Manchester United have won the FA Cup!
Andy Madley calls time following one last burst upfield from Rasmus Hojlund, and one half of Wembley explodes with delight.
Erik ten Hag runs on to the pitch in celebration, embraced with Lisandro Martinez, and then recaptures his composure.
A handshake and a hug with Pep Guardiola follows, but then the Dutchman can have his moment – his greatest as Manchester United manager, and most probably his last.
Manchester has been blue for a decade, but it will be painted red tonight!
Copy linkCopied Man City 1-2 Man Utd
90+6. City push forward but the ball won’t stick for Alvarez on the far side.
It’s Manchester United flags being flown around Wembley. It’s Manchester United voices that can be heard.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 1-2 Man Utd
90+4. United make two more changes, both as a means of reenforcing the defensive banks and eating up a few seconds.
Victor Lindelof and Mason Mount are the men called for as Scott McTominay and Alejandro head off.
Copy linkCopied Man City 1-2 Man Utd
90+2. Doku – who else? – wins Manchester City a corner.
City pack the box, ready for the inswinger from the left.
    It comes over…
…and Onana grasps it with both hands.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 1-2 Man Utd
    90. There will be seven minutes of stoppage time to be played.
Seven minutes left for Manchester City to defend their FA Cup.
    Send for Paul Dickov.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 1-2 Man Utd
    89. It’s all Manchester City now as they pass it around outside the United box, looking for one vital opening.
It eventually falls at the feet of Manuel Akanji, who inexplicably slams it over from 25 yards out.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 1-2 Man Utd
    87. With three minutes remaining, Manchester City have got one back!
And it’s no surprise that it’s Jeremy Doku who has given them late hope – albeit thanks to a huge helping hand from Andre Onana.
The City substitute bursts across the penalty area from the left and lets fly with a right-footer towards the bottom corner.
It should be saved by Onana diving to his right, but the goalkeeper is only able to ease the ball into the net at the near post.
In the stands, Sir Alex Ferguson looks at his watch. City couldn’t, could they?

    Copy linkCopiedCity have hope!

Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    85. Five. Minutes. To. Go.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    83. City are going nowhere. Literally. It’s giving Lee Dixon time to discuss how scruffy Sofyan Amrabat is.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    81. At the other end, Fernandes whips a free-kick from a similar position straight into the body of Ortega.
There’s no disappointment from those in red, however, as they rush back into their shape.
Less than ten minutes of normal time remain.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    79. Amrabat is – harshly – adjudged to have fouled Doku just outside of the penalty area.
The United players are furious with the decision which presents a free-kick to City in a very dangerous position.
Alvarez and Foden deliberate over the set-piece for an age before the latter slams a shot straight into the wall.
Copy linkCopied Man City 0-2 Man Utd
    77. Walker forces Onana into another save, this time with a low drive.
The United goalkeeper does well to block, but pushes the ball back into the penalty area.
Before Haaland can act, however, the striker is flagged offside.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    75. Quarter of an hour remains at Wembley…
…unless City can somehow force extra-time.
Are Pep Guardiola’s team running out of ideas? It’s very much give the ball to Doku and hope at the moment.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd – Man Utd substitutions
    73. Jonny Evans and Rasmus Hojlund finally make it on with Lisandro Martinez and Marcus Rashford taking a well-earned rest.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    72. Man Utd are going to make their changes now, and Lisandro Martinez will take his leave.
However, City captain Kyle Walker believes the United defender isn’t taking it quick enough, and reacts furiously.
The pair clash and go chest-to-chest with plenty of chat and finger pointing to boot.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    70. Here’s an FA Cup Final throwback.
Lisandro Martinez has gone down with cramp. You don’t see that much these days unless players are trying to waste time.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    68. Garnacho tests Ortega with a drive towards the near post.
City’s stand-in goalie keeps it out although perhaps with less certainty than he should have.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    66. Manchester United’s coaching staff are busy in the dugout and preparing changes, one of which was due to involve Jonny Evans on for Lisandro Martinez.
However, Martinez has determinedly told the bench that he does not want to come off and is fit enough to play on.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    64. Alvarez in on goal again…
…and again he passes up the opportunity.
Neat build-up play from City unlocks the United defence, only for the Argentine to sidefoot wide – and well wide, it has to be said – when confronted with only Onana.
Copy linkCopied Man City 0-2 Man Utd
    62. Manchester United are dropping deeper and deeper and deeper.
And they were pretty deep to begin with.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    61. Chance for Alvarez! Over!
City’s latest substitute blasts over in a hurry after a loose defensive touch just inside the area had presented him with a big opportunity.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    59. Walker from long range! Great save by Onana!
The Manchester City captain takes matters into his own hands – or onto his own right foot – with a fierce 30-yard drive, but it’s one met by the incredibly strong left hand of the Manchester United goalkeeper.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd – Man City substitution
    56. A third change for Manchester City, and it’s the most surprising so far.
Kevin De Bruyne has been hauled off by his manager, and on in the Belgian’s place is Julian Alvarez.
Copy linkCopiedMan City 0-2 Man Utd
    54. Haaland hits the crossbar!
It’s the first time today that the City striker has had sight of goal, and he goes agonisingly close to halving the deficit.
Again, Doku is the catalyst, crossing low from the left, and Haaland responds with a first time strike back across goal and on to the underside of the woodwork.

