Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder trilogy fight confirmed for October after coronavirus KOd original date

TYSON FURY and Deontay Wilder’s world title trilogy clash has been rescheduled for October 9.The WBC Gypsy King had to cancel the original July 24 date after he allegedly caught Covid-19.

The undefeated 32-year-old star has not confirmed or commented on his health and has been pictured with fans enjoying Sin City.
And the 6ft 9in ace managed to catch enough breath to threatened the American with an even bigger battering than the February 2020 masterclass he dished out to the Bronze Bomber.
“I wanted nothing more than to smash the big dosser on July 24, but I guess the beating will have to wait,” Fury said.
“Make no mistake, I will be back and better than ever. We will fight Oct. 9, and I will knock him spark out!”
Fury had a December 5 fight in London arranged that was cancelled when he could not agree on an opponent with his broadcasters on both sides of the Pond.
So he will have been out of the ring for 19 months when finally returns to defend his crown.
But promoter Frank Warren reckons all the extra training time will have made his star attraction an even more dominant force.
“I’m glad that we could all agree a new date quickly for Tyson to defend his title”, Warren said.

“Tyson is a fighting man and I know how frustrated he is that he can’t compete this month.
“It’s such a shame to lose a fight of this magnitude to Covid.
“That said, the extra time he gets to prepare is just going to ensure he’s bigger and better than ever before.
“I’ve never been more certain that Tyson is going to deliver a spectacular performance and remain the number one Heavyweight on the planet!”

Deontay Wilder’s trainer predicts he will KO Tyson Fury inside five rounds as he is ‘greater’ than Brit

According to talkSPORT’s Michael Benson, the trainer told the press: “I consider Fury a great boxer, Wilder is just greater.”
Many will be surprised by Scott’s comments after Fury, 32, outclassed Wilder, 35, in their December 2018 draw before stopping him 14 months later.
The former heavyweight champ hired Scott in June to get him perfect shape for the trilogy fight, calling him a ‘genius’.
Wilder said: “Malik is my true brother. Even before me and Malik fought, we were very close.
“Throughout our careers we have always talked. I always wanted to bring him in because of his genius and his mindset as a fighter.
“He’s a genius in his mind, he knows what to do, but he just didn’t have the athletic body to be able to perform what’s in his head.
“I am the athlete – with instructions and teachings I am able to perform what he thinks and what he strategies.”

Scott last fought professionally in November 2016, finishing with a 38-3-1 record.
The 40-year-old got close to challenging for a heavyweight title, suffering defeats to big-name stars Derek Chisora, Luis Ortiz and Wilder.
The Bronze Bomber has also received praise from ex-cruiserweight Tony Bellow, who claims Wilder is ‘biggest punching heavyweight since Mike Tyson’.

The upcoming bout is arguably the American’s biggest to date, with ex-promoter Lou DiBella claiming Wilder’s ‘career is on the line’.
But the Gypsy King remains the favourite and has been mocking his opponent by training in his WBC belt.
And former welterweight Paulie Malignaggi has backed Fury to run through Wilder like an ’18-wheeler’ in Las Vegas.

Deontay Wilder’s ex-trainer Mark Breland hits back at dethroned champ’s accusations over Tyson Fury loss

DEONTAY WILDER’S ex-trainer Mark Breland has fired back at the former champion’s accusations that he was pulled out too early in his defeat to Tyson Fury.
The Bronze Bomber, 35, has caused a stir in the heavyweight world after accusing Fury of cheating by using a weight in his glove for the Las Vegas battle in February.

Wilder also claims his water was spiked before the bout, saying he had ‘no control’ over his body.
And the American added that Breland pulled him out too early from the clash, leading to the cornerman’s exit from Wilder’s team.
But Breland has taken to social media to have his say on the situation.
He wrote: “Anyone who really knows me, knows I wouldn’t go back and forth with anybody UNLESS it’s in the ring!

“I’ve been boxing since I was eight years old. So I didn’t give a big portion of my life to this sport, I DEDICATED MY ENTIRE LIFE TO THIS SPORT!
“But I have never seen the things I’m seeing know in ALL of those years!
“I’m only on social media because of my girl. We went somewhere and there was a picture of me and she said, ‘this is one of the reasons you need social media in this day and time’.
“She said there are people who have deep admiration for you and social media is a way to give them some access to you.

“She asks me all the time am I tired of it? Do I want to go back to life without it?
“I always say no because the amount of support, love and gratitude I get lets me know all the hard work I put into my career was worth it!
“I looked at and ready thousands of videos, texts and comments and I would put up a thousand of them if I could because so many of them was 100 but I can’t.
“But I d have a file for ALL of them that moved me. I THANK ALL OF YOU FOR YOUR WORDS!
“Let me add this last. The Twitter  pix that’s out there is not from me.
“I speak and there’s nothing funny about this show that’s going on! Stay well and I’m still standing!”

