Forget Leroy Sane comparisons — Ferran Torres is Man City’s top scorer this season

It was never going to be easy for Ferran Torres (£3.0m).
The 20-year-old joined Man City a month after Leroy Sane officially joined Bayern Munich in the summer.

For all the German’s backstage frictions, Sane was an electric performer for Pep Guardiola’s side and a key contributor to the club’s domestic dominance from 2017 to 2019.
Since he was seemingly signed as a direct replacement, comparisons between Torres and Sane were inevitable, even though the Spaniard would probably not encourage such behaviour.

    Impressive numbers
And while it’s probably fair to suggest the Spaniard has not caught the eye in the same way Sane did at his best, Torres has performed impressively in front of goal, where it really counts.
At this stage of the season, the ex-Valencia winger is City’s joint-top scorer in all competitions.

His tally of seven is equalled by Raheem Sterling (£6.9m) who has played considerably more minutes.
In fact, Torres is on course to match Sane’s best ever season for City in terms of goals (16).
While just two of his goals have come in the league, the latest coming against Newcastle on Boxing Day, he has thoroughly enjoyed himself in the Champions League with four goals this campaign — the same as Cristiano Ronaldo.

Not bad for a 20-year-old in his first season at a new club
Naturally, his exploits have translated to notable Dream Team returns.
Only six midfielders have scored more points than Torres’ 64 at this stage and two of those individuals are his team-mates: Phil Foden (£4.1m) and Kevin De Bruyne (£6.4m).
Torres currently appears in 8.3% of teams, which is a relatively big ownership for a perceived second-string player.
Of course, there are other factors to consider when mulling over his Dream Team worth.
It remains to be seen how the outbreak of Covid-19 at the club will affect imminent fixtures after the postponement of City’s trip to Goodison Park on Monday.
It is not yet known whether or not Torres is one of the players now isolating and there is guarantee when he will next be in action either way.

Nicolas Pepe just misses out on Dream Team XI of the Season so far

2020/21 has been a wild season already.
Aston Villa beat Liverpool 7-2, Jose Mourinho masterminded a three-week title challenge, Mikel Arteta forgot everything Pep Guardiola taught him, Sheffield United battled their way to two points, and Marcelo Bielsa introduced his *unique* brand of football to a wider audience.

The unusual nature of the campaign has made Dream Team a tricky realm to navigate though some reliable performers have provided welcome reassurance.
With that being said, let’s swiftly run through the best possible XI of the season based on total points.
BETWAY NEW CUSTOMER OFFER: BET £10 GET A £10 BONUS* WITH BETWAY

    Nearly man
Before we begin, a quick nod to Nicolas Pepe (£4.5m) who was just a fraction short of making the team.
The Ivorian winger has produced surprisingly healthy returns given Arsenal’s woeful league form and a suspension that followed a red card against Leeds.

Pepe has done all his best work on Thursday nights, picking up a whopping 59 points in the Europa League alone.
Goalkeeper: Edouard Mendy (£3.3m) 67 points
Only Emiliano Martinez (£3.1m) has kept more clean sheets than Chelsea’s new keeper despite the fact the Senegal international joined a few weeks into the season.
Mendy’s superiority is rendered mildly amusing when you consider that Kepa Arrizabalaga (£1.9m) is the outright worst keeper in the game with -3 points.

Defender: Reece James (£4.1m) 75 points
It stands to reason that Chelsea defenders would benefit from clean sheets in a similar fashion to Mendy.
The Blues’ right-back has risen £1.1m since the start of the season.
Defender: Kurt Zouma (£3.3m) 103 points
You’d have to be blind not to see the theme here.
Chelsea’s aerially dominant centre-back is the only defender to reach 100 points at the time of writing.
Zouma has chipped in with four very useful goals for Frank Lampard’s side.

    Blue bloods
    Ben Chilwell (£4.1m) 95 points
    More of the same.
The ex-Leicester left-back was purchased at considerable expense but has settled to life at Stamford Bridge quickly.
    Joao Cancelo (£4.5m) 85 points
Wait a minute, he doesn’t play for Chelsea!
The Portuguese full-back has rediscovered the form he exhibited at Juventus this season, helping Man City to a club record six consecutive clean sheets earlier this month.
    Phil Foden (£3.8m) 77 points
Man City’s blooming talent makes the cut despite spending a significant portion of the campaign on the bench.
Pep Guardiola has been more inclined to give Foden minutes this season but continues to rotate his host of attacking options on a regular basis.
The 20-year-old has four Star Man awards this season, a tally only bettered by Sadio Mane (£6.0m), Nick Pope (£3.5m) and Harry Kane (£7.4m).

