Middlesbrough 1-0 Tottenham (AET) LIVE RESULT: Boro pull off ANOTHER giant killing as Coburn downs Spurs in FA Cup

TOTTENHAM are out of the FA Cup at the fifth round stage.Josh Coburn gave Middlesbrough an extra time victory on what has been a miserable night for Spurs
Harry Kane did have the ball in the net during the match, but his goal was ruled out for offside.
That wraps it up from a dramatic night.
The FA Cup sixth round proper draw will take place on Thursday 3 March, ahead of the fifth round tie between Everton and Boreham Wood.
The quarter-final will be played between Friday 18 March and Monday 21 March.
Hopefully we’ll have even more drama in store!
    ANTONIO CONTE
The Tottenham manager’s reaction: “For sure the result is not good and we have to be frustrated. It was a pity because in these type of game you have to start and kill your opponent. If you give them hope, they will take confidence and improve during the game. Then anything can happen.
“First of all, it is important to say that Middlesbrough played a good game, deserves respect and congratulate them for the win. We have to reflect on our performance and on the game we played. These type of games, in these trophies away from home, you have to try to kill the game quickly. Your opponent has to understand that the night will be difficult, instead we can do much better and in the end Middlesbrough deserved to go to the next round.
“This is part of our process. I repeat, we have to try to avoid the up and down up and down and there is only one way to improve the situation is to work and learn about the defeat. We have to go ahead and we will try to do our best this season.
“We have to give our best for the rest of the season, then we will see what is our position and the evaluation of our season. It is early to say something about this.”
    Jonny Howson
The Middlesbrough skipper said: “It was (a shift), I felt it last few minutes. We knew it was going to be tough physically and they have world class players who can move the ball around and make you work hard. You have to work hard, earn the right to play and we showed our quality. We deserved it as well.
“Beating Manchester United gave us confidence, enjoy it and give it a right good go, see what happens. If they turned us over with quality you can hold your hands up but we applied ourselves right, you see what happens in this competition and we have another upset. Moments like this don’t come around but you have to enjoy it when they do.
“From a personal point of view, my little lad Harry has got into football. I was playing against Cristiano Ronaldo and now Harry Kane so I can tell him we have beaten them. Hopefully we don’t lose focus and performances like tonight we can take into the league.
“Age is just a number, if you look after yourself right like Sol Bamba and Lee Peltier, we have to set the standard for Josh Coburn and Isaiah Jones, hopefully we can do that for the younger generation.”

    The matchwinner
Middlesbrough hero Josh Coburn: “Speechless. In front of the Riverside Stadium, cannot get better than that against a Premier League team.
“I hit it as hard as I could and thankfully it went in. Up there with the best (moment of career), just amazing. I can’t put it into words.
“In the training ground, all the lads are buzzing. The fans are getting behind the players too.
“Hopefully we can continue it and get another big team in the next round.”
    POST-MATCH REACTION
We’ll have reaction from both camps very shortly.

103 mins – It’s all Middlesbrough at the moment.
Another attack by the hosts fails to create a clear cut chance thanks to some hesitant play.
The ball eventually falls to Howson but he blasts a long-ranger way over.
    Boro 0 Spurs 0
101 mins – Another Boro attack leads to Jones stroking the ball agonisingly in front of goal into the path of Crooks.
But the midfielder is unable to reach it as Lloris gathers it up.

The Toffees dismantled Premier League rivals Brentford in the previous round of the competition by putting four goals past them.
However, the Merseyside outfit will need to improve on their recent performances because Everton have lost their last domestic fixtures against Southampton and reigning champions Manchester City.
The same cannot be said for Boreham Wood who will be going into this game off the back of a 1-0 win over Eastleigh.
And the National side have already proved that they are capable pulling off a giant killing when they knocked out Championship outfit Bournemouth in the fourth round.
What time does Everton vs Boreham Wood kick off?

Everton take on Boreham Wood on Thursday, 3 March.
The match kicks off at 8:15pm UK time.
It takes place at Goodison Park in Merseyside.
This will be the first time that the clubs have faced each other in their entire history.

What TV channel is Everton vs Boreham Wood on and can I live stream it?

