Ngannou has enlisted the services of Mike Tyson to try and down the WBC heavyweight champion and took part in an open workout with the boxing icon earlier this week.
But his somewhat laboured punching midway through the gruelling workout had fans questioning his chances of victory.
A clip of a tired Ngannou jabbing and throwing a straight right hand to the body went viral on Thursday and also came to the attention of John.
The 59-year-old said: “Just seen Francis Ngannou and Mike Tyson and that so-called trainer who’s got the pads on the open workout.

“I hope he’s kidding along and playing possum here.
“I hope that’s a joke and intended to be a laugh because if it’s not, he has not got a prayer.
“He ain’t got a cat in hell’s chance.”
John is adamant Tyson will make light work of The Predator if he fights how he hit pads during the open workout.

He continued: “He won’t get out the first round. It’s probably going to be Tyson’s quickest knockout but it [the training video] has got to be kidology, fun and games.
“Because if that’s what he’s got, well god help him. He’s going to get smashed to bits.
“That is all I’m saying mate, that’s embarrassing. If that’s all he can do in a public workout, don’t bother doing a public workout. It’s a disgrace.”
Ngannou goes into his professional boxing debut as a huge underdog but is nonetheless confident of pulling off one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport.
The MMA man-mountain said: “My dream was always to box and to box the best.
“This is my opportunity to make that dream come true and cement my position as the ‘Baddest Man on the Planet’.
“All I will say to Tyson for now is he better dance in that ring.
“Because if I touch him, he’s going to sleep.” More