    Hop, skip and a.. goal
    Jack Grealish (£4.6m) 88 points
Aston Villa’s talisman has the highest average rating of all Premier League players this season according to our ratings-providers WhoScored.
With five goals and six assists in the league, Grealish has an average rating of 7.98.
    Bruno Fernandes (£5.6m) 131 points
Man United’s Portuguese midfielder has taken English football by storm since joining almost a year ago.
He’s almost the ultimate fantasy football player, someone whose game is based purely on effective output (goals and assists) and he even takes penalties!
Fernandes is in a league of his own among midfielders this season and is understandably the most popular player.
    Mohamed Salah (£6.7m) 139 points
No player in Premier League history averages more goal involvements per game than Liverpool’s Egyptian King.
What is there left to say about Salah, an absolute phenomenon who has already done enough to be mentioned among the very best players of this era.

    Addicted to goals
    Dominic Calvert-Lewin (£4.7m) 130 points
Perhaps the most pleasant surprise package of the season.
Everton’s No9 has reached a new level under Carlo Ancelotti, adding more to his game than just his supreme aerial ability.
Calvert-Lewin’s points tally is particularly impressive as, like Grealish, he is mixing it with the big boys despite not having European commitments fulfil.
    Harry Kane (£7.4m) 172 points
Jose Mourinho said he would help the Englishman ‘explode’ during his tenure at Spurs and the evidence suggests the self-proclaimed ‘Special One’ has done just that.
Kane is accustomed to Golden Boot races but this season he’s simultaneously aiming to be recognised as the league’s best playmaker as well.
With ten assists – most of them for Son Heung-min (£5.5m) – he is leading the likes of Grealish and Kevin De Bruyne (£6.5m) having also scored nine league goals.
It’s early days but it already looks as if Kane will finish 2020/21 as Dream Team’s top points scorer if he avoids serious injury.

Tottenham vs Arsenal tips and prediction: Harry Kane and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to star in North London derby

IT’S the big one, the North London Derby.
This will be the 201st time Arsenal and Tottenham battle it out for the pride of North London.

The tide has changed in recent years as Spurs have the chance to go five games unbeaten in this fixture for the first time in 24 years.

    Tottenham vs Arsenal
Kane and Son to score and Spurs to win – 11/2
Aubameyang to score and Arsenal to win – 19/4
Kane and Aubameyang and a draw – 14/1
Spurs skipper Harry Kane and South Korean superstar Son Hueng-Min have been in frighteningly good form this season, firing Spurs top of the Premier League ahead of this weekend’s action.
Between them they have netted 16 league goals so far this season from just ten games, which is is six more goals than Arsenal have managed as a whole.
You can back Kane and Son to add to their individual tallies in a Spurs win at 11/2.

But for the optimistic Gunners out there, we like the look of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to score and Arsenal to win at 19/4.
The Arsenal captain is fired up for this tie as he thinks this test against Spurs could the turning point for Mikel Arteta’s side.
“I can’t wait for the derby on Sunday,” he said. “I think this is the game that we have to make into a turning point for us this season.”
“We have to understand that if we can win this game then everyone will change their mindset.

“A big result in the derby can really lift the players, the fans – everyone.”
Two of the last three meetings between the two sides have ended in a draw.
If you think the points will be shared again then you can back Kane and Aubameyang to score in a draw at a huge 14/1.

Nations League tips: Get England, Belgium, Holland and Italy all to win tonight at 5/1

We have selected a tasty accumulator for the final round of international games before the return of the Premier League.
With the Nations League drawing to a close we have picked out a four-fold acca including all the best teams in action tonight.

    Nations League tips
England, Belgium, Italy and Holland all to win – 5/1 with Betway (7.45pm kick-off)

This evening sees England, Belgium, Italy and Holland all in action and with Betway you can back them all to win at 5/1.
All four teams are odds-on to win tonight making this seem like a banker.
England host Iceland who have lost all FIVE games so far in the Nations League.
The Three Lions are expected to make changes but we don’t expect Gareth Southgate’s men to have any issues at Wembley.

Like Iceland, Italy’s opponents Bosnia and Herzegovina have also failed to win in the competition but have picked up two draws.
While the Italians are currently top of their group just one point ahead of Holland – making this a must win fixture.
Leaving Holland in the same boat as they have to beat Poland for any chance to leapfrog Italy to qualify for the finals.
Poland have a similar record to Holland but trail the Netherlands by a single point, making them outsiders to top Group A1.

Belgium flexed their muscles in what was a fairly comfortable win over England.
And we back Roberto Martinez’s in-form side to dominate Denmark and win five of their six group games.
You can back this acca at 5/1 – if you bet a tenner on this and the duo score you will win £60.
New Betway customers are also entitled to a free £10 bet* too when they sign up.

England vs Ireland – Tips and odds
Sterling and Kane both to score at 7/2
Despite having bags of talent and inform players, England have been in somewhat of a rut under Gareth Southgate.
But he will be determined to iron out the creases and get his men firing on all cylinders before they face Belgium in the Nations League on Sunday.

England will take some hope out of the fact they have never lost to Ireland at Wembley in six meetings – picking up three wins and three draws.
And they haven’t lost a friendly at home since 2016 after winning eight of their 12 friendlies.
Here at Bets Club we back England to continue this scintillating form in pointless friendlies with Sterling and Kane both getting in on the act.
You can back Sterling and Kane both to score at 7/2 – if you bet a tenner on this and the duo score you will win £45.
