Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, Carlos Tevez… just three world footballing legends to be born on star-studded February 5

IF you should happen to have a child born on February 5, go out and buy them a football and a pair of boots immediately…
Why’s that you ask? Well, there is a pretty good chance they will go on to become one of the best footballers on the planet, that’s why.

Neymar joins CR7 in being born on February 5 in a freakish coincidenceCredit: Splash News

If you don’t believe me, just check out a list of some of the names to be born on the fifth day of the second month…
For starters, how about Juventus and Portugal superstar Cristiano Ronaldo?
The former Manchester United man, 36 today, has won almost everything there is to win in football – the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, the Champions League, European Championship, the Ballon d’Or, you name it, he’s won it.
All that to go with a string of stunning partners, a host of top cars, a modelling career and luxury homes all over the planet – CR7 has done pretty well for himself.

Then there’s Paris Saint-Germain and Brazil wiz Neymar – who cost a cool £198million – another to born on February 5 and is 29 today.
But it’s not just those two – Carlos Tevez was also born on February 5 and will celebrate his 37th birthday back in his native Argentina.
The Argentine star has played for Manchester City, Manchester United and Juventus in his distinguished career before becoming the highest-paid player of all time, taking home £615,000-a-week in China.

    Stars born on February 5

However, after a dud spell in the Chinese Super League, Tevez is back at boyhood club Boca Juniors as he brings the curtain down on his long career.

That’s already three of the best players on the planet, but there are also stars from years gone by making the list, such as Gheorghe Hagi.
Likened to a certain Argentinian ace, Hagi was given the nickname “The Maradona of the Carpathians” for his skill.
Elsewhere a host of current and ex-Premier League also share the February 5 birthday.
Sheffield Wednesday striker Jordan Rhodes, 31, and ex-Manchester United ace Adnan Januzaj, 26, were also born on that day.
Man City’s 24-year-old wonderkid Patrick Roberts – on-loan at Derby – and Sheffield United star Billy Sharp, 35, are just two more.

Former Tottenham man Vedran Corluka, 35, and ex-Argentina international Rodrigo Palacio, 39, are just two others to make the list, along with former Arsenal ace Giovanni van Bronckhorst, who turns 46 today.
But the freaky footballing date doesn’t just relate to players…
West Ham co-owner David Sullivan, 84, and 52-year-old actor Michael Sheen, who played Brian Clough in the film The Damned United, were also born on February 5… the same as ex-England boss Sven-Goran Eriksson, 73.
But what kind of sorcery could possibly hand people born on February 5 this fate?

Well, world-renowned astrologer Shelley von Strunckel claimed this is no mere coincidence.
She claimed: “Aquarians are geniuses, they think on their feet. They make a decision quicker than anyone else.”
So there you have it. It’s a done deal: If you’re born on February 5, you’ll become a star…

PSG star Neymar hints he is not interested in Premier League transfer because ‘there’s a lot of physical contact’

NEYMAR has hinted that the Premier League does not interest him – having been turned off by the game’s physicality.
Few English teams have ever been linked with the Paris Saint-Germain winger.

Neymar has provided his take on the Premier LeagueCredit: AP:Associated Press

And it appears any interested party would have a lot of work to do to convince him of a move to the Premier League.
Neymar told the Mail: “I do not get to watch a lot of the Premier League.
“But I have heard that there’s a lot of physical contact involved in the game.
“But the French league also has too much physical contact!”

Neymar has enjoyed plenty of success against English teams in a handful of Champions League encounters.
In six meetings with Manchester City, the winger has won five times with a pair of wins over Arsenal and lone victories against Liverpool and Manchester United.

But the 28-year-old was left furious with the rough treatment doled out to him by Scott McTominay in his most recent trip to the British Isles.

Following years of rumours about a return to Barcelona, Neymar is reportedly nearing a new contract agreement with PSG.
There are fears top French clubs will have to sell star players amid a financial crisis in TV rights money.
But Les Parisiens are keen to press on after reaching last year’s Champions League final, with Neymar hungry to go all the way this time around.

I want to win the Champions League with PSG – and the World Cup with Brazil national team.
    Neymar

Kylian Mbappe recently referred to him as the ‘best in the world’ and a World Cup crown is also on his agenda.
Neymar continued: “I want to win the Champions League with PSG – and the World Cup with Brazil.
“Off the pitch… I think that 2020 changed our hopes and expectations, right?
“The pandemic forced us to think differently, so I think that I’d really like to be able to hug everyone like we used to do before all of this happened.”

