Tyson Fury breaks the ‘Versace robe curse’ with Deontay Wilder KO after Conor McGregor and Billy Joe Saunders losses

TYSON FURY broke the ‘Versace robe curse’ after defeating Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas.Boxing fans had feared the Gypsy King would lose his undefeated record after daring to wear a custom-made Versace robe.
Tyson Fury broke the so-called Versace curse by beating Deontay Wilder
The Gypsy King wore a yellow Versace outfit in May
After all, Conor McGregor lost to Floyd Mayweather after donning a similar outfit.
And Billy Joe Saunders, a close friend of Fury, also suffered the same fate when he wore a Versace robe ahead of his bout with Canelo Alvarez earlier this year.
Those results meant the clothing item carried a bit of a curse – but not for Fury.
The Brit was troubled by Wilder in their third fight, with fans claiming a slow count stopped him from losing in the fourth round.
But Fury recovered to dominate Wilder before landing an 11th round knockout to retain his WBC world title and lift the Versace curse.
Fury was as fearless in the ring as he was out of it – and he clearly did not believe in the so-called curse.

In May he donned a brightly coloured Versace gown in preparation to meet Wilder in July – raising questions over whether he would be the next victim of the jinx.
But it seems it will take a lot more than that to defeat the heavyweight champion – even a huge right hand from Wilder was not enough to keep Fury down for long.
In September Fury told Gary Neville that he did not think he would ever be beaten.
And after winning despite not being at his best against Wilder – which he admitted himself – it is difficult to see him losing his undefeated record.

Deontay Wilder fans insist he was ‘robbed’ in Tyson Fury loss as they claim count was slow after Gyspy King knocked down

But fans of the American have claimed Fury was given a slow count.
It is not the first time such accusations have been made, with some suggesting the Brit received a slow count when he miraculously recovered from a 12th-round knockdown in the pair’s first meeting.
One video posted online appears to show Fury fall to the canvas and get up ten seconds later – with the referee only counting up to seven seconds in that period.
Fury took time to compose himself, lying flat on the ring, before getting back up.
Just a few seconds later he was caught again by Wilder and found himself needing to beat the count a second time.
He managed to do so and the bell intervened before Wilder was able to land a killer blow.

After that it was mostly one-way traffic with Wilder barely holding on, but his fans believe he was robbed of a fourth-round knockout victory.
One of his supporters tweeted: “Fury down for 11 seconds?? Ref has the count at 7??? Wilder robbed once again.”
Another added in agreement: “If the ref didn’t give Fury 10-year count it would be a different story.”
A third said: “I understand Wilder got outboxed but are we all gonna ignore Fury’s 12 count. Ref says five, stops counting for three seconds, then says six.”

And according to ESPN+, the brave and resilient former WBC champion was transported to a Las Vegas hospital for precautionary reasons.
However, the 35-year-old was not kept in overnight, according to boxing journalist Dan Rafael.
He tweeted: “Was texting with Wilder’s manager Shelly Finkel.
“Said Deontay is OK and won’t be staying overnight at the hospital.”
Wilder was understandably absent at the post-fight press conference.
But it was there Fury, topless with his WBC and Ring Magazine belts, voiced his concern for Wilder.

He said: “Wilder is a tough guy with a big heart to keep going, I think a doctor got in the ring and checked him.
“He took a lot of punishment and that puts miles on the clock – but so did I.”
Wilder was dropped in round three and barely survived to make it to the corner.
As things looked to be heading towards an early night for Fury it was his turn to dramatically pick himself up from the canvas, but not once, twice.
The Gypsy King, 33, then took control down the stretch and a big right hand over the top had Wilder again on the floor in the tenth.
And in the following round Fury, who had won the rematch 20 months prior, closed the show and their rivalry with a devastating KO.

He brutally knocked the American out in round 11 – after twice having to pick himself up from the floor in round four.
Fury, 33, scored a total of three knockdowns before dramatically closing the show.
Afterwards, YouTube star Paul, 24, tweeted: “I think Tyson Fury might have finally earned the chance to fight me.”
Fury’s little brother Tommy, 22, was ringside for the stunning performance but revealed beforehand talks to fight Paul are intensifying.
He said on BT Box Office: “Things are looking good, I can’t say too much as I leave that up to my lawyers.

