Leeds transfer target Edinson Cavani ‘in talks with Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro on free transfer’ after leaving PSG

EDINSON CAVANI could be on his way to Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro on a free transfer, according to reports.
The Uruguay icon, 33, was released by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the 2019-20 season.

    1

PSG’s Edinson Cavani has been linked with Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro
Premier League new-boys Leeds had emerged as the favourites to sign Cavani.

Elland Road owner Andrea Radrizzani has publicly spoken about the possibility of signing the PSG icon to lead the line next season.
He said: “In addition to his quality, Cavani could contribute with his physicality and adapt here, but I’ve never talked about him with the coach.
“Having said that, we’ve certainly thought about him and we’ll see, given he’s still available on a free transfer.”

But now Globo Esporte have claimed that the veteran striker could be heading to Brazilian side Atletico Mineiro in a blow to Marco Bielsa’s side.
The Uruguayan front man is said to be keen on a move back to South America and that a deal could be hashed out in the coming weeks.
It was rumoured that Cavani was set to pen a two-year deal at Benfica with an official announcement “imminent.”
The Portuguese side then released an official statement on their website denying the claims.

But Fox Sports Brazil, have revealed that head coach Jorge Jesus had in fact held transfer talks with Cavani with a view for him to sign with The Eagles.
The Paris icon will not short of options this summer after consistently boasting one of the best scoring records across Europe throughout his career.

That includes 353 goals in 586 club appearances with 50 in 116 international matches.
On top of that, Cavani is a serial winner departing PSG with 16 major trophies under his belt.
Leeds have also been linked with the legendary Zlatan Ibrahimovic but the Swede looks braced to extend his contract with AC Milan.

But as reported by Goal, the whizkid looks set to replace Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen at Lille after he joined Napoli for £45m last week.

It is understood that David will pen a five-year contract at the Stade Pierre Mauroy.
The Canada ace has made no secret of his desire to join the Ligue 1 side this summer.
Speaking to L’Equipe in July, David said: “Yes, I want to come to Lille.

“I have had a very good season. For me, my next step, is Ligue 1.
“And the footballing project at Lille is fantastic. They are a very good team in France.
    “The Lille project interests me.
“I already speak French. That will help during my adaptation period.

“And Lille is very close to Gent geographically. So I will be able to concentrate on the pitch.”
Gent’s chairman Ivan De Witte had reportedly confirmed an offer from Leeds following their stunning Championship title win.

Manchester United had also enquired about the Canadian hotshot and the club had sent scouts to keep tabs on him.
While Liverpool, Everton, Chelsea, Spurs and Leicester have also been linked with the in demand forward in the past few months.
It’s comes as no surprise as David has emerged as one of the top young forwards on the continent having scoring 37 goals and assisting a further 15 in just 83 games.

Wojciech Szczęsny is backing the Portuguese star to help Juve overturn their first-leg deficit
Ronaldo bagged a hat-trick at the same stage of the tournament last season to help the Italian giants overturn Atletico’s 2-0 first-leg advantage.
Juve won the tie 3-2 on aggregate and Szczesny is backing the 35-year-old to do the same again in Turin tomorrow night.
He told Tuttosport: “I see a team ready, there is an environment similar to last year before the match against Atletico Madrid.

    3

“We can do it again this year, again Ronaldo’s hat-trick? Nobody in the world has doubts that Cristiano can do it again.

“As usual at the decisive times he makes the difference, he is ready to perform another miracle.
“We are playing for an important goal, finding the motivation is not difficult, we are all concentrated.

“Lyon seem physically fit, they also seem ready to play, we’ll see who will reach the quarter-finals.”
The winners will face Manchester City or Real Madrid in the quarter final in Lisbon.

Camavinga urges Rennes NOT to listen to transfer offers for him this summer as he wants to force 2021 Real Madrid move

EDUARDO CAMAVINGA will reportedly snub all transfer offers this summer to force his dream move to Real Madrid next year.
The French youngster, 17, is under contract at Rennes until the end of the 2021-22 season.

It is no secret that Camavinga has his heart set on a move to the Bernabeu.

And according to Marca, the whizkid has asked Rennes bigwigs not to listen to any transfer offers from other clubs.
Zinedine Zidane is believed to be a huge fan of his French compatriot, and has identified the midfielder as a long-term replacement for Casemiro.
But having won LaLiga – and with the club seeing £200million cut from their value – Los Blancos are unlikely to make any big moves this summer.

Real president Florentino Perez is reportedly happy with the squad at his disposal and therefore won’t fix what isn’t broken.
That has alerted the attention of Bayern Munich and PSG – with the German and French champions ready to pounce on Camavinga.
And his agent has warned him it may not be possible to wait around forever for Real.
Rennes have qualified for the Champions League next season after the Ligue 1 season was scrapped when they were in third place.