Di Maria claims there is ‘big chance’ PSG will sign Lionel Messi in transfer sparking fury from Barcelona boss Koeman

ANGEL DI MARIA claims there is a ‘big chance’ Paris Saint-Germain will sign Lionel Messi this summer.
But the winger’s comments sparked fury from Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman, who branded them ‘disrespectful’.

Messi, 33, is out of contract this summer and expected to leave the Nou Camp on a free transfer.
He tried and failed to quit last year before being made to stay put despite strong links with Manchester City.
But Messi apparently remains intent on leaving after details of his mega-contract were leaked to the public.
Messi has since reportedly threatened to sue five Barcelona insiders he believes responsible.

And it seems there is no way back for Nou Camp chiefs as they look to rectify the situation.
French giants PSG have now emerged as the leading contender for Messi, who has scored 650 goals in 756 games for Barca.
Mauricio Pochettino looks set to keep hold of star duo Neymar and Kylian Mbappe on new long-term contracts.
And he wants Messi to join them in a fearsome three-man attack as PSG and Barcelona prepare to face each other in the Champions League later this month.

Lionel Messi has the most-lucrative contract in all of sport – miles ahead of second-placed Patrick Mahomes

Argentina teammate Angel Di Maria knows Messi well and has already been at PSG for five-and-a-half years.
Di Maria now claims Messi looks set to join him in the French capital – after his wife urged him to stay as PSG’s COOK if that’s what it takes for the pair to be together at club level.
Di Maria said: “There’s a big chance (of Messi coming). We have to be calm and let things develop.”
But his comments enraged Barcelona boss Koeman, who hit out at Di Maria in the wake of yesterday’s nervy 5-3 Copa del Rey quarter-final win at Granada.
Koeman fumed: “It’s disrespectful. It’s wrong to say such a thing and only heats up the Champions League game even more.
“It’s not fair. I don’t think it’s respectful towards Barcelona to talk about a player of ours.
“They talk about Leo a lot. He’s a Barcelona player, and we have a tie to play against them.”

Sacked PSG star Jese Rodriguez reveals Kylian Mbappe ‘really wants to go to Real Madrid’ thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo

JESE RODRIGUEZ has revealed that his former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Kylian Mbappe really wants to go to Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old, who was sacked by PSG in December, claimed the Frenchman is keen to follow in Cristiano Ronaldo’s footsteps.

Los Blancos have made Mbappe their No1 transfer target in the summer but can’t afford the £140million price-tag.
The World Cup winner’s contract with PSG expires in the summer of 2022 and talks over a new deal are in progress.
But his former Ligue 1 teammate Rodriguez has admitted that he sees the forward ending up at Madrid.
Mbappe himself has revealed in the past that Juventus superstar Ronaldo is his idol and he used to have posters of CR7 in his childhood bedroom.

Jese told Spanish outlet AS: “He really wants to go to Real Madrid.
“His idol has always been Cristiano [Ronaldo]. He loves Madrid and I’m sure he’ll play there one day.”
Jese meanwhile left PSG last year following a sex scandal where he was accused of cheating on his partner Aurah Ruiz.
It has been claimed that club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi grew tired of the Spaniard’s actions off the pitch, and cut him loose six months early.

Yet he is hoping to revive his career at Las Palmas after returning to the Canary Islands hotspot on a short-term deal until the end of the season.
The former Real Madrid ace spent the second half of the 2016-17 campaign on loan at the club having failed to impress at PSG.
Commenting on the deal, Las Palmas president Miguel Angel Ramirez revealed that Jese rejected a move to Saudi Arabia to rejoin his side.
He said: “Jese is a player of a stature and international prestige, there is his record.

“Jese is very excited and he will not miss the opportunity that Las Palmas is going to give him in these months.”

Andre Villas-Boas resigned as Marseille boss in a press conference

Portuguese gaffer Villas-Boas – who also previously managed Spurs – publicly offered his resignation after criticising the Ligue 1 outfit for signing Celtic’s Olivier Ntcham.
The 43-year-old let it be known that he didn’t want to bring in midfielder  but the club signed him anyway.
And Marseille quickly released a statement relieving him of his duties.
They also did not mess around when it came to sourcing a replacement with club chiefs keen on Sarri, 62, according to Sky Sports News.

