Lionel Messi picked up the loose ball just inside the box and passed it beyond the rushing out goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel to Mbappe.
He took one touch, dribbled it around his opponent before to the shock of everyone, firing his shot into the crowd with just a defender on the line.
Mbappe collapsed to the floor in embarrassment, but his blushes were saved by the fact Messi was wrong to pass to him.
The 24-year-old was actually offside because only the Nice defender on the line was nearer to the goal than him.

In the promotional video, Mbappe gushed about the atmosphere at Parc des Princes, claiming that the fans are the team’s “12th man”.
The 24-year-old went on to laugh as he said: “To be Parisian is to be proud.”
Some of Mbappe’s team-mates can be seen in fleeting moments, often celebrating goals with him.
While there are also shots of PSG’s ultras.
Mbappe is under contract until 2025 at Parc des Princes, having snubbed Real Madrid last year to extend his deal in the French capital.
The futures of Messi and Neymar, however, are less secure.
Messi is out of contract at the end of the season, and is mulling over plenty of offers.
The 35-year-old has reportedly been offered a staggering £350million a year to join Saudi side Al-Hilal
While Inter Miami and former side Barcelona are also thought to be keen.

Neymar, meanwhile, wants to spend the rest of his career in Paris.
But PSG are claimed to be willing to let the Brazilian go.

Neymar names dream five-a-side team with PSG team-mate Lionel Messi – but picks Paul Pogba instead of a keeper

DREAMS do come true – or at least they do for Neymar. When asked to pick his perfect five-a-side selection in 2020 he selected Lionel Messi – who he plays alongside at PSG.

But the Brazilian forgot to select a goalkeeper.
Kylian Mbappe and Eden Hazard made the cut as the Brazilian insisted upon a forward thinking set-up that leaves Paul Pogba as the most defensive player.
In fairness, any side facing such a team would probably never get the ball off them anyway.
Another of Neymar’s former Barcelona colleagues Luis Suarez features with Mbappe also joining the winger.
No Brazil stars were selected by the 31-year-old because he was asked not to in the chat with Red Bull.
Neymar also selected a five-a-side team based on retired players and that too showed disregard for all things defence.

Four Premier League legends were called up: Thierry Henry, Frank Lampard, Steven Gerrard and David Beckham.
Spanish playmaker legend and Barcelona boss, Xavi completed that quintet as once again a goalkeeper went missing.
Neymar forms one part of PSG’s lethal forward trio alongside Messi and Mbappe.
Despite being constantly linked with a return to Barcelona for the past couple of seasons, Neymar has stuck it out in Ligue 1.
And with Barcelona now financially crippled, it seems highly unlikely the flamboyant attacker will be heading back to the Nou Camp any time soon.

But fresh reports claim new PSG sporting director Luis Campos is ready to sell Neymar for the right price. Campos appointed Christophe Galtier as the club’s new boss.
And before the transfer window closed in January, Neymar was said to have been offered to Premier League clubs, including Chelsea.
However, there were no takers – possibly put off by his staggering £600,000-per-week salary. More

PSG landed the Under-20 international on loan from Reims last summer.
That deal means the Ligue 1 leaders have to buy him at the end of the season, but Le Parisien suggest he will then be transfer-listed.
Ekitike has, unsurprisingly, struggled to displace Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi and Neymar up front.
But many pundits have been disappointed by his efforts.

Ekitike has managed just four goals in 27 matches across all competitions for PSG.
Boss Christophe Galtier admitted the 6’2″ frontman was unhappy with his “limited playing time”.
Galtier said earlier this term: “I told him that I was in part responsible, but that he was also responsible.
“When you have the attacking trio that we have at PSG that requires a lot of commitment and resilience and you have to keep going.

“Clearly, he is a talented player, who must make up for his lack of game time in training.
“We have said that he must work more, must bring more intensity so that when he comes on, he can add more. He has lost confidence because he hasn’t played much.”
Ekitike is thought to have rejected a £33million Toon bid ahead of his move to PSG.
And Erik Ten Hag’s United were reportedly in contention to sign him last summer. More
