Tyson Fury reveals he was left scared after not being able to remember how many times Deontay Wilder knocked him down

TYSON FURY wanted to retire from boxing after forgetting how many times he was sent to the canvas in his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder. The Gypsy King closed the book on his epic rivalry with the former WBC heavyweight champion with a brutal 11th-round knockout in their Sin City showdown last October.

But Fury’s first title defence came at a cost as he was dropped twice by the vicious power puncher, knockdowns he couldn’t recall in the immediate aftermath of the fight.
In his new autobiography, the 34-year-old said: “So while getting my face punched in for a living has put millions of pounds in the bank, a fighter needs to know when their time is up and mine is near.
“Walking away from boxing may be the hardest thing I ever do.
“All I know is that I don’t want to overstay my welcome, ruin my legacy, or die from a big right to the side of the head.

“And believe me, an ending like that has felt worryingly real at times.
“I even experienced short-term memory loss following that bruising encounter with Wilder in 2021, when, in the hours after the win, my head covered in tennis ball-sized lumps, it was impossible to remember how many times I’d gone down.
“Everything was foggy, and the experience frightened me.”
The bruising encounter scared Fury stiff and hastened his plans to walk away from the sport.

He continued: “No way do I want to end up living out my days in a wheelchair, or eating my dinners through a straw.
“After that fight with Wilder, I told my promoter Frank Warren that I planned to retire.”
Fury did eventually hang up his gloves after his brutal sixth-round knockout of Dillian Whyte in April, although he’s since performed a U-turn on that decision.
The former unified heavyweight champion will defend his WBC strap against Derek Chisora at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on December 3.

And the prospect of retirement seems like an afterthought for the Wythenshawe warrior, who recently told talKSPORT: “I ain’t going anywhere.
“I had retirement for four or five months and I didn’t like what I tasted.
“I could fight maybe ten more times.

‘Jake Paul is better’ – Tommy Fury makes KSI dig after praising boxing rival following Anderson Silva win

TOMMY FURY admitted Jake Paul is the better boxer than YouTube rival KSI. The 2019 Love Islander has been linked with a fight against the pair of celebrity stars.

But he said Paul, the man he has twice signed to face but pulled out both times, is the better of the duo.
Fury said on The MMA Hour: “I have go to say it, Jake is better than KSI. KSI honestly, I think my mother could knock out KSI in a round.
“I’m telling you, when I watched him fight those two men – I wasn’t even looking at the two men as they are useless – I was watching him and what he does as a boxer, he can’t fight.
“There’s some people in this world that are rough and ready, can fight, you know training and whatever. He can’t fight.

“You look at KSI and I don’t see a fighting man, I see a pretender, plays Fifa on YouTube, whatever he’s famous for, I don’t see anything.”
KSI, 29, won his professional debut in 2019 after beating Paul’s brother Logan, 27, by split-decision, a year after they drew.
And he returned in August after three years out and beat rapper Swarmz, 25, and Mexican journeyman Luis Alcaraz Pineda, 23, on the same night.
Paul, 25, meanwhile is now 6-0 after beating UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, who was his first opponent with recognised boxing experience.

Fury, 23, makes his return on November 13 in Dubai against 5-2 American Paul Bamba, 33, on Floyd Mayweather’s undercard.
And he is open to fighting Paul or KSI in the future – potentially one after the other.
He said: “Both in the same night, preferably. Both in the same night, honestly.
“Let me tell you now, this is what I’m going to say and I haven’t really spoke on the Jake Paul situation much in recent months.
“When you see me get in the ring with one of these guys, I don’t know who it will be first, whether it’s KSI or Jake Paul.
“You will see the definition of an easy night, you will see why I’ve been saying what I’ve been saying. These guys can’t fight.”

The American cried as he paid tribute to boxer Prichard Colon, who suffered brain damage in the ring.
Fury, who drew and twice knocked out Wilder, reacted by suggesting he was the one who humbled his heavyweight rival.
He told True Geordie: “Maybe I knocked a bit of sense into him and maybe he’s been humbled from the three beatings I gave the sucker.
“He’s a former knockout victim of the Gypsy King.”

Wilder, 37, was knocked out most recently by Fury, 34, in October 2021 which sparked a year hiatus from the ring.
But the Bronze Bomber returned in trademark fashion by knocking out Helenius, 38, with the first right hand he threw.
Wilder later apologised to the Finn and broke down in the subsequent press conference.
He said: “We’ve seen what happens, look at Colon. How he got hit, Richard Collon, correct.

The former light-middleweight contender was left in a persistent vegetative state following repeated blows he took during the bout.
Wilder – who once claimed he wanted a “body on his record” – voiced concern for ex-sparring partner Helenius, 38, following his brutal KO.

