WREXHAM defender Jordan Tunnicliffe was forced off in the FA Cup after suffering a freak injury. Oli McBurnie put Sheffield United 1-0 up just two minutes in at the Racecourse Ground.
ordan Tunnicliffe was forced off in the FA Cup after suffering a freak injury
But during his celebration, he managed to accidently injure Tunnicliffe.
As McBurnie followed through with his bullet header, he collided into team-mate James McAtee, wiping out the midfielder.
The striker then continued with momentum and crashed into Tunnicliffe.
The centre-back lasted just three more minutes until he had to be subbed off for Max George Cleworth.

Wrexham’s woes then worsened just minutes later as they were forced into another change.
Defender Aaron Hayden had to make way for James Jones, making it two forced substitutions inside 10 minutes.
One half of Wrexham’s Hollywood ownership was in attendance for the cup match.
Movie star Ryan Reynolds joined Gary Lineker, Alan Shearer and Mark Hughes on BBC 1.

Casemiro fires warning to Arsenal and Man City after Man Utd star’s FA Cup double against Reading

CASEMIRO has warned Manchester City and Arsenal that he is coming to get them. The brilliant Brazilian knows it will take some time, but he is certain that Manchester United are on the right path and can now see their rivals on the horizon.
Casemiro has warned Arsenal and Man City that United are ready to close the gapCredit: Getty
The five-time Champions League winner has not come to Old Trafford just for one final pay day.
The former Real Madrid midfield ace is here to make his own mark in the club’s rich history and that means beating their main rivals to the biggest prizes.
Casemiro said: “We’re on a good path. This is the way to win titles, but we need to keep growing.
“We know we’re progressing within a plan, step by step we’re building a well-structured team and this is important. To win titles in the future, you have to build a solid foundation.
    READ MORE ON MAN UTD
“When you arrive at a new club, you always dream of making history, especially when you see the greatness of this club. We know the history.
“But of course, I was aware of needing some time to adapt and of the rivals having a long-term plan before ours… Arsenal, Man City and Liverpool all have managers that have been there for a while and, therefore, have an advantage.”
Still, it is United who are the only team in the country still in all four competitions, even if the title is now a distant dream again after recent slip-ups at Crystal Palace and Arsenal.
Casemiro’s two goals against Reading on Saturday night put the Red Devils in the last 16 of the FA Cup with a Wembley date in the Carabao Cup final all but booked following their 3-0 semi-final first leg victory away to Nottingham Forest.

Then there is the mouthwatering knockout tie against Barcelona in the Europa League to come.
Casemiro is central to it all, dictating games and, as we saw on Saturday, finishing them off too.
He said: “Last time I scored twice in the same match was against Sevilla at Bernabeu and we won 2-1.
“My main job is to give more balance to the defence, help my team-mates and give more quality to the build-up… but to score is also important and satisfying.”
Casemiro is clearly loving life at Old Trafford.
After achieving so much at Real Madrid there were obviously fears the 30-year-old may not be able to find the motivation to help raise a fallen giant.
It was a challenge for me to keep growing and developing in my career (at United)Casemiro
Quite the opposite. When he said he was relishing a new challenge he meant it, and how he has grasped it.
He said: “I’m very comfortable at Man Utd, extremely happy to be here and enjoying every moment like a 15-year-old kid. But the most important thing is to see the team growing.
“We have to see what the reality is and we are still a club under construction. Of course we are already respected, the opponents know we’re strong, that we have good dynamics, the manager is doing a good job, the players as well.
“Manchester United is a big club, if we look at the titles, it’s the biggest in England. In our lives we have to have goals and challenges.
“It was a challenge for me to keep growing and developing in my career.”
A fine through ball from Antony on 54 minutes allowed Casemiro to open the scoring with a clipped finish over the advancing goalkeeper Joe Lumley before curling home a low 30 yarder for the second.
    SAMBA CONNECTION
He said: “Every goal that we score is a result of a collective effort. Every goal we concede is a collective consequence, there’s no individual error in this squad, we’re together.
“On my first goal, Antony’s pass was incredible. I know that people focus on who scored, but I wanted to give him a bit of love as the pass was magic. He’s an important player for us.”
Fred came on to flick home number three with his instep on 66 minutes before Amadou Mbegeu got a consolation for the Championship side six minutes later.
Andy Carroll’s return to a big stage had ended in the 65th minute for two bookings after a series of reckless challenges – one of which saw Christian Eriksen leave the ground on crutches.
So for Reading boss and United title winner Paul Ince this was not quite the return to Old Trafford he had hoped for.
Nor was the United team sheer as Erik Ten Hag showed no mercy in his quest for silverware.
    Read More on The Sun
Ince said: “You’re thinking all week who is going to play and then all of a sudden you look at the teamsheet and think Jesus, he’s going full throttle in this one.”
And Ten Hag aims to keep his foot on the pedal. More

