Tyson Fury’s ex-opponent Otto Wallin calls to be Anthony Joshua’s return opponent instead of Dillian Whyte

His promoter Eddie Hearn has named Wallin along with Whyte as potential opponents for his client to face upon his comeback.
The Swede twice boxed and lost to Joshua in the amateurs and gave Tyson Fury, 34, an almighty scare in their 2019 bout.
Fury was left needing 47 STITCHES after Wallin inflicted a huge cut on the Gypsy King’s eyebrow.
And with Whyte, 34, having already been knocked out by AJ in 2015, Wallin, 31, believes he stands out above the British contender.

He told Rekatochklart: “I think it’s positive that my name is being mentioned but I would like to be the frontrunner.
“I think Whyte is a good style for Joshua, he knocked him out last time, I don’t think much has changed.
“A guy like Usyk is a terrible style for him because Joshua struggles with good boxers and I’m a good boxer and I’m a southpaw so I think I can give Joshua a better fight.
“I’ve proved myself with Fury, I gave him a really tough fight and he handled Whyte much easier than me.

“Judging from that I think I’m a much better fight for Joshua and we fought twice in the amateurs, I lost close decisions in fights that could have gone either way and we’ve sparred before, so we know each other pretty well.
“He knows that I’m a good fighter and I know that he’s a good fighter.
“I think that fight makes a lot of sense especially given that I have a good following in England thanks to the Fury fight and the problems I gave him.
“So, I think people would respect that fight.”

Tyson Fury ‘can’t handle the heat’ of criticism over Chisora trilogy after spat with True Geordie, says Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN accused Tyson Fury of not being able to handle the heat when criticised over his December 3 trilogy fight with Derek Chisora. YouTuber and podcaster True Geordie probed Fury on his third fight with Chisora, the man he twice beat in 2011 and 2014.

And it led to the Gypsy King firing insults at True Geordie – real name Brian Davis.
In response, Hearn told iFL TV: “Fury don’t like it stuck on him in interviews. You know this is the reality, he can’t handle the heat in interviews.
“You’re not going to say anything but once you start questioning him, he goes, ‘Nope, nope, nope.’
“And I thought, you’ve got a lot of people who will just sort of… anyway I’m not going to say anything.”

But Hearn did continue: “What do you want as a punter?
“You want him to get asked serious questions or do you want other interviewers – who I won’t mention – just fluffing around him?
“They know who they are anyway, but that was just a guy saying, you’ve got to understand people are upset about this fight.
“It wasn’t as if he started being personal.”

In the now-viral interview in which the Gypsy King was told that fans didn’t really care about him fighting Chisora, Fury told True Geordie: “I think you’re a t****r. You little t***pot.
“And I won’t be doing any more interviews with you little t***pot, bearded, bald-headed t***er.

Before the rematch in August, his promoter Eddie Hearn sent Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel an invitation to hold talks.
Only now has Finkel responded, leaving the door open to AJ returning against Wilder or Dillian Whyte next year.
Hearn told DAZN: “I actually sent Shelly Finkel an email back in August to talk about a deal and he actually replied to me yesterday.
“I invited them out here to Abu Dhabi this week, they can’t come, but I see the Deontay Wilder fight probably being the second fight for Anthony Joshua in all honesty, but he’s up for fighting anyone.

“If he waits, he may go straight into that fight, it all depends on when he returns, if he returns early in the year, he’ll fight someone else first and if not he’ll go straight into the Whyte or Wilder fight.”
Wilder, 37, knocked out Robert Helenius, 38, in the first round of his comeback bout in October.
Meanwhile, Joshua, 33, was forced to shelve his proposed return in December to take a break from the sport.
Should AJ fight early in 2023, he could do so against lower-level opposition, but waiting a few more months could see him rematch Whyte, 34.

