Neymar’s PSG contract includes secret ‘retirement’ clause letting him return to Brazil when he is 34

NEYMAR can quit PSG for Brazil when he is 34, according to reported clause in his new contract. The striker, 29, has already frustrated former club Barcelona by extending his PSG deal until 2025.

And it’s claimed the new arrangement gives Neymar the right to stay an extra year on top of that – then return to Brazil to wind down his career.
Brazilian newspaper UOL say Neymar’s main motivation in signing a contract extension with PSG is the expectation boss Mauricio Pochettino will spend big.
But Neymar also knows it would be difficult for other clubs – stricken financially by the coronavirus pandemic – to match the terms of his contract.
Barcelona, though, were said to feel “betrayed and used’ by his decision.
They reportedly sent representatives to the French capital to talk to him over a possible return.
But now Barca believe Neymar was always planning to remain with PSG.

Neymar is now keen for French World Cup winner Kylian Mbappe, 22, to lengthen his PSG contract.
And having won the Champions League with Barcelona in 2015, the South American superstar is hungry to achieve the same with the French giants.
PSG lost 1-0 to Bayern Munich in last year’s final before exiting to Manchester City 4-1 on aggregate in this year’s semis.

Arsenal ‘consider transfers for Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard to replace Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’

ARSENAL are putting together a shortlist reportedly including Odsonne Edouard and Moussa Dembele as part of their summer overhaul.Mikel Arteta has hinted at a very busy transfer window currently under construction at the Emirates following a disappointing campaign.

Last night, SunSport revealed that Hector Bellerin is among the stars on the chopping block.
And Alexandre Lacazette, Matteo Guendouzi, David Luiz and more are being readied for a move.
According to the Telegraph, French striker Lacazette could be joined by Eddie Nketiah in leaving this summer, with two stars eyed as replacements.
Lyon forward Dembele, 24, has spent the second half of the season on loan at Atletico Madrid but is yet to score for the LaLiga leaders.
Still yet to start for his new club, the Frenchman can move for a pre-agreed £30million fee in the summer but his poor form and fitness issues make that an increasingly unlikely option.
Dembele remains under contract at Lyon for another two years yet is reportedly available for around £25m should Atleti let him go.
A slightly cheaper option, at around £15m to £20m, is said to be Celtic star Edouard.
The SPFL runners-up may seek to cash in on the 23-year-old ahead of his contract expiring in 2022.

The striker has hit 21 goals in all competitions for the Glasgow outfit this season.
But any Arsenal approach may come up against fierce competition from Leicester, who are also thought to be keen and are set to be able to offer Champions League football next season.
The Gunners maintain an outside shot at a Europa League or Europa Conference League finish and travel to high-flying Chelsea on Wednesday.

RENNES 1 PSG 1: Neymar penalty not enough as 10-man PSG drop crucial points in draw with Rennes to dent title challenge

NEYMAR celebrated his new contract by scoring a penalty but it was not enough to earn ten-man Paris Saint-Germain a win in a major dent to their title challenge. Serhou Guirassy equalised for Rennes with a header 20 minutes from time before Presnel Kimpembe saw red late as the Ligue 1 race remains out of the champions’ hands.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side sit second on 76 points, three adrift of leaders Lille with two games to go.
Lille thrashed RC Lens 3-0 on Friday and now need four points from their last two matches against mid-table Saint-Etienne and Angers to guarantee their first Ligue 1 title since 2011.
There was a minute’s silence in memory of former PSG and Rennes goalkeeper Christophe Revault, who died earlier this week at the age of 49.
PSG threatened early on through Ander Herrera and Neymar, but Rennes were quick on the break, with Jeremy Doku proving a nightmare to handle for Layvin Kurzawa on the right wing.
The visitors were awarded a controversial penalty after a VAR review even though Nayef Aguerd made contact after Kurzawa had already fired over.
Neymar, who penned a fresh £500,000-a-week, four-year deal on Saturday, squeezed the spot-kick through Alfred Gomis in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time.
Doku continued to torment PSG’s defence after the break but the Rennes goal came from a set-piece as Guirassy thundered his header into the top corner from Benjamin Bourigeaud’s corner.
Once again, just like against Manchester City, PSG lost their cool and centre-back Kimpembe was shown a straight red card for a brutal challenge on Doku on 87 minutes.