Man City 1 Man Utd 2: Garnacho and Mainoo stun title winners in FA Cup final to give Ten Hag perfect send-off

HERE, in what was likely to be his last match as Manchester United manager, was Erik ten Hag’s ‘football bloody hell!’ moment. In one of the greatest FA Cup final upsets of recent times, Manchester City blew their chance of an historic ‘double Double’ as first-half goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo sunk Pep Guardiola’s champions.  Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho fired Manchester United to FA Cup gloryCredit: GettyGarnacho tapped into an empty net after a mix-up at the back for CityCredit: ReutersMainoo coolly slotted past Stefan Ortega to make it 2-0Credit: APIn 135 years of English football history, no club has ever retained both the league title and the FA Cup in the same season. And, thanks to a tactical masterclass from their Dutch manager, United gleefully wrecked the party of the one-time ‘noisy neighbours’ who have dominated them for the last decade. It was Ten Hag’s second trophy in as many seasons and it was the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s era that United had triumphed in a cup final against the odds. In the last largely-barren 11 seasons, United had beaten Crystal Palace, Southampton, Ajax and Newcastle to win trophies. READ MORE ON MAN UTDBut this was the most impressive by far – at the end of a staggering Cup win which included the epic 4-3 defeat of Liverpool and the extraordinary semi-final which saw United chuck away a 3-0 lead against Coventry only to escape a last-gasp defeat courtesy of a cruel VAR call.Ten Hag played without an authentic centre-forward, sucked City in and triumphed due to two long diagonal passes which stretched their rivals’ defence and led to those first-half goals. Jeremy Doku set up a nervy finale with an 87th-minute strike but United held on through seven minutes of injury-time. Ten Hag is likely to go irrespective of this famous win due to a lowest-ever eighth-placed Premier League finish as well as the humiliation of exiting Europe before Christmas. Most read in FootballCASINO SPECIAL – BEST CASINO WELCOME OFFERSBut if he does receive a P45 he can keep it in a drawer alongside a Cup winner’s medal – and in the knowledge that he had out-foxed the greatest tactician on the planet here. Before kick-off, there was the usual pomp and ceremony, hymns and arias, pyrotechnics and servicemen. Wayne Rooney breaks silence after being named Plymouth manager and reveals plan to do something he’s never done beforeAnd then United hoping to keep things tight for the opening 20 minutes rather than the 12 seconds they had managed before Ilkay Gundogan opened the scoring in last season’s final. But within a minute, Guardiola was hopping-mad, demanding a penalty for a Lisandro Martinez shove on Erling Haaland, which ref Andy Madley and his VAR ignored. Ten Hag had dropped his top scorer Rasmus Hojlund, with Bruno Fernandes operating as a false nine.England outcast Marcus Rashford teed up Garnacho who drilled straight at Stefan Ortega. United packed the midfield, often had 11 men behind the ball, waiting for a City mistake and the chance of a counter-attack.It led to a turgid opening 30 minutes before that long-awaited City error arrived. Diogo Dalot, United’s best player by a country mile this season, spotted Garnacho and delivered a brilliant diagonal ball from deep.Josko Gvardiol panicked and headed over an on-rushing Ortega, offering the Argentinian winger an open goal, to which he gleefully tapped in. City had three-quarters of the possession until that point but they had been spectacularly ambushed. United’s tails were up and Rashford sound found the net only for Garnacho to be ruled offside in the build-up. No matter, six minutes before the break, United doubled their lead with an excellent team goal. This time it was Rashford who picked out the long diagonal which stretched City, Garnacho fed Fernandes who teed up Mainoo to slot past Ortega. It was staggering stuff. City hadn’t lost a game outside of a penalty shoot-out in almost six months but United’s Cup run had been an extraordinary ride and here it was continuing into the final. At half-time, Guardiola sent on Doku for Mateo Kovacic in a desperate bid for more width and Manuel Akanji replaced the struggling Nathan Ake in central defence.Rodri tried to beat Andre Onana from inside his own half, Foden fell over his own feet when teed up by Doku and then Haaland thudded against the bar.  Guardiola dragged off Kevin De Bruyne, who had been strangely ineffective, and sent on Julian Alvarez on 56 minutes. Kyle Walker let rip from 35 yards but Onana dived to push wide and then Alvarez blazed over. Next Foden slipped a gorgeous pass through to release Alvarez who stabbed wide of the far post when he ought to have scored. City were peppering United’s goal but to no avail. Garnacho had a shot beaten away by Ortega at his near post as United’s counter-attacking threat remained. Martinez and Walker had a rutting match near the touchline, just as United’s Argentinian Red Dwarf was taken off with cramp. Hojlund, who had replaced Rashford, out-muscled Akanji to win a free-kick on the edge of the City box but Fernandes stuck it straight down Ortega’s throat. READ MORE SUN STORIESThen on 86 minutes, Doku’s daisy-cutter from outside the area beat a blundering Onana at his near post. But after seven minutes of injury-time were called, United clung on to take the Cup. THIS IS A DEVELOPING STORY..The Sun is your go to destination for the best football, boxing and MMA news, real-life stories, jaw-dropping pictures and must-see video.Like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/TheSunFootball and follow us from our main Twitter account at @TheSunFootball. Will the FA Cup final go to extra-time or does it go straight to penalties?

WEMBLEY will host the Manchester derby in the FA Cup Final TODAY. Manchester City won yet another Premier League title while Manchester United endured a horrid season, finishing 8th – their lowest in the Premier League era. It’s the Manchester derby at Wembley in the FA Cup finalWill FA Cup final go to extra-time or penalties? The FA Cup has seen a few changes over recent seasons.Replays were scrapped in order to put at ease the teams competing under a hectic football schedule. However, extra time has remained. So if the Manchester derby ends in a draw after 90 minutes of action, both sides will remain on the pitch for at least another 30 minutes.Penalties, like usual, will only be needed if the game is still drawn after the full 120 minutes. The last time extra-time and penalties was needed was in 2022 when Liverpool beat Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea after a 0-0 draw. That was the first time the showpiece final had gone to penalties since 2006 – with Liverpool also victorious in that game after a 3-3 draw with West Ham.Most read in Football More
