Lewis Hamilton accused of FAKING Italian GP injury by Red Bull advisor despite Verstappen’s car landing on his head

RED BULL advisor Helmut Marko has accused Lewis Hamilton of faking his injuries caused by his Italian GP crash with Max Verstappen. The Formula One title rivals were involved in a serious collision which saw Hamilton saved by the halo on his Mercedes after Verstappen’s car landed on the Brit’s head.

Hamilton was taken to hospital for checks after the smash and revealed on social media he is experiencing ‘headaches’ and a ‘tight neck’.
But despite saying he will see a specialist the 36-year-old attended New York’s Met Gala just 24 hours after the incident.
And Red Bull chief Marko believes the seven-time world champion is putting on his injuries caused at the Monza circuit.
The Austrian, 78, told German newspaper Osterreich: “’It was a normal racing accident. All the stories around it were pulled up by the hair by Mercedes.
“Verstappen had already got out when Hamilton tried to go back to get out of the gravel.
“The medical car saw that and drove on. And then a show is put on that poor Hamilton is suddenly injured.”

Stewards deemed Verstappen responsible for the crash and handed him a three-place penalty for Sochi’s Russian Grand Prix on September 26.
And Mercedes boss Totto Wolf believed the Dutchman knew exactly what he was doing as he described it as a “tactical foul”.
Both drivers were forced to retire which allowed McLaren’s Daniel Ricciardo pick up his first victory in over three years.
A show is put on that poor Hamilton is suddenly injured. Helmut Marko, Red Bull Advisor

While Hamilton wrote on social media: “It’s days like today, I am reminded of how lucky I am.
“It takes a millisecond to go from racing to a very scary situation. Today someone must have been looking down, watching over me!
“My necks a bit sore as the adrenaline wears off – it was a bit of a hit on the head, so naturally I have one big headache but I’m doing okay!
“The halo stopped the crash from being a lot worse and I’m incredibly grateful to all those that work to make our cars and racing safer. TeamLH … the support I receive from you keeps me pushing and fighting.
“I’m so thankful for each and everyone of you, you are truly the best. Still we rise!”

Watch dramatic newly-released dash-cam footage of Lewis Hamilton’s head being run over by F1 rival Max Verstappen

NEWLY-RELEASED dash-cam footage shows just how serious Lewis Hamilton’s smash with Max Verstappen at Sunday’s Italian GP could have been. The F1 icons collided as the Dutchman attempted an overtake into the Turn 1 chicane and it resulted in him almost running over the Brit’s head.
New dash-cam footage shows Max Verstappen nearly running over Lewis Hamilton’s head on Sunday

Verstappen received a three place grid penalty as a result.
And only the halo safety system on Hamilton’s car stopped the British legend from being seriously injured.
He walked away with just a headache and a sore neck but it could have been much worse.
And the newly released footage from the front of Hamilton’s car shows just how life-threatening the smash could have been.
The video was posted on F1’s Twitter account, was watched more than 200,000 times and received more than 13,000 likes and 1,800 retweets.
Verstappen tried to pass but failed to complete the move and bounced OVER Hamilton’s car as the Mercedes driver defended his position.

