Chelsea star N’Golo Kante reveals why he snubbed PSG transfer under new boss Thomas Tuchel to stay at Stamford Bridge

N’GOLO KANTE has revealed the reasons behind his decision to snub a move to Thomas Tuchel’s Paris Saint-Germain.
The German is now Kante’s manager at Chelsea having left Ligue 1 late last year – where he had tried to land the midfield star.

But the 29-year-old’s happiness at Stamford Bridge meant he did not consider the offer.
Kante told the club website: “I knew in the past there was some contact with Paris Saint-Germain when he was the manager, but it was not something I wanted.
“It did not happen because I was happy at Chelsea and I stayed here.
“I haven’t spoken to the manager about it!”

The Frenchman was linked with PSG in the summer of 2019 and admitted the interest was ‘rewarding’.
Yet he committed his future to Chelsea, where he is under contract until 2023.

Tuchel is slowly reintroducing Kante to his line-up after a spell out with a hamstring injury.

Starts against Southampton and Manchester United have come alongside a number of substitute appearances, and the player spoke of his frustration at being injured.
He continued: “When injury comes, you play two weeks, and then you get injured, it’s not the best.
“You don’t feel like you are giving the best to the club or your team-mates.

I realise now it’s better to take more time to recover. I speak with the medical staff to get the best out of me for the team.
    N’Golo Kante

“You can learn from these times to appreciate more the time you are fit, when you can play and train with your team-mates. When I have been injured it’s a period of reflection of what you can do better.
“I realise now it’s better to take more time to recover. I speak with the medical staff to get the best out of me for the team. This is something I have learned.
“I am happy now to feel good. We have played so many games in a short time, so injury can come back, but we try to prevent more injuries.
“I have learned when you are not ready, take more time because that will help the team more.”

Five world class strikers Man Utd could try to sign including Kane and Haaland after Carragher’s transfer warning

MANCHESTER UNITED lack ‘quality’ upfront and ‘need a centre-forward more than anything’, according to Jamie Carragher.
And SunSport have detailed five big name strikers the Red Devils could sign at the end of the season.

The Red Devils failed to score against a fellow member of the ‘Big Six’ for a sixth time in a row against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon.
And while accusations of ‘boring, boring Man Utd’ have been levelled at boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his team, pundit Carragher doesn’t think the Norwegian is to blame.
He said on Sky Sports MNF: “In that final third they just didn’t have that quality.
“When the ball actually goes up to the front players – is there enough quality?

“You’ve said they’re the top scorers in the Premier League.
“But have they got that player to score in the decisive games, that player that’s going to take them to the league title?
“And when I look at that, people talk about Manchester United, they need a right winger, they went for (Jadon) Sancho, they need a centre-forward more than anything.”
And here SunSport has listed five front men the Red Devils could sign after Carragher’s stark warning.

    HARRY KANE
SunSport previously reported that Tottenham are unlikely to want to sell Kane and haven’t even set an asking price.
And with his Spurs contract running until 2024, United would have to pay a hefty fee to prise the star man away from North London.
But after Tottenham’s early promise this season it looks set to be another disappointing campaign with the club eighth in the table – albeit they are in the League Cup final.
Kane, 27, is in the peak years of his career and may just decide it’s time to go somewhere he has a legitimate chance of winning the Premier League.

    ERLING HAALAND
Solskjaer is set to be handed a summer war chest – and Haaland is said to be top of his wishlist.
United were in the hunt for Haaland, the most wanted striker in Europe, before he joined Borussia Dortmund last January.
A £65million release clause only kicks in next year, meaning anyone wanting to sign the 20-year-old before then will have to pay an inflated premium of at least £100m.
The striker has been in sensational form this season, scoring 17 Bundesliga goals in 18 games.