That followed after knockouts over YouTube rival ‘AnEsonGib, ex-NBA star Nate Robinson and retired UFC welterweight Ben Askren, both 37.
Fury is 7-0 with his most last win on Paul’s undercard, against the social media sensation’s sparring partner Anthony Taylor, 32.
Afterwards, the pair began talks to fight but hit a standstill over the purse.
Paul publicly offered Fury, who featured on reality TV show Love Island, $1million, plus what SunSport understands to be bonuses on pay-per-view sales.

He then followed it up by wagering an extra $500,000 if he loses the fight.
But if Fury lost, he would have to legally change his name to ‘Tommy Fumbles’ for a year.
That bet was accepted by the British light-heavyweight, who said: “Do we have a deal?
“Get that sent over to my lawyers right now and we’ll get that looked over and sorted. There’s not a chance in hell you’re winning this fight.
“You’re leaving on a stretcher, you’re getting knocked spark out, and you know it. Get it over to me now.”

Once he composed himself he shared a kiss with wife Paris in the ring before conducting his post-fight interviews.
Fury then took the microphone and belted out his own rendition of ‘Walking in Memphis’ – though changed it to ‘Walking in Vegas’ given the location of the fight.

It has become something of a tradition for the Gypsy King to sing a classic American ballad after claiming victory in the U.S. having sung ‘American Pie’ after his first bout with Wilder.
Vegas and the T-Mobile Arena was a fitting venue for the dramatic affair, with Fury landing the first blow when he sent Wilder to the canvas in the third.
But the Brit had to overcome some very nervy moments before securing victory.
Fury experienced every kind of emotion – as did Shaquille O’Neal the Las Vegas crowd – but said he could sense victory once he first sent Wilder down.

Tyson Fury brands Deontay Wilder an ‘idiot’ and a ‘sore loser’ after he was SNUBBED by rival following KO win

TYSON FURY hit out at ‘sore loser’ Deontay Wilder for being an ‘idiot’ after he was snubbed post-fight by his bitter rival.Britain’s 33-year-old Gypsy King won one of the most iconic boxing bouts imaginable, surviving two knockdowns and a handful of further scares, to settle the WBC world title trilogy in the penultimate round.

He left his corner – and the specially designed stool he sat on between rounds with Wilder’s face emblazoned on it – to congratulate and thank the fellow warrior he had done 30 brilliant rounds with.
But the battered and bruised American, 35 – who had restored so much of his reputation with the performance, after accusing Fury of cheating his way to the February 2020 win – blew his chance to turn the iconic rivalry into a fantastic fighting friendship.
And the two God-fearing men – with 14 children between them – no looked destined to be bitter enemies.
“I said, ‘Well done.’ And he said, ‘I don’t wanna show any sportsmanship or respect.’ I said, ‘No problem.'”
“I was very surprised by that but he’s a sore loser, an idiot.
“To be a top fighting man, you’ve got to show guts and respect and he couldn’t do it tonight. And that’s it.
“He couldn’t do it so I’ll pray for him. I’m just thankful we all got out the fight in one piece and go home to our lovely families.”

Despite the puddles of blood and pounds of flesh they have slashed and bashed out of each other over three years, Fury genuinely wanted to settle things respectfully.
“Wilder is a top fighter, he gave me a real run for my money tonight,” Fury somehow found the breath to say.
“It was a great fight tonight, worthy of any trilogy in the sport. I always said I am the best in the world and he is second.
“But I went over to show love and respect and he didn’t want it to so I will pray for him.
“Wilder has no lover for me because I have beaten him three times.
“But I am a sportsman and I went over to him to show him some love and respect and he did not want to give it back.
“That’s his problem, I will pray for him and hopefully God will soften his heart.”
Fury dropped Wilder in the third but then suffered two sickening knockdowns in the fifth.
In the tenth Fury equalised as he folded Wilder into the canvas again and he ended it violently in the next session – with uppercuts and right hand leaving no need for a final count.
