Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel warns his stars he’s not afraid to swing axe amid Tammy Abraham snub in FA Cup defeat

THOMAS TUCHEL vowed to carry on axing big names and warned his Chelsea stars: You ain’t seen nothing yet.The Blues boss has rung the changes since taking over in January — including ten in his last two line-ups.

Striker Tammy Abraham is the latest to feel the wrath of Tuchel after being left out of the last two squads — including the 1-0 FA Cup final defeat to Leicester at Wembley.
Abraham’s girlfriend, Leah Monroe, was so annoyed she even blasted Tuchel on social media.
Monroe posted: “How on earth do you make the decision to leave your top goal scorer out of the squad for a final?
“The same person who even scored the goals to actually qualify for this competition? It’s not making any sense whatsoever.”
But ahead of their top-four crunch clash with the Foxes tonight and the Champions League final on May 29, Tuchel said: “It is never personal.
“I have to select 18 players for a squad. We have Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Olivier Giroud who can all play as No 9, so I decided not to add another.
“And when Mateo Kovacic and Andreas Christensen come back I need to figure out the squad and even eliminate two more players.
“This is the worst thing for me. I understand this frustration. But this is not the moment to complain and for me to explain.

Youri Tielemans set to be handed mega new Leicester contract at end of season after stunning FA Cup goal against Chelsea

LEICESTER’S FA Cup hero Youri Tielemans is set for talks over a new contract which will make him one of the club’s highest earners, according to reports.Fellow Foxes Caglar Soyuncu and Harvey Barnes are also said to be in line for new deals too.
Youri Tielemans is set for a new Leicester contract
Belgian Tielemans blasted a rocket into the top corner at Wembley on Saturday as the Foxes lifted the FA Cup for the first time in history with a 1-0 win over Chelsea.
He still has two years left on his deal but the Midlands side are keen to agree fresh terms to secure his long term future, according to the Mail.
Jamie Vardy and Kasper Schmeichel are the club’s highest two earners on approximately £140-150k-per-week and Tielemans’ new deal would see him pocket around the same amount of cash.
And talks will also reportedly begin with fellow first-team stars Barnes and Soyuncu.
In recent years, Leicester have sold a big name player most summers.
N’Golo Kante, Ben Chilwell, Riyad Mahrez and Harry Maguire have all left in recent seasons but their likely qualification for next season’s Champions League is set to be a game changer.
Extra funds will mean they can hold on to their biggest stars.

He picked up the ball in a central position before unleashing a right-footed worldie which rifled into the top left corner.
A moment of extraordinary drama in the 89th minute nearly scuppered Brendan Rodgers’ men as Chelsea were denied an equaliser by a tight VAR call.
And the Foxes fans went potty again, seconds after believing their dreams had been dashed.
Schmeichel failed to gather a Ben Chilwell cross, Soyuncu lunged at the loose ball, which crossed the line off veteran club captain and sub Wes Morgan.
Chelsea celebrated wildly but they had not accounted for VAR, which judged that Chilwell was fractionally offside with his initial run.
A minute later, Leicester’s supporters had soared from the depths of despair to another bout of unadulterated joy as VAR Chris Kavanagh had his decisive say.

Ex-Prem ref explains why VAR didn’t look at Youri Tielemans’ winner vs Chelsea despite Perez handball

VAR didn’t check Leicester ace Ayoze Perez’s handball in the FA Cup Final because it didn’t occur “immediately” before Youri Tielemans’ screamer The Foxes won their first ever FA Cup on Saturday after beating Chelsea 1-0 at Wembley thanks to Tielemans’ sensational winner.

However, the star midfielder’s stunner was met with some controversy as the ball hit Perez’s hand, via his knee, when he tried to intercept a Reece James pass in the build-up.
Luke Thomas then picked up the ball and fed the Belgium international who launched an unstoppable 30-yard shot, which gave Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga absolutely no chance.
A number of Blues players implored referee Michael Oliver to check the incident on VAR and a raft of fans echoed the same sentiments on social media.
However, former Premier League referee Peter Walton explained that the supposed offence didn’t create Tielemans’ goalscoring opportunity and thus didn’t fall under VAR’s jurisdiction.
Walton also claimed that Leicester ace Perez didn’t break any rules as the ball came off his knee first.

He told BT Sport: “It’s a subjective viewpoint whether or not it was handball.
“Personally, I don’t think it was a handball, the ball has deflected off Perez’s knee and just caught his arm.
“That in itself people may argue is handball, I don’t think it was.

“However, VAR would not have got involved in that incident because the actual goalscoring opportunity didn’t occur immediately when there was a potential handball.
“There was seven seconds or so between that potential handball and the ball hitting the back of the net.
“That’s not immediately and the law states it’s only an offence if the goalscoring opportunity happens immediately, so good use of VAR.”

Watch Leicester fans celebrate in pub as VAR comes to rescue and disallows Ben Chilwell’s dramatic late equaliser

LEICESTER fans partied into the night after Chelsea’s equaliser, through their former hero Ben Chilwell, was disallowed for offside by VAR in the FA Cup Final. The Foxes beat the Blues 1-0 at Wembley on Saturday, marking their first ever FA Cup trophy, thanks to Youri Tielemans’ second-half screamer.