It took a superb save by Keylor Navas to deny Flavien Tait in added time to salvage a point for PSG, who are chasing a fourth successive Ligue 1 title.
But the French giants could remarkably end the season without a major trophy.
After being dumped out of the Champions League by City and reliant on Lille slipping up in the league, Poch’s side travel to Montpellier in the French Cup semi-finals on Wednesday.

PSG ‘to step up Mohamed Salah transfer pursuit if Kylian Mbappe refuses to sign new deal amid Real Madrid interest’

PARIS SAINT-GERMAIN will step up their transfer pursuit of Mohamed Salah if Kylian Mbappe refuses to sign a new contract, according to reports. The French giants face a tough task convincing the World Cup winner to put pen to paper on an extension at the Parc des Princes.

His current deal runs out in a year and Telefoot state he is stalling over a renewal with Real Madrid seriously considering a swoop in what would be a mega-money deal.
And it is understood PSG believe Salah would be a suitable replacement.
The Egyptian forward, 28, is thought to be unsettled at Liverpool and open to a move away.
Chelsea have been linked in recent days while Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid were previously tipped to make approaches.
Salah arrived at Anfield from Roma for £34million in 2017 and has been in red-hot form since with 123 goals in 199 appearances.
In that time, he is a Premier League, Champions League, Club World Cup and Uefa Super Cup winner – and now closing in on his third Golden Boot in England.
His current contract expires in 2023 but he confessed there have been no discussions about an extension.
He told Sky Sports: “No one is talking to me about that, so I can’t say much about that.
“No one in the club is talking to me about anything so I do not know.”

Mbappe, meanwhile, continues to contemplate his future.
The 22-year-old – estimated to be the world’s most valuable footballer – boasts an impressive record of 106 goals in 123 games since joining PSG from Monaco, including 37 in 43 this term.
Boss Mauricio Pochettino vowed to ‘fight’ tooth and nail to tie the prolific striker down to a new deal.
The Argentine said: “The objective is to keep the best players.

“The club wants to win the Champions League and the objective of this club is to keep Neymar and Kylian for many years.
“For three months we have had a very good relationship. Both players are very committed to the club.
“Every team wants to have them in their ranks. I am optimistic that they will stay.
“After sharing a changing room with Kylian for three months, I will fight with all my might to keep him with us.”
Mbappe’s team-mate Neymar signed a new deal with the club on Saturday with his £500,000-a-week deal keeping him in Paris until 2025.

PSG confirm superstar Neymar has signed bumper new £500k-a-week contract until 2025 to end transfer speculation

NEYMAR has signed a new £500,000-a-week contract at Paris Saint-Germain.The new deal ties the Brazilian superstar down at the Parc des Princes until 2025.

His four-year contract is worth £104million – or £26m per season.
And it puts an end to speculation surrounding a possible transfer this summer.
There was talk Neymar may try and force an exit with a stunning return to Barcelona on the cards, four years after his world-record transfer from the Nou Camp.
The £198m move means he is still the world’s most expensive footballer.
His original contract signed in 2017 lasted until 2022 – but PSG were understandably keen to secure his future beyond that.
In 2019, he declared he wanted to quit the Ligue 1 giants as reports linked him with Barca again.
But speaking in his first press conference for two years last week, Neymar insisted he is ‘really happy’ in the French capital.

The new deal is worth £104m and keeps him at the Parc des Princes until 2025

He said: “I have got time left on my contract here at PSG. We want to do what is best for everyone.
“I have already said that I am happy here and I feel much better than in the previous seasons.
“There are some aspects that I have improved here. I also went through difficult times with things that people know about.
“I have always worked hard and have always been professional, contrary to what some people believe.
“PSG have grown a lot, the club is more respected. When people talk about PSG, they know that we are in the last four, five or six teams in the Champions League.”
It is thought Neymar’s new contract also has a bumper bonus should PSG win the Champions League.

After picking up one winner’s medal at Barcelona in 2015, he was brought to Paris to try and help fire them to European glory to add to their domestic dominance.
But so far, he has been unable to do that – losing last year’s final and falling at the semi-final stage this term.
The ex-Santos hero has missed five knockout matches since his arrival and managed just two goals in the ten games he has featured in.
He has endured his fair share of injuries limiting him to 112 PSG appearances but his impressive goal return stands at 85 with seven domestic trophies including two trebles.
Neymar’s team-mate Kylian Mbappe also has a year left on his deal and the club are hoping to convince him to sign an extension too.
