sell the rights to Sky.
“I told them to put him against Danny Williams, an English guy, and I could do a better deal.
“I said to [Danny], ‘For two or three rounds this will be World War Two. Get through it and you’ll knock him out’. And that’s what he did.”
Tyson is currently in training for his second comeback fight – following his draw with fellow veteran Roy Jones Jr.
Iron Mike is expected to take on Evander Holyfield – who beat him twice in their prime – with Lennox Lewis also interested. More

Tyson Fury told Dillian Whyte ‘You’re hurt aren’t ya?’ after catching him with brutal left hook in their Wembley fight

BACK in April, Tyson Fury defeated Dillian Whyte with a stinging right uppercut at their Wembley Stadium showdown, but it was a brutal left hook that also left The Body Snatcher wounded. The Gypsy King revealed he spoke to Whyte in the ring after landing the bruising shot to his midriff.

Fury found success throughout the fight with his left hook, before finishing things off with a devastating right uppercut.
And Fury revealed he had trained his check hook pre-fight in order to keep Whyte at bay, and recalled one blow in particular that caught The Body Snatcher right in the sweet spot.
Fury said in his post-fight press conference on BT Sport: “We practised and practised and practised, long range punching, using the jab off the shoulder.
“And I think everyone will agree with me here tonight, the shot that kept catching him was the check hook, I kept clopping him with that check hook.”

Fury then revealed he couldn’t help but whisper in Whyte’s ear after landing a particularly meaty left hook to his body.
He continued: “The one thing that amazed me was I clipped the Body Snatcher with a left hook to the body and I went ‘You’re hurt Body Snatcher aren’t you?’ and he went ‘Yeah’.
Victory in front of 94,000 fans at Wembley was a 32nd win of Fury’s career, and maintained his unbeaten record as a professional.
In the build up to the fight Fury had revealed his intention to retire after the showdown, which he reiterated in the ring following the KO.

Although the 34-year-old did tease a blockbuster crossover dust-up with UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou.
Meanwhile Fury’s wife, Paris, suggested he could return for an undisputed fight for the ages against Oleksandr Usyk.
She told BT Sport: “I know in my heart I think the only reason Tyson would come back is for a unification fight.
“And I think that would be the only reason Tyson would come back in the ring. Because he has nothing left to prove – to keep boxing on, there’s nothing there for him.”
However, it appears that a blockbuster all-British fight is on the cards with Anthony Joshua awaiting confirmation for a December 3 bout. More

Wilder, 36, held an open workout in Las Vegas with his coach Malik Scott and revealed just how intense his comeback camp has been.
He said: “We’ve been doing 30 or 40 rounds nonstop. Only time I get water is during the break.
“I’ve just been doing things like that to challenge myself, doing things that have never been done before, or that you don’t really do in boxing.
“I wanted to see how my body adjusts to the long length of time without a break.

“When you can go a long time without taking a break, you’re in shape.”
Wilder’s career was left in doubt following a brutal 11th-round knockout to Fury, 34, last October.
But after a state of himself was put up in his home of Alabama, it inspired the ex-WBC champion to carry on fighting.
And now Wilder feels rejuvenated as he gets set to begin his road back to the heavyweight throne.

He said: “It feels good. Even in my first reign, a lot of it was my way. But this right here is totally 100 per cent Deontay Wilder’s way.
“I’m in a different position right now. And it just feels great to be in the position I’m in with no pressure.
“I don’t need the business anymore. When I do it, I do it for my own personal reasons.
“I’m doing it for the people and I’m doing it for some hardware, some titles.”

From the third round onwards on the way to a unanimous points win, Fury’s eye gushed blood with the ringside doctor even consulted as to whether it was safe for the Gypsy King to carry on.
But thanks to Capetillo’s work on the horror gash, Fury battled through to secure a hard-fought win – and then had to have 47 stitches.
The coronavirus lockdown saw Capetillo’s Las Vegas gym close and the Mexican admitted to having “empty pockets”.
But Fury stepped in to help the man who set him on the path to WBC glory by battering Deontay Wilder to win the belt.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Capetillo, who describes the cut as “the worst I’ve ever seen”, said: “He is still very grateful.
“When he knew we were locked down because of Covid-19 and my gym was closed, he texted me and said: ‘Is there anything I can do to help?’
“He is still taking care of me. He sent me money.
“I was supposed to be with Jessie Vargas in New York on March 14 (2020) but the fight was cancelled and I came home with empty pockets.

“He is a great man, so humble. He had the time to ask how I was doing with my family during this crisis.”
Capetillo went on to describe how once he “controlled the bleeding” against Wallin he told Fury that “everything will be good”.
And so it proved as the Wythenshawe-born fighter won comfortably on points, 116–112, 117–111, and 118–110.

Fury then went on to destroy Wilder in February that year to win the one heavyweight belt he never had before.
Her further cemented his dominance over the Bronze Bomber with a win in their trilogy fight.
Currently, Fury is in talks to sign an epic contract to fight Anthony Joshua – although the bout is yet to be confirmed. More
