The 35-year-old will be a free agent at the end of the season when his Paris Saint-Germain contract expires and a new report states Inter Miami are on the verge of getting Messi.
According to The Times, he is set to be made the highest paid player in MLS history by joining Beckham’s franchise at the end of the current campaign.
SunSport reported earlier this month that Inter Miami had entered talks with Cristiano Ronaldo.
It would be a huge coup for the American team, and presents the prospect of the iconic rivals lining-up together finally, which has got people thinking.
One tweeted: “Time for the dream team Messi and Ronaldo at Inter Miami under the managerial genius of Phil Neville.”
Another commented: “IMAGINE RONALDO AND MESSI AT INTER MIAMI SHEESH!”
If the move were to happen it would mean Miami boss Phil Neville would be managing Messi, a combination that has left footie fans beside themselves.
And that got even more people talking as one joked: “Messi is apparently set to join Inter Miami. You’d have to think he’ll really progress as a player under Phil Neville.”