And the club are keen on keeping him for the competition.
New sporting director Florian Maurice revealed they would not sell their star man for anything less than £75m.
That has almost certainly scared off Real Madrid, who are struggling with the financial effects of the coronavirus pandemic. More

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘not happy’ and nearly joined PSG before lockdown as he ‘dreams of playing with Neymar and Mbappe’

CRISTIANO RONALDO was “unhappy” and came close to joining Paris Saint-Germain before the coronavirus lockdown hit, according to incredible reports in France.
The Portugal captain, 35, made the switch from Real Madrid to Juventus just two years ago.

But according to France Football, he was weighing up his options and had his heart set on a move to PSG because he dreamed of playing alongside Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.
Paris also holds special memories for Ronaldo because it is the city where he won the European Championships with Portugal in 2016.
Ronaldo’s frustrations with the Old Lady allegedly reached its peak in October 2019 following a Champions League tie against Lokomotiv Moscow.
Despite Juve winning the match 2-1, Ronaldo did not score or assist – and missed a sitter – while the team’s performance was below par.

The article adds that he was ready to picture himself away from Allianz Stadium and playing his football elsewhere, realising Turin did not have the same attraction as Madrid or the Premier League.
Instead he was considering PSG as a possible destination – he has a close bond with Neymar and reportedly “adores” Mbappe.
So the chance to form one of the deadliest attacks in world football at a club with the financial backing of Qatar Sports Investments unsurprisingly appealed.
One source even claimed the move was “very probable” before the pandemic put the brakes on a potential move.

    5

However, the impact of coronavirus across the sporting globe means any potential mega-money move to Paris looks to be off the cards again.
Ronaldo is now resigned to staying at Juventus but wouldn’t rule out a move this summer should the opportunity present itself.
The France Football report stated of his current mood: “He is not unhappy, but he is not happy either.”
Since joining Juventus, Ronaldo has won Serie A in both seasons.
On an individual basis, he has racked up an impressive 63 goals in just 88 appearances but did miss out on the Golden Boot this term to Ciro Immobile.

Cristiano Ronaldo ‘wanted to quit Juventus to play with Mbappe and Neymar at PSG before coronavirus ended transfer’

CRISTIANO RONALDO wanted to quit Juventus to play for Paris Saint-Germain but coronavirus thwarted the transfer, according to reports.
The Portuguese superstar reportedly wanted to link up with Kylian Mbappe and Neymar at the end of this season but the financial impact of Covid-19 appears to have quashed the chance of such a move.

    3

Cristiano Ronaldo wanted to leave Juventus for PSG at the end of this season.
Ronaldo was said to be grumpy after his Juve team narrowly overcame Lokomotiv Moscow 2-1 in the Champions League last October.
And later that night he was heard dreaming of a move to the Ligue 1 champions, according to French outlet France Football.
The 35-year-old megastar is said to have dreamed of linking up with pal Neymar and Mbappe who he admires.

    3

Having won the Euro 2016 with Portugal in Paris, one of the greatest footballers of all time is said to have an affinity with the French city.

And figures in Ronaldo’s entourage were said to have described the transfer as “very probable” before Covid-19 hit.
The goal-scoring Portuguese is said to be unhappy with the quality of the team around him at the Italian champions and would have considered a move away.

Ronaldo only joined Juventus in the summer of 2018 and signed a staggering £500,000-a-week contract.
Since joining Juventus, Ronaldo has won Serie A in both seasons.

On an individual basis, he has racked up an impressive 63 goals in just 88 appearances but did miss out on the Golden Boot this term to Ciro Immobile.

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger picks his two favourites to win Champions League this summer but ‘anything can happen’

ARSENE WENGER believes Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are best placed to take advantage of a weaker Champions League.
The Frenchman believes the competition has declined in quality lately with PSG among his favourites despite also, as he sees it, declining as a team.

With Real Madrid still to be seen off in the last-16, Pep Guardiola’s City are 3/1 joint-favourites with Bayern Munich to win the crown.
And Les Parisiens, back at 5/1 with Ladbrokes, are also fancied by the 70-year-old Arsenal legend.
Wenger is quoted by Metro as telling Europe 1: “When you are playing a match against Atalanta or Atletico Madrid, anything can happen.
“But for me, Manchester City and PSG are the two favourites in terms of their potential.

“Aside from that, honestly, PSG, I feel they are a little bit less strong than three or four years ago.
“In terms of their holistic setup, PSG were maybe a bit more complete three to four years ago, in all positions.

“The competition was stronger as well.
“But I think that there has been a general decline in the quality of European football at the very, very, very highest level and they are still amongst the two or three best in Europe.”

Only four of this year’s quarter-finalists have been confirmed after the coronavirus pandemic struck midway through the last-16 stage.

City and Bayern lead Real Madrid and Chelsea, respectively, before their home legs at the end of this week.
A victory for the Premier League runners-up would set up a tie with Juventus or Lyon, with the winner then likely facing either Bayern, Barcelona or Napoli.
Arguably on the easier side of the draw, PSG are booked to meet Atalanta on August 12 in Lisbon before the winner plays Atletico Madrid or RB Leipzig for a place in the final.
