Jake Paul reveals top 10 pound-for-pound stars including female rivals and Tyson Fury No1 on list… but names 13 boxers

JAKE PAUL named Tyson Fury at No1 in his top ten pound-for-pound boxing list… despite naming 13 stars. Paul’s list also had three places tied, included two women fighters and surprisingly left out Canelo Alvarez, 31.

Unbeaten WBC heavyweight champion Fury, 32, reigned supreme in the unisex list.
American welterweight rivals Errol Spence, 32, and Terence Crawford, 35, in talks for an undisputed title fight this year, then came joint second.
Similarly, light-heavyweight champions Dmitry Bivol, 31, and Artur Beterbiev, 37, both shared third.
In fourth was current unified heavyweight champ and ex-cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk, 35.

Then Katie Taylor, 36, and Amanda Serrano, 33, who is promoted by Paul, sat at fifth, despite the Irish star’s win in April.
Shakur Stevenson, 25, set to move up to lightweight, came in at sixth following his 19th straight win.
And undisputed light-middleweight ruler Jermell Charlo, 32, was just behind in eighth.
David Benavidez, 25, chasing a fight at super-middleweight with Canelo, was named in ninth.

And just inside the top ten was Naoya Inoue, 29, commonly in most top three pound-for-pound list.
Paul explained his shock decisions in a statement after revealing his list on his podcast.
He said: “First and foremost, Tyson Fury has just been so dominant in the heavyweight division for so long.
“He beats every heavyweight by KO/TKO including Usyk and there hasn’t been a heavyweight in the history of the sport who hasn’t fallen off eventually and Tyson Fury has remained on top and I think he will retire on top.
“However, what Usyk has done from cruiserweight to heavyweight has been impressive and his dominance, versatility, and boxing ability is second to none.
“Terence and Errol is obvious and it just needs to be settled. Artur Beterbiev is the only current champion who holds all KO’s and that’s not talked about enough.
“Bivol being in the same weight class means they need to settle who’s better, however, Bivol knocks Canelo off the list not only after beating him at 175 but for being willing to go to 168.

“We all know it would be the exact same fight at 168 which bumps Canelo of the list plus Canelo ducking Benavidez and Charlo.
“Moving on, it p****s me off that most pound-for-pound list don’t include Amanda or Katie. Like wtf.” More

But the WBC champion has grown increasingly frustrated and wanted the deal signed yesterday as he turned his attention elsewhere.
So with AJ still training for a return by the end of the year, Whyte – who lost to Fury in April – has offered himself as an alternate option.
He told Sky Sports: “If the Fury fight doesn’t get made with him and Joshua, me and Joshua can fight in December if he wants.
“He’s training for it, he’s ready for it, he’s willing to take Fury on so if that fight doesn’t get made I’ll step up and take the fight with Joshua.”

Fury, 34, claimed Joshua, 32, was officially out of the running as he instead turned called out Manuel Charr, 37.
He said: “Manuel Charr, so it seems now that AJ’s finally out, he’s ducked his way out, s***bag, coward.
“And you’re the man that wants to fight and I like that. I like the fact that you’re very vocal and you’re calling for a fight like a real man should do.

Although Hall of Fame promoter Frank Warren also voiced his frustration at a deal not yet being struck.
He said on talkSPORT: “We’ve done all that’s necessary with BT, ESPN and DAZN. They’re all happy.
“We gave them a contract. They’ve had it for two weeks and it hasn’t come back yet.
“Ticketing and the venue is ready to go. We’ve agreed transparency with them.

Joe Joyce loved cheerleading and springboard diving before becoming fearsome heavyweight boxer

JOE JOYCE has professed his love for extreme sports – while also revealing he has a nimble side. The Brit heavyweight used to enjoy springboard diving and cheerleading because, despite being 6ft 6in, he can “twist and flip” through the air.

As a youngster Joyce, 37, dreamt of Olympic glory in athletics.
But the multitalented Juggernaut also tried his luck with other sports before turning to boxing.
When asked what he’d do if he wasn’t a boxer, Joyce told SunSport: “I was even considering doing springboard diving because I grew up by Putney Leisure Centre and did a lot of stuff on the boards.
“I could do a lot of somersaults and different things, so I was interested in doing that.

“Maybe I could have done a thing with Tom Daley, what is it the duo thing? But maybe not I don’t know… I’m a tall guy.
“But I can twist and I can flip as well and I enjoyed cheerleading for example, and doing the somersaults and stuff.”
Joyce was a latecomer to boxing, taking up the sport in his early twenties and not turning pro until after his 31st birthday.
But as soon as he laced up the gloves and stepped out onto the canvas, he knew it was the sport for him.

The Juggernaut added: “When I started boxing, I knew that this was the sport I wanted to be in.
“I had the enjoyment factor, and I could see with each fight that I was getting closer and closer to where I wanted to be.
“And all I needed to do was keep winning my fights and I could see the route to the top. It was very clear I was in the right place.”
Joyce did achieve his Olympic dream, not in athletics but in boxing, controversially being denied gold but winning silver at Rio 2016.

Six years later and Joyce now has heavyweight title glory in his sights after brutally knocking out Joseph Parker last weekend.
As interim champion he is in line for a shot at Oleksandr Usyk’s WBO belt, while WBC champ Tyson Fury has even suggested he could LOSE to Joyce if the two Brits were to fight.
Both Usyk and Fury, as well as Anthony Joshua, are on Joyce’s wishlist for when he returns to the ring in spring 2023.
With one of the division’s elite eyed for his next fight, it’s a good thing the Juggernaut doesn’t mind taking the punishment that comes with being a pro boxer.
Joyce concluded: “I like extreme sports… and boxing for me is an extreme sport.

