Deontay Wilder’s coach offers Derek Chisora advice on how to beat ‘vulnerable’ Tyson Fury in trilogy fight

DEREK CHISORA has been offered advice on how to beat Tyson Fury by Deontay Wilder’s coach. The heavyweight, beaten by Fury in 2011 and 2014, returns on December 3 for a trilogy bout against his old rival at Tottenham’s stadium.

Not too many will have a greater insight on the Gypsy King than Chisora, who was handed a pair of one-sided defeats.
But boxing trainer Malik Scott will come close.
The American, 42, formerly sparred Fury, 34, and was part of Wilder’s team for his trio of bouts against the WBC champion.
Scott was even head trainer for Wilder’s most recent loss to Fury, an 11th-round knockout in October 2021.

The British legend had to twice pick himself up from the canvas to eventually win by KO after three knockdowns of his own.
It leaves Scott well versed on both Fury’s strengths and weaknesses.
He told BT Sport: “You’ve got to take advantage of his vulnerabilities right there and Derek has to do that.
“He can’t make silent agreements when he gets close, he’s got to work his free hand, you’ve got to beat Tyson Fury up on the inside as much as you can.

“What he can’t do, is get close and allow Tyson to hold him. Tyson Fury, when he is in control, is very vulnerable.”
Wilder, 37, could remarkably work his way into a FOURTH fight with Fury after being ordered into a WBC final eliminator bout.
He is set to face Andy Ruiz Jr, 33, for the right to challenge for Fury’s belt, potentially setting up yet another rematch.
Scott said: “I’m very interested in the Fury 4 fight four Deontay.”

Promoter Eddie Hearn has already said the winner will be rewarded with a mega-money payday against the returning AJ next year.
It leaves it all to play for, especially for outsider Franklin, who Hearn told: “If you win this fight, you’re getting the Anthony Joshua fight.
“AJ wants to fight Dillian Whyte. Maybe that’s one for the future.
“But for you to come over as an American to beat a Brit in London, you will get that fight, and you will make millions of dollars.

“So all you’ve got to do is go through this guy to make millions of dollars.”
Franklin, 29, cooly responded: “I’ll worry about that after I get this win.”
Whyte, 34, beat Joshua, 33, in their 2009 amateur barnburner but was knocked out in their rematch six years later as professionals.
AJ, coming off consecutive losses to 35-year-old star Oleksandr Usyk, is taking time out of the ring to mentally recover from defeat.

Whereas Whyte is already on the comeback trail following his recent knockout blow at the hands of WBC champion Tyson Fury, 34, in April.
A second straight loss could prove disastrous for Brixton’s Body Snatcher, but he is hungry for redemption.
Whyte said: “There’s no pressure on me. I’m a wounded lion at the minute. So that’s why these guys are jumping and yapping and yapping.
“What they forget is, I may be wounded, but I’m still a lion. I’m still a mother f***ing predator.
“That’s what a lion knows to do, to kill. Unless he loses his teeth. But my teeth are still in. See there. I’m always ready to kill.”

Tommy Fury’s dad taking off his shirt and calling out Jake Paul was a circus but I’m not knocking it, says Eddie Hearn

EDDIE HEARN says John Fury taking off his shirt and calling out Jake Paul was a circus – but admitted he cannot knock it. Paul was a special guest commentator at the Coca-Cola Arena this month as Fury boxed late replacement Rolly Lambert in an exhibition.
Topless John Fury offering to fight Jake Paul
The American heckled from ringside and the two later clashed post-fight with security having to restrain them as their rivalry hit new heights.
Fury’s dad John at one point even ripped off his top and offered to fight Paul bare-knuckle in the ring.
But as cringe as the viral moment may have been, Hearn can appreciate promotional gold when he sees it.
He told Matchroom’s YouTube channel: “I mean John Fury – it’s a circus.

“But that’s what it’s supposed to be, I’m not knocking it for being a circus. You know, taking his shirt off, ‘Hold me back.’”
The celebrity boxing rivals have agreed to reschedule their grudge match once more, with talks currently ongoing.
Fury has twice pulled out of fighting Paul, after suffering a rib injury last December and US visa issues in August.
His Stateside travel restriction still persists today, leaving Paul’s side adamant the fight must take place in the UK.

Most Valuable Promotions tweeted: “Has to be Manchester or London.
“Jake Paul will not allow travel to be an excuse for this fight to not happen.”
Paul, 25, most recently beat UFC legend Anderson Silva, 47, in October, the biggest win in his 6-0 career.
Meanwhile Fury, 23, returned this month in his last-minute exhibition against substitute Lambert, 33.

