But while Alvechurch captain Willets would have been delighted to have his side progress, it meant he couldn’t go to Qatar.
Willets even had tickets secured for England’s Middle East dust-up with USA, according to BBC’s Betty Glover.
Instead, he was in action against League One Forest Green – and unfortunately staying at home came to nothing as Alvechurch’s cup ran came to an end on Saturday with a 2-1 defeat.
However, considering the boring 0-0 draw that England played out in Qatar, Willet might have been happy he stayed at home.

After the defeat, Alvechurch tweeted: “We are out of the FA Cup. A truly remarkable cup run from a small village team.
“The boys have done everyone proud, what a team we have.
“Thank you to all the fans that have supported us, your support has not gone unnoticed. WE ARE THE CHURCH.”
At the World Cup, Gareth Southgate’s men went into the World Cup group fixture with the USA off the back of a 6-2 win over Iran.

However, despite controlling the majority of the ball, the Three Lions only managed to register three shots on target.
Midfielder Mason Mount went closest for Southgate’s side.
His snapshot on the edge of the USA penalty area was saved by Arsenal’s Matt Turner.
Captain Harry Kane also had a good chance, but he sent a headed effort wide late on in the second half.

Sidemen star Tobi Brown and brothers in line for professional football debuts after impressing Crawley Town

SIDEMEN star Tobi Brown could have a future in professional football after he impressed Crawley Town.Tobi and his two brothers, Jed and Manny, did not feature in Saturday’s FA Cup defeat to Accrington Stanley despite training with the League Two club this week.

Tobi impressed on the Internet with his football skills and is part of the Sidemen group
Jed has impressed the most on trial but could not play as he is already contracted to Non-League side Fisher FC.
The game ended in disappointment for caretaker manager Lewis Young, but when quizzed after the game, he could only speak glowingly of Sidemen star Tobi and his siblings.
And he hinted that they could have a future with the club.
Young told SunSport: “It was over my head as to why they couldn’t play.
“It is something that the owners are big on, but unfortunately they couldn’t be involved today.

“But I do believe that they are going to be signed for the foreseeable, so as long as they are training well they will be up for selection.”
He added: “We are just trying to get results and obviously if they are good enough then they will be involved in the match day squad.
“I’ve just had a look on everyone as a whole, and I base my team selection on that, everyone has trained really, really well.”

With Tobi’s commitments to The Sidemen, his clothing brand Illvzn and his own YouTube channel, it seems to be youngest brother Jed who looks destined for greatness as a professional footballer.
Crawley perhaps could have done with Jed in their ranks today, as they were beaten 4-1 at home by League One side Accrington Stanley.
Tobi has previously claimed that Jed has the potential to play at a higher level after one of their training sessions in midweek.
He said to SussexExpress: “One of the main reasons I agreed to do this with Crawley and WAGMI United was because I wanted to Jed a chance to get trained at a higher level.
“Everything he knows is self-taught and I want to see how far he can go with the opportunity I never had.” More

HT. Crawley Town 1-3 Accrington Stanley
What a first half we have had at the Broadfield Stadium in Crawley! The hosts are currently losing by three goals to one, and it is a scoreline that could leave them wishing that they had Tobi Brown to call upon from the bench…
A goal within the first two minutes from Shaun Whalley opened the scoring for Accrington, before Crawley found an equaliser, which came via Jake Hessenthaler.
However, it was the visitors who regained the lead halfway through the first half, as Shaun Whalley doubled his goal tally for the day.
Accrington then piled on the misery away in Sussex, as a short corner allowed ex-Manchester United midfielder Ethan Hamilton to sweep a left footed shot into the top right hand corner.

Travis Johnson wins a tackle well in the left corner for Crawley, but can only put it out for an Accrington Corner…
    40. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley
Great football from Crawley, as Jack Powell and George Francomb combine really well on the left hand side.
It ultimately comes to nothing, as they switch the play to the right hand side and lose possession.
    38. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley
Leigh has a long throw for Accrington, which we have seen a few times on the right-hand side.
He has been impressive so far for the visitors, and is causing the home side plenty of problems…
    36. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley
Disappointing for Crawley, as a simple pass across the back line is miscontrolled and rolls out for a throw-in.
    34. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley
The counter comes to nothing, but the visitors are starting to sit a little bit deeper, which will allow Crawley to push for an equaliser.
However, they will have to be very careful of Accrington on the counter.
    32. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley
The rain continues to drizzle down at the Broadfield Stadium, as Accrington Stanley come forwards on the counter…
    30. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley

A very late challenge on Jake Hessenthaler sees Liam Coyle given a yellow card.
    24. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley
A brilliant delivery from the left hand side finds the head of Shaun Whalley in the middle, who dispatches the header into the bottom right hand corner.
He has doubled his tally for the season, having only scored one so far, but two in 22 minutes today!
    22. Crawley Town 1-2 Accrington Stanley

Midfielder Jack Powell misplaces a pass in midfield, and gifts possession back to the visitors.
    12. Crawley Town 0-1 Accrington Stanley
Tough battle in midfield so far for the home side, with Accrington certainly having the run of the green so far.
“Whose the home team here?” A home supporter beckons…
    It’s certainly a valid point.
    10. Crawley Town 0-1 Accrington Stanley
Crawley break down the right hand side with Travis Johnson, but he slips before delivering the ball into the box.
Accrington then counter, but the shot is wide and out for a goal kick.

It’s a goal almost instantly for Accrington Stanley.
The ball is played back to Ellery Balcombe in goal, and he is pressured by Tommy Leigh to put it out for a throw in.
The throw in is taken and the ball is switched wide, before being played through to Tommy Leigh.
His shot is saved, but palmed out into the feet of Shaun Whalley, who hammered it into the roof of the net from close range.

Bolton set to wear special FA Cup kit in first round paying tribute to 1923 White Horse Final triumph

BOLTON captain Ricardo Santos is hoping the club’s tribute to the White Horse Final will put them on course for a galloping FA Cup run.The Trotters will wear a kit celebrating the famous showpiece of 1923, in which they beat West Ham 2-0 in the first match at the original Wembley stadium.

That was played in front of an estimated 300,000 people – and Billy the white horse trying to control the crowd.
This season’s FA Cup final will mark a century since that famous match, hence Bolton’s kit tribute.
League One Wanderers are not expected to emulate Joe Smith’s 1923 side and win the trophy next June but hope to get past Barnsley at the University of Bolton Stadium on Saturday.
The shirts were modelled by Trotters stars including Santos, Gethin Jones and Elias Kachunga.

Wanderers also lifted the FA Cup in 1926, 1929 and 1958.
Current skipper Santos said: “We are all aware of the history of this great club and we’re proud to be playing our part in it.
“I think this is a fantastic way for the players – and the fans – to recognise our first FA Cup win.
“The photoshoot was good fun and I know the rest of the lads are looking forward to wearing the kit on Saturday.

“We’d love to emulate that team best we can with a cup run of our own and hopefully they can be a lucky omen and we can start with a win in these shirts.”
The match against Barnsley will kick-off at 2pm so it does not clash with the evening session of the Champion of Champions snooker, also being held at the ground.
The Trotters will make way for the potters, who will start at 7pm, meaning that even if the Cup tie goes to extra-time the crowd will have left.