The west Londoners thought they had equalised after 89 minutes when old King Power favourite Chilwell reached in a delicious long ball by Thiago Silva and saw the ball deflecting between Caglar Soyuncu as well as Wes Morgan.
Chilwell passionately celebrated the goal against his former team and didn’t hold back before the returning crowd at Wembley.
However, VAR had a look and noticed that the left-back was marginally offside and overruled the initial call.
A number of Leicester fans were filmed celebrating the decision with all their heart at a pub as some of them even climbed up the tables.
These scenes made for an unusual situation as not many fans have celebrated a non-goal like this before.

But that is the impact VAR has had in English football ever since its introduction two years ago.
Many Leicester fans also took to Twitter after the whistle to celebrate their historic achievement.
Some decided to poke fun at Chilwell, who got booed by his former supporters at Wembley.
One fan wrote: “Match ticket £57, train ticket £35, Ben Chilwell knee sliding and punching his badge for it to be ruled out for offside, priceless.”
Another tweeted: “Ben Chilwell has to stand there watching the players he thought he was better than get a FA Cup winners medal hahaha.”
While a Chelsea fan wrote: “For me the high of seeing Ben Chilwell get the equaliser and then seeing it chalked off a minute later because his big toe is slightly ahead is shattering.
“Always hated VAR and this is beyond a joke.”

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel didn’t seem to be questioning VAR’s decision to overrule Chilwell’s goal.
But Tuchel believed the help of technology should have been used after Tielemans’ stunner as it appeared like the ball hit Ayoze Perez’s hand in the build-up.
The Chelsea manager said: “I’m not an expert in handball any more, I don’t know when it’s handball or not.
“I don’t know any more when they need to punish it or it’s OK to play with the hand.
“In the second half we controlled the match even higher, and we conceded a goal out of nothing, a fantastic goal, but a lucky goal of course.
“And then we have a big chance with Mason [Mount], a fantastic save from [Kasper] Schmeichel, and offside goal, that was very, very close.”

“So it feels like home now in England. How could I want to leave the club?
“I’ve got two more years and like I said, I really feel at home here. So there’s no point actually even talking about it [the possibility of a transfer].
“And we have only just started under Thomas [Tuchel] – we’ve got a lot more to do here.”
Jorginho’s comments come six weeks after his agent Joao Santos confirmed he would remain at Chelsea beyond the summer.

The Italy international has been an integral part of Chelsea’s team since Thomas Tuchel was appointed manager in January, starting in yesterday’s 1-0 defeat to Leicester at Wembley.
The Blues are believed to be keen on extending his contract at Stamford Bridge, which has two years left to run.
But speculation regarding Jorginho’s future continues to dominate the back pages, with Barcelona reported to be interested in the midfielder.

And he’s confessed his desire to return to former side Napoli in the future.
Speaking to Sky Italy in April, Jorginho said: “When you live in Naples you can never forget. I had a wonderful experience and I am very fond of the city and the fans.
“Now, honestly I’m not thinking about it because my concentration is all on Chelsea, but if there is the possibility, one day, to return, of course I’d like it.”

Amartey received a number of abusive messages on Twitter since Leicester’s historic victory, some of which are racist.
Many of these messages were replies to the player’s most recent post on the platform in March 2021.
Twitter has deleted some of the racist messages for violating rules but not all of them.
A Twitter spokesperson told Sky Sports: “There is no room for racist abuse on Twitter and we are resolute in our commitment to ensure the football conversation on our service is safe for fans, players and everyone involved in the game.
“When we identify accounts that violate any of the Twitter Rules, we take enforcement action.
Amartey jokes around with the Chelsea pennant yesterday
He then tosses it over his shoulder for a laugh

“We have proactively engaged and continue to collaborate with our valued partners in football to identify ways to tackle this issue collectively and will continue to play our part in curbing this unacceptable behaviour – both online and offline.”
Early reports claim one of the deleted messages referenced late Leicester owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, who died in a helicopter crash in October 2018.
Amartey joined the dressing room celebrations after the match and was seen jokingly throwing a Chelsea pennant over his shoulder.
He was also racially abused on Instagram, with several accounts posting ‘monkey’ emojis on videos of the player celebrating the FA Cup win.
The messages were posted on an Amartey fan account and have been up for more than two hours.
The news comes after a section of Chelsea and Leicester fans appeared to boo players taking the knee before yesterday’s match.

The 24-year-old, who swapped the King Power stadium for Stamford Bridge last summer, appeared to have equalised after getting on the end of a Thiago Silva cross.
Chilwell’s effort deflected off Leicester defenders Caglar Soyuncu and Wes Morgan before finding the back of the net.
The former Fox didn’t hold back when celebrating as he enjoyed the moment with his teammates.
But VAR judged the left back to be marginally offside, giving Leicester their first ever FA Cup win.