    KYLIAN MBAPPE
United legend Rio Ferdinand has begged his former employers to ‘move heaven and earth’ to sign Haaland or Mbappe.
The 42-year-old has urged Solskjaer to sign one of the two strikers as he stated the club cannot allow their Premier League rivals to nab them.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he said: “Cavani, yes, he’s a good stop-gap but (we need) a centre-forward.
“If people like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe are available, you can’t allow them to go somewhere else and you need to move heaven and earth to get them here.
“United are used to having superstars and those boys would change the narrative at this football club, that’s how good they are.
“There’s room for improvement and opportunity to improve this squad, there’s players out there available, it seems. We need to be in the mix.”

    RAUL JIMENEZ
United have been linked with Wolves’ Mexican striker for months and even made an approach last year.
He is back in training after his horror skull fracture picked up earlier this season.
The Red Devils were told to fork out £60m for him last summer but that fee could have gone down now.

    ANDRE SILVA
SunSport exclusively revealed last Tuesday that United will be offered Eintracht Frankfurt striker Silva for £30m, but only if Edinson Cavani leaves.
Silva’s agent Jorge Mendes is hoping to orchestrate the move with Frankfurt needing to raise funds to buy back Real Madrid forward Luka Jovic.
Portuguese international Silva has been on fire in the Bundesliga this season with 19 goals in 21 appearances – second only to Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski in the scoring charts.
The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to the Premier League in the past after leaving Porto to join AC Milan in 2017 for £32m.
Since then, loan switches to Sevilla and then Frankfurt saw him sign for the latter in September, but England remains an attractive option.
The deal – which could be worth up to £30m in pandemic times – is with bringing Jovic back to the club in mind.

Ferdinand begs Man Utd to ‘move heaven and earth’ to sign Mbappe or Haaland as he gives Solskjaer his transfer wishlist

MANCHESTER UNITED legend Rio Ferdinand has begged his former employers to ‘move heaven and earth’ to sign either Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe.

Borussia Dortmund marksman Haaland has been heavily linked with a switch to Old Trafford, but United are understood to face competition from Chelsea and Manchester City.
Meanwhile Paris Saint-Germain star Mbappe is believed to be attracting interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid.
With Edinson Cavani set to become a free agent in the summer, Ferdinand has declared a striker must be brought in if United want to compete for the title.
Speaking on his FIVE YouTube channel, he said: “Cavani, yes, he’s a good stopgap but (we need) a centre-forward.

“If people like Erling Haaland or Kylian Mbappe are available, you can’t allow them to go somewhere else and you need to move heaven and earth to get them here.

“There’s room for improvement and opportunity to improve this squad, there’s players out there available, it seems. We need to be in the mix.”
Ferdinand then stressed a quick centre-back must be eyed up, as he added: “Manchester United were playing catch up from everybody last season.

“They finished 30 points behind Liverpool last season, now they’re above them.  That’s a big, big achievement in that sense.
“I see progress. I still see room for improvement, we definitely need to buy a centre-back, a commanding centre-back with pace.”
Real Madrid ace Raphael Varane is believed to be a key target for Solskjaer, along with his Los Blacos team-mate Sergio Ramos.
United are also reportedly keen on bringing Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic to the Theatre of Dreams, with the defender open to the move.
And the club are also said to be keeping tabs on Torino’s Nicolas Nkoulou, who is also on Leeds’ radar.

CHELSEA have received a boost in their pursuit of Lucas Gourna-Douath with St-Etienne reportedly prepared to accept £22million.
The centre-midfielder, 17, has been heavily linked with a move to the Blues and the Ligue 1 outfit may be forced into selling at the end of the season because of the financial impact of coronavirus.

Gourna-Douath is one of the hottest prospects in French football.
He has played 23 times in Ligue 1 this season earning praise for his performances from a deep-lying role.
St-Etienne boss Claude Puel wants him to be the future of his team.
The youngster is also said to be keen on continuing his development with his boyhood club.

But St-Etienne face being forced to sell at the end of this season as part of a mass player cull, according to FootMercato.
William Saliba and Wesley Fofana were sold to Arsenal and Leicester in 2019 and 2020 respectively and Gourna-Douath is set to follow to help balance the books.
But the Blues could face stiff competition as RB Leipzig and AC Milan are also said to be interested.
Gourna-Douath’s representatives are said to be preparing for all eventualities – including a move to England.

