Neymar blasts critics who question timing of latest injury before sister’s birthday as PSG star says pain is ‘immense’

NEYMAR has blasted critics following his latest injury, insisting that the pain is ‘immense’.
The Brazilian only recovered from a month-long ankle problem in mid-January.

But he is now back on the treatment table, after hobbling out of Paris Saint-Germain’s Coupe de France clash with Caen on Wednesday night.
Upset at the news, particularly as he’ll now miss next week’s Champions League clash with former club Barcelona, the 29-year-old hit back at critics on Instagram.
He wrote: “The sadness is great, the pain is immense and the crying is constant.
“Once again for a while I will stop doing what I love most in life, which is playing football.

“Sometimes I feel uncomfortable because of my style of play, because I dribble and constantly get hacked, I don’t know if the problem is me or what I do on the pitch … it really saddens me.
“It makes me too sad to hear from a player, coach, commentator or whoever else, “he really has to be kicked” “he dives“ “cries” “kid” “spoiled”… etc.
“Honestly it saddens me and I don’t know how long I can take it, I just want to be happy playing football. NOTHING ELSE.”
Neymar may have been upset by some fans bringing up the ‘curse’ of his sister’s birthday, with the forward often seeming to miss games at this time of year.

In 2015, he picked up a suspension for acquiring too many yellow cards – with the same also happening the very next year, enabling him to attend sister Rafaella’s Disney-themed party.
Injuries then ruled him out in 2017, 2018 and 2019, although he was still able to party back in Brazil.
After watching him limp off the field on Wednesday night, some fans believed he is up to his old tricks.
One said: “Ahh the annual Neymar injury that always happens before his sister’s birthday.”
Another added: “I hope the festivals in Brazil and his sister’s birthday are worth it, speedy recovery for sure.”
A third joked: “There are 3 things certain in life. Death, taxes and Neymar being injured on his sister’s birthday.”

Neymar WILL miss Champions League clash at Barcelona and could sit out return leg as injured PSG ace ruled out for month

NEYMAR will MISS Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash at his old club Barcelona next Tuesday with a groin injury.
The Brazilian could also be forced to sit out the second-leg in France on March 10 as he faces up to a month on the sidelines.

PSG’s star forward picked up the injury during Wednesday’s 1-0 Coupe de France victory at Caen.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino was left exasperated after Neymar was replaced by Kylian Mbappe following a hefty collision on the hour-mark.
The French giants were not hopeful after the game and hospital scans on Thursday confirmed their worst fears.
Neymar, 29, has a grade two tear of his left adductor, according to reports from France.

The former Barca star was seen looking glum as he left hospital in Neuilly-sur-Seine on Thursday and his entourage confirmed the superstar’s diagnosis.
PSG also said: “Neymar Jr suffered a lesion to the left adductor on Wednesday evening.
“After analysis of clinical exams and scans, it is expected that he’ll be out for around four weeks depending on the evolution of the injury.”
Neymar has not commented but tweeted on Wednesday night: “Honour and glory to God at all times.”

Neymar hobbled off injured in PSG’s win over Caen

PSG travel to the Nou Camp for the mouth-watering tie as they look to progress to the last-eight of the competition they were runnners-up in last season.
After news emerged of his injury against Caen, fans online suggested he had been struck by the curse of his sister’s birthday AGAIN.
Coincidentally, the Brazilian superstar almost always appears to pick up a knock just before sister Rafaella Santos celebrates her big day.
The ‘curse’ started in 2015 while playing for Barcelona.
He was suspended after picking up too many yellow cards and Barca allowed him to attend her birthday.
It was the same the following year when suspension allowed him to celebrate at her Disney-themed party.
Fast forward to 2017 and a muscular injury again ruled him out of a clash with Deportivo – the day after her birthday.
And the trend continued into 2018 and 2019 when injuries ruled him out of matches although he was still fit enough to party.
Neymar has been heavily linked with a return to the Catalans since leaving for PSG in a world record £198million transfer 2017.
But latest reports suggest he is set to sign a bumper new four-year contract which would keep him at PSG until he is 33.

Leicester ‘consider move for Newcastle flop Florian Thauvin in free transfer from Marseille with doubts over Under’

LEICESTER CITY are reportedly considering a free transfer swoop for Florian Thauvin.
The French winger, 28, has seven goals and seven assists in Ligue 1 this season.

Leicester City are considering a move for Florian Thauvin, according to reportsCredit: AFP or licensors

But with his contract at Marseille expiring at the end of the season, he would be available for nothing in the summer.
And according to Eurosport, the Foxes are looking at Thauvin as an alternative to Cengiz Under.
Under, 23, is on loan at the King Power from Roma this season and the club have an option to make the switch permanent for around £22million.
But it is thought the East Midlands club are unconvinced just yet whether to trigger that clause.

Under has two goals and three assists in all competitions this season.
Neither of those strikes came in the Premier League, in which he has played just 235 minutes.
Thauvin made his name at Marseille, spending two years at the French giants before signing for Newcastle.
But his return of no goals in 13 league games in the first half of the 2015-16 season saw him return back to Marseille on loan for a year and a half.