Tommy Fury says Jake Paul grudge match will sell out 70,000 stadium in UK and reveals why YouTube MUST fight him

TOMMY FURY believes a grudge match with Jake Paul gives the YouTuber the chance to legitimise himself and sell out a 70,000-seat stadium. The celebrity boxing rivals have TWICE signed to fight but both times Fury was forced to pull out.

A rib injury in December was soon followed by a US visa issue in August, leaving their business unsettled.
And Fury confirmed his travel ban in America still stands, meaning Paul would have to come abroad for the bout.
But his British rival reckons they have the joint pulling power to pack out a stadium in the UK.
Fury said on The MMA Hour: “I don’t believe that there’s anybody in this country that wouldn’t come to this fight.

“I think over here that would break all records because Jake is very popular over here.
“You know, my popularity lies here in the UK. So yeah, I think definitely we could definitely draw 70,000 for that.”
Paul, 25, improved to 6-0 over the weekend by beating UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, on points over eight rounds.
It was the social media star-turned prizefighter’s biggest win to date and against his first opponent with prior pro boxing experience.

Fury, 23, admitted Paul is a better boxer than YouTube nemesis KSI, 29, but said both have to fight him in order to gain any sort of recognition.
He said: “If Jake Paul and KSI didn’t have to fight me, they wouldn’t. They have to fight me to prove that they are legitimate boxers.
“They have to. There is nobody else with my following and my exposure with eight fights in, there’s nobody.
“If they wanna be regarded as boxers, they have to go through me.
“This fight between me and Jake does not need selling and I will definitely, definitely take care of business next year.
“Whether that’s in America or the UK.”

Paul confirmed he is willing to reschedule with Fury for a third time, but only if they are willing to front the money for it.
He said: “There’s definitely interest. I think if his team are taking the financial risk and putting the event on, then I’m cool with that.
“I just don’t want to take the risk anymore because I think he’s going to back out, again, most likely.
“But it’s an easy fight for me, like way easier than Anderson. The kid’s a novice, he’s never fought anyone good.
“He’s never even fought an eight-round fight, so he just doesn’t have the experience like I do, which is crazy to say because he’s been doing it his whole life.

Tyson Fury is BANNED from entering US, confirms his Love Island brother Tommy amid ‘links to mob boss Daniel Kinahan’

TOMMY FURY has confirmed he and brother Tyson Fury are banned from entering the United States. The 2019 Love Island star in August was unable to fight celebrity boxing rival Jake Paul in New York amid a US visa issue.

It came after The Sun revealed in June that brother Tyson, the WBC heavyweight world champion, was also denied access to a Stateside flight.
The bans are believed to be in connection to links with alleged Irish mob boss Daniel Kinahan, who in April was hit with sanctions.
Tommy, who along with Tyson has no links to criminality, revealed he is still unable to enter America.
He said on The MMA Hour: “Me and Tyson just can’t get into America at the minute and that’s the way it is.”

The US Treasury imposed sanctions on Kinahan and the US Department of State are also offering rewards of up to $5million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of three members of the criminal family.
A list of over 600 people, all connected to Kinahan, are understood to be banned from entering the US.
It has left Tommy, who was never advised or managed by Kinahan or his former MTK boxing stable, seemingly caught up in it all.
Directly asked about “the Kinahan situation” by host Ariel Helwani, Tommy, 23, said: “I don’t know (what’s happening), that’s what I pay my lawyers for and my legal team every day, they’re sorting it and I said please get this resolved as soon as possible and that’s where I’ve left it at the moment.

“I’m hoping it gets resolved asap because I want to come to America not just for boxing and of course for the big one to get this fight over the line but if it doesn’t get resolved for a long time I can’t speak on that on how long this is going to take.”
Tommy’s next fight is set for November 13 in Dubai against 5-2 American Paul Bamba, 33.
And his hopes of fighting Paul, 25, who beat 47-year-old UFC legend Anderson Silva over the weekend, rely on the YouTuber coming to the UK or Middle East.
Tommy added: “I cannot get into America, even right now, I cannot go to America.
Me and Tyson just can’t get into America at the minute and that’s the way it is.Tommy Fury
“Forget the boxing talk, America’s my favourite place to go: the food, the weather, everything, the people, I love America.
“I love everything to do with America and it’s stopped me from going there.
“In my personal life, me and the missus love going to New York around Christmas – can’t do that.
“We can’t do a number of things now. So boxing’s not all that’s affected.
“But that’s the same right now, I cannot enter America and that’s why the fight didn’t happen.

Joshua, 33, posted the snap to his 14.5million Instagram followers.
For his caption, he wrote: “Same roads took a different path..”
AJ’s team had been locked in talks with Tyson Fury’s over a December 3 bout… although the Gypsy King moved on to Derek Chisora when terms couldn’t be agreed.
Joshua has now confirmed that he won’t fight again until 2023 as he rebuilds his mental health following back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.

