Lewis Hamilton’s incredible homes from £18m six-bedroom London mansion to £32m New York penthouse in celeb hotspot

BEING a Formula One driver, Lewis Hamilton is a natural globetrotter.
Flying from circuit to circuit, the Brit has won the world championship SIX times.

With the 2020 season having been on hold until earlier this month due to coronavirus, he at least had a choice of four luxury homes to self-isolate in.
From a £32MILLION penthouse in New York to an £18MILLION London mansion and a Monte Carlo retreat, the 35-year-old racer knows how to live a life of luxury.
    NEW YORK, NEW YORK
Lewis has an affinity to America, especially the east coast, where he has owned two properties in the Big Apple.
Last year, he splashed £32m on a Manhattan penthouse in a condo project part-owned by NFL great Tom Brady and his model wife Gisele Bundchen.

His 6,547 square-foot home included a huge outdoor area and has views of the Hudson River, as well as a swimming pool, fitness centre,  squash court, library, and wine cellar.
Neighbours include Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and Austin Powers star Mike Myers.
Around the same time, he listed his three-floor 8,900-square-foot penthouse that had its own swimming pool.
Hamilton paid £34m for the five bedroom, six bathroom apartment in Tribeca in 2017, but incredibly never lived in it. It’s not known if he ever did sell it.

    LONDON
So, this is what £18m buys you in England’s capital…
In 2017, Hamilton snapped up this unique six bedroom detached villa in West London from previous owners Burberry chief designer Christopher Bailey and his husband, actor Simon Woods.
The stunning property has “generous entertaining space” which opens out into a 200ft garden with an impressive summer house.
It was built by the famous builder Samuel Johns in 1860.

There are also four reception rooms, with two huge bathrooms.

Again, it’s not known how much time Lewis spends living in the property.

A secret property in Hamilton’s property portfolio is his Swiss retreat.
He owns an exotic three-bedroom apartment in a six-storey building in Luins village, Nyon.
Michael Schumacher, Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa are also said to be residents in the luxury abode.
The apartment also boasts an incredible view of Lake Geneva.
It’s the perfect place for him to clear his head, and offers peace and tranquility.

Like many F1 drivers, Hamilton also lives in Monaco.
Although not much is known about his property, he once shared a snap of his wonderful view.
He captioned a snap on social media: “A place I call home, Monte Carlo. I am so blessed to live in such an incredible place. God is really shinning down on me today.
“Sending you light & love for your day. On my way to Spa, let’s do this!!!”

SunSport understands that neither person works for an F1 team and their removal will have no impact on the racing this weekend.

F1 teams fear burnout just two weeks into season and accuse drivers of double standards for jetting off while they work

FORMULA ONE staff risk burnout as the sport presses ahead with it’s brutal calendar.
SunSport has been contacted by team personnel desperate to express their concerns at the grueling schedule.

    2

Hundreds of engineers and team staff are being put through a hectic schedule to get the F1 show back on the roadCredit: AFP – Getty
F1 has lined up a total of 10 races in 13 weeks – with staff working 16-hour days, and that’s before you factor in travelling.
One senior team insider told us how lives could be put at risk given the hours staff are being forced to work as the sport mounted it’s comeback.
And an experienced mechanic says they are considering QUITTING after growing disgruntled by, not only the workload, but by the double standards within the teams.
The source, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: “I’m the closest I’ve been to walking away. I feel like I’m part of an experiment.

“I’m about done with it. Missing my family and playing by the rules when the drivers and management go off home every week.
“Yet I have to obey rules and stay in my bubble… Apparently wealth and status means you’re immune.”
    ONE RULE FOR THEM…
While F1 drivers and team bosses have been going back home in between the opening three races, other staff have remained on the road and kept in isolation due to the coronavirus.
The sport achieved a successful restart after the opening race of the season, the Australian GP, was cancelled back in March.

The two races at the Red Bull Ring were exciting and there were no positive cases of COVID 19, as staff obeyed strict lockdown protocols.
But while teams have been in containment away from their families, racing drivers have been openly heading back home, most notably Charles Leclerc and Valtteri Bottas.
The situation is now even worse in Budapest for this weekend’s Hungarian GP, where UK residents risk prison for being out of their hotel rooms or either at the race track.
It means that as soon as the F1 curfew is imposed at 1am, staff will be forced back to their hotels before the track is reopened at 9am, leaving them with six hours sleep.
F1 attempted its first triple header in 2018 when races were held in France, Austria and Silverstone.
Back then, Otmar Szafnauer, who is now team boss of Racing Point, admitted the hectic schedule of those three consecutive races had affected his team.