With both men out of the race, Formula One stewards waited until after the chequered flag to review the incident.
Both were called to answer questions on the crash and it was decided that Verstappen, 23, should be handed a three-place penalty for the next race’s starting grid.
Two penalty points have also been added to the Red Bull star’s licence, which was previously clean.
After reviewing the footage, stewards determined that Verstappen was never even ahead of Hamilton’s front wheel and therefore did not have the right to the racing line.
The Brit was also considered to have taken an ‘avoiding line’ to limit the chances of contact with his rival.
    ‘VERSTAPPEN TO BLAME’
That left them with the view that Hamilton had put his car in a ‘reasonable’ position’ and Verstappen was ‘predominantly to blame’.
The incident also saw the 36-year-old escape potentially serious injury as the Red Bull bounced off the halo device above his head.
It left Hamilton feeling ‘sore’ but both men walked away from the scene of the crash.
Hamilton was initially against the Halo’s introduction.
He said four years ago: “It definitely doesn’t look good; we know that.
“I think we are moving towards a closed cockpit. The things that have happened with drivers being hit on the head, it is kind of crazy that today we are still vulnerable.
“Our head is the most precious part of our body; it is exposed. I definitely don’t argue against it.”
    ‘GRATEFUL TO BE HERE’
But four years on, superstar Hamilton said after Sunday’s crash: “I am so grateful I am still here. I feel incredibly blessed that someone was watching over me today.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been hit on the head by a car before – and it is quite a big shock for me.
“We are taking risks and it’s only when you experience something like that that you get the real shock of how you look at life and how fragile we all are.”
Verstappen had played down his role in the collision before seeing the stewards.
He declared: “These things happen. We are all professional enough to get on with it and keep on racing each other.
“But I did not expect him to keep on squeezing, squeezing, squeezing. He did not even need to.
“If he would have left me a car width we would have raced out of Turn 2 and he would have probably would have stayed in front anyway.
“He kept on pushing me wider and wider and at one point there was nowhere to go and he pushed me onto the sausage kerb and that is why we touched, because the rear tyre bumped up to his tyre.”
Following the last of a triple-header of races in Italy, F1 now heads to Sochi for the Russian GP on September 26.
The ten greatest F1 drivers of all-time – according to SunSport’s motorsport correspondent Ben Hunt
Verstappen increased his lead in the Drivers’ Championship to five points after finishing second in Saturday’s sprint qualifying.
Hamilton said: “I made sure I left a car’s width on the outside for him. I went into Turn 1 and I was ahead and was ahead going into Turn 2, then all of a sudden he was on top of me.”
Sir Jackie Stewart has since slammed Verstappen for not checking on Hamilton as the Dutchman walked away from the crash.

Who is Michael Schumacher’s wife Corinna Betsch, when did she marry F1 legend and how many children do they have?

MICHAEL Schumacher’s wife Corinna Betsch has stood steadfastly by her stricken husband ever since his tragic skiing accident in 2013.But while her husband found fame as a Formula One champ, here’s a little about his wife.
Michael and Corinna have been married since 1995Credit: Getty – Contributor
    Corinna’s life and times
The 50-year-old German was born on March 2, 1969 in Halver in what was West Germany and is also keen on sports.
In 2010 she won the European Championship in western style horse riding.
She married the seven-times F1 champ in August 1995 in Germany and the couple live in Switzerland.
The couple own horse ranches in Texas and Switzerland.
After Michael’s skiing accident Corinna has kept out of the spotlight.
F1 legend Michael, a seven times world champion, was put in a medically induced coma after a fall in the French Alps in December 2013.
He was skiing with his son Mick, when he hit his head on rocks.
And, despite wearing a helmet, the German star fell into a coma for six months after the accident and doctors said he had suffered blood clots on the brain.
Physicians said the F1 legend would almost certainly have died if he was not wearing head protection.
Corinna had been a big supporter of her husband’s career and was often seen by his side at races.
Back in 2013 he told a German TV channel that he and his wife had never had a serious fight as a married couple.
He said: “It’s because we share the same values. During all the time I was racing she was my guardian angel.”
Michael was taken to hospital in Paris on September 9 for a stem cell treatment.
    Who are their children?
Corinna gave birth to their first kid Gina-Maria in 1997 with Mick following two years later.
Gina-Maria is a professional horse rider while Mick competes in formula racing.
Mick started out karting but has now progressed to Formula 3.
Gina-Maria, now 22, recently won the Cavalli a Roma event in Italy, held by the  National Reigning Horse Association.
In January 2018, Gina posted an emotional message to her father on Instagram as he celebrated his 49th birthday.
She wrote: “Happy Birthday to the best Dad ever. We love you. #keepfighting.”

What happened in the court case?
Corinna had demanded compensation over a headline in the German magazine Die Aktuelle.
In 2015 the weekly magazine featured a picture of Corinna on the front page alongside the headline: “Corinna Schumacher – a new love makes her happy.”
The story itself was about her daughter Gina-Maria and her new romance.
Corinna’s lawyer though filed a complaint saying the headline was misleading.
However a Hamburg court recently dismissed the action, it has been reported.
According to the court, the front page did not necessarily lead to the incorrect idea that Corinna had split up with her husband.