Deontay Wilder in ‘amazing physical shape’ ahead of Tyson Fury trilogy fight, says his protege Raphael Akpejiori

DEONTAY WILDER is in ‘amazing physical shape’ ahead of a third fight with Tyson Fury, according to his protege Raphael Akpejiori.
The Bronze Bomber was beaten up by Fury, 32, in their second fight in February but is blitzing himself in the gym ahead of the scheduled trilogy clash in December.

Nigerian Raphael Akpejiori has been guided by Deontay Wilder

Wilder, 34, has been mentoring Nigerian heavyweight prospect Akpejiori and he could spar the 29-year-old in preparation for The Gypsy King.
The former WBC champ has upped his training regime in Miami.
He is being looked after by the same coach who drills former University of Miami basketball and American football star Akpejiori.
Akpejiori told Sky Sports: “Based on what I know, the only person that can beat Deontay right now, is Deontay.

“He will beat Fury if he sticks to the game plan from his coaching staff, and I know that he has all the physical tools.
“Right now he is in amazing physical shape, that I can tell you for sure.
“You will see a completely different Deontay, mentally and physically in the ring, when that bell rings again for that third fight. That I can tell you.
Wilder surrendered his WBC crown after suffering a seventh-round stoppage against Fury in Las Vegas.

His corner controversially threw in the towel after Wilder was dropped twice by the man from Morecambe.
Many thought Fury had done enough to win the first fight in December 2018 on points but the judges ruled it a draw after The Gypsy King miraculously got off the canvas in the 12th round.
He made sure it didn’t go the distance second time round but Wilder’s sparring parter has since claimed The Bronze Bomber carried a bicep injury into the fight.
But Akpejiori denied he is struggling with his physical condition and added: “You’re going to have to wait for Deontay to break it down and address those rumours.
“Listen, I can tell you from my conversations with Deontay that he was ready to fight Tyson Fury in July.
“The only reason why he didn’t fight Tyson Fury in July, was because the fight was moved due to the coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown that came after that.
“He does the same workouts that we’ve been doing. I don’t know how somebody can be injured and do all that. It’s really hard stuff, I can tell you that for sure.”

The Alabama fighter immediately opted to take up his rematch clause against Fury but Covid-19 put pay to chances of getting a fight on this summer.
Yet promoter Bob Arum is ‘optimistic’ the two will fight on December 19 in front of 10,000-15,000 fans in the 65,000 capacity new Raiders Stadium in the US.
Akpejiori made it clear Wilder – who has advised him since 2017 – is still ‘very hungry’ to reclaim his belts from Englishman Fury.
He said: “Oh yeah, he definitely is. You can really tell that’s all he’s thinking about, from just talking.
“We talk about a whole lot of other things, personal stuff, boxing promotional stuff.
“But concerning fighting Tyson Fury, he’s extremely confident. He’s very excited about that third fight.
“I can tell you for sure that he’s very hungry, and he’s trying to get back into the ring as soon as possible.
“He’s in great spirits, excited to get back to fight Tyson Fury.”

Tyson Fury warned he has ‘no escape’ from fighting Dillian Whyte after Deontay Wilder as Eddie Hearn hails WBC ruling

TYSON FURY has been warned he has “no escape” from fighting Dillian Whyte if he beats Deontay Wilder.
Fury, 31, who won the WBC title in February, is contracted to an immediate rematch against Wilder, 34.

But the WBC confirmed after the trilogy bout – which faces being moved from December to early 2021 – the winner must face 32-year-old Whyte.
It further delays a super-fight between Fury and Anthony Joshua, 30, but promoter Eddie Hearn insists Whyte takes priority.
Hearn told talkSPORT: “We knew it but it’s always nice to get confirmation from the WBC.
“Every time they confirm it in writing gives us more clout moving forward. It’s fantastic for Dillian Whyte.

    3

“He still has to get past Alexander Povetkin on August 22, but if he does that he will have to fight the winner of Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder very early next year.
“Of course, we want the winner of that to go on to fight Anthony Joshua in the summer of next year for the undisputed.
“Big news for Dillian Whyte and no escape for Tyson Fury or Deontay Wilder, as confirmed by the WBC.”
Whyte has been the WBC’s No1 ranked challenger since 2017, but only last year earned his spot as mandatory after beating Oscar Rivas.

However, his status was revoked after an ‘adverse finding’ was found in his pre-fight drug test, and the WBC instead handed Fury a shot at Wilder’s belt.
Whyte was eventually cleared of any doping violations by United Kingdom Anti-Doping, but could only watch as the Gypsy King won the belt.
He had been promised a shot at the title by February next year, but Fury’s promoter Bob Arum revealed the Wilder trilogy could carry over to that date.