He does retain hope, however, that a bout with Fury WILL eventually go ahead.
Joshua said: “It will happen, it will happen. [We’re the] same generation come on.”
Fury set Joshua a number of public deadlines to get his side of the deal done before pulling the plug on what would’ve been one of the most lucrative bouts in the history of the sport.
But Joshua was more than happy to let his rival do all the talking while his team tried to finalise the fight.

Anthony Joshua reveals he won’t box until next year while he battles his mental demons following Tyson Fury fight talks

ANTHONY JOSHUA will not box in December as he battles to rebuild his mental health after back-to-back Oleksandr Usyk losses. The 33-year-old London 2012 Olympic golden boy was dethroned of his WBA, IBF and WBO world titles by the Ukraine mastermind in September 2021.

AJ plans to take some time off to mentally relaxCredit: PA
And he failed with his August rematch – despite a vastly improved performance – and broke down in the aftermath, throwing a couple of his old belts to the floor and crying in the post-fight press conference.
A decade of carrying such huge expectations on his giant shoulders came pouring out of the father-of-one, after he lost his crowns and any chance of his career-long goal of an undisputed decider,
And despite the Watford icon and promoter Eddie Hearn vowing he would fight in December, the powerhouse pin-up has now confirmed – although he is fighting fit – his head is still not fully recovered.
AJ entered talks with undefeated WBC Gypsy King Tyson Fury about a potential December 3 showdown.

But he pulled out of talks when his commercial and sponsorship partnerships clashed with playing second fiddle on the Fury show, planned for the Cardiff stadium.
And he has now confirmed to broadcasters DAZN, that his family has urged him to take an extended break to let his huge heart and mind recover from the punishing losses.
“You saw after my last fight, I swear it tore me apart,” Joshua bravely admitted.
“I had so much riding on it, for me, the British fans, the undisputed fight.

“It just really tore me apart so, from a mental capacity, my close ones are telling me to rest, mentally.
“Physically I am down to ride, I am a warrior, I like this game and I like competing.
“But, from a mental aspect, I think people have really seen it means a lot.”
Bitter nemesis Fury has made a second career out of being a mental health campaigner, after his own breakdown coincided with a 2017 back-dated doping ban.
But Joshua bottled up all of his struggles until his rock-hard facade melted away in the scorching Saudi Arabia desert.
He now faces another rebuilding process and will most likely return to the ring in the Spring of 2023, against a mid-level opponent, to help get him back to winning ways.
But watching seven-year-old son JJ learn to handle defeats has also taught the 6ft 6in ace to roll with the punches.
He said: “Even if I am not fighting, my name is getting called out every day so it’s a mental pressure of being AJ and holding up a reputation, they go hand-in-hand.
“Trying to do this thing – and do it properly – is tough. Boxers are rough and tough but this boxing is a lot of mental pressure.
“I won’t know how I will feel until I am back in there. But the best feeling, that will be good for me, is winning.
“That feeling of losing is not nice. Now I know why my son gets so angry when he loses at anything. I never understood it before.
“Regardless of the belts, the feeling of winning will be amazing again, internally.”
Joshua has now missed out on the two elite heavyweight fights of his era – against fellow Brit Fury and American KO king Deontay Wilder – over money and contracts.

But he still hopes he can prove himself by eventually getting the 34-year-old Morecambe master in the ring, even though Fury insists that ship has now definitely sailed.
“I love doing business, good business and good contracts,” he said. “All that social media stuff is just time-consuming.
“My dance partner, the last geezer I was supposed to fight (Fury), he’s a good dance partner.
“He handles the social media side. I think we’d do good business behind the scenes.
“It will happen, we’re in the same era.
“Just as two competitors, two fighters. He’s definitely someone that’s a fighting man.”
SunSport expects Joshua’s steady comeback trail will lead to a third fight with Dillian Whyte – who he beat a 2015 barnstormer and lost to in a 2009 amateur slugfest.
After an April knockout loss to Fury, the 35-year-old Body Snatcher returns to ring on November 26 – on AJ’s DAZN broadcasters – suggesting the pair are back on a collision course while Fury and Usyk plan a March undisputed bout.
Joshua said: “If you look at the way I have handled my business, I have never had to call anyone out or disrespect anyone to make a fight, or make it bigger.
“I have always just handled my business in my fashion and, in doing that, I have won every belt twice, apart from the WBC.
“I still have targets and goals to achieve but, so far, I feel like my strategy has been working.
“I like fighting good opponents and, as important as it is for me to be a champion, I always wanted to fight the best of my era because there has been this stigma about cherry-picking.