But the wily old Italian is said to have rejected their initial advance.
Sarri reportedly does not want to return to management midway through a season.
And although there is a chance Les Olympiens may try again, it appears unlikely he will be tempted to move to the Stade Veledrome right away.
Villas-Boas’ dramatic departure came just days after Marseille supporters stormed the club’s Robert Louis-Dreyfus Centre training ground following their awful run of form.

“I’m waiting for a response from management, and if it’s no [to resignation], we’ll keep going.
“I don’t want any money, I just want to leave. I want to be clear with you. I don’t want anything from Marseille or Frank [McCourt].
“I gave my opinion for the replacement of Morgan Sanson but I can not accept, as a professional, that [not being informed].
“This has nothing to do with the weekend incidents. It’s just in relation to what I want on the sporting aspects and which was not understood.

Neymar close to signing new four-year PSG contract keeping him at club until he’s 33 and ENDING Barcelona transfer talk

NEYMAR is reportedly close to signing a new four-year Paris Saint-Germain contract.
Get French Football News claims the Brazilian forward, 28, is ready to commit his long-term future to the French giants despite being linked with a return to Barcelona.

Neymar, 28, is ready to extend his PSG stay on a new four-year contractCredit: AP:Associated Press

Neymar swapped the Spaniards for PSG in 2017, setting a new world record transfer fee of £200million with a contract reportedly worth over £500,000 a week.
Despite scoring 83 goals in 101 games, his time in Paris has been blighted by injury problems and constant speculation over his future.
Barcelona have made no secret of their desire to bring Neymar back to the Nou Camp in recent summers.
And talk intensified after he entered the final 18 months of his PSG contract.

But Neymar is now set to extend his deal from 2022 to 2026.
That would see him remain at PSG until he was 33 years old, effectively committing himself for the remainder of his top level career.
Indeed, Neymar revealed on Monday that he was comfortable in Paris under Mauricio Pochettino and had no plans to leave.
He said: “I am happy today, truly happy. Things have changed a lot, I can’t explain why.

“But today I am feeling good. I have adapted, I am more calm and I am more happy. I want to stay at PSG.”
There have also been doubts over Kylian Mbappe’s PSG future, with his deal also expiring in 2022.
Real Madrid are known to be big fans, while boss Pochettino remains hopeful he will stay.
But earlier today the World Cup winner hailed Neymar as the best in the world, hinting that he too will pen a new deal.
Mbappe said: “I’ve always thought that great players were made to play together, and that’s clear between us two.
“Our roles were established when I arrived in Paris. Neymar is the centre of the project and I’m here to help him.
“Neymar knows how to do everything, he’s the best in the world.
“When he arrived in Paris, we realised everything he could do. He has an instinct that makes him know how to do everything straight away.”

And the club have now released a statement confirming that AVB has been relieved of his duties.
The 43-year-old let it be known that he didn’t want to bring in midfielder Olivier Ntcham from Celtic, though the French outfit signed him anyway.
He claims that he told the club who he wanted to be signed as a replacement for Morgan Sanson who left to join Aston Villa, but failed to hear back.
Villas-Boas also declared he had no say in the loan departure of Nemanja Radonjic to Hertha Berlin.

His shock offer to walk away comes just days after Marseille supporters stormed the club’s Robert Louis-Dreyfus Centre training ground following their awful run of form.
The ex-Porto manager told reporters: “I have resigned because I don’t agree with the sporting policy of the club.
“I said no to the signing of Olivier Ntcham. He wasn’t on our list. I had nothing to do with this decision.

Following the announcement, a statement from Marseille said: “The Olympique de Marseille announces the dismissal of André Villas-Boas.
“This protective decision has become inevitable given the recent repetition of actions and attitudes which are seriously damaging to the Marseille Olympic institution and its employees who defend it daily.
“The comments made today at a press conference with regard to Pablo Longoria, director general in charge of football, are unacceptable.
“Its exceptional investment cannot be called into question and was on the contrary welcomed by all during this winter transfer window marked by an unprecedented crisis.
“Any sanctions will be taken against Andre Villas-Boas following a disciplinary procedure.”
According to Telefoot Chaine via GFFN, the Marseille squad bar Steve Mandanda were unaware that Villas-Boas planned to offer his resignation.
After finishing second last term, Marseille have been nothing short of shocking this campaign as they sit ninth in the table.
They are already out of Europe having finished bottom of their Champions League group, and trail fourth-placed Monaco by ten points.