What did her letter to a German musician say?
Corinna described her husband as a “fighter” in a note revealed nearly five years since his ski tragedy.
In the emotional letter, sent at an unknown time to a German musician, Corinna said: “I would like to sincerely thank you for your message and nice gift that will help us through this difficult time.
“It is good to receive so many kind wishes and other well-intentioned words – which is a great support for our family.
“We all know Michael is a fighter and will not give up.”
It was written as a reply to Hamburg bandleader Sascha Herchenbach who had sent the family a recording of a new song named Born To Fight.
He had composed the track in the months after the tragic accident
Mr Herchenbach, 38, revealed the contents of the letter in an interview with German magazine Bunte. More

Hamilton flew out to New York for the ‘Oscars of fashion’ following his crash at the Italian GP.
And he proved his class by securing the table for some up-and-coming designers.
Usually, the tables are snapped up by the major stars in the industry – who then fill their seats with the A-list celebrities kitted out in their imaginative designs.
But Hamilton revealed he felt ‘really, really fortunate’ Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour agreed to host his table.
The Brit driver said: “I’ve brought four incredible, young, black talented designers.
“So we’ve got a great host of people tonight and it’s about just highlighting beauty and excellence and talent.”

One of the four rising stars brought along by Hamilton was Kenneth Nicholson.
Nicholson designed a custom piece for the seven-time world champion with a suit and calf-length lace shirt.
Hamilton wrote on Instagram: “So incredibly honoured to have collaborated with American Designer Kenneth Nicholson on bringing this vision to life.
“Kenneth’s craftsmanship and point of view advances menswear in truly inspiring ways. It’s a dream.”
Alongside Nicholson and superstar stylist Law Roach were the other designers Theophilio and Jason Rembert.
Completing the table of guests were model Alton Mason, singer Kehlani and athletes Miles Chamley-Watson and Sha’Carri Richardson.
Hamilton was not the only British sporting hero at the 2021 Met Gala, hosted at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

US Open champion Emma Raducanu, fresh from her scintillating performances on the tennis courts across town at Flushing Meadows, stunned in a black and white Chanel ensemble.
The 18-year-old from Bromley arrived for last night’s bash wearing a Chanel handkerchief skirt along with a cropped camisole and oversized floral print shirt.
Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Kendall Jenner and Billie Eilish were also among the star-studded faces in attendance.

Sir Jackie Stewart slams Max Verstappen for not checking on Lewis Hamilton after he cheated death in Italian GP crash

FORMULA ONE legend Sir Jackie Stewart has hit out at Max Verstappen following his horror collision with Lewis Hamilton on Sunday. The Red Bull driver, 23, has been handed a three-place penalty for the Russian Grand Prix after crashing into the Mercedes star at Monza.

Both men ended in the gravel and out of the race at the Italian Grand Prix after the Dutchman attempted a risky overtake into the Turn 1 chicane on lap 26.
But he failed to move past Hamilton, 36, with Verstappen’s car bouncing over the British icon.
Hamilton declared after the race he felt lucky to be alive after avoiding serious injury thanks to his halo safety device.
The halo, which was introduced back in 2018, is an added safety feature on all F1 cars, acting as titanium ring of protection around the driver’s cockpit.
It is designed to prevent drivers from getting injuries from flying debris or suffering head trauma.
Hamilton, who complained of neck pain after the incident, wasn’t checked on by Verstappen following the crash, with three-time F1 world champion Stewart left disappointed in him.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, the 82-year-old said: “Verstappen is taking longer than expected to mature.
“Not even to go to see Hamilton after a serious accident when you have just driven over the top of the guy is something I don’t really understand.
“Especially when he is still in his car and remained there for a long time before getting out. Max has quite a lot to learn. But who will he listen to?
“He’s very, very good. He’s probably the fastest driver on the grid now, but to be a proper champion you cannot be entangling yourself in crashes all the time.”
Before adding: “The stewards have more information, but if they were so certain Verstappen was entirely to blame then why does he only get a three-place penalty?
“If it weren’t for the halo, Lewis could have died, and the supposed culprit only gets a slap on the wrist.”
Praising the halo immediately after the Italian GP, Hamilton remarked: “Honestly, I feel very, very fortunate. Thank God for the halo. That ultimately saved me. And saved my neck.