    Andrew Robertson reacts
When speaking to ITV, the Liverpool defender said: “Bitterly disappointing. I thought it was a good cup tie, end to end and both had chances.
“We were more competitive than two weeks ago but that didn’t take much. We created chances and were more compact but at the end of the day we are out of the cup.
“At a club like Liverpool, fans expect a lot and to lose with the last kick of the ball it’s disappointing. We need to start winning games. It’s easy to say but harder to fix.
“This season has been nowhere near good enough. At the start of the year, we wanted a fresh start but that hasn’t happened. We’ve been worse. In the league, we haven’t been good enough and now we’re out of both cups now.
“You can’t put your finger on one thing, it’s more than that. You can tell we’re not as confident in front of goal and in defence we are a wee bit open. We had two clean sheets coming into today but then go and concede two goals.
“We need to get the confidence back, it’s easier said than done, and that’s how we will get results.
“We need to do it quick and we’re not. That it doesn’t help the fans, I’m sorry for them and the way we are putting on a show. We let them down again.”

    Lewis Dunk reacts
When speaking to ITV, the Brighton defender said: “Of course I didn’t [mean to score], it just hit me but I needed one like that it has been a while.”
“Sometimes you have to win a game like that.
“We weren’t great today but managed to grind it out against a top side. They are top players and top strikers, especially after the win 15 days ago when we were very good and beat them.
“We knew they wanted to come back but we dug in. We feel like we can beat anyone on our best days and we showed here we can do it on our not so good days. We just need to keep pushing on.”
When speaking about Kaoru Mitoma, he said: “It’s nice to have him in our side, I’m glad I’m not chasing him. He’s a top player and he’s come out of nowhere.
“We are lucky to have him in our team and hopefully we can keep him. We’ll take it game by game.”

Brighton 2 Liverpool 1: Mitoma scores stunning injury-time winner to give hosts deserved FA Cup win

KAORU MITOMA ripped the FA Cup from Liverpool’s grasp with a sensational stoppage-time winner for rampant Brighton. The Japanese international struck right at the death with an unstoppable 92nd minute shot into the top corner to pile even more pressure on the struggling Merseysiders.

And Jurgen Klopp must be wondering how he stops the rot after a ninth defeat of the season left his team deep in the doldrums.
The visitors had been fortunate to get away with a blatant foul on the edge of the area by Ibrahima Konate which appeared to deny a clear goalscoring opportunity to Alexis Mac Allister.
But Roberto De Zebri’s unflappable Seagulls refused to settle for an Anfield replay and were full value for their place in the fifth round draw.
Yet Liverpool could have been ahead as early as the fourth minute when Naby Keita set up Mo Salah for a shot which was blocked by Adam Webster before the Egyptian’s follow-up was hooked off the line by Lewis Dunk.

And it was clear right from the off that the visitors were not going to just sit back and allow Brighton to dictate the pace like they had done when they last visited the Amex two weeks ago.
But those attacking intentions also left them vulnerable to the counter attack and they were fortunate not to fall behind when Andy Robertson was caught out of position after 15 minutes.
The full-back’s absence allowed Solly March to race into the vacant channel before delivering a low cross for Evan Ferguson’s low shot to draw a goal-line clearance from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Liverpool were again struggling to cope with the pace and trickery of Mitoma, whose recent emergence was behind the club’s recent decision to allow Leandro Trossard to join Arsenal.