Hearn said: “I think it all depends on when AJ fights.
“If he waits until April or May, he may go straight into the Dillian Whyte fight, if he fights in February, he may have a warm-up fight first.
“He’s coming to Abu Dhabi this week; we are sitting down with him to plan the next step and we’re on the verge of mapping that out.”

Jake, however, ended up trading blows with Mayweather and his bodyguards before his brother at a pre-fight press conference.
And he’d like to settle the score with Money once and for all, telling MMA Fighting: “It would be interesting, still, to actually fight Floyd, though, in an actual professional bout.”
Jake, 25, reckons the grudge match would do big business if Mayweather came out of professional retirement to take the bout.
He continued: “First of all, that’s still a big fight and still a massive, massive draw.

“And if it was an actual pro match, I think people would be super, super interested.”
Despite the huge weight and age discrepancy between the pair, Jake is confident the bout would be sanctioned.
The former Disney star said: “He fought my brother and Logan was weighing 190lbs.
“I could get to 175lbs and Floyd could weigh 165lb and a commission would approve that.”

Mayweather, 45, never came close to tasting defeat in his professional career – which he closed out in August 2017 with a tenth-round TKO victory over UFC star Conor McGregor.
But Jake firmly believes he has what it takes to put the first blemish on the legend’s record.
He said: “I just know that I would win. i would love to take his O.
“And it would be a massive fight as far as pay-per-views are concerned.”

Fury welcomed the opportunity to face the social media sensation, although he doesn’t think it’d be much of a fight.
During an appearance on The MMA Hour, he said: “I have got to say Jake is better than KSI. I think my mother could knock out KSI in a round.
“When I watched him fight those two men, I wasn’t even looking at the two men because they were useless.
“I was looking at him and what he does as a boxer and he can’t fight.

“There are some people in this world that are rough and ready and can fight. He can’t fight.
“You look at KSI and I don’t see a fighting man, I see a pretender who plays FIFA on YouTube or whatever he is famous for.”
Fury, 23, will return to action a week on Sunday on the undercard of Floyd Mayweather’s clash with YouTuber Deji in Dubai.
TNT will likely pursue a grudge match with Paul – which has twice fallen through – should he get through Paul Bamba.

“You will see why I’ve been saying what I’ve been saying.
“These guys can’t fight, it’s like me dragging someone off a white-collar event or someone who has just started amateur boxing and asking them to come in and spar.
“There are levels to this game and people have to understand that, and I know I’m not at any sort of level myself in my career.

Tyson Fury reveals he was left scared after not being able to remember how many times Deontay Wilder knocked him down

TYSON FURY wanted to retire from boxing after forgetting how many times he was sent to the canvas in his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder. The Gypsy King closed the book on his epic rivalry with the former WBC heavyweight champion with a brutal 11th-round knockout in their Sin City showdown last October.

But Fury’s first title defence came at a cost as he was dropped twice by the vicious power puncher, knockdowns he couldn’t recall in the immediate aftermath of the fight.
In his new autobiography, the 34-year-old said: “So while getting my face punched in for a living has put millions of pounds in the bank, a fighter needs to know when their time is up and mine is near.
“Walking away from boxing may be the hardest thing I ever do.
“All I know is that I don’t want to overstay my welcome, ruin my legacy, or die from a big right to the side of the head.

“And believe me, an ending like that has felt worryingly real at times.
“I even experienced short-term memory loss following that bruising encounter with Wilder in 2021, when, in the hours after the win, my head covered in tennis ball-sized lumps, it was impossible to remember how many times I’d gone down.
“Everything was foggy, and the experience frightened me.”
The bruising encounter scared Fury stiff and hastened his plans to walk away from the sport.

He continued: “No way do I want to end up living out my days in a wheelchair, or eating my dinners through a straw.
“After that fight with Wilder, I told my promoter Frank Warren that I planned to retire.”
Fury did eventually hang up his gloves after his brutal sixth-round knockout of Dillian Whyte in April, although he’s since performed a U-turn on that decision.