    Team news
Frank Lampard will be without January arrivals Anwar El Ghazi, Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek who are all cup-tied having represented their former clubs in this edition’s competition.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is still nursing his adductor issue and he will be joined in the medical room by Fabian Delph, Ben Godfrey, Yerry Mina and Tom Davies who continue to be on the mend.
Luke Gerrard has received a triple boost because the Boreham Wood boss is expected to see Jamal Fyfield, Nathan Ashmore and fourth round cup winner, James Comley all return to the squad.
However, right-back Kane Smith will miss out on the opportunity to play against his boy-hood club because of an injury he sustained against Maidenhead United.

‘He’s absolutely fine’ – Pep Guardiola confirms Zinchenko will start in FA Cup against Peterborough amid Ukraine crisis

PEP GUARDIOLA has confirmed Oleksandr Zinchenko will play in Tuesday night’s FA Cup tie at Peterborough. The Ukraine captain, 25, was given an overwhelming reception by both sets of fans as his Manchester City side faced hosts Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday.
City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko shared an emotional embrace with Everton star and fellow Ukrainian Vitalii Mykolenko at Goodison Park on SaturdayCredit: Getty
Zinchenko was in tears before kick-off but was an unused sub in City’s 1-0 win – even though boss Guardiola said he had trained ‘brilliantly’ last week.
Now Guardiola believes it will be good for the midfielder to take his mind off the devastating events in his homeland with a run out against the Posh.
Asked if he will feature in the fifth round tie, Guardiola said: “Yes he will – he’s absolutely fine.
“It will be good for him to show why he is here and a magnificent player like him needs to play football.”
Guardiola confirmed his normal goalkeeper for the domestic cup ties – Zack Steffen – will miss the game against the Championship strugglers due to a shoulder injury.
He will speak to goalie coach Xabi Mancisidor to see who will be between the sticks at London Road.

Why is the football team called Boreham Wood when the town is called Borehamwood?

BOREHAM WOOD are travelling to Goodison Park to face Frank Lampard’s Everton in the FA Cup fifth round. They previously beat Bournemouth, who were 74 places above them, in a huge upset.

But some fans were left confused by the team’s name, which doesn’t match that of the town it represents.
The non-league outfit are commonly known as Boreham Wood FC, all separate words, but the town is just called Borehamwood, just one word.
One fan called the club’s name ‘One of life’s great mysteries’…
One of life’s great mysteries (well, can’t find the answer after 10 seconds of googling)Why is the football club called Boreham Wood Town (two separate words) when the town is called Borehamwood (all one word)?— Louis Mendez (@LouisMend) November 17, 2020

    Where did Boreham Wood originate?
Boreham Wood FC is a club esteemed in history, based in Borehamwood, Hertfordshire. There is evidence that the clubs roots come from a ‘Boreham Rovers’ team, playing in 1919.
Boreham Rovers FC was no more in 1939 when they folded, colliding with World War Two.

The club was officially established in 1948, as a merger of Boreham Rovers and Royal Retournez.

In 1947, Boreham Rovers merged with another team called Royal Retournez.
After an AGM, the club decided to take up the name ‘Wood’ before another team did, and Boreham Wood Football Club was born.
It is believed that the town was initially called Boreham Wood, as two separate words, and so the football team was named accordingly.
However, the Hertfordshire town has been interpreted as many different spellings over the years, including ‘Boram Woode’, ‘Borramwode’ and ‘Barham Wood’.
It is now socially accepted that the town is called Borehamwood, as is regularly seen on street signs.
This may have started with the renaming of Elstree station to Elstree & Borehamwood in 1953.
There has never been an official decision to name the town ‘Borehamwood’, but Elstree Council became Elstree and Borehamwood council in 1982 and the one-word name has stuck.
Boreham Wood FC have simply chosen to stick to tradition, and not change their name to just one word.
The clubs crest clearly displays the name as TWO words.Credit: Football club badge
    Will their name ever change?
It is unlikely that the teams name will change now, as they have risen up the ranks as Boreham Wood FC.
This is a tradition that has now stuck with the club, and long may it continue.
Who do they play in the next round?
The FA Cup underdogs face Frank Lampard’s Everton in the fifth round at Goodison Park, and they will be looking to cause an upset to the 16th placed Premier League opposition.