Elsewhere, it emerged AC Milan also want to sign Chelsea loanee Fikayo Tomori on a permanent transfer.
The West Londoners sent the English defender to the San Siro in January to gain first-team experience in the Serie A title race.
After Milan beat Roma 2-1 on Sunday, 23-year-old Tomori came in for huge praise in only his fifth start for the team.
And talk is already turning to Italian legend Paolo Maldini trying to sign him permanently.
Chelsea accepted a purchase option reportedly worth £27m when sending Tomori on loan.
And Milan chief Maldini hinted his team will try and reduce that fee ahead of any bid.

Man Utd transfer blow with Eduardo Camavinga ‘willing to sign new Rennes deal if it helps seal Real Madrid switch’

EDUARDO CAMAVINGA is willing to sign a new Rennes deal if it helps eventually seal a move to Real Madrid, reports claim.
The French teenager is among Europe’s most highly-coveted players.

And with his contract set to expire in June 2022, current club Rennes could be under pressure to sell.
But potential suitors like Real Madrid or Manchester United are unlikely to be able to fork out the £43million that the Ligue 1 club would demand for the 18-year-old this summer.
Rather than simply allow his contract to run down, however, AS claim that the midfielder would rather renew his deal at Rennes.
They reckon that Camavinga believes that he can benefit from continuing his development at his boyhood club, rather than entering the uncertainty of free agency.

This means that he could decide to wait until Real Madrid are in a better financial situation in which to finally pounce – locking out Man United in the process.
Rennes sporting director Florian Maurice is refusing to panic over the situation, believing that Camavinga’s ‘respect’ for the club will prevent him from running down his deal.
He said: “We will see what happens at the end of the season.
“We are continuing discussions with his agents to find a solution, before discussing the possibility of seeing him leave on a free in 2022.

“I think he is very respectful of the club that formed him. So, I don’t think the situation will come to that.”
Camavinga is now represented by British agent Jonathan Barnett – best known for listing Gareth Bale as a client.
And, in a recent interview with Goal, Barnett admitted that some suitors may not be able to afford Camavinga in the current climate.

Camavinga will cost a lot of money. Maybe the Spanish teams can’t afford him
    Agent Jonathan Barnett

He said: “The four or five teams that want him will not be able to sign him for 50 million (Euros).
“There have been no serious talks yet. But Camavinga will cost a lot of money. Maybe the Spanish teams can’t afford him.”
Camavinga burst onto the scene two seasons ago, when he debuted for Rennes in Ligue 1 aged just 16.
He went on to star for his club as they qualified for the Champions League last time around, earning his first France caps in the process despite his tender years.
The starlet has already made 71 senior club appearances to date, while he opened his goal scoring account for his country against Ukraine last year, in just his second cap.

Ex-Arsenal star Laurent Koscielny launches scathing attack on own Bordeaux team-mates over lack of effort

Jean-Louis Gasset’s men lost 2-1 at home at Metz on Saturday after going 1-0 up through Samuel Kalu after 14 minutes.
That made it SEVEN without a victory and they have now dropped to 11th in Ligue 1.
Boredeaux were also beaten in the French Cup by Ligue 2 side Toulouse on Feburary 10.
And ahead of the Metz game, Koscielny pulled no punches when asked what was going on.

The ex-Gunner said: “The atmosphere is average, even very average, you have to be realistic.
“Some are at the end of their contract, and others want to leave, that’s the reality of the group.
“You have to stay with those who want to fight and progress.
“When you have so many players who don’t make you want to work, or progress, it’s difficult to get results. That’s why I can be mean in my words.”

Former Newcastle and Paris Saint-Germain star Hatem Ben Arfa is one of eight players out of contract at the end of the season.
And it is not the first time Koscielny has refused to mince his words – criticising Ben Arfa for his application earlier this season.
He said: “I have trouble with some players, because for me it comes through work.
“I was instilled with values that are important in life and in football. I did not have the same education.
“I’m not going to be friends with everyone. If you want a great career, you have to give your all.
