Lewis Hamilton breaks silence over Chelsea takeover bid and reveals he’s only Arsenal fan because he was BULLIED into it

LEWIS HAMILTON has spoken about his involvement in the £2.5billion Chelsea takeover.The seven-time F1 world champion is investing tens of millions of pounds in the bid led by former Liverpool chairman Sir Martin Broughton.

Hamilton, who has in the past said he was an Arsenal fan, has been facing questions about the deal ahead of this weekend’s F1 race in Italy.
And the 37-year-old says he was bullied into supporting the Gunners – and initially hoped of turning pro at his local club, Stevenage.
He said: “I’ve been a football fan since I was a kid, I played from the age of four to 17 in teams every year.

Lewis Hamilton branded ‘GOAT’ by Mercedes team-mate George Russell as he reveals all over relationship with F1 legend

MERCEDES new boy George Russell has heaped praise on team-mate Lewis Hamilton, coining him the “greatest of all time”. The 24-year-old has started the F1 season stronger than his Merc colleague, but insists there are “no hard feelings” between the pair.

Russell has impressed in a Mercedes car that is struggling to compete with the likes of Red Bull and Ferrari.
In his debut campaign for the team, the youngster has finished ahead of Hamilton, 37, in two out of the three races so far.
But speaking ahead of this week’s Emilia Romagna GP, Russell hailed Hamilton, telling Sky Sports: “I think because we’re at just different stages of our career, there’s no hard feelings either way.
“From my side, I’m 24 years old going up against the greatest of all time, if he were to finish ahead of me, obviously I don’t like it but I’m not going to cry and sulk about it.

“I think equally from Lewis’ side, he’s achieved so much – he’s a seven-time world champion, he’s got all the records.”
Russell went on to suggest that sometimes competition between team-mates can boil over if they are at the same point in their careers.
It’s something Hamilton knows all about, having gone directly head-to-head with Nico Rosberg at Mercedes for the world title when the pair raced alongside each other between 2013 and 2016.
Russell added: “You see it sometimes when you’ve got two drivers who are at the same stage of their career… In the back of all drivers’ minds they’re fighting for that top leadership spot, whereas for both of us, there isn’t that because Lewis has been here for so long.”

Instead Russell suggested Hamilton was the skipper of the team, and for now he’s happy in the role of understudy.
He continued: “I’m the new kid within the team and I’m not going to go out there trying to be the leader of the team when I’m going up against the greatest of all time who’s been here for 10 years.
“He’s like the captain of the team and that’s how it should be.”
Hamilton trails Russell by nine points in the driver’s standings heading into this weekend’s GP.

According to Sky News, the duo are each investing around £10million into Broughton’s offer.
Should Broughton’s bid for Chelsea be successful, it’s said Hamilton will become involved in efforts to “promote diversity, equity and inclusion”.
The news has come as a surprise given the fact that Hamilton is a huge Arsenal fan.

FORMULA ONE could hold a second race in “boring” Singapore to replace the cancelled Russian Grand Prix, according to reports. The race in Sochi was cancelled by F1 following Russia’s invasion of neighbouring Ukraine in late February.

It has left a gap on F1’s 23-race calendar which could be filled by Qatar’s Losail International Circuit.
Qatar signed a 10-year deal to host a grand prix starting from 2023.

Marko continued: “He is a lot calmer.
“After his retirement, he returned to the pit box and we discussed things calmly.
“However, in this case, we knew we could run into that problem, because we also had to deal with that in qualifying, so it didn’t come out of the blue in that regard.
“He is an emotional and passionate driver who will always give his opinion.
“But, in my view, he is a lot calmer than in the past.”
Verstappen will be hoping this weekend’s race in Imola can kick-start his season and get his title defence back on track.

FERRARI star Charles Leclerc had his watch stolen by a fan in Italy on Easter Monday.The Frenchman, 24, is leading the F1 World Championship this season and his stardom in Italy is growing.

The watch that was reportedly stolen is worth almost a quarter of a million pounds
So when fans noticed him in the Tuscan city of Viareggio, they began gathering to take photos with Leclerc.
But the F1 driver eventually became mobbed while signing autographs for fans and a thief managed to grab his £246,000 Richard Mille watch, according to reports.
Leclerc did not realise his watch had been stolen until later but the incident has now been reported to police.
The authorities have begun their investigations and are trying to ascertain whether the robbery was opportunistic or premeditated.

What is the sprint and how does it change things?
The Sprint is a shortened race around a third of the distance of the tacks which sets the grid for the final race on Sunday.
It was introduced in the calendar last season (Silverstone, Monza, Interlagos) and it added to the excitement of each event.
However, there is a slight change this time around because the top eight drivers during the sprint will score points from eight down to one in the corresponding order.
As opposed to 2021 when only the top three were able to score numbers on the board.
They will the form their grid slots in those positions which only then will the regular points scoring apply.

Following his poor start to the 2022 campaign, Mercedes icon Lewis Hamilton has demanded that his team need a huge response if they want him to obtain an eighth Championship.
Hamilton said: “I will be on Zoom calls with our bosses, and really trying to rally them up,” said Hamilton.

“We have got some improvements that we need to make and we need everyone’s support in doing so.
“It is about making sure we leave no stone unturned, that the hunger is there and we are maximising every moment.
“I will be chasing the people in the wind tunnel, the aerodynamic guys, and just looking at every single area.”
As for Charles Leclerc, the Monegasque driver is excited with the challenge that awaits and he is hoping to capitalise on his 34-point lead.
Leclerc stated: “Obviously we only had the third race, so it’s difficult to think about the Championship but to be honest, we’ve got a very strong car, a reliable car too.
“We’ve always been there, so I hope it continues like this and if it does, the we probably have chances for the Championship which obviously makes me smile.