After he cruised past six rounds, the two traded words and an agreement to fight in 2023 was struck.
Hearn commented: “I’d like to see Jake Paul come out of that world a little bit.
“I think the Jake Paul – Tommy Fury fight is an interesting fight, I like what Jake Paul has done.

And the Gypsy King opened up on the physical wear and tear on his body after years of rough and tumble in the ring.
Fury said on  BT Sport’s Chatterbox: “I’m like an old banger, Ford Escort with 250,000 miles on the clock.

Russian Alexander Povetkin is retired from boxing
But he left his homeland in the summer to train for his rematch with Anthony Joshua, 33, which he won on points in August.
Usyk, 35, has since returned to his family in the war-torn country and shelved a unification bout with Tyson Fury, 34, after doing so.
The heavyweight, who branded Vladimir Putin “very weak”, was quizzed on fighting Russians.
In response, he told Polish site Interia: “What’s this for? I’ve beaten them so many times!”

In his professional career, Usyk has only beaten two opponents from Russia but made a career out of it during his amateur reign.
Povetkin, 43, retired from boxing in June 2021 after being knocked out in his rematch with Dillian Whyte, 34.
Asked about a potential fight, Usyk said: “Well, I would have done that. I’d have no choice but to slap him hard.”

“For me, boxing is just a sport, and for those who organize it, it’s big business. There are two boxers in the ring. Their job is to box.
“Everything else is organizers, sponsors and many other factors to be considered.
“As soon as we establish everything, we will come to an agreement, we will sign official documents – we will work.”

Warren emotionally wrote: “I and everyone at Queensberry Promotions are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former British heavyweight title challenger Mark Potter.
“Mark was a great fighter and an even bigger character who was involved in many entertaining fights over the years and was a hugely popular face around the fight scene, particularly in the London area.
“Mark fought some great fights during his career and was as brave as they come, but sadly he succumbed to one opponent that abides by and respects no rules at all.
“We send our heartfelt sympathies to Mark’s family and friends.

“We will honour his memory and pay tribute to him next weekend when we will observe boxing’s traditional ten bells at the O2 Arena in London – a city where he enjoyed so many good nights and lived his life to the full.
“Mark was a fighter right to the end and never stopped punching — may he rest in peace.”
Fellow promoter Eddie Hearn also tweeted: “Rest in Peace Mark Potter.”
Olympic gold medallist Audley Harrison added: “RIP Mark & condolences to his family & friends.

He would go on to have spells in MMA and kickboxing following his career in the ring and most-recently worked as a personal trainer.
Late last year, Potter was diagnosed with stage four cancer of the stomach and bone.
Potter revealed his life changed when he started to experience numbness in his calves, which he initially thought was the result of a pinched nerve due to his active lifestyle.
The numbness continued to spread and Mark visited his GP, who told him he may only have another 18 months to live.
In March 2022, Potter revealed he was still in fighting fit shape.
He claimed: “[At the time of diagnosis] in November I was almost in fighting shape, I could run six kilometres in 30 minutes.
“I was squatting 200kg for six reps regularly, and deadlifting 200 for 10 reps.”

    Potter leaves behind wife Hannah.
Earlier this year, a distraught Hannah, 46, claimed: “When they told us the diagnosis, I had a complete meltdown.
“He has tumours in his stomach that spread to his spine, which caused the numbness.
“When he said his calf was feeling really weird, I thought it must be a pinched nerve or something.
“He was regularly doing squats and deadlifts, so we just assumed it was down to that.
“He had said to me he was feeling the best he had done in months.”

Tyson Fury pushed me and I twisted two ligaments in my foot in ‘massive breach’ of rules, claims Dillian Whyte

DILLIAN WHYTE claimed he twisted two ligaments in his foot after Tyson Fury “pushed” him over. Whyte was knocked out by the WBC champion in April following a brutal right uppercut in round six.

But Fury, 34, clearly shoved the challenger after the punch connected but referee Mark Lyson waved off the contest.
Whyte, 34, still protests that he should have been given until the count of ten to try and recover and that he was illegally pushed down.
He told Matchroom Boxing: “I think the fight obviously got stopped too early you know, I got hit with a good shot. It’s boxing, you get hurt.
“I’ve been down in fights before and obviously you get back up and obviously got hit with a good shot, pushed me over.

“When he pushed me over I ended up f***ing twisting two ligaments in my foot.”
Whyte was halted at the count of eight as he got to his feet dazed and confused while stumbling towards ref Lyson.
But per the rules, pushing an opponent is considered an illegal move, categorised alongside kicking, headbutting and biting.
It leaves Whyte, who returns next Saturday against 29-year-old Jermaine Franklin, feeling hard done by.