Desperate Putin drafts 7ft boxing legend Nikolai Valuev, 49, to fight Ukraine after spending 10 years hunting Bigfoot

VLADIMIR Putin’s shoestring army has been forced to call up a 49-year-old former boxing World Champion to fight in Ukraine.Giant Nikolai Valuev, who stands at 7ft tall, is the tallest and heaviest world champion in boxing history.

At his peak, he weighed 149kg, or almost 23 and a half stone.
After retiring in 2009, he went into politics and joined the Russian parliament or Duma in 2011 as a member of the Putin-backing United Russia party.
Such was his gargantuan size, a special chair had to be made for him to sit in when he attended parliament.
In 2010, Valuev’s doctor said he was treating the man mountain for “serious bone and joint problems”

He was forced to undergo two operations that required six months on the sidelines and confirmed in 2013 that medical advice was the main reason he wouldn’t return to the ring.
But that hasn’t stopped Putin’s army from calling him up for the frontline in Ukraine.
In an interview with Russian state media, he said he had been handed his summons when he was in the Donbas in eastern Ukraine.
Unlike his other parliamentary colleagues, he has been told to go to the military registration and enlistment office.

“In my opinion, everyone has received a summons, I also received a summons,” he told Russian language publication Izvestia. “Will I go? Of course, I will go to the enlistment office now.”
Speaking of his fellow MPs, he said: “My colleagues are good, they were registered for military service in the State Duma and received summons here, but I have to go home.
“I received the summons right before my trip to Donbas, and I was not at home.”
He added: “Next week I will definitely go and report to the enlistment office.”
Will I go? Of course, I will go to the enlistment office nowNikolai ValuevEx-world heavyweight boxing champ
Valuev competed in the heavyweight category during his 16-year career between 1993 and 2009.
He was World Boxing Association world champion between 2005 and 2007, and again in 2009, when he was defeated by Brit David Haye in the so-called “David Vs Goliath” fight.
After retiring, the Daily Star reports that he has dedicated the past decade trying to prove the existence of the Russian “Bigfoot”.
Such was his obsession, that he even appeared on the 2013 Channel 4 series “Bigfoot Files” trekking through the Siberian wilderness.
In 2011, he went on a separate mission to try and track down Bigfoot, as reported by an official Russian government press release.
“Valuev did not manage to meet the yeti itself but on the way, he discovered ‘traces’ such as broken tree branches,” it read.
“By the time they reached the cave, the expedition saw gigantic footprints, similar to a human’s.”
It comes after ex-Everton and Russian footballer Diniyar Bilyaletdinov was called up to fight in Ukraine, his father revealed.
The 37-year-old midfielder, who made 59 appearances for the Toffees between 2009 and 2012, last served in the military almost two decades ago.
His dad Rinat confirmed that he had been signed up to fight in Putin’s disastrous war in Ukraine, despite being two years over the official cut-off age for new recruits of 35.
“Diniyar really received a summons,” he told Russian publication sports.ru.
“It is difficult to talk about emotions, because he did not serve, although he did military service, but it was specific, with a sports bias. It was 19 years ago.
“That is, yes, he took the oath, but served in the sports line. The law still says – to call people up to 35 years old, and he is 37, so there is some kind of inconsistency here.
“Now he will find out whether this agenda is correct or whether it was sent early. Anything can happen.”
The news follows revelations that staff from Russia’s national football team have refused to turn home from a friendly match in neighbouring Kyrgyzstan, as hundreds of thousands try to flee from Putin’s partial mobilisation.

Deontay Wilder says Anthony Joshua was ‘fearful of running out of gas’ in Usyk rematch and reveals Brit’s ‘big problem’

DEONTAY WILDER accused Anthony Joshua of being “fearful of running out of gas” in his rematch loss to Oleksandr Usyk. AJ was beaten on points by Usyk for the second time in the space of 11 months in August in Saudi Arabia.

And Wilder pointed to Joshua’s gas tank as a major fault in his style.
He told Sky Sports: “I just think Joshua was very cautious in what he did as far as exchanging punches.
“I always forever said it, as I see it he has a big stamina problem. I think if he can correct that, I think you will see a different Joshua.
“You won’t see one that’s so hesitant to throw punches and do things especially when he had Usyk, was close to getting him out of there.

“I think he was just a little fearful of running out of gas too quick and too fast and he held back a little bit.”
Usyk, 35, set himself up for a historic four-belt unification bout with Tyson Fury, 35, the first in heavyweight history.
But he ruled himself out until next year to rest and recover with loved ones having returned to his war-torn home of Ukraine.
Fury instead turned his attention to beaten-and-bruised Joshua, 32, as talks continue over a December 3 Battle of Britain bout in Cardiff.

Usyk reacted by calling out Wilder, 36, who returns on October 15 against former sparring partner Robert Helenius, 38.
He said: “I heard about the Usyk situation and he’s going to be there. I hold Usyk to be a man of his word.
“If Usyk’s saying he wants to give me an opportunity for the titles then that’s what I’m holding his word to.
“I always tell people that I don’t look past fighters but I do look through them, there’s nothing wrong with that, being confident in yourself and looking ahead once this chapter is closed.
“I’ve got to handle business at the end of the day. Without handling business then nothing else is moving forward.
“I’m taking it one fight at a time. I’m taking it all in one day at a time.
“Once I’ve accomplished and finished what I have to do with Robert then I’ll move on and I’ll be looking forward to the next challenge, whether it’s Usyk or whether it’s anybody else.”