The Japan international looked a threat every time he received the ball and one mazy run and exchange of passes with Ferguson was only halted by a full-stretch save from Alisson.
Liverpool, though, kept throwing men forward and should have been ahead when Harvey Elliott’s 25th-minute through ball sent Salah bearing down on goal.
But with only keeper Jason Steele to beat, Salah uncharacteristically dragged his shot wide of the far post.
Yet Brighton failed to heed that warning and were finally undone by the same Liverpool combination five minutes later.
This time it was Salah who was the provider, sliding in a low cross for Elliott to burst into the box and beat Steele with an unerring shot into the far corner.
Not so long ago that goal would have been enough to see off a Brighton team who were notorious for dominating possession without ever finishing their good approach work.
But those days are long gone and within nine minutes of falling behind they were back on level terms.
Alexander-Arnold’s clearing header from Mac Allister’s cross dropped invitingly for Tariq Lamptey to try his luck from the edge of the area but his shot still needed a massive deflection off skipper Dunk to wrong-foot Alisson.
After such a breathless first-half, it was hardly surprising that the relentless pace dropped after the break as both teams tried to find an opening.

Brighton thought they had achieved that aim when Mitoma’s magnificent outside-of-the-boot cross picked out March right in front of goal.
But Alisson threw himself at the midfielder’s feet and was able to pull off a save which the travelling Liverpool fans thought would be enough to secure an Anfield replay until Mitoma’s last-gasp intervention.

Fabinho was shown yellow but VAR refused to overturn it to a red – as the Brazilian avoided a sending off.
It left fans puzzled and they vented their disbelief at the decision on social media.
One said: “Fabinho literally knew it was a red and they still haven’t given it.”
Another said: “VAR is an absolute joke. Fabinho’s challenge on Ferguson is the clearest and most obvious red card you’ll see all season.”

The drama on the field did not stop there though, as Brighton grabbed a dramatic late winner.
Left-back Pervis Estupinan took down a free-kick from Pascal Gross and lofted it into the box.
He picked out winger Kaoru Mitoma, who produced two magical touches to create space and fire pass Alisson.
But the celebrations could only really get started after a VAR check ruled Estupinan onside.
Harvey Elliott had opened the scoring on the half-hour mark only for Lewis Dunk to level nine minutes later.
And the Premier League sides looked to be heading for an Anfield replay before Mitoma’s late winner.

Cheeky Man Utd fans demand statue of Adrien Rabiot’s mum after Casemiro’s stunning FA Cup double

MANCHESTER UNITED fans were left thanking Adrien Rabiot’s mum after last night’s FA Cup victory over Reading. Casemiro’s double saw United gain passage to the fifth-round of the competition as the Brazilian once again stole the show at Old Trafford.

His formidable performances since arriving in August have gained plaudits from fans and pundits – but it may have all been so different.
Rabiot was originally United’s main target to fill the hole in their midfield but the deal could not be done.
It has been reported that the robust demands of his agent mother, Veronique Rabiot, was the reason the move collapsed.
United fans could not help but pay tribute to her role in allowing Casemiro to wind up in Manchester.

One fan said on Twitter: “Thank you, Veronique Rabiot for giving us the best defensive midfielder in the world.
One supporter went even further with a tongue-in-cheek demand to “dedicate a statue” in the agent mum’s honour.
Another said: “Rabiot, we’ve all forgotten about him. Thank you, Véronique!”
And another fan, trying to underline the importance of Casemiro, said: “I’m telling you now. Take Casemiro out of that United side and replace him with Rabiot and we’d be 10 points worse off in the league at least.

Carroll received two yellow cards in the space of five minutes for fouls on Tyrell Malacia and Man of the Match Casemiro.
Fans went online to blast the “crazy” challenges, but it was a scissor kick from behind against Eriksen – which went unpunished – that is set to have the biggest impact.
The Danish international went off in the 57th minute for Fred.
However, Ten Hag and United fans alike will now be sweating over his fitness after Eriksen was spotted leaving Old Trafford on crutches with a suspected ankle injury.

Eriksen, who joined for free in the summer after his short-term contract at Brentford expired, has been a key component of United’s engine room throughout the season.