Since re-signing for Les Phoceens, Thauvin has racked up 50 goals in 118 appearances for the club.
He was part of France’s World Cup-winning squad in 2018, featuring for one minute in the tournament as a late sub against Argentina.
But with the troubles at Marseille, which saw fans storm and start fires at the training ground and Andre Villas-Boas quit, it may be time for Thauvin to leave.
A move to Leicester would see him reunited with former Magpies team-mate Ayoze Perez, who joined the Foxes in 2019 and has ten goals in 62 appearances.

Kylian Mbappe vs Erling Haaland stats compared with Real Madrid to secure transfer for ‘one of two strikers’

REAL MADRID are reportedly preparing to sign either Kylian Mbappe or Erling Haaland this summer.
The two strikers are among the hottest talents in world football and are both tipped to be the long-term successor to Karim Benzema at the Bernabeu.

Mbappe has been tearing it up in Ligue 1 since his breakthrough season in 2016-17 while Haaland earned his move to Borussia Dortmund a year ago after bursting on to the scene with Red Bull Salzburg.
And they even have the murmurings of a rivalry after the World Cup winner mocked the Norwegian’s goal celebration when they met in the Champions League last year.
But who is enjoying the better season this term ahead of a proposed move to Real Madrid?
Well, it’s pretty close – but on paper, it’s Haaland… just.

The Leeds-born forward, also a target for Manchester City, has 22 goals in 22 appearances, averaging one every 85 minutes.
Mbappe, meanwhile, has 18 in 26 at a ratio of 110 minutes per goal – having featured for 113 minutes more across all competitions.
The Paris Saint-German hero, 22, boasts nine assists to Haaland’s five – meaning they both have 27 goal involvements this term.
Haaland, 20, just comes out on top, therefore, with 69 minutes per goal involvement and Mbappe just behind on 73.

He also boasts a slightly better shot-conversion rate of 29 per cent to Mbappe’s 22 per cent.
On the team front, both sides are lagging behind in their respective title races.
Dortmund are sixth, a whopping 16 points adrift of leaders Bayern Munich, while PSG sit third, a point behind Lyon and three off Lille.
Both sides topped their Champions League group and face Spanish opponents in the last 16.

PSG join Man City in Romelu Lukaku transfer race as Inter Milan striker continues to impress in fight for Serie A title

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN have joined Manchester City in the race to sign Romelu Lukaku, according to reports.
The Belgian striker is on the radar of Euro giants again after his sensational form for Inter Milan.

Lukaku joined the Serie A giants after his £74million flop at Manchester United, and he’s scored 54 times in 78 games for them.
And that form has drawn interest from Man City, who are looking for a Sergio Aguero replacement.
But Calciomercato in Italy report that French champions PSG are now also sitting up and taking notice.
The Parisians are looking for a new No 9 after trailing Erling Haaland last year.

The call for a new striker at the Etihad comes with Aguero attracting interest from Barcelona, who could be looking to sign him in a move by the Catalan presidency to keep Lionel Messi at the club.
Messi and Aguero are international team-mates for Argentina and the Man City forward could be used to keep the six-time Ballon d’Or winner at the Nou Camp.
Aguero is out of contract in the summer, which means he can talk to European clubs about a free transfer.

And that has alerted Barca, who are keen to bring the ex-Atletico Madrid forward back to Spain.
Aguero is still waiting for a new deal offer from City, where he has been for nine years.
Man City have not struggled without an obvious No9 in recent weeks as they moved five points clear at the top of the table with a superb 4-1 win over Liverpool on Sunday.

Sergio Ramos ‘fuming with Real Madrid over plans to buy £130m Mbappe after telling him they can’t afford his wages’

SERGIO RAMOS was reportedly furious with the suggestion that Real Madrid would bid £130million for Kylian Mbappe.
A deal to sign the Paris Saint-Germain forward continues to dominate gossip columns with the Ligue 1 club yet to agree a new contract with their star youngster.

On top of the mega £130m transfer fee, the deal would see Mbappe offered a £335,000-a-week contract.
According to French newspaper L’Equipe, Ramos’ camp has reacted badly to the apparent plans.
The club captain is still yet to agree new contract of his own with Los Blancos, ahead of it expiring in the summer.
The situation has led to huge criticism from Real fans, including from Ramos’ brother and agent, for not securing the future of such a key player who can now pre-agree a free summer transfer elsewhere.

Reports suggest Ramos’ chunky wage package is one factor in the delayed agreement.
The injured defender, 34, earns north of £300,000-a-week but Madrid are struggling financially amid the coronavirus pandemic.

The club made no signings in either of the last two transfer windows and were reportedly forced to seek a second squad pay cut in December.
With revenue slashed by the pandemic, Real have also advanced work on their Estadio Bernabeu home, which is set to cost a total £500million.

Despite this, a return to the transfer market is predicted in the summer with free agent defender David Alaba one major target.
Mbappe has long been touted for a move to Madrid, with Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland another linked.

In fact, the Frenchman heading to Spain could see Ramos move in the opposite direction and sign for Paris Saint-Germain.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are one of many clubs said to fancy a move for the veteran centre-back.
It has been reported that Les Parisiens’ have agreed not to advance their interest in Ramos until a final decision has been reached in his contract talks with Real.