At the time, Szafnauer said: “It’s the first one we’ve ever had and it’s a bit tiring to go from one to the other to the other.
“I can see it in the mechanics and the service personnel, they’re pretty much exhausted. I didn’t anticipate it would be this bad.
“People told me beforehand that it was going to be very difficult but I just thought, ‘Yeah, sure’. But it really is.
“I think the people making the calendar have taken that into consideration for next year and we won’t see a triple header.”
While there were no triple headers in 2019, F1 has opted for them to get this season up and running before planning to do up to 18 races.
And there could be a further blow to already weary team members as there is a feeling that F1 is set to announce more races in consecutive weeks at Portimao, Imola and Hockenheim.
Another worried team member told me: “They won’t do anything about the curfew until someone crashes and dies.
“Extending the curfew back one and a half hours, just costs everyone sleep. It is the same about driving when tired.”

    2

Early season races have been fascinating but the schedule risks burning out those behind the scenesCredit: EPA
SunSport quizzed F1 drivers about the impact on their team members with Lewis Hamilton admitting it could get “strenuous” while highlighting their reluctance to speak out.
He said: “It’s an interesting subject to talk on. At the moment, being that there’s been no racing for so long, I think diving straight in and having these three races, so far, everyone’s upbeat, everyone’s excited.
“But it is odd that in-between the races, not being able to get back home. At the moment, it’s not an issue as far as I’m aware.
“But I can see it being strenuous in the following three back-to-back races that we get to have.
“The men and women within the team, they generally keep their feelings to themselves and they channel that into their work. That’s what we do.
“You don’t normally hear anyone really complaining. But we just have to manage it. It’s just this year I would say that it’s going to happen. Fingers crossed hopefully.”
    ‘THE REAL HEROES’
McLaren’s British racer, Lando Norris also singled out the mechanics and engineers for praise, saying they were real heroes.
While Norris also admitted they would be feeling the strain of such a hectic work schedule.
He added: “From my side, I am fine and feeling as excited and energised as I need to be. But by the end of it, it would be nice to have a break.
“I have been away for three weeks but it is harder for mechanics and engineers than the drivers, in terms of the hours they spend at the race track.
“They have to be here at stupid o’clock working on the cars already and they work to stupid o’clock in the evening getting everything ready for the following day.
“Then on Sunday they have to take everything down and get the car ready to take to the next event.

F1 has used the blocks of races to help build up a schedule. With several teams facing crippling finances due to the lack of running during the coronavirus, getting the sport up and running has been of most importance.
But the workers are now feeling the strain.

Lando Norris was forced to return to UK with internal bruising caused by being battered inside McLaren F1 car

MCLAREN star Lando Norris was forced to return to the UK after suffering internal bruising during the opening rounds of the Formula 1 season.
In racing to a first-ever podium in Austria, followed by a stirring rally to fifth last weekend, the young Brit was bashed around by the severe G forces experienced at 200 miles per hour.

    1

Despite being under strict coronavirus “bubble” protocols, Norris saw a specialist back home during the week before jetting off to this weekend’s race in Hungary.
And he explained that being away from his F1 car for so long, during the lockdown period, was behind his troubles.
The 20-year-old told reporters: “I went back to the UK in the last few days, remaining in my bubble, to go and see some specialists and get scans and so on.
“It’s not something that’s going to heal completely overnight but I’m much better than what I was last weekend.

“It’s just bruising from being out of the car for so long basically, being out of a Formula 1 car for so long, and then getting back into it and going straight into a race weekend, doing so many laps.
“It wasn’t something I could really prepare for or know about until after we did the first weekend.

Ferrari reveal clampdown on controversial engine is slowing them down as team struggles in new F1 season

FERRARI have admitted for the first time that a clampdown on their controversial engine is slowing them down.
The Italian team were the subject of much accusation last year, with rival teams hinting that their engine was illegal.

    2

The two Ferraris crashing into eachother in Austria emphasised a torrid startCredit: AFP or licensors
Controversially, the findings of an FIA investigation were kept private – much to the frustration of non-Ferrari powered teams.
But since the rules were clarified through a series of technical directives (TDs), Ferrari have been embarrassingly off the pace and boss Mattia Binotto says it is because the FIA has flexed its muscles.
He said: “Certainly I think that regulations are very difficult and complex.
“There are areas of regulations on the power unit where maybe clarifications are still required, it’s an ongoing process, which has always existed in the past and will exist in the future.

“Since last year a lot of TDs have been released, eventually clarifying some of the areas of regulations, through those TDs, we had to adapt ourselves.
“I don’t think it is only the case with Ferrari, because looking at the power output of this season I think most manufacturers somehow had to adapt themselves but certainly as Ferrari we had to adapt and as a simple output of that we lost some of the performance we had.
